You would expect a £4 pain au chocolat to at least be fresh and not from yesterday?

Our favorite neighborhood deli. Couldn’t live without steady supply of sourdough loaves and coffee!

The price of a vegetarian sausage roll has increased from £2.50 in 2018 to £4.50 in 2024. That is a phenomenal uplift in prices. And they’ve changed the recipe. Gutted.

£6 for a smoked salmon bagel and cream cheese with a miniscule peice of smoked salmon and 3.50 for a coffee. Whilst the coffee was nice the prices here are ridiculous for what you get

The coffee was reasonable, but the young male waiters it’s extremely unfriendly. and quite rude when it cones the time for me to pay … they do not offer the possibility to pay by cash only card….When I questioned once there was nothing written…and that I should be given a choice . He said I don’t think it’s necessary out works better for us!!!!… which I believe is very rude…. definitely will never go there again..

Nice place with good food but I ordered a decaf coffee and, despite charging extra for decaf, I'm pretty certain I was given caffeine 'cause I was still awake at 4am

I heard everything now - on my own with a laptop. precious server told me laptops aren't allowed at weekend - clearly this may tigger others…if you’re not middle class aged 20-30s you're not going to fit in here. discrimination comes in all forms

Great coffee and pastries, easy takeaway setup.

Used to love this place, been coming here for 2+ years, however I struggle when staff are now unable to show a semblance of warmth or hospitality. Man behind the coffee machine, I’m looking at you. They used to stock £2-3 bacon and have since replaced it with a £7+ option, didn’t know we were in a period of hyperinflation…?

A PLACE FOR RICH OLIGARCHS!! Overpriced, overpriced, ocerpriced (and staff have attitude). Has been this way for years. Well before inflation happened. Meanwhile the sandwich shop across the road is cheap and ACE!! Try it!

All the staff are consistently friendly and helpful, the fresh food like sandwiches etc are all incredible, and the coffee is always spot on too

We got Iced Mocha and Iced Black Americano – served in normal take away cups. The coffees were expensive and a little on the small side because ‘artisan’ they weren’t bad/not great

We were lucky to find it accidentally on a sunny Sunday, and as we were a little bit hungry, we sat for a small snack. We had a quiche a pie and a babka! All of them were super fresh and delicious. I found them a little bit pricey but they were fresh so in the end I didn't mind!

Been coming here for years and it is honestly my happy place. AMAZING sandwiches and veggie sausage rolls.

Coffee and food delicious but let down by the young male server , I had a wonderful coffee and cake , the whole interaction without him uttering one word

I'd like to complain that stuffed bagels are always sold out when I'm there. But that's only because I'm lazy, and I'm getting up way too late. They’re so delicious that I'm expecting people fighting over the last one at some point. Very friendly staff, and some of them even learned how to spell my overly complicated name and write it down on a cup of their addictively delicious coffee.

i come here all the time. their sandwiches are so good (the egg mayo bagel is such a good price too!), i always pick up bread or pastries or special veg, and if i ever need a little gift for someone there are so many great options. the staff are so friendly. one of my favorite things about living in the area!

Everything I want in a hot chocolate …. Smooth, rich, not too sweet , frothy milk, made with REAL CHOCOLATE that doesn’t fully melt and pools at the bottom of the cup, excellent deli browsing while it’s prepared. Would come again if I didn’t live so far…. :(((

Delicious and filling egg sandwich with thick bread. Cute little store with many unique food items. Portuguese egg tarts are good but a little too sweet. Coconut macarons are very sweet but taste divine. Will come back for sure!

Love the sandwiches, but also browsing the selection of fresh and local food products. It's called deli for a reason. Also delicious bread. Love the outdoor seating too, been a few times for lunch.

Treasure trove of delicious goodness

I’ve been here a few times and feel like each time my experience (sadly) hasn’t quite lived up to the hype in a number of ways. My main feedback is that at the incredibly high price point (which I understand is meant to be a reflection of quality), I would hope staff could be a bit more outwardly knowledgeable and engaged with their customers and potential returning customers. I feel like one of the points of buying artisanal produce since it can be so costly, is that you can trust the people you’re buying from, as well as the producers of course, whereas I’ve found the service to be quite flat and disengaged and have at times been made to feel quite unwelcome by this lack of willingness. I get that you don’t want to upsell to people but at least offer some information about the produce or offer to make informed suggestions to those browsing etc. Maybe have someone placed on the floor that can help direct/inform customers? You might already do this but hasn’t been my experience! I think these small touches would help to minimise the price gap a little as it might make it feel a bit more ✨special✨ and inviting. Just a personal opinion.

Positives-good flat white and croissant Negatives-automatically slyly charged for non-diary milk, which is a higher price. Sneaky and left a bad taste in the mouth. Sassy customer service too.

Good latte and amazing cornish pastie

De Beauvoir deli has usually always nice products. However the bread I got yesterday (sourdough from Dusty Knuckle) was clearly old. If the bread you sell isn’t fresh (meaning baked on the same day), please don’t sell it at £5.20, instead either discount it or remove it.

The deli has always been a trusted staple for coffee, sandwiches & gifts - but it was a recent experience with their cakes that has me writing this review. I bought the Tunisian orange cake for my partner's birthday & had people gripping me by the shoulder on the night to ask where it was from - absolutely incredible & the customer service was brilliant. I'd highly recommend the experience!

Coffee isn't good, overpriced, over extracted, and milk over heated. Visited many times and it is has always been sub standard unfortunately. Locals queue in there droves for some reason. They never seem to have a decent barrista. Avoid. Owner says it is strange that i keep coming back, but it was curiosity and desperation that caused me to use more than once. If they spent as much energy on finding adequate barristas as they do arguing with reviewers they might produce some better coffee. I live in ec1 and we are spoiled for good coffee shops so it is possible.

I've been here a few times as live nearby - generally I've been really happy with the service but yesterday we went just before closing for a takeway coffee. In what I can only imagine as the rush to shut the store, the coffee was made awfully - lukewarm at best, way too much milk and we ended up discarding it after a few sips. I haven't been too harsh with the star rating (still giving this 4 stars based on previous visits) but I think its important to leave constructive criticism where warranted - please provide a consistent service to paying customers. I'd rather be told that you're not accepting any orders than pay for a coffee which is so poorly made it has to be thrown away. We basically threw our money away. However, otherwise - the sandwiches here are amazing and if you have time to pop inside and check the other goods you will see they are lovely!

This Deli probably has the best coffee in the area. They use Monmouth roasted coffee beans so you know you are getting a good artisan coffee. They also have the best sourdough, scotch eggs, sausage rolls, cheeses, smoked meats and so many more treats.

Ambience: A lovely deli on Southgate Road. Small but have a great selection of sandwiches, pastries, breads, cakes, charcuterie, and other high-end grocery items. A great place to grab breakfast or lunch and a coffee. There are a few tables outside where you can take your order and enjoy it, if you can grab one. Service: Always friendly and fast. Food: A great selection for vegan, vegetarian and meat eaters. Lovely gluten free pastry options as well. Disappointed that they no longer make their sandwiches on gluten free bread since their dine-in restaurant opened across the street (the dine-in doesn't do take-away or offer the sandwiches) Price: Priced well for the quality they offer.

Great place for a quick snack and home shopping. I had a fantastic salad which was also very reasonably priced (always a perk in London)! Friendly staff and shelves loaded with fresh, local and wholesome food products! Pin it on your map!

Great food, ok service, long queues sometimes at the weekend

I have been going to this deli since it first opened. Love it, great produce and great staff, as well as great coffee.

The Holy Grail of N1 Coffee and take away food. This place honestly got us through the various lockdowns with their scrumptious treats. The line is normally fairly long at peak times however they clearly have talented barista's who pump out quality coffee time after time. They have partnered with a number of the best local food providers and the ingredients are top notch.

Delicious little local spot, tried the portobello mushrooms and did not disappoint. Great coffee/takeaways too.

Best of De Beauvoir Town for me! Amazing sandwiches, best quality homemade produces, artisan food and top notch cakes and pastries. Their coffee is one of my favourites in London. A small gem and is already very appreciated by the local community.

The salad I got was very tasty with perfect cooked salmon. The service I got from the counter staff - as a guy in construction gear - was not quite what the normal clothed people in there were getting though which was a shame

the veggie New Yorker is the worlds most perfect sandwich n the staff are lovely. Gorgeous selection of little cakes as well

de Beauvoir Town deli. Quality is the thing here. It's not cheap, but quality's the USP here. The ready meals are like good home cooking. Ace bread and cakes.

I love this deli! One of my favourite things about this neighbourhood. The staff are super friendly and the selections of sandwiches (the Reuben ❤️), cheeses and meat counter are fantastic. The only problem is that I always want to buy so many things..! Thank you, De Beauvoir Deli :)

My body my choice. Annoying staff inside

Read the reviews and went for a coffee...sometimes you just need a good coffee for a treat if nothing else. Coffee was lovely but nothing more special than other coffee houses. So to the cost...appalling..mto charge £3.20 and then for oat milk another 50 p! This will create a divide...mine is a coffee treat now and then as I begin to watch my pennies in the current situation. I have coffee in other places and the max I paid is 2.70 or just over 3.00. But £3.70...that is not acceptable. I think you need to rethink costs Deli owners. Won't be coming back and definitely not spreading the good word in Dalston...anyone heard about the woman who is running the foodbank locally? If you haven't she is giving up all her time to feed those less fortunate in the locality...my 3.70 would be better spent donating to her foodbank. Sorry has to be said in these tough times.

The café is lovely but with a very limited menu. Very simple egg dishes made tasty but nothing spectacular. There’s a sense of haste as they tried to hurry our group of 4 out of the door for waiting customers.

There are several reasons for why it's a que at this place, one being custard filled donuts with a custard to donut ratio to look forward to- the custard has the perfect amount of dough around it, it's not too much dough to fill you up- just right to keep the real vanilla custard in place until you eat the whole thing, the tiny black spots on the custard- that is the vanilla used, also don't forget a coffee to enjoy, great sandwiches as well- sourdough all the way.

Great deli, lots of choice and decent prices considering the products! Dusty knuckle Cinnabon bun and a great selection of sandwiches available. They have cheese and meat counter also! Coffee one of my faves in the area

Cute deli with great takeaway sandwich options. You can also buy coffee, cakes, pastries, bread and gourmet groceries to takeaway. Check out the cafe opposite if you want to sit down for a bite to eat.

Enjoyed a very nice coffee. Has a delightful blue theme to the deli with organic fruit and vegetables, as well as a great range of fresh products.

Great takeaway selection - the Vegan Rueben is fantastic. Not sure what gluten free options they have, but really lovely nonetheless.

The deli itself is great, and the sandwiches they offer are some of the best I've had. However, the coffee is super hit-or-miss and I've never had a flat white from here that wasn't incredibly bitter. The coffee tastes burnt sometimes, and other times okay

It's a bit clicky this area now, the customers think they are something special, don't like the queuing up outside, sometimes you can't get past, and no one will move out of the way , for you. The staff were lovely, and the food/ coffee was great.

Lovely local high quality deli. A nice range of dry, cold and fresh items in a small shop. They also offer tasty baked goods from Dusty Knuckle and lunch takeaway sandwiches and coffee. A little pricy but great quality and ethics.

Really expensive, average food to go, messed order up and didn't offer any refund on the bits I didn't want. Let's hope some competition comes to the area

Walked into shop, guy behind counter shouted were is your mask! I left!! As a rte.21 bus driver I pass this place regularly and always see lines of people outside and always wondered what it was all about, found out now and NAH, NOT FOR ME.

A wonderful treasure trove. I've discovered some great products here. I'm taking one star off because it's always out of veg sandwich options when I visit. With no fresh sandwiches, you can be a store, but not a great deli.

I am a very regular customer and i love this place however what is happening with your croissants lately? They used to be always very fresh and now it appears you are keeping the ones from the previous days. You can definitely tell they are not fresh, please do something about it. Thanks

Gorgeous local deli in the upmarket De Beauvoir area. Pricey but nice deli items and food to go. Super friendly service and a takeaway coffee window to save having to go inside to order.

I am afraid I have to agree with M X. Considering you charge 3£ for a Cappuccino (which is mainly froth) and 50p soya milk, £3.50 is far too expensive. Nowadays most cafes don't even charge for milk alternative. For that price I rather go for your Sausage roll, which is delish.

Ridiculous price for a coffee! There are other places in the area where you can also find nice coffee at a reasonable price. Sorry no one is forcing me to buy it but you shouldn’t take advantage either
