Today got jalabi and hanshi halwa. Jalabi tasted like sweet fish batter. It was thick as a finger, just about dipped in the sweet fluid and taste HORRIBLE. The Habshi Halwa, do not remotely taste like the original ones. It was oily sweet plum of something.

This was famous across UK for its Jelebi but they started going downhill. So they passed it on to new management. The new staff and management are no better and in some respects are worse. The older staff serving on front counter are awfully slow at service, you end up feeling sorry for them. The price of their core product Jalebi has skyrocketed. Its only made of flour, sugar syrup and throw in cost of gas and wages. But such a high rise in price? I think other contenders in that area might get a visit from me. They also sell asian sweets which are reasonable quality but again, very overpriced. A big warning - stay away from their spicy snacks like samosas, pakoras etc; they are absolutely awful. Recently whilst I was there for jalebi I was feeling a bit peckish and asked for a portion of chicken samosas; what a mistake. The samosas were malformed with hardly any shape, the stuffing was more or less raw. You couldnt even look at it never mind it. Had to throw the samosas in the bin at the back car park. These guys have ready made customers for jalebi and running on the past business name. But they are treating their customers with contempt and disrespect. They will soon see falling footfall.

A much needed update sees this place become much more customer friendly and accessible to those who aren't that familiar with the range of sweets of old (and new!). The range of sweets is much wider with information on displace, the service is more engaging (they talk through the choices and recommendations more) and everything feels and seems totally fresh. What is also great about this place, is that they've retained the traditional sweets and kept the quality and authentic recipes of old - so it's not lost the magic. While I've known many of the places on Wilmslow Road for over 40 years - what I do know is that the sweets from here tasted much fresher and richer in flavour (and I don't mean content of sugar), than Sanam a couple of doors down - which always used to be the benchmark for sweets. Well done guys, wishing you every success for the future - this will be my default 'go to' place for sweets going forward.

This place has been going for as long as I can remember. Possibly 40 years. Any British Asian Mancunian will tell you that this is the only place to go to eat this delicious pudding. The staff are friendly and happy to make the Jalebi infront of you and serve it fresh. Hot Jalebis; nothing like it!Would be even better if they served tea served Indian style. The rest of the sweets available are unremarkable however.

I used to live in Rusholme and visited Delhi occasionally to get hot jalebi. My personal favourite is Kamraan's in Rochdale but this is a close second. Jalebi here are rather thick, with a golden colour rather than orange. They are best eaten hot, and due to the thickness they hold a lot of syrup, which will leak out of the box after an hour or so.Delhi also do a range of sugar free Indian sweets which I buy for my diabetic grandmother. They are slightly more expensive than those with sugar in, but well worth it.

Located on the Famous Curry Mile, Manchester, United Kingdom the Dehli Sweet Centre and Restaurant produce the finest Jalaibi's (Pakistani and Indian Sweets) you could possibly eat. I was introduced to this restaurant at a tender age and could never imagine my birthday without a box of mitaai (sweets and Jalabi) from The Dehli Sweet Centre. The Dehli Sweet Centre and Restaurant was established 1975 by Mr. Haji Iqbal Hussain. Now semi retired can be seen front of shop during the week engaging in quality control (basically tasting the sweets) and serving his loyal customers. I managed to speak with him on my last visit and asked him what his favourite sweet was he coyly smiled and said all of them. :)If you happen to be in the area you must go and try their extensive range of Pakistani desserts and take time to watch the specially trained staff fry a fresh batch of Jalaibi's especially for you. What are Jalaibi's are I hear you say?Jalebi's sometimes spelt Jalaibi's are sweets made of a coil of batter fried and steeped in syrup. The Dehli Sweet Centre's Jalaibi's are made from a secret family recipe.http://www.delhisweetcentre.co.uk/If you click on the link above you will be able to visit the page where all the sweets are listed. If Pakistani sweets are not for you then I recommend the Puree and Choley (small fried Roti's and Chick Peas) during the weekend. Vegetarian and non Veg Samosa's, Namak Parey, Nihari or Lamb Shanks is another favourite. The management also specialise in speciality cakes and diabetic sweets. The restaurant caters for weddings, functions and special parties. Please call in for a menu and ask the experienced friendly staff for their recommendations. Please remember to take cash with you as sometimes I have found their chip and pin machine has been out of use. Expect to pay 4-5 pounds for a kilo of Jalaibi's and between 5.50-9.00 pounds for larger boxes and quantities of half a kilo or more.Open daily from around 11pm to 8pm.Avoid Eid festivals, Eid ul Fitr celebrated after the month of Ramadhan and Eid ul Adhaare fashionably chaotic and Wilmslow Road is cordoned by Police and public transport is limited.Parking is challenging any time of year as there are no parking bays or disabled facilities near the restaurant.Wheelchair and pushchair access is limited. There are no toilets. This is an authentic family owned business who take pride in the quality and presentation of their food and business. For more information email sales@dehlisweetcentre.org.uk137, Wilmslow Rd, Rusholme, Manchester M14 5AW. Tel: 0161 257 2893 Simply the best Jalaibi's and Namak Parey I have ever eaten although I do believe their a certain sweet shop in Birmingham that specialises in Jalaibi's too. Strictly not for diabetics or those who watch their figures.I on the other hand am a Jalabi fan for life!

They need to stop scamming people with different prices. They say one price and then start charging more. Ruined the experience for me. Rude servers and took a long time to bring food too. Started speaking in a different language when confronted about the price increase to get their story right. Do not recommend at all.
