Absolutely phenomenal cafe great food with good vegan options which is something my partner has trouble finding often whilst out and about super friendly and polite staff and always good music to boot. Damn fine staff, damn fine atmosphere, damn fine food, damn fine cafe 👌

We booked a table in the morning as previously we have been and not been able to get a table. We had a pushchair with us and wanted to make sure we had enough space and didn’t feel in the way. The staff were more than helpful with this and arranged a table perfect for us. The menu is so varied and you’d struggle to not find something on there you wanted. We had a full English, pork roast dinner and a pork roast dinner in a giant Yorkshire. The food was amazing, couldn’t fault it. As people have previously said on reviews the sausages weren’t great but I’m not a massive sausage fan anyway so didn’t really mind them all that much. It came out hot and presentable. Reasonably priced. The staff were lovely and made us feel incredibly welcome. I also had a chocolate milkshake and that was delicious. Can’t wait to return.

A busy cafe but friendly, helpful staff. There is a large selection of food and drink, we opted for the full English breakfast and eggs benedict which were on the larger portion size and both tasty. Worth a look if visiting Lichfield.

I came here after a work night out. I can safely say it was a good experience and the breakfast was nice. It did feel a little rushed but I don’t blame them the customers were happy.

Booked for a work breakfast, I was really impressed with the politeness, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Helped us with changing out items on menu items and updated us with how long food would take. It felt like they really wanted us to enjoy our visit. They handled a large group order really well.The food was really nice, good quality and at a good price. Definitely will go back when in Lichfield.

Went there for working lunch yesterday. We were pressed for time and checked that they would be able to serve us quickly, as they were nearly full. They promised that they could, and didn't disappoint. Tasty food, generous portions, prompt and friendly service and helpful attitude, reasonable prices - what's not to like. I have to admit that I have walked past many times without stopping, but I can see myself going back often. One of the best value for money meals I have had in Lichfield.

Me and my boyfriend visited here on Saturday. As someone who eats out a lot I can honestly say this was the best breakfast we have had so far. You get so much for your money, the waitress’ are so friendly and welcoming even when they are incredibly busy. I had the veggie breakfast and my boyfriend the full English - this wasn’t even the large one! I would personally recommend the late with vanilla syrup, beats any late I’ve had before. We will 100 percent be back hopefully every weekend and couldn’t recommend anymore than I have!

Can’t recommend enough, lovely very friendly service, I had a warm baguette which was so large I didn’t need to eat again that day!

This was the first place we visited once the lockdown was eased. I was nervous but staff made me feel at ease. Every precaution was taken to make our visit as safe as possible. The food was fresh and service was great. I had a vegetarian breakfast which was filling and delicious. Will definitely be returning.

We felt very welcomed when we arrived and throughout our visit, we all had a baguette and were all divine! Loved how they are made fresh to each order and were well presented, great selection of foods to choose from. Had the pancakes too as I could not resist, they were beautiful! If we come back to lichfield we will definitely return, would highly recommend

Popped in for breakfast after reading such good reviews and was not disappointed. Strict adherence to covid measures, fab friendly service and excellent cooked brekkie in a yorkie. I had a veggie option and my hubby had the carnivore version - both were delicious. We have a boat in a marina close by and this will be our go to breakfast/brunch spot from now on!

A lovely day so perfect for sitting outside. Eggs benedict was excellent. Staff served you at your table, they were friendly. It did take a while to receive order after ordering.

Good Breakfast as always . Returned for the first time since Covid 19 crisis. Disappointed with the attention to detail over the current situation. Paper menus in constant use . They should be disposed after each use . No track and trace . Staff using mobile phones in between service . Most of the staff dipping into counter sweet jar ?? Made me feel uncomfortable during my stay . Such a shame under the circumstances. They need toPay more attention to detail during this difficult time .Sadly, Won’t be returning any time soon .

Came here for breakfast during our stay in Lichfield. Social distancing was adhered to, Food was excellent, coffee hot and staff were very friendly. So good we came back the next day. Can highly recommend :)

Nice breakfast and cafe atmosphere, although service seemed a little harried when I visited, the cafe is small but clearly popular and was busy but not too much. Staff were friendly if a little easily confused. Food was tasty and good value but drinks were pricey (£1.20 for very cheap bottled water).

We were regulars here with the previous owners and have continued with the new as it’s just a great cafe with consistent good hearty food and a relaxed setting. Nice specials, soup tasters always nice to try and welcoming to families.

As a person who needs gluten free foods, what a pleasure to have choices. Very filling breakfast it even had GF sausages, hash browns and toast, amazing. See you other restaurants, it can be done!Staff friendly and welcoming. I shall visit again, in fact the friend who was with me took others only 2 days after our visit.Well done and thank you

Visited recently for breakfast I had a bacon bap & my Husband had beans on toast both were delicious 😋 the only negative I would say is the cooking smells in the cafe & I could smell it on my clothing after.

Damn fine food and damn fine service. What more can I say. Really good fresh wholesome food. Very popular situated on a very nice pedestrian thoroughfare.

This is our third visit to this cafe and is always the right choice. The food is excellent and although at first I thought a bit pricey you certainly get what you pay for. Great quality and well cooked. Added bonus is that it is piping hot. Would highly recommend. The big breakfast is a monster

It was my wife chose this cafe for our dinner and what a great choice. The quality of the food was excellent and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and did an excellent job. If we ever venture back to Lichfield (which was lovely), we will definitely return to the Damn Fine Cafe.

A fabulous breakfast had by all. From full English to the odd yet brilliant Yorkshire pudding breakfast. Came to Lichfield to visit family for a couple of weeks and I’m tempted to get all of my breakfasts from here for the rest of my stay!

When we go into fantastic Lichfield to shop and lunch we make a bee line to the Damfine cafe who do a great selection of good food, service is first class and prices to suit all pockets. Give it a try and treat yourselves.

We only wanted coffee & cake before heading off to catch our respective trains, which was fortunate because we were told as we entered that this was all they had. It was about 3pm on a Saturday afternoon and yet there was very little left then they started closing up, though they were happy for us to stay and finish our drinks. Not what I expected from all the positive reviews.

This is such a nice cafe, my husband and I had the traditional breakfast which was really enjoyable just the right amount and very tasty. Service was prompt and attentive all in all a really nice place to eat definitely we will back 😀

Instantly greeted and made welcome. It was a busy Saturday morning and we grabbed the last table. The staff all busy but smiling clearly working hard and they all seemed to take a pride in their jobs. We both enjoyed a well cooked quality breakfast and the lattes where very nice. Highly recommend a stop here for food.

We visited the cafe on bank holiday Monday for breakfast and despite it being very busy (it was Bower day) we were really well looked after. All the staff were really friendly and couldn’t do enough to be help.

A favourite of our family (inc the vegetarians), with a scrumptious breakfast which, for the really large appetite, can be served in a yorkshire pudding! Friendly service and somewhere I'm always happy to go.

It’s not the biggest seller for me but worth noting that the cafe has a licence so you can have a glass of wine, a beer or even a champagne breakfast, the prices are fair.

Who makes a bacon sarnie without any butter? Yep, the Damn Fine Cafe. When I asked for some, I was given a rock hard little pack of Lurpak, which by the time I’d persuaded it to spread on the bread the bacon was cold. Also a very small teapot for two of us for £4!! Had to ask for extra hot water - other tables of two had a much bigger teapot - 2 extra cups inside at least.

Always have a lovely lunch here! One of my fav cafes in Lichfield! Egg mayo and crispy bacon baguette is the best 😍

Ate here on a windy Saturday and the cafe was full when we arrived. They took my number & promptly called when 1 came available. GF breakfast on offer, good size and reasonable price. Warning - hashbrowns fried in same fryer as other so CC risk but GF sausages make up for giving those a miss. All in all an enjoyable experience. 2 x breakfasts, cappuccino, tea and a can of Pepsi - £19

We called here after calling at Pom almost next door and what a difference the staff were very welcoming [not a Pom] the food was just what we wanted and freshly cooked all presented well and was very tasty.We will return to this great place next time we are in Lichfield.

Having been able to get a table elsewhere we gave here a try. We are glad we did. Good menu, you order and pay at the counter. Good food, neither of us could finish the burger, too much!

Visited Lichfield cathedral on the way to Birmingham and called here for breakfast having used TripAdvisor to locate somewhere nice close by. Food was fresh and served quickly, and good value for money. If I was being picky I would be happy to pay a bit more for tastier sausages, but excellent portions for the price. The tea was brilliant, and served in a proper pot for 2, which was warmed through, so even after munching through the enormous breakfast it was still hot. The cafe was clean and nicely decorated, the staff friendly, and it's located on a nice pedestrianised street 5 minutes from the cathedral, and only 50 yards from a large council controlled car park. All in all well worth a visit.

Excellent food and service. Food is fresh, hot and very tasty. The manageress/owner is so friendly and helpful and all staff are so friendly. We had a delicious family breakfast here and will definitely be back for more. Couldn’t fault it.

Average cafe with average servings. Nothing different in terms of interior, just bog standard and basic. Pot of tea was an ‘average’ pyramid tea bag. Orange an chocolate cake was also OK.

A lovely welcome with a taster of glorious gluten and dairy free soup. I had the GF sausages, eggs, chips and beans. The plate looked full but I had no problem eating everything. Lovely to have a simple lunch dish that was so tasty.

Me and my girlfriend came here for Sunday Brunch and we weren't disappointed.

We went here for a lunchtime bite to eat, had the pork bap with stuffing and apple sauce, simply delicious, great staff, great service, great food not to mention the excellent coffee too. Also received a free taster of the tomato soup, gorgeous. We will be back of that we are certain.

We came here to eat on a day trip to Lichfield, encouraged by good reviews. Sadly they were not borne out. If the staff had put as much effort into the cooking as they did into talking with each other, all might have been well. But they didn't! 'Char-grilled' vegetables were small-diced and had been cooked until all the colour had leached out of them. Halloumi was pale and flaccid. The small helping of coleslaw had literally a tablespoon of raw onion in it. The pork baguette, though topped with good crackling, was pale and unappealingly dry. And with just a little love, skill, seasoning and fresh herbs it could have been so much better. Would not recommend

Great warm welcome into this city central cafe. Ordered the home made soups, plenty of it, so tasty and soo hot!and sandwiches.This has an open kitchen and is quite bijou, the food is excellent and so is the service.

My parents were so impressed, not being overly tech savvy, they asked me to write a review so here goes!

Myself and three friends tried to have lunch in the cafe (16/02/19) but it was very busy so we were asked to leave our number and would be called if a table became free which I thought was a lovely touch. Within ten minutes we were back in the cafe and sat down. Originally unsure of where to eat, we were encouraged by the fact that there wasn't an empty table and took it as a good sign.

Out lives up to its title and it has a nice menu and drinks and tha Is is where a burger connisuire would go

Used to be the best breakfast in town, sadly not anymore greasy and not to my liking anymore which is a shame because I was a regular visitor at one time.

Had breakfast here on a Sunday Absolutely average Sausages are ok, bacon was alright and the place is clean and tidy.

Popped in for breakfast hoping that the quality had improved since our last visit now the cafe is under new management. It seems that some of the standards have been lowered, particularly the orange juice. Having selected the Bacon and Egg baguette, I was looking forward to a treat but it only had two rashers of bacon in a baguette that was approx 9 inches long. So in effect, I was served a baguette with bacon rather than a deep filled bacon baguette. It's only a small issue but it results in the experience being more Damn Average than Damn Fine these days. Such a pity as this was our favourite place but now we need to search for another until quality standards improve.

Lovely City and if you are lucky enough to find a table here go for it.Lots of staff, good and reasonably priced food.Service prompt and nothing not to like but...... As the clientele has an average age of above 40,,don't know why they play such dreadful head banging much too loud music as they did today(Fri 11th Jan).Anyway,ear plugs next time but otherwise can't fault it.

After reading the reviews I decided to eat lunch here whilst shopping in Lichfield. Friendly staff greeted us and we sat down. Hubby wasnt hungry so I opted for the soup. It was cauliflower and celery, served with croutons and chunks of bread, also I was offered vegan spread which was wonderfully thoughtful.

but really delicious, well presented and all the staff here were friendly and efficient. We only had a short time available but when we ever get back to Lichfield again we will certainly return here!

We were a few minutes early for opening but the proprietor saw us and opened up telling us to come in out of the rain. Lovely friendly service and great food. I loved my latte but added some salt to it to bring out the nutty flavour

We visited the Damn Fine Cafe on a Saturday in the run up to Christmas. The cafe was busy and we sat outside with our dog.

My husband had the Christmas Baguette and I had the vegetarian sausage and egg sandwich. Both were very nice and had a good amount of filling. Service was very good and pleasant.

Wow, been here a few times for weekend breakfasts and it truly is amazing. The service is extremely warm and welcoming, staff are friendly and the food has always been delicious. Try the full English breakfast in a Yorkshire pudding, my husband is never disappointed!!

A group of ten of us were visiting Lichfield for the weekend and were looking for somewhere for a light lunch on what was a busy Saturday. Within minutes tables were found and food ordered and provided in a very quick and efficient way. The food was excellent, the girls - a delight to talk to. In all an excellent experience.

My wife had a cooked breakfast with a coffee. She absolutely loved it. I had a Gluten free cooked breakfast. It was definitely the best Gluten free breakfast I’ve ever had. Outstanding service. Staff all very well trained and very friendly. Great value for money. My wife liked the coffee so much she had two cups.

Visited this unpretentious establishment with a group of seven. The staff went out of their way to seat such a large group. We all marvelled at the large portions and the attentiveness of the excellent staff. The food was delicious. This in my experience is the best place to eat lunch in Litchfield and we definitely will return.

We went in today to try out their large breakfast and were not disappointed, beautifully cooked and not in the least greasy. Got to admit it was pretty big, I honestly don’t think I could eat one everyday, not without becoming humongous, but I would happily do one every week - definitely recommended.

Went with a party for a meal of pulled pork but the item was no longer on the menu. Staff very apologetic and we had a good alternative. Must get there earlier as the Cafe is very popular. Will certainly go again just to catch the pulled pork.

Despite a queue outside, we quickly got a table. Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Wine or beer available. Children very welcome.

Just before noon on a Saturday, the inside and outside tables were all full. The helpful staff squeezed us onto an occupied table. The menu is extensive, offering all-day breakfast and other more lunch-type dishes. We opted for breakfast/brunch; the portions were very generous and the service reasonably fast. Not outstanding, but it served the purpose!

They do really nice food here that arrives very quickly however as soon as you have swallowed your last mouthful they already have the next people waiting for your table and pushing you to go out the door quickly. I understand they make more money the more quickly they get on to the next people but it is really offputting! They should wait until late you leave the table of your own accord, what if you were getting up to order more food/drinks?!

I sat outside with my dog and a bowl of water was produced immediately. There was a slight mistake with my order and the staff were charming and helpful and really made me feel a valued customer. The coffee was of a good quality and my lunch was lovely. There is a varied menu and good choice of drinks.

I took my parents to this excellent cafe after a visit to the Cathedral. The staff were friendly and very efficient. The food was delicious and we thought very good value for money. I would definitely recommend this lovely cafe and as previously stated in another review it really lives up to it's name!

Visited for lunch with my friend and her baby. The food we ordered was lovely, high chair was provided for the baby, service quick and staff helpful. Was really surprised that they had no changing facilities for the baby, seen as they offer high chairs they obviously cater for families with babies. This really was a let down for such a nice place to eat and we probably would not return if we had the baby with us.

Whenever we go to this eating establishment, we are never ever disappointed. As mentioned in my title, it lives up to its name, if not surpasses it. On this occasion, I went for the vegetarian breakfast and my wife decided she would try one of the delicious baguettes on offer. Both were served promptly and were of an excellent quality. The only reason I am not awarding five stars is that some might feel it is slightly pricey, but that should not deter you one iota. We shall return without fail. Thank you.

Without a shadow of a doubt the best breakfast in Lichfield! Always hot and quality and I always get a sausage for my dog:-) I’ve tried everywhere for breakfast and nobody gets anywhere near Dam fine.

This is a very good bistro type cafe. The food is of a really high quality, portions are spot on and the staff are delightful. Definitely returning.

Having been let down by Poms who needed half an hour to set their kitchen up for lunch at 11.30am we went next door to Damn Fine for breakfast. I am already suspicious of trip advisor ratings ( this place gets rated very highly) but wasn't terribly impressed with the slightly scruffy air to the place. Lots of bits of paper tacked to the wall and a general need of a paint job.

Lovely place, very popular serving good honest food that's not pretentious but not greasy spoon either, some great cooking and nice people.

We always enjoy the cooked breakfast here; good quality bacon and sausage. Staff friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.
