Delhi DarBar in West Dunbartonshire

We have used the Deli Darbar for a very long time possibly as long as it has been opened. I ordered a takeaway tonight, after enjoying the starters went to the mains to realise we had 2 of the same. I telephoned and the issue was dealt with immediately all fresh and very tasty. Would certainly recommend. Thank you very much for your quick response even though it's Friday night

Restaurant is there for more than for 25yrs, so the interiors or the way the restaurant present itself is less, compared to the food and staff. Food is excellent, came to know that chef is been their since inception of the restaurant. Service of the staff is good and place is clean.

myself and a friend visited here as it was the closest. I live in the Midlands so know a good curry. I had the mixed tandoori grill and found it average. We were the only 2 people in there.

Excellent food. Our family is vegan and they helpfully and easily accommodated us. You can even get plain naan which is vegan and delicious! We got aloo gobi, chana masala, and mixed vegetables and all were great.

Really, really good food. Friendly staff and low priced. Out of town location let's it down, but quality of food makes up for it. A hidden gem in Dumbarton.

Food was delicious, really good portion sizes, able to take away what we couldn’t eat. 2 courses & 2 & cans of juice was approx £20 per head. Great value, will definitely be back.

Carry out mixed pakora, not nice half the tub was veg and don’t mean veg pakora I mean veg to take up room , the chicken was that nasty watery cheap stuff and the veg pakora was very small it also only had one mushroom pakora in the tub , all was limp and soggy as obvious re heated in a microwave, never buy again !

The taste of food is really good, we tried north Indian vegetarian options, they were quite good. Also the interior of restaurant is beautiful.

Delicious, fragrant food and extremely friendly service. Loved chatting with our server Vicky who made us feel welcome and unhurried even as we arrived close to closing time.

Basically poor We were 8 and the Manager was trying to be clever and said that in Scotland if there are 8 people than you have still have to order for 10 and that is how it works in Scotland. What a load of gobblers!!!!! Never heard of such a thing. The naan we ordered was chilli and garlic naan and what we got was red chilli power spread over the naan and garlic juice spread ov the naan. When asked that the naan should be with green chilli and fresh garlic with butter. The managers response was that if we put green chilli it will melt. This means the manager does not know how to cook or make chilli naan Over all very bad restaurant.

Excellent food. Honey chicken chat starter was very good. Spiced onions and the sauce with rhem in particular w the pappadoms (large and dry and good) was different and tasty, lemony/limey/coriander/ginger The masala was good. I forget how generous the portions are in glasgow curry houses. The only dissappointment was the nan which was forgotten and then when it turned up was either burnt or raw and unrisen - clearly rushed. When i pointed this out it was struck from the bill. So good customer management attitude. To be improved? Careful service. Presentation. Apart from that, excellent value, well above average, tasty food and i would recommend it and go back again.

Just ordered a takeaway chicken byurian..nan bread .veg pakora.. pakora soggy ..nan bread undercooked... byurian sauce hot and tasteless.. unfortunately we won't b back ..hate giving bad reviews ..maybe sitting in for a meal is better

Ordered dal tadka and chicken biryani. Biryanis was okay but dal tadka seemed straight from Punjab. Amazing food and hospitality. Can certainly do more with ambience but if you’re there for food one hundred percent authentic Indian food.

Absolutely rotten service. 30 minutes over the allotted pickup time and I'm still waiting. Staff constantly apologising to callers over late deliveries.

Received my order 30 mins ago. Complete disaster. Half the Riata sauce was on the Nan bread and majority of curry sauce on the bag. Goodness knows what’s happened between the restaurant and here but arrived all squashed and leaking. Called the restaurant to complain and seek reimbursement as it’s in edible and told I need to wait until they have spoken to the driver which might be tomorrow. Surely if he is delivering food in this state it should be addressed asap. Sincerely disappointed and await feedback

So, haven't used the darbar in yrs, think it was due to incorrect meals. Several times, decided to try again the other night. Honestly it couldn't have went worse, meals hardly warm never mind hot, plus no consideration for heavy cartons placed on each other. I had sauce everywhere inside the bag. Don't get me wrong the meal was tasty after we zapped it, did complain bit was given the "very sorry" brush off but that was it, nice meal shame about the service,

It might be the only Indian restaurant in the area, but I would rather drive 20 miles away than visit this place again. Poppadoms tasted 3 days old. The house wine was watered down. Food was OK but the owner had no customer service qualities. Give this place a wide berth, you ll thank me for it!

Craving an Indian after a long day. Stumbled across this restaurant. I'm not from Scotland so was pleasantly surprised to come across this restaurant, run by Vicky. He was so happy to see us and welcomed us warmly. He good a chat with me and the wife and recommend dishes. The food was heart warmly homely . Our taste buds were sated. Proper desi tasting food. Highly recommended.

I have been a customer of this fine establishment for a long time now and find the meals very tasty offering more authentic cuisine than their competitors. Excellent food coupled with friendly efficient staff who not only remember you as a customer but also become familiar with your ordering preferences. It has to be 5 stars from me.

Came here for dinner after doing The Cobbler and Bein Ime, I also noted that it was given just over 4/5 stars so expected good things from this place. The decor inside was of typical India themed restaurant, it was a little on the dark side. Could probably do with a redo especially when you see the restaurant from outside. White building with a nice sharp shop sign. Entered the place and was welcomed by staff who promptly seated us. The smell of the spices was amazing I must add. We ordered Kingfisher beer though nice could really be chilled a further 1-2 degrees cooler. We were given complimentary popadoms with spicy onions. Loved that-cant go wrong with those. Starters were mix pakora which consisted of chicken, veg and fish, so got the fish replaced with mushroom pakora. The pakora was nice and dips just as nice. But the batter was a little heavy like what you would get from a takeaway after a night out, sort of expected lighter being a restaurant. Had chilli garlic chicken and Balti Chicken with some rice and naan bread. Both were nice in their own rights, now admittedly I haven’t had a Balti chicken for a while but was a very mild meal no heat at all. But I can say I could taste all the spices used in cooking this nice meal. The Chilli Garlic was a little disappointed, it was NICE but lacked that nice accumulating heat build up you normally get. Even ate a chilli and that tasted mild. One thing I noticed was that the chicken in both meals tasted slightly over salted. My friend commented that you would need to be a basketball player to use the urinal….lol but he is 5’3 ish. I do agree with him though, toilet really let the place down I got to add. In general the place deserved a solid 3 star. My mate also agreed the place deserved a 3, would had given it a 4 let down by chicken beer and the toilet. It’s NICE. Would I go back yes maybe but only if its the only place in Dumbarton.

Two visits to this restaurant in one week. That shows we liked the food, the place and the waiter. His name is Vicki, we think. Probably a shortened Indian name. He was very efficient and seems to manage front of house on his own. The decor and furniture is authentic from India. We visit the area once a year and we will be going again next year.

Poor is the only way to describe this place. first off we didn't even know if it was open from the outside, once inside it was dark, dingy and well in need of decoration. The one woman who working to the restaurant was sat down and spent more time talking on her phone than bothering with us. When she did come over to us she was miserable and a terrible waitress. There were two others guest when we got there but after five minutes they left leaving us on our own. No atmosphere and a very uninviting experience. To top it off I ask for a pint of Cobra which they have on tap and got a more expensive bottle in stead and told that the pump was out. Next the food came out and both of our Naans or Nan as they call it on the menu came out on top of each other on one plate that wasn't big enough to hold one properly!. The only plus I can give this place hence the two Stars was that the dishes were OK not amazing but OK and the dinning area looked to be clean to the eye. Check my reviews and you'll see that I eat in many curry houses all over the UK and this has to be rated as one of the worse is been in.

The food is great and the service is quick.

Waited well over an hour for food to be delivered. When it arrived it was cold, ordered garlic naan and was given something completely different which was burnt in some places and doughy in others. The rice and curry had pools of water in the bottom. The Korma didn't even taste like Korma. Extremely dissatisfied, do not recommend.

The proprietor was pleasant and the dining room spotlessly clean. It’s beautifully decorated with furniture from India. The menu was North Indian. I wanted so many things, but finally decided on paneer tikka masala. A papadum with homemade chutnies appeared and were delicious. The meal was correctly spiced and marvelous. The food was as beautifully presented as it was delicious. The service was superb. As I am on holiday, I won’t have the opportunity to return, but I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. It was a fine dining experience.

Very disappointing. Suddenly added £4 to the meal for 2 menu. Why? Also, not on the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Again, why? Really have gone down in my estimation.

Really good food for sit in and recently delivery thanks to Covid19. Prices and portions are good and very tasty. We ended up fighting over the last bit of naan to finish off the tasty sauces. Delightful from first bite to the last. Craig

Ordered a take away last night @ 17.40 Restaurant is approximately 3 miles from my home but as we all had a few beers couldn't collect. If I had called an Indian takeaway from say Carlisle and they left 15 mins after I had called they would have got to my home at approximately the same time as the one I ordered from Delhi Darbar. 19.50 As you would assume when it arrived everything was cold so basically we got a reheated curry. Food was ok but cannot recommend takeaway service. No idea what sit in would be like and not likely to find out in the forseable future When it arrived most of it was cold

I am editing this review. Two years ago probably was the best curry outside the southside of Glasgow. Been eating here and getting take outs for some time and the food is not only excellent, but consistent... two years ago. Not any more. Ordered the paneer Makhani .... was not makhani sauce .... it was a tasteless Korma.

The best Indian food in the area by far. We often use them for family get togethers and the food is always superb. Friendly staff high standard. Extensive menu. Highly recommended for sit in or take away.

Exvellent food reasonable prices

Have been visiting here regularly for over 30 years. Whilst it has gone into decline somewhat over the past year or 2. We continued to visit out of a sense of loyalty to Mr Singh, who does not seem to be around anymore. Visited tonight early evening and no other customers in and had to wait several moments for the waiter yo appear. Firstly the over powering smell of dampness in the air. The shutters in the room were closed and it was dark. The table we sat at when I pulled the chair out it had virty stains on it. I was wearing white trousers and sat on the next one not so dirty looking. Ordered a bottle of Australian Chardonnay. The waiter returned and poured 2 glasses and returned it to the wine chiller. I tasted it and it was not Chardonnay. Looked St the bottle and it was an Italian trebbiana. I spoke to the waiter and he said I haven't hot what you asked for. He should have told me this before he duped me with something I did not ask for. He did not offer to take it back or offer me another choice. I did not drink anymore and brought the bottle home with me. So I was charged for a bottle of wine I didn't ask for. The food was as good as usual. But the waiter was aiseranle rude man. I doubt I shall return. Good bye Delhi Darbar . it has really gone from being one of the best eateries in Dumbarton to a shadow of its former self. Mr Singh and his family would be sad to know this.

Un peu à l'écart et très discret, ce restaurant indien est délicieux. Le personnel très aimable nous a offert 2 entrées, les prix sont en dessous de ce qui se fait en France pour des plats que j'ai considéré au dessus du lot. J'ai pris un cheese naan (très grand et délicieux), un poulet tandoori & du riz simple. Tout était parfait.

Food was excellent, decor was lovely. I don't understand why it was so empty. Maybe it was just the lovely day and hot weather keeping people away. We will be back here as the food is up there with the best

Already posted on Facebook food was great had lemon chicken dish on first page very good wife had a spicy lamb dish we shared nann was excellent. Pops and a complimentary pickle thing was okay no lime pickle but for free. and it was good. They also brought us a chicken tandoori starter for free. Cobra was cold and they even offered a free drink. Will call next time we are up here loved it and so did the wife.

Had an excellent meal. Pakora, garlic and coriander nan, massive Egyptian kebab with tikka chicken, mushroom, peppers and onions. First class for quality and price.

I have been a customer for more than 30 years and it is still one of the best indian restaurants in the west of scotland. I now live 200 mls away and a visit to the Delhi is a must when I am in the area.

If this allowed i would give no stars to this claptrap of a take away. I called in 40 minutes after placing my order, i was then advised my order had left 5 minutes ago. Uppon phoning up again and being greeted by a young chap who had no apparent empathy for my frustation he muttered have you not recieved it yet, i replied no i have been waiting 1 hour. He then assured me he would phone the driver and ask him for an update, He hung up the phone on me. I recieved a call back straight away, i was told the driver was on his way stright to me, i accepted his apology and waited. Another 20 minutes. I called back and demanded to cancel as i was understandably, ragin. The phone was passed to who i asume was the manager on shift who did not appologise once, I demanded again to cancel, the man then said "no you not cancel I phone driver", I replied no this is unacceptable, he then forgot what order was mine, reminding him i ordered a set meal for 2 and onion bhajis there was the driver showed up at the door, i told the driver i no longer want the order, he said i totaly understand and i could not fault him. I waited a total of 1 hour and 30 minutes for this bearing in mind this takeaway is a smudge over a mile away from my house. Disgusted.

Excellent flavoursome food and good prices. Have eaten my way through the menu and not had a bad word to say about a meal yet.

Mushroom puree is the best anywhere. Sometimes have to wait a while on orders, hence only 4/5.
