The fish was fantastic the batter really good but the chips were awful it seems like they were re fried many times.

Not only does Deb take allergies seriously and cater for this but also SEN needs. Both my boys struggle with texture but Deb goes above and beyond to make sure they enjoy their food and will eat it, the little tweaks to our order makes such a difference especially with Deb being so busy this isn't too much for her and her team. Thank you, it's lovely to have a treat that we enjoy 😊

Me and my boyfriend just ordered tonight and the food was incredible! Deb was so lovely and helpful with any changes needed, the portion sizes blew us away with how much we had! Overall our favourite takeaway place as of now 🥰

“Debs” is the rudest individual, ended our order with “hope karma gets you”. No way to run a business with comments like that. We rang up thinking we rang another fish and chip we then realised we rang one 30miles away. We rang up to apologies and she was the least unforgiven person. Most people wouldn’t even bother ringing to apologise and she was so rude. Maybe if she’d been an inch politer we may have been able to pay something towards it.

Had a GF fish and chips the fish was over done and dried the fish out don't get me wrong a like a crispy batter but just a bit to much but apart from that the rest of the stuff was lovely, not greasy, I will give it another try tho, everybody needs a second chance

This is my go to fish&Chip shop , the food is normally of great quality and large portions, last nights order was 4 large cod and 2 large chips with 3 pots of curry sauce, like I said its normally wonderfully cook fish and great chips...not sure if the oils was to hot but the fish inside the batter was nice but the batter was very hard to the point I had to really break it open with a knife and was unpleasant and tuff to chew and the chips looked over cooked on the outside and the inside hard at the centre.

Debs is the best in town. Excellent food, proper portions that make you sweat when you see them and a great team. Deb really pulls it all together for a massive win. Tad cramped inside if a few people are waiting however. Prices recently went up but without having updated displays.

Deb's Fish & Chips is in my opinion the best in Rushden. We are regulars so that says a lot. The range is great and it is cooked to order for you. The atmosphere can be a bit manic due to number of delivery orders that are dealing with. The volume of those orders tells you that a lot of people agree with us!

Really disappointed with our dinner just now. I ordered the gourmet burger thinking it would be a better standard of burger, no, it was mainly gristle and even the cat turned her nose up at it. The halloumi fries were pretty naff too. My wife enjoyed herself battered sausage, fishcake and chips so that's something at least. Very expensive for not a lot.

When you walk in it’s pure chaos, staff shouting orders at each other and the smell of burnt over used oil. Should have just left it at that point and not bothered. Food was so oily, literally disgusting. No stars if I could.

The fish and chips was very good portion sizes and the fish was big and battered nicely. The chips are made fresh from potato and wasn’t over greasy. I look forward to placing my next order with this place. Highly recommend.

What a mistake being drawn by the local adverts ! Went for fish and chips after spending a few days at the seaside quick tea. Walked in to order there were at least 8 staff on the premises who were too busy talking about sun beds and gossiping about causing trouble on Facebook. Was told that the 1 young lady on the phone would take my order in a minute. I waited at least 5 minutes for this call to end. Could not one of the other staff take my order ? One had the dirtiest top on bearing the Debs Fish bar logo it looked like she had been wearing it all week. My order was taken I did notice that sat on top of the counter from my arrival were 2 bagged orders they were sat there till just before I left a good 20 mins, I thought I feel sorry for those people that had ordered for delivery because they weren't kept warm just sat getting cold. The woman in the dirty top then announced 20 min later that the fish was ready while holding 2 pieces and shaking the fat off them all over the place ! I wasn't asked if I would like salt or vinegar I didn't even know it was my order until the girl behind the counter had already wrapped and sealed it. Then she said to one of the numerous members staff who were doing nothing that the order was for me. I.E I was described as the woman who is stood behind you. Very shoddy service I will not be returning. My advice would be do not order from here for delivery if you want hot food. Also do do not order at all if they cannot arrive to work in clean uniform surely the place cannot be that clean. Bed sheets hung at the window should be an indication. Horrendous experience not to be repeated. The food was average at best if you like grease. Avoid !

Really disappointed with the good rated fish bar. The prices are higher than on the menu. When a refund was asked for, they refused as the food had already been cooked. Our bill ended to be £10 more expensive. It was the first and last time we went there. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was told she was the daughter and she asked me to leave the premises. I wish I could give 0 stars for the false advertisement. The explanation was the prices went up, but we haven't updated our menu yet. I had to ask specifically for a till receipt, as the only receipt given was the card one. By the way it is a criminal offence to advertise wrong prices.

I'm gluten free and the reason we order from Debs is its just so good. However the last 2 weeks have been very disappointing. The GF chips this week were hard and dark brown and tasted like the oil wasnt changed. Also they had fish batter scraps in them which i could only hope was GF scraps.The GF burger ....roll was fab loved it but the burger was tasteless. I will give Debs another chance.....3rd time lucky...I just hope this is a blip as we love the place.

A great lady who runs the place..... I use to be her posty and often we collected the 2 pounds lunchtime special. Excellent food and they also deliver too.

Good to see a new business but not sure it's got it's message or identity right. Have had no issues with service and the portion sizes are generous and the food tastes good. I'm not sure the ice-cream thingnworksfor me personally with a chippy but maybe it's a USP. Fish was nice the chips were good but was so disappointed to find they are not fresh but from a packet :( there is what has killed it for me. Interesting that it's all women working there again nice little social experiment maybe, friendly but as discussed by others organised madness. Busy always busy which is a sign they must be doing some things right but with so many others in the area that are good I would like to see them refine the product and deliver exceptional food. Parking is a nightmare, bit of a double edged sword for it's location Will I go back probably is it my first choice probably not but good luck to them all the same..

Went in to order fish and chips and got turned away cause they had a big order on. So obviously they should of put the closed sign up and not let anyone in but no they would rather turn away paying customers what a load of rubbish uses to be the best chippy in rushden now I think it's the worse

Good quality fish and chips, they are set up to be able to cater for those who require gluten free options which is also of a high quality at very reasonable prices. The staff are very knowledgeable and very helpful

One star is generous Staff member extremely rude, waited 30 minutes just for a piece of fish. Georgia the server told me that’s how my Mum wants it so don’t bother coming again. Food quality was very poor, staff in filthy uniforms. Vile Place was a complete shambles, shame as previous interaction with owner was excellent.

Easily the best fish and chips in Rushden. Also the best priced as well. This is my new chippy. One I will keep coming back to!

Only the 3rd gluten free option I've visited in Northamptonshire and 6th globally but by far the nicest, delicious!

Our previous order was incorrect, this time we ordered 4 fish and 2 chips for 5.00pm which arrived at 5.25pm after 2 phone calls for them to say " its on its way " we must have been the last of 6 or more deliveries as the chips were stone cold, and greasy as the fish is placed on top of the chips, the fish was slightly warm with the batter dripping in grease, it must have come out of the fryer and straight into the box. With so much grease, visually appalling, disgusting taste and texture its simply inedible garbage. I should have read the review by tracethereader I could not agree more. Avoid and eat somewhere else

First visit and very impressed. Staff friendly and helpful. Chips lovely not greasy. Although didn’t try a sweet treat this time will definitely try one soon.

Great local chippy, serving an extra portion of care! Stopped here on Friday evening, as we had visitors from abroad who wanted the fish and chip experience and we needed a gluten free option. Deb’s fish bar did not disappoint! Gluten free cod and haddock tasted almost exactly the same as the regular gluten ones. When ordering and needing a little extra advice and help service went above and beyond, even though it was during the Friday evening rush. Also saved us money as we would have massively over ordered. Portions were enormous. Personally, I preferred the cod over the haddock as the haddock still had the skin on, but that is 100% personal preference.

Absolute chaos if you visit in person. There’s no streamlined system, and no matter where you stand you’re in the way. People arriving to order have to stand where people are being served, and it just feels disjointed. They seem to give priority to deliveries, and the organisation of this takes place front of house, which takes up lots of space as they are obsessively stapling each bag shut. There also seems to be lots of people behind the counter not knowing what each person is doing. The staff are very friendly, but if only they put as much effort into the actual service procedure, it would be a much calmer and speedier experience. It felt tense and stressful in there. The food was ok. The chips were good, but the fish batter was overly greasy, as was the floor I was stood on.

What an experience with Deb's Fish Bar!! I have had previous orders from here that have gone wrong but haven’t written anything on Social media about them before as in truth even though there has been some decidedly bad meals , A horrendous excuse for a waffle which look like a pancake run over by a car tyre!! Wrong orders four times!! Completely inedible chips which have basically been so covered in Grease and soggy it was impossible to eat them…So okay we didn’t order chips from there anymore!! Even a piece of blue plastic inside the batter around the fish - we didn’t make a big song and dance about!!! We simply let them know and were told it was from the packaging!! Well thank God for that because if I’m going to choke on something when I eat my dinner it’s good to know it’s just from the packaging!! I do actually have photos of all of these things because I tend to photograph things when something makes me laugh when I’m really gobsmacked by the state of it!! But overall,they’ve been friendly and the one thing that has always been good was the fish!! On two occasions that wasn’t the case and it was virtually all batter with greasy fish inside making it almost in edible, Photos of which I sent them so that they knew what had gone wrong along with a message explaining that I wasn’t being horrible I was just letting them know, the manager sent me a lovely message back in return telling me I could just have 20% off my next order which I thought was very kind!! HOWEVER!! I ordered from them tonight on UberEats because I had a code and scheduled the order for between 6..30 and 6.45 knowing that this would give us time to eat before we had to get on and do things. At 6:45 the order wasn’t here so I called the shop and was told they were incredibly busy but the order has gone out I would be here by 7 pm. 710 still no order! 7.20 still no order so called again and now told the order has been delivered according to the driver!! Which of course it hasn’t been!! So they would refund my order or create a new one? Obviously that late at night I wasn’t going to say yes please create a new order knowing that it then wouldn’t be arriving until even later still!   We don’t place massive orders even though we order quite a lot food from them between us quite a few of those orders have not been great, but because they put sausages in for the dogs and whatnot and the fish ordinarily has been good we have been continuing to use them!! Unbelievably The woman on the phone proceeded to tell me they will not take any further orders from me because they can’t fulfil our needs!! When have you ever heard of any food place banning you from ordering from them as a result of their f@ck ups?????!!!!!! Very disappointed to say the least totally gobsmacked by the mentality . Basically if you’re going to order from there be prepared to accept the wrong orders without saying anything, wait for over an hour for your food to maybe or maybe not arrive, May or may not be edible when it arrives or it may not arrive at all even though they will tell you that it has!! I have never gone out of the way to shame them or create any difficulty for them publicly, I have sent them photographs of the disgusting food that wasn’t just so that they could see for themselves what they had sent out and I’m not going to post those pictures here today because that isn’t what this post is about. I think it’s safe to say that the phrase good customer service has gone out of the window with these people which I would not have said yesterday after having received such a lovely message from the owner. Absolutely appalling behaviour from a business that I would have recommended to people but certainly would not again!  To add insult to injury believe it or not I just had one of the delivery drivers come to the door and try to insist that I pay for food that never actually got delivered to me this evening!!! Apparently the delivery driver went back with a ticket telling them she had delivered it to me i’m so now they thought I was lying on top of everything else!!!! You Actually couldn’t make this up!!!!!🤦🏻‍♀️

I cannot give this place enough stars! I was very impressed with the quality of the food. The fish was fluffy and tender with such gorgeous batter. I don't know how the team at Debs fish bar do it, but please keep it up! Even the friendliest of each and every staff member, despite being so busy they were all so happy to chat to us and make us feel so welcomed when waiting for our food. You can tell they all look out for each other, and shows a nice working environment. We will definitely be back for more delicious food! Thank you all at Debs fish bar for such a great service all round, it is greatly appreciated by us!!

Debs Fish Bar is probably the best takeaway food outlet in the world. In fact, if Carlsberg owned takeaways, this would be the jewel in the crown. Not only is the food plentiful, but it is cooked to order and not left to sit around in a hot cupboard. Couple that with and extensive menu and just about the best staff (including the frying pixie!) and it is no wonder this place is at the top of the tree. Debs herself is great, seemingly unflappable and tolerates fat, balding old men (me!) well. It should be a treat, but becomes difficult to resist at any time.

Ordered a while ago on Just Eat. Chips were cold 🥶. You have to wait outside if your order is not ready which is not good on cold day. They’ve opened up a dessert place which I’m looking forward to trying across the road. This very well priced.

Awesome chippy this one! Great variety of fish, always cooked fresh to order. Their gluten free batter is outstanding. So many ice creams to choose from, and freshly made crepes and waffles if you have room for dessert.

This was the first time we have been to Deb's as e don't live in rushden. The food we ordered was prepared quickly and tasted nice 4 meals at a reasonable price. 2 large chips was enough for 4 people. There are parking bays on the road close to the shop for parking. We didn't have any of the ice cream from the other side of the shop but it was in Kelly's tubs and Kelly's is always delicious

Debs fish bar always has the freshest thickest fillets of fish with a crispy batter and very big portions.. the curry sauce and mushy peas are also really good. The chips are such a huge portion that we now have a cone of chips between the two of us. We always really enjoy the meals from here.

My son ordered food at 7.50pm 10.00pm still waiting only to discover debs closed an hour earlier. Definitely not impressed with the lack of service.

This was my first order from Debs and the order was made promptly, ready for collection when stated and all nice and hot. Unfortunately that's as good as it got. The chicken was dry, fish rubbery and the chips were the second worst I've had from a chippy. I hate to say i won't be going back again.

This is to say a huge Thank You to everyone at Deb's Fish Bar for yet another superb meal. This time it was for 10 people attending an 85th Birthday Party at lunchtime today (Fri 26th Nov.) Our choices included, Regular, Small & Tiddler Cod, Scampi, Fishcakes, Mushy Peas and Pineapple Rings, together with plenty of chips (2 large portions) for all 10 of us. Everything was cooked to perfection and was delicious. As usual, our order arrived piplng hot and bang on our requested delivery time of 12.45pm. Also the prce was very reasonable. Once again, many thanks to all at Deb's for your quality products and excellent service which we can strongly recommend. We shall be in touch again soon. Best regards Dave Reynolds and Family. First time to this neck of the woods, stumbled across this place which has gluten free fish and chips, gluten free burgers (proper beef burgers!!) and well labelled range of other gluten free items. Super helpful and friendly team. The choice of food is amazing. But honestly, to find decent GF fish and chips alongside GF burger under one roof is rare! And all I can say for the taste is WOW! I’ll definitely be returning in the future. Oh and they also have a Kelly’s Cornish Ice-cream bar 🤤 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Plaiced (pun intended) order for Collection with Debs during an impromptu meet in Asda. Collected at the arranged time. The only mistake I made was in failing to invite my neighbours to share in the large chip portion which was by far the biggest serving that I have ever received. The haddock tasted of haddock and the peas of peas and was extremely reminiscent of the Westfields shop and reminded me of why I used to travel there from Rushden due to the quality (Deb will remember I’m sure)....4

Absolutely brilliant food, some of the best in town I think, especially the burgers! But have to say am really disappointed with the delivery service, multiple occasions we have had missing items and food turning up 30-40 minutes later than the estimated time which in total can be almost 2 hours after placing an order. Would give 5 stars if was not for this.

We ordered our food for delivery, probably at the busiest time the weather was poxy and traffic horrendous. Unfortunately when it arrived I found it not quite to the high standard of many other orders I have had from them in the past. Instead of being bitter and twisted and running to this site after eating my food and slagging off a small very very good family business i picked up the phone, kindly expressed my concerns. Customer service couldn’t have been better. Our order was re cooked with no questions asked and delivered promptly, food was second to none. Well done to Deb and staff! A very friendly team always keen to help and ensure customers are happy. I had the Stack Burger which was excellent for taste and quantity - it's quite a feast so be sure to work up a hunger before taking that challenge. Be back soon 🙂

Debs is great so be patient it's worth the wait. Food quality, value for money is brilliant. The portions are generous. Order through their own web site is the best way.

When me and granddaughter has food it is always hot staff are always polite shops clean tidy and granddaughter loves going there in summer to sit outside the shop and eat her food she dont eat much else other than a fish cake and chips and has a small amount of curry sauce with 2 sachets of tomato ketchup and mayo or bbq sauce. Would recommend.

Great fish and chips, little bit of a wait cos Debs is Popular half of Rushden had just ordered grub before I got there. Can't wait for her to get her new shop. Parking always going to a issue so don't drive there if possible.
