Deck - The Hungarian Restaurant in Bristol, City of

My wife and I have been to Deck twice now, and both times the food and service has been exemplary. The coffee is also exceptional. Highly recommend.

Lovely cafè/restaurant, friendly service with tasty fresh food.

We came to this Hungarian style cafe at a friend's recommendation as he said that it is a nice quiet place with really nice, home made food, once we got there we were greeted by the waitress and we were allowed to choose where to sit, the menu is not loaded with options but is more then enough for everyone to be able to enjoy something of it. Me and the daughter both went for the beef goulash and my Mrs had a pan fried chicken dish, we got some home made pickles to go on the side and some water to wash it all off, the food was amazing really, portions big so you won't leave like you would need a burger or something else after but not humongous to feel overstuffed, they were just the right size, just to mention that we didn't had to wait long for the food to arrive so that's a bonus as well in my eyes, they had pudding options as well but we didn't want any as the main was enough for us! All in all, this is a great little cafe with a majority of Hungarian dishes and also a few other options as well. We will definitely return to eat here again, keep up the good work guys and keep making them great dishes 🙂

Home cooked style Hungarian fare for restaurant prices. Expensive for the execution. Not too salty but pushing the salty side of things. Tis ok

Lovely place, delicious breakfast, friendly staff.

We have been to Deck a few times and loved it every time. The food is delicious, and freshly made. When it comes out you definitely get food envy for a moment and then you taste your dish and the envy goes away! As I have been with my husband and father in law we tried each others food and it is all so tasty. The staff are super friendly and helpful when ordering dishes you don't know. Our 1 yo son loves going too for the food and the company as he loves the ladies there and looking around and people watching from the high chair. I would highly recommend, and will be going back!

Had an amazing meal at Deck, potato pancakes and beef meal was simple excellent. Really creative meals of the day and flavoured desserts. Great for a night out dinner date.

We have never had any problems but this time it was not acceptable. Old and poorly packaged food. I wouldn't even give this food to a dog

We went for lunch. There were quite a few people which is great for the business, especially after the regretful closure of the Hungarian Langos place in Bedminster.. but I felt the tables were pretty squeezed into one another. The staff was very nice and friendly. I felt that the food was slightly mediocre and the portions seemed a bit small for the price... the matcha tea was not properly made either. Two different dishes looked and tasted almost identical, and with the cake feeling a bit dry/old, I was tempted to only give 3 stars, but the spicy Hungarian pepper sauce they served with the main was so good we literally purchased 3 jars of it immediately after our lunch haha!

Really nice lunch here today! Friendly service that was attentive but not pushy and which felt genuinely friendly. Food was delicious, homely and warming and there were lots of interesting Hungarian options. Especially enjoyed the cake (a strudel with lemon cottage cheese and raisin filling)! The space is cosy with lots of natural light and good music which is not too loud. Would definitely visit again, thank you for a lovely experience! 🥰

Food was good, although nothing amazing. Big portions and the chicken liver starter (not something I'd usually choose) was very nice. Cosy warm atmosphere and service was great. Would recommend if you want authentic hungarian food

How can you claim you are THE ONLY Hungarian restaurant in Bristol? How can you put down other Hungarian restaurant, and lie to the people? When you have "inspired" menu, recipes, even decorations, EVEN opening times, from other restraunts? People are already talking about you as owner How you are going to shops and other Hungarian restraunts eating there and then try to copy them Try and be authentic. I would be ashamed running a business like you. I've ate at Saucy Dough new HUNGARIAN place , and their food, vibe, and everything else, can't be compared. Hungarians should avoid you, because of the vile way you are running your business Also, keeping the door open in cold weather makes it unpleasant to sit in and eat.

Cosy, authentic restaurant. You probably won’t know anything on the menu, but whatever you order will probably be amazing and authentic to traditional Hungarian cuisine. Would recommend making the most of the lunchtime deal where all meals are £12. Top 3 places I’ve eaten in Bristol.

Visited to have brunch. Really good selection of breakfast options with a Hungarian twist. Great portion sizes and the food was very tasty. The juices were a highlight, very fresh and healthy

I used to go there often because the food was delicious and good value but then they continued advertising pancakes with spinach and poached eggs but only served one egg. I said to the waitress that the dish used to come with two eggs and she rudely replied “well now it comes with one”. It was way to dry - three stodgy pancakes with one egg! Just increase the price to cover your costs but don’t mislead your customers and don’t employ people with zero customer services skills.

Absolute gem! If you are on Gloucester Road, it’s absolutely worth a visit! Some amazing traditional hungarian, comfort food. The most lovely waitress. A fascinating interior and overall a very cozy and warm atmosphere. For winter especially, I think it’s perfect! If I am in Bristol again, in particular in Horfiel, I will definitely want to visit again.

Great place, really good food and my fiance (who's from hungary) really enjoyed the food and made her feel at home, also the hot chocolate was probably nicest one I've had, also took 2 desserts home and loved them!

We had quite a few things on the menu. We had a light bite what could of done with a bit more salt but it was still really nice. After we had our mains I had the chicken strip and my partner had the chicken rago they were all really lovely but again I felt the rago could of done with a little bit more salt mainly the dumplings what came with. And my dish I felt like it had to much salad leaved compare to the amount of chiken but the potato and sauce with it was lovely. We also had desert and again no despondent there delicious. We be back again no question about it. Too bad they located on the other side of town from where we live it's quite the journey other wise would visit way more then probably will be doing so. Still only could recommend place looks lovely and staff is lovely and helpful, food and drink are great!!

Disappointing. Popped in for a desert and a dessert that by its definition should be creamy and soft was dry and stale. Went to pay and we automatically got charged a service charge on top of very poor quality food while hardly got any service past the food arriving at the table (i.e. no check to see if the food was ok as we'd have sent it back). Really disappointed that they charge you service charge without asking. May as well just show their prices 10% higher in the menu :/

Went for a quick lunch today, and the food was nowhere near from the one served couple of months ago. Goulash looked like a carrot soup and pork shoulder was totally tasteless. Definitely last time

Cosy comfortable cafe that serves Hungarian food as well as a selection of English meals, light snacks and drinks. I ordered the gypsy roast pork and it was exquisite. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and will be coming back.

My favourite place in Bristol. Recommended if you are hungry or just for a coffee and a cake. By the way - their cakes are just THE BEST!!!

I've been coming here on and off for a few years, I absolutely love it! The people are really nice and the food is excellent. It's great for laptop work and the coffee is delicious. It's not extortionate either, and is also a small independent business instead of a chain, so the profits remain within the local community.

What a place!! We were recommended to visit the Deck Cafe by Sandor at the Ashville Steak House, and my oh my was he right!! If you fancy something a little different I would 100% urge you to visit. The food, service and even the drinks were all exceptional. I can't wait to visit again! Thank you so much for a great evening 😘

Great little gem on Gloucester Road - does cafe breakfasts/brunches, fresh cakes/pastries and also would highly recommend all the Hungarian specials. I try something new each time I come and am never disappointed. Staff are amazing and food is delicious. I believe its 2-4-1 Thursdays as well!

Not just excellent Hungarian food. Speaking as someone who's had breakfast at just about every cafe on Gloucester Road, they also have one of the very best English breakfasts.

Cute and rustic cafe. Affordable prices which is great. I went for breakfast with a few friends and the food was just ok. Pancakes were a bit bland. The Americano coffee I ordered was watery. The fresh juice however was delicious. Definitely my favourite part of the meal. I would like to go back and try their dinner menu.

Food os fresh and amazing they have plenty of gluten free option!

The beef goulash was extremely fresh and light and unexpected. I have had goulash previously, German goulash with thick sauce, but this one is different. it is soupy, light, fresh, nice for a hot summer day or cold winter night. If you like something spicy, ask for their Hungarian pepper paste. Chicken chiabatta was good as well, but the star was the goulash.

Met a friend for brunch. Very tempted by the Hungarian food but had a full English breakfast which was good value served by cheerful, friendly staff. Would go there again.

Great selection of traditional and more modern Hungarian meals, desserts, wines. The staff is nice and welcoming. The café itself is situated on a busy street , with some seats available outside. Prices are reasonable and the ingredients are good quality. I would highly recommend this spot for a lunch or tea.

I am Hungarian and live in Newport, but they food is so good it is worth the travel! I had the Beef stew (Marha pörkölt) because it is so well done and delicious made with nokedli. Also the selection of home made Hungarian cakes is amazing 😍 I am very grateful for this place in Bristol I always feel at home when I go there. The service is very friendly and welcoming too.
