Good food but beware that if you order non-alcoholic drinks, you will be charged an additional service charge for this on top of the price of the non-alcoholic drink. To be clear - in addition to paying the service charge for my bill, there was a specific separate service charge listed below it for having a non-alcoholic drink.

Gem of a find in Central London. Fabulous place for lunch with friends. Relaxed dining with attentive service. Met up with a friend for lunch and had a great window table. Menu isn't huge but offers enough of a selection - enjoyed a chilled glass of Moet followed by Monkfish Curry and Salmon for main course then cheese and biscuits. Service was impressive; lovely warm welcome on arrival - huge thanks to Matt who looked after our table - super efficient and friendly. We'll definitely return.

There’s nowhere like it in late evenings for a few drinks, beautiful dim lighting, cool background music, the general atmosphere and great friendly waiters. I like to bring new pals here, it’s always reliable to impress. You can even have food as late as 11pm. It’s never let me down as a lovely old haunt even though only a decade or so here it feels an integral part of Soho.

Came here for afternoon tea. The quality and quantity of the food were excellent especially for the price in London, highly recommended. The surroundings are pretty lovely, nothing too extravagant but very reasonable for the area. Vibe was nice enough and it was just busy enough to be pleasant. The only thing that let it down was the service. It is usually the other way around but in this instance the person serving us seemed distracted or disinterested. Perhaps they were having a rough day. I am sure it was just an off day.

We went to dean street townhouse for drinks. The atmosphere is always great, the drinks were lovely. It was quite pricey, but I guess it’s to be expected in London and Soho. We first went for the Kedgeree one morning as that’s a difficult meal to find - one of the best we have found. But, the menu looked good, and the surroundings very comfortable. The place is classic British comfort and menu. So, back for dinner, my wife had Sole, deboned by George, I had Monkfish curry. Both were excellent and a nice bottle of wine to go with it. Since then we have been back twice more, for breakfast and a Sunday roast. If you want to know what good British food and service is like - this is your spot.

Lunch today and my partner had small problem in that the salmon fillet, although cooked and tasty, was just warm. Yannis and his team offered a fresh fillet but she decided that it was tasty enough to stay with it. Yannis removed it from our final bill which was professional and accepted with a smile. My pork chop dish was top drawer along with our desserts (cheesecake and the chocolate and mandarin mousse). Just love it here whether breakfast, lunch or dinner. PS. Clean and welcoming, grapefruit juice was so fresh and breakfast (this was the half portion) was plentiful and very fresh. I love that restaurants encourage you to pick a smaller portion rather than have food waste. The Cowshed toiletries in the bathroom are wonderful too. The staff are polite and courteous. The only slight niggle was it was difficult to get attention to order and same issue when it came to paying. The staff are often congregating or setting tables which is something maybe they could improve on. Cannot wait to return 💕.

Staff needs to communicate with each other about basic things like the fact that a table ordered a certain thing like a bottle of wine. When they don't do that. They don't refill glasses and forget you have a bottle sitting in an ice bucket somewhere. Should probably play music too

Always loved the restaurant the past 10 years. Maybe tonight was an off night for waiter and kitchen. Pork chop was way overcooked. The pork fat pieces, drizzled in the delicious puree was so hard it almost broke my teeth every time I took a bite. Steak was also overcooked per client. Had other guest but at a business dinner everyone is too embarrassed to return the food and ask for an appropriate cooked dish. Admit will not return. Sad to say, but can’t return to restaurant for fear of being embarrassed again with friends and customers in poor food quality and lack of service attention. Hope others have better experience. Cheers.

The food and service was fantastic. Very attentive staff . The problem is the seating arrangement. Tables are low with very low chairs. The 3 men in our group had their knees touching the under part of the table. It was most uncomfortable for them. They could barely get out of the seats. Their unbearable situation detracted from the experience. There were no other options available. They had to hang their legs out. Dean street should invest in a whole new table and chair arrangement. Some much higher tables with wingback chairs that sit higher off the ground.

I can’t rate this restaurant highly enough, hence why we rebook when we are catching up with family in London, the low lighting and cosy atmosphere make it hard to leave. The food, wine and posh beer were delicious, the plaice with samphire especially so, we ordered the beef Croquettes, after sampling them last time as a complimentary gift to finish off our evening. This time we were offered Arancini balls, these were also very good and we will order them next time, if available. The service was excellent, a slight wait for our initial drinks but we were at a comfortable table and happy to just relax in the lovely parlour. A special mention to a lovely waiter Chaid, who remembered us from a previous visit when he was on shift a year ago, a real asset to the dining room. Another bonus point worth mentioning is that we have never felt rushed as you do in some places, also there is a good amount of space between the tables which adds to the dining experience. Looking forward to our next visit already.

We ordered drinks, then had to wait far too long for a waiter to come over to take our order (I kept trying to make eye contact and had to ask someone) Then the starters came fairly quickly, but they left them there for so long. We had been done with the starters for at least 20 minutes before they cleared them. And the waiter’s description of the menu was not very helpful - he went into long descriptions about items we did not ask about.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was really nice. I think the waiter we had that night was being trained, so we believe the service we received was not typical. However, we were served the wrong drinks (and charged for both the wrong and right ones, which we had to have corrected). And the service itself was so slow that we ended up missing a tour we were scheduled for. That said, both the trainee and trainer were very nice. The macaroni and cheese that my husband and I split as an appetizer was some of the best I have ever had. Infact, I wish I had ordered that as my entree (and not shared it), as it was the best part of the meal. My fish & chips were average at best, and my husband's fish was bland.

We have eaten here many times before with our boys and it is our go to before a theatre trip on birthday outings. We had a lady with mobility issues and we placed on a cramped round table rather than a rectangle or a booth. I had stated it was a birthday celebration. We had to ask for our wine to be re-filled repeatedly, my side was forgotten and my husband had to wait for his side of chips (he had finished his main by the time they arrived), the waiter was more interested about serving a table of 3 men who had clearly been drinking and were talking & swearing loudly so all around could here. 3 out of 5 of us had deserts and after we had finished and my husband had to go to the main reception/ bar to pay as the waiter was no existent they brought a candle and chocolates for my son. A real let down. Will not be returning here again. Very sad as I’ve said before, we’ve been many times and had good experiences. A bad start to my son’s birthday treat. The experience was terrible. The waiting staff were excellent, but the management was awful. My friend and I fell ill, and we were unsure if it was from the food or not (we were a party of three). One person in our group did not eat the steak tartare and was fine. However, both I and another person who ate the steak tartare got sick. We didn't expect anything from the restaurant, as we were there on business using a company card, but they treated us as if we were trying to get something out of them when all we wanted was some sympathy. We were not drinking green tea for fun, but rather to help us feel better. A little sympathy goes a long way, and the way they treated us was unacceptable for any restaurant. The management was awful, and they need to address this issue.

We had a tall, blonde waiter, who, when asked for things (milk for tea etc) left us feeling as though it was a real inconvenience. The sandwich serving of 3 finger sandwiches is smaller than any other London hotel’s afternoon tea & our bill was incorrect when it arrived, but for ease we paid it and left. Very loud downstairs. Advises food and loos upstairs but there was a much quieter seating area upstairs.

Beautiful building and gorgeous interior. Our experience at this venue was good. Staff were polite but were very slow indeed in clearing tables. Clean toilets, something unusual in London.

definitely recommend — great cocktails, impeccable service and cozy atmosphere. our waiter was very attentive and the service was very fast and friendly. it’s so often that you get uninteresting watered-down cocktails in london but this place had so many options and every one we tried we loved!

The disco fizz was out of the world !! Very exciting experience. Live music was amazing & the service was sublime. What an incredible evening - 100% will be back.
