Lovely roast dinner! One of the nicest roasts I've had in a long time.

Good dog, good vocals, good drinks

My friend had a really bad experience with unexpected and undisclosed costs being presented to her at the end of the venue hire. Owner assumed she would have assumed a cost and blindsided her infront of all her guests. Very unprofessional, should have been sorted prior to the event or at the beginning of the night before any alcohol was consumed. I was also charged for other people’s half drunk drinks at the bar. Really disappointed for my friend as it ruined a great evening.

I’m not the type to leave reviews, and I feel saddened that I need to, but feel it’s a must. I was prepared to rate Darcy’s a solid 5, because everything was perfect right up until the end of the night. I hired the venue for my partner’s 30th birthday - surprise - and was given a quote that I have in writing, with a deposit. The venue and the owner was fantastic, really friendly and really helpful. Perfect sized venue for the amount of people we had (estimated 30) and provided food and music. What was not disclosed, was the £450 food bill (£350 if you take out the £100 deposit I’d paid prior to the evening) given to me as I was leaving midnight Saturday that I ‘had’ to pay. I was in complete shock when I was given the receipt as it had not been disclosed or discussed with me in any of the other previous conversations I had with the owners over Facebook messenger or email - I have receipt of these conversations. The owner then became quite confrontational with myself and his wife, and tried to put words into my mouth that I had never said. To settle this, and now I have massive regrets doing so, I paid £150 towards this bill. I left Darcy’s feeling very upset and broke down outside of the venue in front of friends and family because we’d had such a great evening, and it really tarnished the evening☹️ friends and family went back inside to try and rectify this because everyone was horrified that the owners had put this blame on me, when it was miscommunication from them. They refused to refund. Since Saturday, I have had several friends and family reach out to say they had been overcharged for drinks, drink prices kept changing and my friend was charged for a drink she didn’t have, was told it would get refunded, and it hasn’t been. This is unacceptable and felt they really took advantage. For these reasons alone, I would not recommend this venue.

This place is a complete disaster when it comes to professionalism and service. Our group was overcharged, not once, but multiple times throughout the night. The attitude we received was beyond disrespectful – rude, dismissive, and downright unprofessional when we brought it to their attention. The fact that I was charged £39.40 for 4 jäger bombs says it all! If you enjoy being scammed then by all means, head to Darcy’s. Otherwise, save your time, money, and sanity – and go somewhere that knows how to treat their customers properly. Unbelievable. Avoid at all costs.

Our recent experience at Darcy's Bar and Kitchen was nothing short of disappointing. What should have been a wonderful evening was completely overshadowed by hidden charges, inconsistent drink prices, and the unprofessional behavior of the owner. First, the venue did not disclose additional fees until the end of the night, putting my friend in an awkward position in front of all the guests. Not only that, but the pricing of drinks was baffling. One of our friends paid £39.40 for four Jägerbombs, while another friend paid £10.80 for just one. The math simply doesn't add up, and we have the receipts from our banking apps to prove it. It’s frustrating and feels like we were being taken advantage of. As if that weren’t enough, the food was mediocre at best, making the overall experience even worse. To top it off, the owner’s response to my friend’s review was incredibly unprofessional and downright gaslighting. Instead of taking responsibility and addressing the concerns raised, they deflected and minimized the complaints, suggesting my friend "should have expected to pay for food", when this was disclosed in written agreement via social media and made excuses about a "transition" of management. Offering a £50 refund in one breath and then retracting it because of the review was petty and uncalled for. Their dismissive tone and comment about how their daughter "is not stupid" was entirely inappropriate and irrelevant to the situation. Overall, the lack of transparency, the inconsistent drink prices, and the disrespectful handling of customer feedback make this venue one we will not be returning to. For anyone considering Darcy’s Bar and Kitchen, be aware that what you see on the menu may not be what you end up paying, and don’t expect a professional resolution if you raise an issue.

Such a great place, went as a family for drinks and pizza, this place did not disappoint. Fantastic service, lovely food and great cocktails. Very pet friendly had the privilege of meeting Mr Darcy himself. Highly recommend

We visited on Friday in the early evening for drinks and food. The waitress was great and told us we were still in time for cocktail happy hour - result! Really great food too. The atmosphere was great, however seemed to change when a very casually dressed male came into the bar loudly telling off the staff and blasting orders, it later transpired this was the owner. Overall a great venue, fantastic attentive staff but the owner needs to be aware of his negative influence to the atmosphere. I would recommend giving staff feedback in private away from the public.

Delicious Sunday Roast. The young staff were attentive and friendly. Was recommended to have the lamb which was delicious and beef was great too. Sides were served on the side and very generous portions.

As with a previous visit, the service was excellent, the food was great and a super environment! Also, all the staff are delightful - many thanks!

First time here. Went for Sunday lunch with a friend. Didn't know what to expect but, having read many good reviews, we were hoping for a really enjoyable lunch time. Our expectations were exceeded! We arrived at midday and the place was fairly empty. Within 30 minutes or so the place was almost full. The person serving us was amazingly efficient, succeeding in meeting the needs of all the customers at once with a friendly smile and great efficiency. A real talent! The food was outstanding. We both had the roast beef. The meat was cooked perfectly, as were the vegetables. We thought the portions would be too much for us when it was brought out but, as it all tasted so good, we had no problem polishing it off! Dessert was Affogato accompanied by a shot of Amaretto. Truly gorgeous. A bit expensive, at £100 for two of us to include wine, beers and a service charge, but good value for money for such high quality food and service. See you again soon, hopefully. Lovely place entertainment homemade food helpful staff clean and rustic

We went to Darcy’s for an event night - not only was the food and drink amazing, the entertainment they provided was fantastic. Darcy’s is a local independent restaurant & bar - cosy but not over crowded with attentive and friendly staff (& owner). The service was great and the food was wonderful and great value for money. I would thoroughly recommend a visit for a drink or meal - or both! We’ll definitely be back x

Have eaten here a few times with friends and recently held a group event here including cocktail making. It is such a lovely place. The interior is beautiful with all the fairy lights and it has a great atmosphere. The owner is so kind and did an absolutely amazing job of hosting our event for us. Food was delicious and the cocktails amazing. I would highly recommend Darcy's for any celebration!

Just popped in for a quick one before moving on for an evening of whisky tasting. Lovely setting and a great atmosphere. We didn't eat on this occasion but the food that we saw coming from the kitchen looked absolutely delicious. Really friendly place, we will be going back.

Booked a table for four for Mother’s Day. From stepping into Darcy’s to leaving I can say that the atmosphere, staff and food were absolutely faultless. It felt like I was having Sunday lunch with extended friends and family. Although it was busy the attention and care we received was incredible. What a find and we will definitely be back. It’s hard for me to say this but the roast dinner was even better than mine!! Love to Mr Darcy too who also made a fabulous host.

What a great find! Chose Darcy's for a Mother Day lunch lunch and was no way disappointed. Friendly and accommodating staff. Nothing was a problem. Great atmosphere, little place and tables quite close together. Was not an issue for us. The food was outstanding. Meats cooked to virtual perfection. Great fresh vegetables and all home made including the sauces. Great portion sizes made for Great value for money. Good wines and choice of drinks. Definitely on my saved list and will return!

I have recently hired Darcy’s bar for a surprise 30th for my partner. I cannot recommend this place enough, the food was incredible with so many compliments from my guests saying how nice it was! The service was great, and such a beautiful venue. Had everything we needed. The owner Nicola has been great throughout, even ordered in any specific alcohol we wanted for the night. 10/10 recommend for any function!

Recently hosted my birthday here. Food was good , very accommodating by allowing us decorate and supply our own dj. I even got a free shot of alcohol as it was my birthday. Will definitely be back for a date night

My friend celebrated his 30th birthday there and I’m so glad they chose the venue. The owner was so accommodating.. and having allergies I didn’t expect food… I was brought not only a plate of food I was safe to eat… but it was absolutely amazing!! Just a fantastic night - massively recommend to anyone thinking of booking the venue for a party or private event.

Came for a date night with hubby. Food was good. Tasty and hot. Service was OK staff friendly but they seamed to be stretched. However almost £6 for a can of guiness seams a bit steep. I have been to central London and had a pint for less.

Best Sunday Roast during our England vacation. Very cosy atmosphere, super friendly service, good humor all around and a funny dog to boot. A real treat!

My partner and I, along with another couple went for their Sunday roast and we were not left disappointed. Everything on the plate was delicious and the deserts were equally good (and all made in house too!) A great atmosphere with friendly staff and if you're lucky, Darcy the dog will come over to say hello. Highly recommend!

Was very impressed with my first visit to Darcy’s. Went to see some live music & sample the pies. Food was great, obviously home made pies. Music & singing were brilliant, lovely ambience. All staff were attentive, friendly & welcoming.. looking forward to my next visit !

One of the best roasts we've had in Bournemouth. Highly reccomend, all the timings at no extra cost and fab prices overall. Beautiful pudding too, will defo be back. Thank you!

What an absolutely smashing place! We went for a Christmas party on 2nd December 2023. The food was delicious and it all came out together and HOT, which is no mean feat for a large gathering! Great atmosphere and excellent service. Well done to all the staff! 5 stars all round. 💯

Had a meal at Darcy's last night, it was a large group of us. The food was really nice, fresh ingredients and freshly cooked everyone enjoyed their meals, the service was outstanding. The staff remembered who was drinking what, quite a feat with 18 of us. We were so impressed we will be back even though it means a train journey but well worth the effort. A brilliant find. Thank you to the staff who helped make it a very pleasant evening.

We went here for a Xmas party, table of 18. I was worried if they would get the food out remotely together and if the quality would drop because of it. The service was superb and the food was even better. Great value for money at £35 for 3 courses. The food was well presented and tasted even better. Possibly the best roast potatoes I have had out. Shame I could only fot two in as my dinner came with black pudding mash. 100% recommended and will be back. Thank you to the team at Darcy's

Not the greatest, won't go too deep into detail. You didn't state your meals wasn't upto scratch the first time I asked you. Weak. You didn't tell me the scrap meat was under the half decent slice! Maybe you were let down by your staff on the day as we came because my mother inlaw had a good time before. But it only takes 1 member of staff thinking we dont matter to cause this.

Always friendly and a lovely atmosphere. Food always very good and it's great to have a place like this we can walk to. Their roasts are amazing.

Food was good. Service, however, was surly, almost rude from a mature waitress (not sure if owner?) The younger staff were very pleasant. We will not be returning, such a shame as we live just round the corner

Went along for the Thursday evening pie night with a couple of mates. Wow amazing choice of pies, went for the mash option over fries....the whole meal was so tasty and piping hot. The service was spot on! Will 100% be back and definitely would recommend checking it out...great choice of pizzas and lots more besides!! :)

Too many people in too small a space. The food was lovely and excellent quality, but forget being able to have a relaxed conversation with your partner as you eat, because the low ceiling means that sound has no escape and you will hear every shriek, laugh and cough as if in stereo!

A delightful bistro bar with excellent food and choices of drinks served by a friendly and efficient staff of mother and daughter and her aunt as well as others. No TVs thank goodness and good choice of background music. Well recommended.

Another fabulous Sunday lunch, with Mr Darcy in attendance! We are always made so welcomed, and they love our sprocker , Victor. Tough call whether it should be Eton mess or sticky toffee pudding.! Staff are wonderful so friendly and atmosphere is super.

Got a call from restaurant advising me the food has been sat waiting 30mins for a driver. They obviously cooked it too soon as my app showed no driver had been assigned. I revived my food 50mins after it was ready at the restaurant. I appreciate they have cost but they could have easily just swapped the burger bun so it wasn’t crispy like toast from where it had sat on a hot plate

Went for Sunday Roast at Darcy's. I had the roast lamb and it was delicious. The restaurant was packed so I could forgive the slow service as it was naturally the busiest time . Staff were lovely and the food was excellent. The roast choices are beef, chicken, turkey or lamb, and there a vegetarian options as well. I look forward to visiting again. As well as eating in they also do meals to take away, a useful thing if they are fully booked and you can't get a table you can still get a meal to eat at home.

Was very busy and squashed in, had to wait quiet a long time to give order, and table next to us ordered after us but got there food way before us... prob better to go later on in the day as too busy and very noisy!

All I can say is Wow 🤩 what a beautiful dining experience, from the starter thru to main coarse and the dessert. This is definitely a hidden gem in southbourne from the decor down to the ambiance that comes in bucket loads as soon as you walk thru the front door , the starter was so tasty I literally could not not wait for the main course , followed by a sumptuous dessert all washed down with a Few wines and finished off with a liquor coffee . Outstanding service food and atmosphere, this is definitely a place to vist for gorgeous well presented food and can’t wait to return

Very friendly, informal and relaxed venue with strong local allegiance. We went specifically for the highly rated Sunday roast (choice of 1/2/3 courses) which was delicious, and were impressed by its popularity not only with diners but with people who had ordered takeaway roasts. Our only criticism would be with having a shop doorway, it can be draughty. There are also happy hour cocktails, Pie nights and a last Saturday of the month Cabaret.

First time visiting! Definitely will be going back breakfast delicious, fresh and good value for money

My first visit to this bar and kitchen was for a morning sandwich and a coffee, it is lovely inside and the staff member was very helpful and accomodating. I'd recommend Darcy's bar and kitchen to anyone in or around the area. Can't wait to come back to test an evening out.

I had my birthday dinner there with several members of my family. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. There was abut 14/15 of us in our group, we were all served together, which was great. Often with bigger numbers the service is staggered. Just got to add the sticky toffee pudding is to die for, so yummy. Will definitely be going back. Definite 5 Star rating for Darcy's Bar and Kitchen 🌟

We went here for a quick drink on a Friday night, before eating elsewhere locally. It's surprisingly large inside and very nicely decorated. Really friendly staff. Table service. Busy and vibrant. Not overwhelmingly trendy or full of arriviste numbskulls (I'm looking at you Ashley Cross). Overall, a lovely bar with nice looking food (although not tried by us).

Best burger, chips and coleslaw I have ever had.

We called in here during a trip to the South Coast, and what a find! Probably the best pizza from Bournemouth to Christchurch, lovely staff and a great group of locals. All in all a fabulous night out.

We were here for a private 60th birthday party. Fantastic food, wonderful staff and the entertainment was outstanding! Will definitely return to try their famous Sunday roast.

What a wonderful and ACCESSIBLE place to go. The staff are awesome and being an older woman I happily found them totally impartial, a raritey at times. My Granddaughter and I just popped in as passing, AND as her name is Darci haha. Allow signs were up for a Private Function, gratefully they agreed to serve us. Exhausted after Sainsburys and card and Internet trouble. It was a welcome break to dismount from mobby scooter and sit down at a table in the sunshine. Best chocolate milkshake ever declared Darci. I tasted it and agreed. We know the recipe and we're not saying, sorry you'll have to try! Wonderful staff, clran and organised venue. Excellent price, and beautifully decorated for tonight's party. Well packaged and hot. Absolutely amazing we’ll stacked burgers! Chips were chunky and crispy and coleslaw was so fresh. This is my new favourite place to get gourmet burgers

Love the atmosphere, service first class and we decided to eat as sitting in due to covid restrictions.. best decision in a long time... If you like a burger or proper pizza with a drink around dinner time can't fault it.. but I'm not gonna recommend it because I don't want it getting too busy and I'd rather it kept secret..
