My daughter and other customers were waiting to get served as the staff were chit chatting in the kitchen, eventually my daughter shouted is this self service, they came out and took her order .Dirty plates on tables and dirty tables. Food was ok.

Awful, awful, awful, filthy dirty, tables unclean, rude staff and left waiting to be served, then shouted at to go get drinks, when we were 5 steps away from the till

Quiet as it was , very courteous service THANK YOU and a very nice cranberry twist x2.

There has been a lot of improvement in the cafe over the last few weeks. As a regular, I have noticed the cafe looks and feels much cleaner and there is more choice in food. Benches at the tables could do with an update. Good value for what you pay.

I don't know why. There used to be a very good cafe in the old Range, in Exeter. Nice cakes, fresh sandwiches and fresh bakery, good drinks. The new Range cafe has never taken off, I don't know why. Now cakes and biscuits are mainly mass produced, and as the cafe is normally understaffed, the tables rarely get cleared or cleaned. Maybe it's all because the robin family who were resident in the old Range cafe, and used to feed their chicks from under the tables got left behind?

Went for lunch ordered 2 fish and chips with mushy peas.Had to wait 45mins for what I can only describe as the worse meal out we have had in a very long time.The fish was burned and dried up and the chips and mushy peas were stone cold.One restarant to really avoid.

A really bad service today. Got the order wrong and when asked if there was menu was informed short staffed and not cooking anything today, the server had a really bad attitude. Asked for a cream tea but no strawberry jam as had ran out. Didn't serve the toastie in a nice way at all. Even had to get my own saucer for the coffee. Then the workers were very vocal and shut the shop, saying they were not doing any more. It was only 13:10. Swearing in the kitchen could be heard and not a great atmosphere at all. Very disappointed today.

AVOiD!!! Long wait of 40 minutes and when the food reached our table was luck warm, tasteless and dried up Never tasted something so disgusting in my life ! Literally not for for human consulting !!

Waited 50 minutes for breakfast. Appalling customer service from older woman on till with short hair, she walked away when I asked about the wait for food, and she clearly did not know how to function the till to a good standard, and she was rude to other members of staff. Don’t hire people who can’t provide decent customer service and who can’t even provide a service. We’d been parked for an hour already so we had to get a refund as we had other places to be. A family sat near us had the same experience, whilst another couple who ordered after both of us had received their food within minutes of finding a seat. Day out wasted waiting for food, extremely disappointing. The only help we received was from the younger staff making hot drinks, the two women (one with short hair, other with purple hair) on till barely gave us eye contact and were of no help. Sort your staff out.

Perfect little spot to have a catch up with friends. Staff friendly and polite and Georgia was especially helpful when I felt unwell. Went above and beyond thank you Georgia.

Join the queue when fully hydrated. You'll be completely dehydrated by the time you get served, and then you'll really appreciate the drink.

Popped in for a drink with my young daughter -.I'm a bit of people watcher 🙈 the assistant manager was shocking spoke down to the young staff every time she spoke, even if they had done something wrong being rude in front customers is not professional. Front of house is meant to be warm and inviting her daggers at her staff were not! I felt bad for every member of staff working that day! Salted caramel frappe was nice though! (Made by a lady with purple hair)

Served promptly but 20 mins later there were still 11 tables needed clearing despite not being at all busy. One member of staff so lack lustre in enthusiasm, was finding any other possible task to do other things than clear the tables- even walked past 3 that needed clearing on his way back from delivering a drink. 4 staff working today at time of visit (14.15) so no excuse!!!!!

One star is about half a star too many for this place. It was dead quiet in the cafe area although busy in the store so with the benefit of hindsight I imagine locals know how bad this cafe is and avoid going there. As there was only a small queue we assumed we would be able to order and get our lunch quickly. We were wrong on both counts - the one lady serving us was painfully slow and very dour. There was a young lad working behind the counter although I cannot say what he was actually doing, certainly not serving anyone. We did eventually manage to order our lunch although unless you want a jacket potato, which we didn't, or a ready made sandwhich you are very limited in what you can have. We opted for a chicken curry and rice a southern fried chicken burger with chips. We weren't expecting it to be amazing and it lived up to that. The chips were dire - how can you cook chips so that you burn the ends of them, have the outsides so hard you struggle to get a fork into them and yet they be just like dry powder on the inside? I don't know - by they managed to do just that. The chicken piece in the burger looked very sad and grey but to be fair it did taste OK. But after the length of time we waited for it I was grey too. A lady sitting on the next table to me told me to check my cutlery before using it as she says it usually needs cleaning - she wasn't wrong! Suffice to say I will not be returning here.

Got served by a lovely very happy lady I asked her name it was tasha.she said she was new.bit wouldn't of known as very good at what she does. so polite and helpful very fast service will definitely be back.

Rude service, very dry bland food, no wifi. Why would a cafe manager not train staff to be friendly and polite? A smile costs nothing. It makes no sense…

Never again. The queue was horrendous. When I finally got to be served the young man on the till made a mistake. I ordered black coffees and he ordered Cappuccinos so had to wait for them again. Also ordered bacon rolls which arrived in a large bun with a scraping of butter under the bacon but the top half of the roll had no butter. 2 small slices of bacon which were lost in the roll. As for the coffee it was weak and not overly hot. Overpriced and not a pleasant experience. Looking at the reviews this seems a common problem. Also agree that there were 5 staff but no sign of urgency to get the queue sorted. Will never go there again.

Most awful cafe ever! People queuing for ages waiting to be served and when finally served and sit down you’ll be waiting years even just for a drink because they ‘forget’. What kind of service is that. Food tasted foustey, ordered a costa frappe and tastes nothing like what i asked for also tasted foustey. And the lady with purple hair had no manners and looked like she couldn’t be arsed to do anything. Everything looked like an effort. Never going again. Needs to be shut down!

Very slow service, long queue. Miserable staff and food basic. No choice of cakes, fridge for toastie sandwiches dark and no descriptions. of what’s in them. No cutlery or napkins. Will not be going again. Seriously gone downhill!

5 members of staff working... 1 person serving and making the drinks. The rest were standing around pretending to look busy! About 8 people in the queue and they did not even flinch to help the one person on the till. The tables were dirty. The counter was FILTHY. Really poor hygiene. In desperate need of a new manager. I was with my mother and son just stopping for a drink before we had a shop around the range but the dreadful service put me off so we left and went next door to Dunelm!

Long queue. Many items not available. Does the management of this place not understand how to order supplies?? Understaffed... foul tasting coffee. Breakfast baps look nothing like the advertisement outside. This place is awful.

Really run down and miserable atmosphere, 'sausages baps' where just some sausages on a bit of white bread. Veggie options out of stock, warm water served in a salty glass. Safe to say there is good reason why its empty on a saturday.

Was recommended this cafe so gave it a try. Worst sandwich I have ever had ! We had the fish finger bloomer - it was bloomin terrible ! Limp white bread, hardly any spread, a smattering of lettuce and no relish. The cafe had no tartare or horseradish sauce which may have , just possibly, disguised the awfulness. The coffee was nice but we shall never return .

AVOID!! Queued for ages as same lady that takes the order then does the drinks! Didn't have half the menu as well as no cream for hot chocolate and condiments. Food was disgusting and barely edible, staff are rude.

Food was cold and took a long time to come. Very disappointed overall. Cheese and tomato toastie was cheese with tomato puree spread on the bread.

El caballero frente a mí pidió un café y un bollo que le sirvieron, pero como el bollo estaba bastante exagerado, casi se chamuscó, le preguntó a la señora de mediana edad (que creo que puede ser la directora) si lo cambiaría y ella le arrebató el plato fuera de su bandeja dándole una mirada sucia y luego colocó el bollo de nuevo en la exhibición y sacó otro para colocarlo en el mismo plato y lo golpeó en su bandeja ¡todavía dándole el mal de ojo! ! ¡Ella fue muy grosera! Había muchas mesas sucias que no se habían limpiado y limpiamos nuestra propia mesa con una toallita sanitaria porque no parecía muy limpia. Después de haber estado de pie durante demasiado tiempo comprando con mi hija, necesitaba sentarme (enfermedad crónica) y divisar el café. Visité The Range con mi novia el 19 de enero. Large sized family cafe, conveniently located in the Range store, serving a variety of basic hot meals, sandwiches, cakes and beverages. There is plenty of seating, rest room facilities, everywhere clean & tidy, the service experienced on our visit was good from the friendly staff and most of the cafe offers window seating with outside views. Is a useful addition to the store and there is a huge car park with timed free parking.

Chipped crockery stained around the cup handles ,had to use wet wipes on the table before we sat down.Surprised that the range and Costa want to be associated with this sub standard operation

Went in with my mum had 2 toasties and 2 coffees the toasties were dry and tasteless and the coffees were undrinkable. Place was filthy really awful customer service avoid at all costs.

Stopped for some lunch with my daughter. Half the things on the menu including filter coffee weren’t available, queues long because no signs were up saying food was unavailable and people had to keep going back to their families to ask what else they wanted. We waited just under 25 minutes for 2 jacket potatoes. Mine was tepid, the coleslaw was so cheap and nasty and my daughter had cheese and ham which I’m not joking the portion would fit on a dessert spoon. The place was unkempt and thoroughly grim. I most definitely will not be returning!

Dropped in while in the area as needed a quick drink and snack. Poor choice of Sandwiches. People in our party have dietary restrictions. Not one vegan item that we could see. Also only gluten free option was squashed ‘Honey Bees’ slices. You found these in cafes 5 years ago as a token option. Most places these days have fresh options available too. The till server wasn’t willing to offer info on drink sizes and was just rushing us through. The saucers were dirty the cutlery was even worse.

£5 for 2 decaf coffees that were made with instant coffee!!!! If we were told fair enough. Never again!!!!

Very poor two dirty cups and answer was stained but had lipstick mark on ones.

My boyfriend and I decided to stop at this cafe whilst shopping at the range, we wanted to “treat ourselves”. What a mistake!! What the heck is this for a “ham and cheese toastie”, the cheese tasted awful and the ham! Where is the ham!? I would have gotten better quality in a dairylea lunchable snack pot! We stood waiting for one person to have their order taken for 15 minutes and when we finally got our order taken, there was only one person doing everything until someone else finally came out but instead of helping, stood to the side messing around. The toasties were sat with no cover and looked stale as anything, I don’t even know why we ordered them, what a waste! The cakes were ridiculously processed, no way were they homemade!! They were dense and tasted awful! Thank god for costa coffee being served there because that’s the only thing we enjoyed! But that’s a complete different brand! The tables and floor were dirty and not being cleaned even though the cafe was practically empty apart from us and 2 other couples. Will NOT be going there again, we get better food and service from the burger van outside! We paid £20 for this awful “meal”, not impressed at all, we don’t like complaining so this shows just how bad this was!

Visited here midweek while out shopping at The Range etc. I have reviewed previously, however on this recent visit was so disappointed am reviewing again. It was very busy with pre-Xmas shoppers which really should be no excuse. The cafe was a mess, dirty & disorganised. All the food on display looked as if it was well beyond their sell by dates!!!!Will not visit again

Went to have a coffee with a friend on Saturday, what a big mistake! I watched and observed in horror, while queuing, the chaotic filthy conditions and disorganised team of staff. The cake stands and their lids were filthy, finger prints and dirt all over them. One member of staff serving was wearing a blue glove on her left hand and serving with the right hand which was not covered and had open wounds, at least two visible, on her hand!! She then proceeded to clear tables, spraying on chemicals and wiping, in a fashion, the filth from the tables. The member of staff in question then returned behind the counter and carried on serving, still wearing one glove, never changed it and didnt even wash her hands before continuing to serve, touching food etc!! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! The cutlery was disgustingly dirty, the area where the cutlery and napkins are kept needed to be replenished! I could carry on complaining until the cows come home but it would appear from the reviews I have ready on line this is all a waste of time and to no avail. All complaints are falling on deaf ears. May I add that after waiting a long time and watching this appalling carry on, my friend and I left without a drink and will never return. The family of Dee Dee's should be ashamed!

Took the trouble to write a lengthy review nearly a year ago but it seems to have disappeared. What I do have is a copy, at that time, of the response from Bournemouth Council who were also informed of the poor state of the crockery and cutlery."Good Afternoon I have undertaken an unannounced visit at DeeDee’s Family Café (in The Range) following your complaint made to this department. I have also mentioned that it is alleged that this is not an isolated complaint. There was a problem with the dishwasher last week, which has now been resolved. Whilst any damaged crockery has been isolated and will not be used to service food to customers. Thank you for bringing your complaint to our attention to allow and investigation to take place."The attached photos (just two examples) show hardly any change in standards and also show the items still looking like they are rinsed in dirty water.

9th Oct 2018 in the afternoon wanted drinks. Two assistants stood and chatted to their friends whilst I waited to get served. I was in their sight but they continued chatting even when they decided to serve me. Not impressed with the service at all. They were so rude. To the point where I almost walked away.

Dirty cutlery. Dirty cups and glasses. Brought wrong food and had no apology. Had to wait another 15 minutes. Tables filthy. Just not nice in there. Used to be a lovely cafe. Such a shame

Popped into have a quick lunch break , ordered 2 x Smokey Ham n Cheese Jacket potatoes - bad mistake !!Asked if I’d like salad with them which I said yes please to then be told that would be £1 extra each - still went with it , they were delivered to the table - the saddest mess of slop I’ve ever seen - the jackets were miserable, looked at least a day old, were black and wet - no crispness of the skin and no taste ! The filling was equally as dire - Cheese slop is all I can use to describe it ! The salad consisted of a few strands of lettuce a one inch chunk of old cucumber and a slice of tomato definitely not worth the extra £1 - spent £15.00 on two jackets and a cup of tea , shocking quality and won’t be back !!!

Went to bournemouth ringwood road dee dee's in the range today with my daughter and grandson, it was disgusting. The cutlery was so dirty i dont think they have EVER cleaned the dishwasher filter. Then when the girl brought out more she wiped them all with a cloth she wiped the counter with then turned and wiped the tables with the same cloth without as much as a rinse. Where do they find these staff..........

So Sponsored by costa?, do they do Grind and dose checks? I don't think they do, there is no organisation of stations, who's doing what, one person on till one on coffee then all of a sudden no one in site for 2 minutes, some management direction is needed in this business. The poor staff look like they haven't go a clue if they are coming or going, what training programs do you offer them here as they need to be better in all aspects from Guest service to Making the product.

I have visited this cafe on many occasions but the standards seem to have dropped and my last few visits have been disappointing. I went there this morning and ordered a coffee and piece of cake. The cake was expensive for the very small piece I got. The cutlery didn't look clean and my cup was stained and a bit crusty on the rim! The staff were friendly enough and it was quiet so I didn't have the normal wait to be served. I was shocked to see how dirty the floor ledge was on the other side of the glass panel. I was there early and I don't think that had happened in the two hours it had been opened, it obviously hadn't been cleaned that morning. I took a photo of the section by me but it was far worse further along. There is a good selection of food available and the cafe has a great view over the shop and is a nice place to take a break, however more attention needs to be paid to cleanliness and standards please.

had 30 mins to wit for the tills to open at the range derby so used dee dee's cafe asked for a bacon cob and got a sandwich with hard dry cold bacon ,and a cup of tea, it cost £4.60 worst waste of money i have ever spent,cob horrible and dish water would taste better than the tea,cheapest muck they could find for it , will never user again

I used to quite like this busy cafe in 'The Range" However a recent visit has left me greatly disappointed.Mid week, mid afternoon visit so the cafe was not busy. Coffee (they advertise it as Costa Coffee) was weak & insipid.Cakes for sales looked as if they had seen better days so didn't bother.Staff were ok but not that interested in their work.Um.....,not good & not sure i'll bother again.

Paid a quick visit during my lunch break. Tuna jacket potato and coleslaw. Good vale for money and good portion size. Staff very accommodating and friendly

I wish I could give it no stars! Appalling cornish pasties with maybe half a teaspoon of meat. i counted 2 pieces of maybe potato and the rest onion gravy, inedible pastry ..bore no relation to cornish pasty. Had to ask for the lattes to be filled more than 3/4 full. Horrible horrible.

Stood and waited to be served even though could hear staff out the back. Eventually my wife called out and two people came out.Took our food order and we could see that coffee machine was broken so asked for two teas. They got served in 2 different sized pots and we were given cappuccino sized Costa cups which the pot contents only filled about 3/4 each cup.Once food arrived I went to get some ketchup. The container with sachets was empty so I went back to the counter and guess what...I had to wait again. Eventually someone who I assume was the boss appeared and I got served.On both occasions no apology for being kept waiting.As for the food, average at best.

we stopped and had a panni and baked potato, both coffees ok, the panni was ok but pipping hot, the baked potato was lukewarm the tuna very cold and salad looked like it wanted reviving and wilted, plus side was we mentioned to a member of staff that the baked potato meal needed more thought into its preparation , give the assistant his due he quickly offered a refund and returned promptly with the cost of the baked potato, so good on one hand and not so good on the other , shame as we spent over £100 in the range but will pass on the cafe in the future

Three of us shopping in The Range, so Dee Dee's, on the mezzanine floor, was a nice place to pause.Easy access from the ground floor via stairs or (flat) escalator. There's a customer lift in the corner of the store too.Very nice, friendly staff. Tasty coffees, cinnamon bun and toasted tea cakes. Nothing extraordinary, but everything was fine, apart from some stains on the cutlery and most of the tables needed cleaning off. No worries though. Importantly - excellent value for money £14.45 in total.We sat down on Saturday morning at around 10.45. Plenty of space. By 11.15, it was getting really busy and there was a queue to be served - it moved quickly though, the staff doing a good job.Plenty of free car parking outside, include masses of disabled spaces. (Nice to see only genuine blue badged card there!) Get a "balcony" table, and enjoy the panoramic views over the massive ground floor area!

Popped in for a cuppa and panini but very disappointed - like someone else stated, cutlery is not in good state. Panini was like a wet dishcloth. Placing it in a microwave doesn't do it for me! Needs a good manager to make things better to check things out before being presented to the public

While shopping in the Range we decided to stop and get a quick snack and something to drink, we ordered 2 panini’s and 2 teas, we were given the tray with two stainless steel teapots and the food would follow. So I went to get a teaspoon from the cutlery area and the first thing I notice is that all the cutlery is filthy, the teaspoons are all stained and everything looks nasty, when I get to the table I then notice that both teapots look the same stained and dirty. The food is now delivered to the table on very worn and dirty looking plates, to be honest I wish we had stood out in the cold and got a burger from the van in the carpark as the food was edible but not great. At over £12 for 2 Panini’s (£4.25 each) and 2 Teas this cafe is overpriced for the service and cleanliness it is giving to its customers and would recommend it invests in some cleaning products and some new crockery and cutlery.

Stopped for a quick coffee whilst shopping for some Christmas decorations. On the plus side, the muffins were excellent (which is why the rating is a 2 and not a 1). The coffee, on the other hand, was terrible. The steam arms were not wiped after use, there was a thick layer of old milk caked on to them that had been there quite some time. Milk jugs, again, were caked in old milk. When heating milk for a caffe latte no fresh milk was used, whatever was left in the jug was just blasted with the steam arm, not only was it too hot, but the milk just tasted burnt! The portafilter was left in the machine with fresh ground coffee, but wasn't extracted once put in, burning the coffee grind before she'd even started. After all of that the coffee wasn't even full.There are no coffee standards in this cafe from what I can see, I won't be drinking here again unfortunately.

Only asked for a salad had to send it back as it wasn't fresh they gave me another salad looked exactly the same so I asked for a refund and got a pasty from a bakery down the road

Took our grandchildren into Aberdeen branch for tea and cake.Poor choice,though only 3 customers in front,the wait seemed endless.one of these customers chose soup,that had to be dished up and heated whilst we all waited.£2.25 for a sticky bun in a coffee bar in a discounted store is very overpriced.the pancakes were questionable fresh.First and last visit.With the amount of eateries in the same area ,surprising they don't try harder.The server was very pleasant.

Whilst doing some Christmas shopping at The Range, i took a break and went up the escalater to Dee Dees restauraunt, which is a family run business. It is really convenient to have somewhere to eat and drink on site! You queue to place your order fir drinks, and food. There is a good selection of sandwiches, paninis, rolls, cakes, baked potatoes, sausage rolls and pasties. Once ordered they give you a number and they bring the food to your table. You help yourself to cutlery and condiments. The tables are cleaned quickly as the restaurant is so busy, the staff are polite and professional, all in all it was a goid experience, and a much needed break from shopping!!
