Darin's Takeway in Edinburgh, City of

Bought some food here recently. The fish were ok but the chips were a little bit undercooked, although still edible. Filled a hole but there are better options nearby.

Literally all we ordered was a bag of chips and it was still one 1-star worthy. Hard and uncooked (few reviews said the same) and had an odd taste like the oil needs changed or fryers need cleaned. Had tried this place a couple of times over the years and generally been fine, but obviously been taken over in recent times by someone who's got no standards

10 inch pizza with two toppings is £11, dominoes large with two topping is £9.99 why would you buy at Darins, I ordered 10"pizza and a large chips. The food was ok however not value for money, large chips are half the size of other local chippies. The shop is very dirty and I will not be visiting there again.

Very bad experience here. The fries were so smelly.The burger cost 8 pound and I didn’t had even a bite.

ice cream is EFFING terrible, tastes sour, bought it with chocolate sauce and its the ice cream itself that tastes sour!! rotten!!!!

Where do I even start?! The chips are hard and uncooked, the donner meat was crumbling like a cookie and was still light in colour. The garlic sauce tasted like it’s been out of date for ages and it smelt awful. Felt sick after having a few bites. Please save your money and go somewhere else. If this was the last takeaway in Edinburgh I still wouldn’t order from here.

I ordered a large fish supper and got 2 of the smallest soggiest pieces I've ever seen that were stuck together. Chips were hard and uncooked. Disgusting

The food is excellent and the behavior is very sophisticated from Brother Waei and Brother Abdel Ghalib I recommend trying it

That was bang out of order the whole delivery it is absolutely soaking even the bag was soaking. How come it took over a hour but 25 mins for the driver to get here . It's either you or your drivers got the pics and video I show you it all personally tomorrow

Quite a decent chippy, as a person who’s tried many many different chippier from around fife and esinburgh I rate this chippy on a scale of 6.5 out of 10, the food is good, the cleanliness is good. I’ve had multiple meals here and they have all been good. People expect a hot food order when there getting delivery, go in and pick it up and you will for sure get a good hot decent meal.

Do not recommend ordering the munchie box Paid £16 for this for a handful of chips and donner meat. Phoned shop and complained person on the phone says I’m just technically paying for pizza even though it’s a munchie box pizza isn’t even that great either.

Over priced for the quality and quantity of kebab meat. Pizza like a frisbee was burnt. Garlic Mayo was green 🤷‍♂️ only decent thing was the guys banter 😂😂😂

Oh dear Darin. Your fried food tastes so damn bitter. You really need to change your beef fat... I should have listen to the previous reviews, but I thought I will give it a try. Never again! Very, very poor food quality.

Staying in the nearby Village hotel and had missed the cut off for room service as it was fast approaching midnight, did a search and found Darin’s within 10 minutes walk and open to after midnight. Easy walk, ordered a rather tasty donner kebab, that was fully loaded and headed back to get torn into it. Highly recommend, great range of products, friendly staff and super quick service.

Quite average fish and chips. I asked for freshly cooked fish, instead of the pieces which had been on display in the hot cabinet (good environment for food poisoning) for an unknown time. The result was a meal cooked in oil that was too cold and therefore oily. Oh well....next !

Food disgusting, delivery driver is , vile ignorant and rude ,, caught him spitting in the comunial area , brought wrong delivery and went of his head swearing and shouting infront of our kids . Called the place and the guy on the phone was worse told us if we're not happy call the f police . Just a joke these people should not be in business, definitely not the delivery driver his anger problems is bad for the public . Food standards will have a field day with this place.. I’m shocked at their lack of transparency and pricing. When asked mixed and special kebab has no difference but yet there is 30p difference! I order a lamb large doner for £10 to get this shyte! It’s not even got a bread or sauce or salad. What a waste of money!

Would have been 0 if I could have. Witnessed the owner/ brother, attacking a customer he was delivering to , the driver flashed a torch I'm our windows and to the customers windows who has a little girl . So the deliver driver came back in to close after shout abuse outside in the street . Obviously because the customer was on phone to the shop. So he came back in with the delivery fuming and screaming and shouting attacking the customer swearing and spitting, vile, and there was kids watching the whole thing this is ridiculous police are involved and it all caught on camera so I would definitely not buy from these thugs even if the food was good, which it's not days old meat defo not fresh kebab anyway . There nasty vile people hope the police do there job and stops this person before he does something worse end of !

My son bought and ordered a takeaway for me just now. My fish came batter overcooked on the fish looks like its been recookwd a few times. Chips looked old and bottom of the fryer. Ive bought food before but never again as gone downhill.

Order a 16inch pizza,delivery arrives and the box is for a 16 inch but the pizza is half the size,the pizza is so thin they could have slipped it under the door rather than knocking and it was so dry,absolutely terrible for £17 ,do not order from them.1 star because you have to press one.

I think that the Donner meat is a bit nicer than other takeaways from this area but that's about it to be honest

Used this establishment twice and on both occasions the food was very tasty and arrived hot. Ive seen a lot of bad reviews for them but i can honestly say its the best chippy in our area.

Best takeaway iv been to by far.. Only one thing id say,, and that would be that some of the food could do with a lot less fat soaking into things.. But still excellent food and service. Well worth it for your takeaway needs.

Seriously, don't order from this place unless you want to waste your money, time and consume terrible food. Its easily one of the worst fish and chips and kebabs I've ever eaten. The fish and chips were undercooked, terrible quality and the amount of oil and grease on it was out of this world. The kebab special was atrocious!. I've never had a kebab that is covered in cheese sauce and had such low quality and tasteless meat that was on the brink of going off. the chilli sauce tasted weird. More than 90 percent of the whole meal went in the bin

This one of the best I ever had food from..very very delicious, unbelievable pizza, kebabs is nice. Very quick delivery, get it hot as it just taken out from the oven 🥧🔥🔥🔥I would highly recommend it. I will keep placing orders from it as long as i live 😊😉😊😉 Thank you darins

Never a bad experience, delivery can be a bit hot and miss but I expect that's down to available drivers.

Love coming to Darins, I usually turn up after Midnight, and the food still tastes great and the owner is always polite and helpful. Great place for food and the staff are always quick at service. I will always keep coming back here.

Over pricy and quality of the food is not good at all .

I ordered a 7" chicken pizza for the first time and it was good the base, cheese and chicken was baked/cooked correctly. Second time when i ordered the same, the pita, chicken wasn't baked properly. 😒

I went to buy a chicken burger . The staff was very rude . Very rough, not friendly. They are using bare hands to prepare the food. And it was very expensive. Not worth for the money . I don’t recommend. No hygiene.

I phoned to ask what kind of pizzas they have and he was being rude straight away. I said I want a chicken one and then he asked what size, I asked him how much would a large one be roughly and he started shouting at me and I could hear him tapping the table after every word in frustration, I told him to be patient with me as I was driving and was thinking of what size and was waiting on a response for price estimate. As soon I said to him please could you be patient (not in a rude way) he said to me don’t even order from us and then he hung up the phone. I was fasting and hungry so wanted to order the pizza to break my fast with but I wont ever be ordering from such an inpatient rude business like this. Disgusting behaviour and judging by all these other negative responses horrible food too. They don’t even care at all! Nor do they reply back to any unhappy customers here.

We have ordered many times from Darins and the food has always been excellent. It’s delivered very promptly and the food has always been lovely and hot. My only criticism is that the last two times we have ordered a mini munchie box from there it has arrived without any donner meat on it which it is supposed to have. Not sure if there has been a change of staff who maybe doesn’t realise it should be in there or if they have just forgotten but either way it’s not great.

Ordered food and said for hours was being delivered. Waited for 2 hours and never arrived. Tried to phone and no answer. 10/10 would avoid

I ordered kebab meat and chips with lots of brown sauce and salt for my son last night, the food was freezing cold the meat felt like it had been lifted out a fridge and like rubber. The chips luke warm with no salt or sauce. Nearly £10 and it went in the bin. Absolutely disgusting 😤

Worst food I have ever had! We couldn't even eat it, went in the bin! Chips tasted like they were cooked in stale oil, the lamb shish was red in the middle and as tough an old boot! The chicken tasted old and reheated, just everything was bad! If we'd eaten it I'd be worried we would be ill! Avoid!!!!

Had a lovely fish supper for tea. Plenty of chips and two nice fish enough for two.

Vile! Fish was tiny, soggy and a weird bright orange colour. Chips were brick hard and dripping in oil. Chicken kebab had no garlic sauce or salad dressing, a tiny pita and chewy chicken. Massive waste of money, went in the bin. Never again!

Rubbish take for ever food cold the time it gets there

Firstly I was surprised by the company cars outside it gave me high hopes that this place was of high standard, I ordered a donor wrap (which was not on the menu as far as I could see) and was also surprised by the large amount of donor he took out of the hot holder, the reason I’m giving two stars is because the atmosphere was dead, I didn’t feel welcomed and as I watched them make it up I noticed there was no kebab on the stand so what was in the hot holder was either last nights donor or was made earlier that day, he heated the donor meat even more in the oven which made it crispy and dry the chilli sauce tastes like a curry pot noodle and to finalise all of that the wrap was £9 which half went in the bin because it tasted worse the more I ate.

For the price I was expecting something much more better. Unfortunatelly I didn't like chickenburger (it tasted like mix of flour and chicken) nor chips with ketchup. For kid's meal we ordered pizza with chips but even my daughter who loves chips, she didn't want to eat it at all. The pizza tasted like defrosted bread with a lot of low-quality ketchup, the same one on chips which were undone. I was quite disappointed because I know that for the same money I could have eaten well on some other place. I will not repeat my order from this place again.

This place still charges 50p to pay by card. When I asked them about it, all they said was “I just work here”. Told me to go to the cash line. So I went somewhere else and paid £3 for two bags of chips no problem paying by card no charge. Darin’s we’re trying to charge me £5.10 in all for 2 bags of chips and a card payment charge. Will never go back

It was all packed in a soggy plastic bag the chips came as a small portion even though I ordered a large and they were packed in a wet paper bag which made the chips soggy. The pizza was nice had better though the box was wet at the bottom. Delivery staff wasn’t very nice. Overall it was ok but unfortunately won’t order from there again.

Wasn't even worth the star. £20 for a wrap donna meat and chips and kids fish fingers. Donna wrap was descusting like mashed up mess. Wrap was hard in lots of places and jalapenos where off. we one couldn't even eat her fish fingers she got 2 fish fingers that was oozing with fat inside and fish was browny black inside them going to try and upload photos. Partners meal was tiny ment to be large was charged for large. Donna meat hard and old. Really bad. Feels like I e just been ripped of will never go there again. Ps chilly sauce was even descusting. Really bad off old food.

Amazing food always arrives hot and on time, the staff are lovely and so are the drivers! I wouldn’t order from anywhere else and would highly recommend it to anyone.
