Delicious authentic Malaysian cuisine. Small restaurant with few indoor seating options. It was very nice outside in the yard when the sun was shining. Nasi Lemak with beef is highly recommended, meat melts in the mouth, very well seasoned, spiciness is still bearable for my European palate.

Excellent Nasi Kandar (rotating choices of delicious and authentic Malaysian rice and curries, side dishes) style casual dining establishment based in the heart of Holborn, frequented by office workers and students alike. I had the three curry and nasi lemak option with a hot teh Tarik. The price to quantity ratio is adequate, although i did see other reviews mentioning the bone-in meat, which does have the effect of bulking out the portions on the plate. Other than that, my only qualms would be: that dishes could do with English translations to save servers’ time explaining, the fact there is not enough seating (there’s spillover seating outside but it is prone to being bitterly cold) and also the fact that they only open for weekday lunch! The place will go far if they expand their seating and hours, as the cuisine rivals other central London Malaysian restaurants.

This is the most authentic tasting malaysian Halal restaurant in central London. It's not an over statement as the queues at lunch time bear witness, with people in the queue that stretches outside the doors! (🎥Watch our 'dapur' full YouTube videos) https://youtu.be/ZBW7heRKx-M If you've ever been to Malaysia then you'll know that this food is the real deal! From their freshly hand made sambal blended in house, to nasi lemak dishes with mighty generous portions, itik rendang, and ayam dishes also on the menu. The menu changes daily, so many people will check out their Instagram before coming down which is updated every morning. There is seating outside and the takeaway portion is the same tremendous amount that you get if you eat in, The staff are very honest and welcoming ma shallah, and always happy to advise on the spice level of the dish you are ordering or in fact what you are ordering, as a lot of customers become over whelmed by the sheer delicious look of the food on offer. It's the one folks, no doubt about that! Allahuma Barik to dapur.

Don’t get me wrong the food at Dapur is EXQUISITE. The problem is this restaurant is too popular for its own good. If you arrive past 12:30, don’t expect to eat here. The food will have run out due to Dapur’s lack of supply & the crazy demand for the delicious Malay food. I’ve been to this restaurant 7 times and only got to eat here twice. This place is the British Equivalent of the Seinfeld Soup Kitchen. It’s loved, but too many times have I been turned away for the lack of food. I can respect the philosophy of cooking once and selling what you have until it runs out. However some people commute LONG distances to eat. My girlfriend came all the way from America to eat here and we were turned away because this restaurant ran out of food at 1 when it closes at 5. Don’t advertise that this place is open till 5. save people the time & money from their commute if the food is out. Make a website or something where you can preorder food or check if the kitchen still has any. Because frankly this restaurant is on the cuff of greatness.

Homey canteen style Malaysian restaurant. Flavors were bold and the price to value ratio is high. Large portions: the two of us shared the one plate with three dishes option. My one complaint is they use cheaper cuts of meat. The beef ribs were tough and sinewy, lots of gristle that made it difficult to eat and not particularly appetizing. The chicken was good. The green curry was great. Solid casual lunch place. I can see why it’s popular with students.

I love Dapur. Been here twice on two separate trips to London, portions are huge (£13 each for these plates - one rice and two sides), the sambal is well-rounded with umami and spice. You’re able to choose between plain rice and Nasi lemak, and we both got Nasi Lemak because why would you want to miss out on this fragrant coconut goodness for the same price? Sayur lodeh hit the spot, as did the ayam kari berempah. One thing I’d skip is the calamansi drink but everything else was super great and delicious, plus the team is so friendly.

Love love LOVED Dapur’s Food. I had the nasi lemak with one meat, if im not wrong it’s Daging Paprika and mum had nasi lemak with one meat as well with lamb black pepper. The meats were soooo tender and the portions were so generous!! I thought they would give maybe 1-2 pieces of meat but i was so pleasantly surprised that there were atleast 5 pieces of meat on my plate!! For the price tag of around 11 GBP to 13GBP ( depending on the type of meat you choose) it was sooo worth it!!! The staff are so professional and warm as well :) The bandung cincau comes with air soda so if you like abit of gas in your drink then order that. can’t wait to be back at dapur :)

OMG … the absolutely best and most amazing little eatery in the area. And hands down the finest Malaysian food in London … I found this place by chance yesterday and was so glad I did as was getting bored with Leather Lane food market… this little gem has the most amazing food & the flavours are truly out of this world. It really did bring a flashback on my time in KL many moons ago … the team are so lovely and kind. The portion sizes are HUGE and I have a big appetite! - had to leave some for today… the Nasi Lemak wv 3 curries is only £15 (pictured) and seriously enough for 2 meals/persons.. this will definitely be a weekly spot for me. Not many seats inside - probably about 6, thankfully there’s some seating outside under canopy. But who cares when I can carry back tk the office with a little spring in my step …. Absolutely worth a try and won’t blow the bank as other meals are far less than £15 … Thank you team Dapur 🙏🏾

Popped in on recommendation for lunch. There are several options, I had option 1 which was rice with spicy chicken. Had a cordial drink with it, which I thought was expensive but very refreshing. The chicken was plentiful and very spicy, which was great. I did find the chicken very stringy and had very little meat on it. So the majority of my plate was actually bone. So perhaps I made the wrong choice. I would return but perhaps go for the vegetarian option which looked great too. It is reasonable value for the location but not a cheap option in my view.

Dapur is tucked away on Lamb's Conduit Passage and offers open air seating under the trees in the courtyard. This type of outdoor eating with table umbrellas is, in London, is as close as you can get to an authentic Malaysian experience. When I arrived, at 12 noon, some items were already sold out. Plus, they close at 3pm. You snooze, you lose! What is the food like? I tried the nasi lemak (coconut rice, sambal, boiled egg) with ayam berempah (Malay-style spiced chicken) and kale in curried coconut milk. For such a greedy meal only £14.50. Photos included. Very nice, good hit of home Dapur cooking. (Dapur means 'kitchen' in Malay). Service - the serving team are friendly and helpful. As it should be if you are Malaysian. Overall, a lovely little gem - there are other independent eating places around the area (it's close to a university) but this one, definitely go.

As mains, we ordered a Mie Kari Ayam (chicken curry noodle) for £15 and a rice set option with 2 dishes - lamb curry and courgette stir fry - for £12.50. And for the appetiser, we had Keropok Lekor (£6) which looked very similar to Otak-otak from Indonesia. Both main dishes were delicious and very flavourful. The Mie Kari Ayam was spicy and hot! 🔥 but still enjoyable for us. So be careful if you want to order this. The rice mix portion was HUGE! It was very fulfilling for us. How is it I have yet to leave a five-star review for quite possibly my favourite Malay restaurant on earth (yes this sometimes even trumps Malay food in Malaysia of which I have sampled a great deal). Going to Dapur is like a trip home minus the expensive flight and jet lag. Every gulai, rendang and lauk served here is a labour of love - all hand written in Malay and with stunning food that the average Malaysian rarely encounters unless they’re at a Hari Raya open house or a wedding. Dishes such as ayam mahsuri, nasi goreng kampung, dalca, sayur lodeh and a whole host of Johorean specialities are hard to find anywhere else and I have been to most of the Malaysian restaurants in London - there is more to Malaysian cuisine than satay and roti and Dapur will open your taste buds and palate to this exciting journey. Nasi lemak here comes with all the condiments and you can choose any of the aforementioned dishes above - they rotate on a daily basis and even after years of being a Dapur regular I never cease to find something new on the menu I’ve never tried. The team is friendly, warm and welcoming and I cannot emphasise how much it feels like home to me. Thank you Dapur - you’re the reason Malaysian food has an excellent reputation in London

Tiny interior with two tables but a good thing there is loads of Outdoor seating under an umbrella in case it is hot. Close to a selection of malay food found in Malaysia. Had the Two dish with nasi lemak. Realise that no veg other than two slices of cucumber Lamb curry was mostly spine pieces so limited meat, initially tender but then chewy toward bone Chicken with mushroom was on the drier side Rice was ok- could be more fragrant Anchovies was good as the Sambal and roasted peanut. After eating you hand in your plate and get rid of your own waste and leave plates in a tray at the front door- very much like a canteen.

Sadly came for the beef rendang and it wasn't available. Asked if there was a kids option and was told yes, then somehow got charged adult price. Staff were half paying attention and doing other things while ordering, we were the only customers being served at the time. Their lamb was inedible, it was extremely tough and chewy, had to leave half of it. Overall paid £28 for 2 meals and 1 drink. Grossly overpriced for the quality. I've had a lot of authentic Malay food in Malaysia and this wasn't on the same level. Unfortunately I wouldn't be coming here again. Transparency on pricing and customer service goes a long way. Disappointed, but hopefully you find this feedback constructive.

The lemon tea, crispy mango chicken and fried noodles are all very delicious for people who like sweet sour and hot food people. You can eat outside under a tree so it is a good place for summer!

Really really authentic Malaysian food! I’ll always come here when I need my home food fix and it always satisfies my cravings. The Nasi Lemak is so perfectly balanced - aromatic and yet not over-saturated with coconut milk. The individual dishes are all really good too and they all go so so well with the Nasi lemak. Definitely the best place to come to in London (and possibly the UK) for Malay cuisine - seriously it does not get better than this!! :-)

Stopped in for lunch as the waft of the cooking lured me in. I've never eaten Malaysian food before, and I now curse the time I wasted not doing so. Opted to eat in the nice shaded courtyard out the front, and ordered Coconut rice with the Lamb. The food is very well priced and the portions are generous without being overwhelming. The meal itself was delicious, a nice kick to the sauce, good amounts of lamb on the bone and a real home cooked taste. Will definitely return again and again, although as Dapur is round the corner from my gym, that may prove a little counter productive!

I can confirm that their Nasi Lemak and beef rendang is excellent and authentic. One of the best places for beef rendang in London. I do not like the bihun goreng (rice vermicelli) however, it is too wet for me but that's a personal preference. If you are after a good Nasi lemak and beef rendang, this is the place.

Just like home. I was served with friendly voices, I had the dishes like in Malaysia. Might not be a spicy sambal I'm used to because the locals don't eat Asean-level spicy food but I enjoyed my meal & teh tarik very much. If you miss Malaysia, come here. Recommended. (P/S: I edited to 5 ⭐ because they gave ABC to try 😂)

Best Malaysian / Indonesian restaurant in London by far! Firstly, let me address the 1 star comments because I just laughed for 5 mins straight reading them!! I love to smile and laugh, and share the love with others and with this vibe, I feel the staff in Dapur have some of the BEST service that I know of in London. And I’ve lived in London for 23 years. If you are self loathing and project that onto other people then of course you’ll go out of your way to criticise good people - so if anything, the one star comments just highlight how the angels at Dapur irritarte the demons within some people! 😂 Secondly, just go and look at @dapur on Instagram - the food speaks for itself so I don’t need to gas it up. After seeing the one star comments I had to write my first Google review of my life because Dapur is just that good. And btw, if you don’t like spicy food, just ask them for the least spicy dish they have or you can always stay at home and have beans on toast hahahaha 😆 Now look at m the photos I’ve posted and tell me thats not a BIG fact!

Delicious - and sizeable! - summer rolls, with a tasty, piquant, peanut sauce, served by friendly, delightful, staff. It was very reasonably priced.
