Small cafe with large outdoor seating serving great malaysian food - we went for lunch, they had beef rendang and chicken ayam as well as three vegetable dishes. The serving size of the chicken was large! I had the bandung which was also perfect and just as I remember. They also had teh tarik and milo.

This place is a hidden gem for curry lovers. The food is delicious, with rich flavors and generous portions. While the staff can be a bit busy and the ordering system takes some getting used to, the quality of the food more than makes up for it. A great spot for a quick, satisfying lunch

If you live in London, you know finding true good food without the nonsense of being instagrammable, is hard to find. Dapur is one of these spots. The portions are great, the food variety is always top notch. Yes the atmosphere is just a small cafe with no extra frills but that's what i love about it. Potential only area to improve is that the cendol is meh but everything else is perfect

I absolutely love this place but get there early because they often sell out! I wish I could go here any time of day. I’ve tried countless Malaysian restaurants around london and I’ve lived in Malaysia. This food is as close as it gets to authentic traditional Malaysian food. If you’re in central London get there for lunch!

Finally visited the famous Dapur in London. Some Malaysians are shocked I’ve lived in London for several years and have never been here. Dapur lives up to its hype. I can understand now where the famous quote “if you come after 4pm, there’ll be no more lauk lah”. Exceptional taste and texture, tastes exactly like home with very generous portions. Has outside seating for the hot summer which gives a bit of warung vibes. Can makan dengan tangan also. Needless to say but for tagging purposes, it is 100% halal.

After wanting to visit Dapur for a long time I was finally able to find the time to visit also as on Fridays there are plenty of seafood options! The service was very friendly and helpful and it felt very much like a family run place with the extra care that you sometimes see from family businesses. The menu is interesting and changes every day which is great! I couldn't get enough of the lovely fish and prawns with the coconut rice! It felt like I was in Malaysia with a lovely outdoor eating place and the sound of other diners enjoying their feast! I'm hoping to try their pineapple curry when they make it but definitely this will be a go to place on Fridays! It would be great if they do make more seafood on other days but I would definitely recommend this hidden treasure!

Cheeky Monday off today! We decided to use it to visit Dapur since it's only open on weekdays. After reading all the reviews, we decided to be early to avoid the disappointment of food running out! As usual, our eyes are bigger than our bellies so we went for the 3 dishes + nasi lemak option... The hubby went for the beef ribs, honey chicken and sambal ladies fingers whereas I had the lamb curry, chicken curry and mixed vegetables. Overall taste was authentic and portions were super generous! Our only complaint was that the beef was very tough which was a bit of a waste but otherwise everything was delicious and we were absolutely stuffed! If you're around the Holborn area on a weekday and fancy some authentic Malaysian dishes, please pop by. Make sure you are early though and beat the lunch crowd!

This is the most authentic tasting malaysian Halal restaurant in central London. It's not an over statement as the queues at lunch time bear witness, with people in the queue that stretches outside the doors! (🎥Watch our 'dapur' full YouTube videos) https://youtu.be/ZBW7heRKx-M If you've ever been to Malaysia then you'll know that this food is the real deal! From their freshly hand made sambal blended in house, to nasi lemak dishes with mighty generous portions, itik rendang, and ayam dishes also on the menu. The menu changes daily, so many people will check out their Instagram before coming down which is updated every morning. There is seating outside and the takeaway portion is the same tremendous amount that you get if you eat in, The staff are very honest and welcoming ma shallah, and always happy to advise on the spice level of the dish you are ordering or in fact what you are ordering, as a lot of customers become over whelmed by the sheer delicious look of the food on offer. It's the one folks, no doubt about that! Allahuma Barik to dapur.

Dapur's logo says 'a taste of home' and I can 100% confirm that this shop delivers exactly that. None of the Malaysian food in UK ever really wowed me as much as dapur, primarily because most malaysian restaurants have a fusion element to it, which kind of tones down the food to suite local tastebuds rather than bring authentic taste. Dapur's food differs, and it is in my opinion as authentic as it can get in the UK in terms of delivering high quality Malaysian food. Their team was friendly and even this itself was an understatement because the environment and the food combined just made me feel as if i was eating my nasi lemak curry ayam telur kicap at home. Will be back to try their ikan siakap next time round, on fridays only if i remember correctly as fridays are exclusively where they bring out their seafood dishes. Kudos to dapur!

This is a real hidden gem in London. I don’t think it’s too much to say it’s one of the best food I’ve ever tried in London, bringing me straight back to Malaysia. The meat was cooked very well, just slipping off the bone with quite a spicy note. Fish was crunchy even with the sauce. It was that kind of spiciness that is hot but you can’t stop eating. Their price a real bargain right at central London. I’d recommend to visit the restaurant before 1pm to have full options.

The staff is so kind and attentive 😊 they make you feel at home by explaining every dish they offer and cook with so much patience and love. The three of us ordered option 2 which includes nasi lemak + 2 dishes. After trying the beef, lamb, chicken, the pineapple and the mix of vegetables, we concluded that the best combination was beef + mix of vegetables. We arrived at 11:30 and there were around 8 people already having lunch. When we left at noon the place was packed! So my recommendation would be to arrive early.

Excellent Nasi Kandar (rotating choices of delicious and authentic Malaysian rice and curries, side dishes) style casual dining establishment based in the heart of Holborn, frequented by office workers and students alike. I had the three curry and nasi lemak option with a hot teh Tarik. The price to quantity ratio is adequate, although i did see other reviews mentioning the bone-in meat, which does have the effect of bulking out the portions on the plate. Other than that, my only qualms would be: that dishes could do with English translations to save servers’ time explaining, the fact there is not enough seating (there’s spillover seating outside but it is prone to being bitterly cold) and also the fact that they only open for weekday lunch! The place will go far if they expand their seating and hours, as the cuisine rivals other central London Malaysian restaurants.

Don’t get me wrong the food at Dapur is EXQUISITE. The problem is this restaurant is too popular for its own good. If you arrive past 12:30, don’t expect to eat here. The food will have run out due to Dapur’s lack of supply & the crazy demand for the delicious Malay food. I’ve been to this restaurant 7 times and only got to eat here twice. This place is the British Equivalent of the Seinfeld Soup Kitchen. It’s loved, but too many times have I been turned away for the lack of food. I can respect the philosophy of cooking once and selling what you have until it runs out. However some people commute LONG distances to eat. My girlfriend came all the way from America to eat here and we were turned away because this restaurant ran out of food at 1 when it closes at 5. Don’t advertise that this place is open till 5. save people the time & money from their commute if the food is out. Make a website or something where you can preorder food or check if the kitchen still has any. Because frankly this restaurant is on the cuff of greatness.

Homey canteen style Malaysian restaurant. Flavors were bold and the price to value ratio is high. Large portions: the two of us shared the one plate with three dishes option. My one complaint is they use cheaper cuts of meat. The beef ribs were tough and sinewy, lots of gristle that made it difficult to eat and not particularly appetizing. The chicken was good. I love Dapur. Been here twice on two separate trips to London, portions are huge (£13 each for these plates - one rice and two sides), the sambal is well-rounded with umami and spice. You’re able to choose between plain rice and Nasi lemak, and we both got Nasi Lemak because why would you want to miss out on this fragrant coconut goodness for the same price? Sayur lodeh hit the spot, as did the ayam kari berempah. One thing I’d skip is the calamansi drink but everything else was super great and delicious, plus the team is so friendly.

For the price tag of around 11 GBP to 13GBP ( depending on the type of meat you choose) it was sooo worth it!!! OMG … the absolutely best and most amazing little eatery in the area. And hands down the finest Malaysian food in London … I found this place by chance yesterday and was so glad I did as was getting bored with Leather Lane food market… this little gem has the most amazing food & the flavours are truly out of this world. It really did bring a flashback on my time in KL many moons ago … the team are so lovely and kind. The portion sizes are HUGE and I have a big appetite! - had to leave some for today… the Nasi Lemak wv 3 curries is only £15 (pictured) and seriously enough for 2 meals/persons.. this will definitely be a weekly spot for me. Not many seats inside - probably about 6, thankfully there’s some seating outside under canopy. But who cares when I can carry back tk the office with a little spring in my step …. Absolutely worth a try and won’t blow the bank as other meals are far less than £15 … Thank you team Dapur 🙏🏾

Popped in on recommendation for lunch. There are several options, I had option 1 which was rice with spicy chicken. Had a cordial drink with it, which I thought was expensive but very refreshing. The chicken was plentiful and very spicy, which was great. I did find the chicken very stringy and had very little meat on it. So the majority of my plate was actually bone. So perhaps I made the wrong choice. I would return but perhaps go for the vegetarian option which looked great too. It is reasonable value for the location but not a cheap option in my view.

Dapur is tucked away on Lamb's Conduit Passage and offers open air seating under the trees in the courtyard. This type of outdoor eating with table umbrellas is, in London, is as close as you can get to an authentic Malaysian experience. When I arrived, at 12 noon, some items were already sold out. Plus, they close at 3pm. You snooze, you lose! What is the food like? I tried the nasi lemak (coconut rice, sambal, boiled egg) with ayam berempah (Malay-style spiced chicken) and kale in curried coconut milk. For such a greedy meal only £14.50. Photos included. Very nice, good hit of home Dapur cooking. (Dapur means 'kitchen' in Malay). Service - the serving team are friendly and helpful. As it should be if you are Malaysian. Overall, a lovely little gem - there are other independent eating places around the area (it's close to a university) but this one, definitely go.

The food was super authentic and super delicious! Would definitely eat here again! My mouth drools every time I look at the photo of the dish I ordered! The dish with a drink was only GBP 14! Excellent value and most definitely worth it! This is now officially my favourite restaurant in the entire UK.

Walking into Dapur, my senses were instantly hit by the delicious smells of rempah (spices), my ears tuned to Malay being spoken, and my eyes were running across the Nasi Lemak buffet. You guys are truly a tribute to Malaysian cuisine. Highly recommended. The tables outside are perfect for a lunch break.

Very authentic Malaysian food! We had nasi lemak with chicken for £10 - it’s delicious and the portion is quite big. Perhaps, they can give more peanuts and anchovies 😊. There are 4 tables inside the restaurant and many more outside. Staff are very friendly and polite. Highly recommended!

Hubby & I went to Dapur in Holborn 1st time on 13 June 2023, the Lamb masturi & sayur lodeh tasted like in Malaysia. Owner Faridah is so lovely & so are the assistants. Lamb so good even ordered portion to take home! Can't stop telling everyone about the Taste of Dapur, already planning next visit - Jumpa lagi Dapur!

Delighted! Food was excellent and servers were nice. I had Kuew Tiaw Bungkus Beef from today's special. It was the best one ever. Can't wait to go Back.

Delicious (and affordable) Malaysian food in town. Unfortunately they only open for lunch. As mains, we ordered a Mie Kari Ayam (chicken curry noodle) for £15 and a rice set option with 2 dishes - lamb curry and courgette stir fry - for £12.50. And for the appetiser, we had Keropok Lekor (£6) which looked very similar to Otak-otak from Indonesia. Both main dishes were delicious and very flavourful. The Mie Kari Ayam was spicy and hot! 🔥 but still enjoyable for us. So be careful if you want to order this. The rice mix portion was HUGE! It was very fulfilling for us. Our favourite was the Keropok Lekor!! We hadn’t been able to find this dish anywhere in London and they served it well.

One of the best place to have authentic malay food. We ordered Nasi Lemak, Nasi Goreng. Never been so happy while trying new food. (The chicken soup was the star for us!) If you are in London and want to try authentic malay food, Dapur is the one place you should try!

Absolutely divine Malaysian cuisine. So full of spices and flavour. Prepare to sweat with pure joy. If you like Malaysian curry / cuisine, this is a must try in London.

I recently dined at Banana Tree, and it was a truly great experience! Everything we ordered was fresh. The service was outstanding—would like to mention Kainat, Erik, Robert and Krishna for being professional. The welcoming atmosphere added to the overall enjoyment of our meal. I highly recommend Banana Tree for anyone seeking great food and excellent service. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
