Deans Plaice in Teignbridge

Poor. We placed and paid for an order online. Arrived at the chip shop to find it closed. Their website and Google said it was open. Don't pre order as you can't guarantee you'll be able to collect.

The chips are cooked fresh while u wait,and they are so well cooked and crispy

First time of using this plaice (excuse the pun), since it changed hands and I am extremely impressed, asked how big the large cod was and staff member was happy to show us a piece of fish, took food back to caravan park and it was still hot, fish was cooked perfectly will definitely use again

Food was cooked fresh to order and was lovely. The batter is lovely and crisp and the chips were cooked well and seasoned nicely. The staff were polite and helpful.

Had food from here today! I couldn’t believe the prices! For the quality and location, I’d have expected to pay a lot more. Food was cooked fresh in front of me and all the staff were friendly and polite. Would deffo use again. Highly recommend

Rubbish don't bother..... batter burnt fish tastless, screaming hot and dripping in oil, chips had all life fried out of them. Threw more away than we ate.

Ordered late afternoon fish chips for myself and cheesy chips and battered sausage for partner. Both were very good quality and substantial. Well cooked and the fish was fresh soft and flakey. Sausage was decent quality with a good batter. No excessive oil. Was appreciated. Prices slightly above expected but in a holiday type location were reasonable. Can get busy so wait times vary. Take out only.

Recommended by a local we met kayaking in the area. Arrived just before closing time. We were hungry. WOW, felt welcome, team of three provided our meals promptly but the best bit was the quality of the meals. Quality fish, mushy peas, onion rings and chips. All perfectly cooked and lovely crisp, dry batter. Possibly the best F&C we have had in the last ten years.

A small place at Dawlish Warren. Relatively new. The food is ready made and there is a good choice of drinks. We ordered fish and chips to take away. Unfortunately we were not happy with the food: the fish was not crispy as well as the chips. A pity. I don’t recommend.

The best place for fish and chips in Dawlish Warren

Dean’s Plaice is an excellent chippy. They had a five person order ready in 10 minutes. Oliver was very pleasant and courteous during our interaction and even gave us a bottle of vinegar for our order on the house. 10/10, would definitely go again.

First visit to Dean's Plaice and I have to say that the food we had was amazing. Although we ordered a double cheeseburger and only received a single one, we weren't disappointed. The kids meal was huge. Everything cooked to order but we'll worth the wait. Chips were fantastic and were cooked in fairly fresh oil. If you want chips in dawlish warren then this is definitely the place to get them.

Great to see a gluten-free option which was the deal breaker for my wife! Ordered Cod and chips, Sausage and chips, curry sauce and two drinks, all of which was very reasonably priced. Everything was cooked freshly to order and even though the shop was very busy when we arrived with a coach load of teenagers,we were given an order number and received our food extremely quickly! Would definitely recommend for quality food and service. We'll be back 😀

Highly recommended! Went late on a Monday near closing but our entire order was cooked fresh (not pre cooked food left out for ages), food was delicious with generous portion sizes and the staff were super friendly, even gave our doggo some extra sausages they had. Will definitely be returning in the future.

We holiday in Dawlish Warren every year we have been coming since I was small now we bring the grandchildren it’s such a great place. We have tried all the takeaways nearby and this one’s hands down has to be the best chips i’ve had in a while. There is a bit of a wait as everything is cooked fresh in front of you. I had roe and chips. The chips have that lovely yellow glow and a light crispy taste and the roe was so soft inside. Best chips Thankyou I was given a small extra piece of roe as this was small due to been the end of the can but this hasn’t swayed my review, Please try the chips for yourself …

We had the loveliest experience at Dean’s Plaice today. It’s not often I go in to a fish and chip shop and want to write a review, but I saw every customer being treated with such great service before us and whilst we were waiting. The staff were lovely and chatty with me and my little boy, it made the whole experience a joy. The food was fresh, piping hot and delicious. I couldn’t fault it. We hope to return to Dawlish again soon. Thank you Dean’s Plaice. In my 41 years, this is only the 4th review I’ve felt compelled to write, so I hope that gives it extra credibility

Found this Gem of a chippy, what great service, food was cooked to order, I ordered a child's meal and there was plenty there at very reasonable prices. Very kind man served us and gave the kids a lolly pop which made them very happy. On top of this food was delicious, we shall visit again when next in the area.

You can park in the short stay carpark and run over, I had a chip butty and I got alot of chips, didn't take long either.

Visited today while holiday! Deans plaice is where you need to go for the best food! Spotlessly clean. The man who served us was amazing, he gave us free curry sauce, gave my boy a lolly and what got me the most was how he gave the young boy in front of us extra chips because he comes in every day, he truly looks after his customers. Top place to go for all your chippy needs! Please visit them, you won’t be disappointed!

Fabulous fish & chips bought today to eat on the sea front. Excellent customer service providing napkins and forks. Mushy peas were lovely and sweet. Friendly chatty staff who worked efficiently to cook our fish to order. Highly recommended 👌

We are fish and chips here and really really enjoyed it. We walked under the bridge and eat them by the sea. Tasty, curry sauce as well, highly recommended.

Goes hand in hand with the holiday park behind it one of the reasons I go back every year as it’s a Smashing chippy very satisfied as foods on anouther level if you’ve not tried then your missing out. Eaten from here two nights while away in Dawlish Warren and the chips were really tasty and large portion, so we returned but the portion size was much smaller the second time. Still tasty but much smaller. We would return and recommend.

Good quality fish but batter and chips let them down a little

Would definitely recommend Dean's Plaice. We had large cod, standard cod, two battered jumbos, 4 chips and curry sauce. Not one bit was left. Cod was perfect, chunky flakes and tasty. Chips cooked to perfection. Kids loved the jumbos. Not at all greasy. Friendly staff, chatty and eager to please. Great value for money. Will be definitely be back for more.

Never had a bad portion from this place. Cod, chips, chicken burgers, jalapeno bites, mozzarella sticks - all ace. Kids meals with a drink, not bad value. Pop your order in and wait for the number from your receipt to be called.
