Dellos Fish & Chips in South Lanarkshire

I remember when Dellos opened in the 80s I also remember the young Italian chap that ran it in those days it was the best chippy for miles around stopped by hungry after a roadtrip not a hard order for a Tuesday night special fish and a chicken supper chips wee cold hard bits of wood tried to soften them out with to much vinegar fish definitely not haddock over cooked chicken over cooked on the outside cold in the middle all served up by someone that just didn't care

Food USED to be good years ago! Really gone downhill, last few meals I have had were rotten.

Waited 90 minutes. No delivery. No return call.. Eventually cancelled the order. No answer to phone call. So disappointing. Ryde.

Good takeaway food cash only in chip shop? but very expensive if you get a delivery you can wait well over 70 minutes yet the Indian take away 2 doors down can deliver in 15 minutes and the Chinese a mile further away can do it in 15 minutes?

Went down hill …. But phoned for delivery and 30 mins later got it I would be quicker walking it ….. and it was cold . I won’t be back to Delos sadly ….

How can a fried pizza be burnt yet floppy? Not even the pizza I ordered. We ordered the homemade pizza and got hit with this crap. Chips under done and cold. Not recommended. A shame because we've been before and the fish supper was good.

Shocking service very ignorant and are quick to serve regular customers before anyone else. I won't be back plenty of chip shops about that would love the business. Fish a bit salty. Chips not chips at all. Tiny we bits not full chips shocking. If I didn't live so far away I would have taken back

The best fish and chips I've eaten in years, and my dad had a fish and chip shop in Glasgow who made the most amazing fish and chips back in the day. The fresh, flaky haddock is divine, and those who don't like fish have never tried it here. Come here, you won't be disappointed! (Just look at the photos of the special fish.)

Usually this is the best place to get fish n' chips. But tonight we got a 10" chicken and pineapple pizza which was 8" if it was lucky with tiny cubes of rock hard chicken. Also a chicken, mushroom and onion calzone, but instead it was a puffed up coisant full of pepperoni and chewy dough.

I can't believe some of the negative reviews I've just read about Dellos. Ive used it for years and never had a bad meal. It's easily the best chippy in the area, it's not even close. Someone recommended the Kraken chippy in Whitlawburn to me. tried it once, trust me - Not Good ! I had a Lemon Sole goujons and chips tonight, it was amazin - 10/10. Keep it up guys 👍

Ordered on just eat item missing from the order phoned the shop and just kept getting told the item was definitely there and the person on the phone 100% put in the item, wasn't willing to send replacement for item missed, won't be ordering again.

Having delllos for years alway high standard had fish supper yesterday was OK not up to usual standards fish smaller than usual was disappointed I expect a lot better for price

Food was VERY greasy despite being freshly made. Fried pizza was extremely soft. Battered sausage had no crunch and very very very greasy. Chips were soggy and again (surprise surprise) so greasy. Shame.

Have been going here for years and still have no complaints, food is always at a high standard no matter what time you visit. If your looking for a great Fish and Chips look no further*****

The best fish supper around! Lots of comments on price on here but it's in line with other good fish shops. Unfortunately the cost of most things is only going up, this will always impact the price.

They are just greedy now. Charging 11 quid for a special fish supper and giving you one small fish. Used to get a large fish for this price. Been going here for over 20 years. This will be my last.

Bought a fish supper at £9.95 and a was given a handful of chips with it about 10 chips and a few crumbs. Previous customer and this is the 1st time a have been disappointed with the food.

Dellos fish and chips is In burnside for anyone that doesn't know it is near rutherglen area, very friendly staff. Fast and efficient service, top quality food. Battered fish is amazing and it is always on point. Once you have been going for a while they remember what you order and it is never rushed, it is a nice experience. It is a takeaway. But worth giving it a try

Needs to start taking cards. Literally the only chip shop I know that doesn't. In this day and age, being cash only is a definite sign of dodginess.

Absolutely outrageous , the older woman wouldn't give me a small portion of chips as they were only sold in regular portions

Had the crumbed haddock and chips - which was the special. Totally delicious fish and huge. Chips tasty too. Visiting family nearby. Had visited other family in Kent prior and the fish and chips they got there was tasteless and greasy. You are lucky to have this place as your local! No wonder it's busy.

The hamburgers and the batter are soggy not crispy try going to the Oxford chippy just off Cambridge St on the hill .

Pretty decent fish and chips, used to do good pizza back in the day but not as nice now. Marking it down as it’s the only chip shop in the west of Scotland that pointedly does not sell a roll and chips, forcing you to buy a bag of chips and a roll separately. Bit mean.

Dellos is a Brilliant chip-shop. Their customer-base must be impressive as the shop is never quiet in the early evening . The food is cooked to a consistently high standard (it's all too easy to make terrible chips) and wìth Dellos it's bang-on every time. I am a particular fan of their fish suppers.

This used to be my go to chip shop when I last lived in the area. Since moving back, I’ve been using the Kraken as it was nearer, but the quality has been a bit hit‘n miss, so thought I’d give Dellos a go again. I don’t think the staff have changed (or aged) since I was last there. Fish super was delicious and the quality of fish far superior to Kraken. I’ll definitely be using Dellos as my regular chip shop again!

The guy behind the counter needs to remember that when you're ordering food, it should not feel like you've disturbed his day. They also do not check who's been served and immediately go to who's coming in the door, not who's in the queue. Then blame the customer for "looking at the menu"

ordered seafood box and could not believe the awful size of the portion for £6+, received 4 small pieces of sea food and a solitary calamari ring in a small polystyrene box

Don't waste your money on this place. Reheated small crispy chips if you buy when they are just opened. Obviously trying to get rid of what they didn't sell at lunchtime. Potions of fish small and very pricey. Would not go back due to inflated prices, small potions and reheats. They also don't do fritters as they are obviously buying the cheapest small potatoes that are evident in the small crispy chips that you get that are not big enough for fritters.!! Scandelous!! We spent over £40 for 4 fish suppers and a haggis supper. Binned. Disgusting. Would not return!!

Had an awful experience with this chippie. Delivery drivers were rude and threw the chips at me and when I rang to shop to complain they were so rude and unhelpful. Will never be back. Would give it 0 star if I could

Chip steak at lunch time is superb always phone order to collect this way it's always freshly cooked. I've read the reviews about not getting enough chips but I always get loads and at £3.35 it's a absolute bargain.

Over priced fish supper at almost £18 for two.. Noticed the server putting some of the payment into colleagues white coat ......shady in my opinion. Fish was large,chip portion ,chips not huge amount I won't be back.

Food was absolutely vile. Chippies are meant to be greasy yes but this was dripping in grease. Thought trying using somewhere new I'll stick to the place we usually go to. Food went straight in the bin.

Phoned for a delivery. Black pudding halved and reheated. Sausage batter looked and tasted like it had been reheated on more than one occasion. Pizza toppings were stuck to the box and chips weren’ t great either. When phoned up to complain the girl on the end of the phone hung up on us. Will never be back

The haddock I had yesterday was one of the best pieces of fish I have ever had. It wasn't cheap but you get what you pay for. The amount of chips was adequate but not as generous as some other chippies. The staff were very friendly.

Too posh for fritters, if u want a roll n chips, expect to have to buy a bag of chips plus a roll. Portions small and overpriced!!!!! Dont bother with curry sauce, just like water, not thick like it should be. Cant even put vinegar on before salt, i got salt followed by vinegar washing off the salt, Doh!! Take your hard earned cash elsewhere, plenty of people on trip adviser saying the same, got more 1 star reviews vs 5 stars, hmmmm!! Never again, keep hearing that, funnily enough. Time that the management actually reads the reviews of their so called service and deal with it. The writing is on the wall. Don't know how they managed 25 years in business, must be the ripping off of the locals, plenty of dough in their pension pot and still not retiring.

Worst chippy I've ever been to. Gave it a second chance recently after getting ripped off for a supper previously. Asked for a roll and chips to be told they sell them separately!! The most blatant way imaginable to force customers into paying full price for each item. The handful of chips cost £2.35 and the roll 20p. They didn't even cut it so I had to pull it apart in the car. £2.55 for a roll and chips barely doused in S&V is an absolute joke. The owners are rude and sour faced too!

It used to be good maybe 2 years ago. This year since they have changed packaging and increased prices, I had no quality but quantity and industrial food (bones in the fish, bigger but far less tasty, bad fat chips). I agree with some reviews saying that the staff is rude (I thought that was just with me because I'm not Scottish :) By the way, Google shows it as "open" when it's not, like today for example, when I walked out of Tesco 20min ago.

£3.90 For a bag of chips, no other place close so charge what they want. Made a light hearted quip to the staff and thought I was getting hit with my change. Never ever again

Extremely overpriced and our meal was terrible. Mouth full of fish bones with every bite. Sausage still pink. Both went to waste. Handful of chips. Had an extremely overpriced roll and chips in the end! Would definitely not recommend.

Our local chippy, been going here for years, always good quality. It is more important expensive but we think it's worth it.

Went in got a 2 sausages suppers which had one sausage in each any other chip shop sells two in there suppers so one supper is 4.50 for one sauge and a tiny amount of chips absolutely shocking bad bad takeaway just out to take ur money and then give you rubbish stay away horrible place
