As soon as we arrived they asked us if we were queer and then gave us a lecture about how to behave in a club which was incredibly patronising. Then security started picking on my boyfriend saying he was too drunk for no reason whatsoever because he wasn’t even drunk! The whole process was super unnecessary and just made us feel uncomfortable - won’t be coming back and recommend you save your time and don’t go either.

me and my friends are members of the lgbtqia+ community and weren’t allowed access to the club because some random on the door assumed we were straight… someone on the door aggressively asked us ‘what day is it today?’ and we answered ‘saturday night’ because we thought we were being quizzed to check whether were sober or not. the desired answer was that it’s trans pride, which our group actually knew but the question was asked so aggressively that we were totally thrown off. to be honest it feels so horrendous and upsetting to be an lgbtqia+ person expecting to go on a night out in a safe inclusive space and be rejected because someone on the door thinks youre just a straight person taking up space. defo will not be coming back here, you are not the berghain you think you are lmfao if you want to be an inclusive venue, you’re achieving the opposite.

Door staff need reminding about what their responsibilities actually are... It's not their responsibility to make people do catwalks to decide who is 'cool enough' to enter the queue (see video 1). Instead, it is their responsibility is to provide adequate first aid. That doesn't involve, when someone is collapsed, propping them up in splits with all their weight resting through their neck (see video 2). Glad you managed to sell her every drink you could though... Message for the managers; remind your door staff it is a condition of their SIA licensed status to wear the licence where the front can be seen at all times when engaging in the licensable activity. Equally, employing someone to do those activities who isn't licensed is an equally reportable offence. Shape up because it's being watched.

I used to enjoy this club but I won’t be back after this evening. In arrival the bouncer asked us if we knew it was a queer night (all of us are queer) we found it odd but said yes and that our friends were already inside. He then said that if we knew people inside that was too big of a group, and he would have to ask management if 4 of us could come in.. they let us in after a while but it started off the evening on a bad foot. Inside I went to the bar to get some water and the bartender was putting glasses down beside the water jugs, I took one and then realised there was no water in the jugs. The bartender then looked at me judgingly and said “they’re obviously dirty glasses”, I was confused and surprised at how rude they were and what they were saying so I just looked at them and they repeated “they’re clearly dirty glasses” in the most rude tone. Didn’t offer me a clean glass, or fresh water, or anything hospitable just tried to humiliate me, and when I walked away they just stared at me like I was an idiot. I don’t feel like this place is very warm or welcoming and I haven’t had a hostile experience like that before in a club really.. there are a lot more warm and lowkey gay clubs in LDN that I can’t be bothered to go back there, rude and unwelcoming Even after we left the venue the bouncer came down the street and said we were too close to the club? Get some better things to do then hassle people waiting for a taxi?

Really disappointed with the experience here. Tried to get in with as a group of queer people, we were turned away for “fire safety reasons”, even though it was clear the venue could handle more. It felt like they were just using that as an excuse because we didn’t look ‘queer enough’ for them. It’s upsetting and not at all what you’d expect from a place that’s supposed to be welcoming to all queer people. We need spaces that respect and celebrate everyone in the community, not gatekeep based on looks. This isn’t acceptable. We are QUEER.

So many of the bad reviews here I have to question a bit - Superstore is one of my favorite spots in London, and they let in plenty of people who aren't over the top queer. When I've seen them turn away people who really just don't vibe right, they're always very kind about it. As a community, queer people deserve spaces to be free to exist - not objects for others to look at us. To this extent, Superstore has always been a place I've felt very comfy. My friends and I have had two bad nights in the last few months and welfare went over the top to check on us - the first time emailing us, and the second time finding us on the dance floor just to check we were okay. I wish that they had more than vibes to go on, and I understand - especially for newbies to the queer scene - the fear of having to vibe right is hard, but Superstore is _very_ inclusive for queer people, the few times I've seen people turned away, I had seriously bad vibes from them too. I've seen reviews saying they're ageist, but there was a 59 year old there this Friday night and she was _awesome_ and very wanted. She fit the vibe so well; and helped me find myself and my new name. Superstore is small, chaotic, and not a place for everyone by any means. But it's a place for us and our community, and the staff are friendly, kind, and always do their very best for the community. Don't be put off by the other reviews if you're looking to find yourself, and let yourself be free. Come with love, respect, and a desire to let go of everything. Especially on a Friday or Saturday night, the basement really is the basement of dreams.

I queued for over half an hour to be told I was not allowed in despite having had two drinks prior to arriving at the venue and queuing for a very long time to try and meet my friends. I love the space in theory, but last night was not the vibe. £12 cover, yikes it’s less to get into Heaven or pretty much any place in central. Music was initially fine, but very repetitive. Really in your face political too, which is fine as queer spaces are inherently political, but just not everyone’s vibe and worth knowing before going. Just not worth it overall, there are better options all over. I also have to echo comments about rude door staff. The pat down felt more invasive than any I’ve had in London too.

I came here on a Thursday evening expecting to have a couple of drinks in a welcoming friendly bar but instead I was quizzed by the guy on the door who asked: 1) Did I know what event was on tonight; 2) Did I know much about the event that was on; 3) Had I been here before; 4) When had I been here before Having not expected to sit an exam at the door (!), I said I didn’t know to 1) and 2) but that I had been here before a few years ago. He then told me it was only open to ‘friends and family’ - whatever on earth that means - and suggested I go to another bar instead. I told him that I didn’t see anything on their website about this apparent ‘friends and family’ restriction and suggested that he wasn’t letting me in because he probably didn’t he like the look of me. So there you have it, if you’re a tourist or from out of town, or new to the scene, best not to come as that probably doesn’t qualify you as ‘friends and family’ and therefore denied entry.

I came here with a couple of friends, at the door a member of staff stopped us informing us that they were the “vibe checker”. They were immediately condescending in tone whilst asking questions such as “had we been there before” etc. They then asked if we knew what the night was that night, which we didn’t, and they said “well it’s a Latinx event and you would know that if you’d bothered to research”. We were a little shocked by the rudeness of the remark and the expectation that you would have to research before simply going to enjoy yourself on a queer night out (an expectation that would never be assumed of cis-het people in cis-het spaces). They then asked for a bit more information about us, so I said “well we are all queer if that’s what you’re asking” to which they replied “fine I’ll take a leap of faith and let you in”. Queer spaces are far and few between and sacred, there are not many places in this world that we can express ourselves freely so to have what we anticipated to be an open and welcoming evening be transformed by this queer gatekeeping was saddening to say the least. We walked into this space feeling anything but welcomed and deeply uncomfortable. We also noticed there were virtually no Latinx people and nothing about this event that went out of its way to celebrate any part of Latinx culture, so this all felt entirely performative. If you want to create a space for Latinx queer folk to be able to commune together, then you need to actually reach out to the Latinx community etc. In all we found this space to fetishise a preconceived notion of ‘queer aesthetic’ rather than being a supportive and inclusive space for real, human queer folk.

Horrid security, do avoid. I was trying to enter with previously bought tickets and wasn't let it. The reason? One of the girls from the group (loosely put, she was just there for a meet up predrinks, not someone I know at all) had some substances on her that I didn't know about and had no intention of consuming. I politely asked the security member for a refund for my ticket, offered them my bag to confirm that I had nothing on me and the male security guard very rudely informed me that I will be deported because drugs are illegal in the UK (just because I don't speak in English accent). Manager was much nicer, but I had to insist to speak to them for solid 15 minutes. Let's see whether they end up refunding me.

Love the place. The staff are great the food is to die for. Drinks are reasonably priced. But unfortunately very homophobic. As a cisgender gay man I was asked to leave for speaking with my friends about my sexual preference and orientation. I never intended to offend anyone with my existence but apparently being “just” gay is not good no more. As gay men we survived discrimination and fought for the rights of the whole community, we were demonized for ages and finally we got some freedom to express ourselves but in this place that’s not acceptable. You can’t be who you are as a cis gay man. I’ve been all around the world and I never felt unsafe or discriminated against as a gay man as much as I felt it here. It’s a real shame cuz I really like the space and most of the people there are amazing and accepting but a minority of them are out to destroy it for everyone that doesn’t conform. Gay rights are human rights. Trans rights are human rights but one of these rights does not trump the other. Instead of attacking cis gay men who are allies and fight for the trans cause maybe try practicing the acceptance that you so desperately seek from the general public. This was supposed to be a safe space for all the queer community. It’s just sad.

Was in the area with a few of my friends and we thought it looked like a fun night out. Mistake!!! The staff were unbelievably rude, we got into the queue and were told by the bouncers that "because theres four of you you will unfortunately not be allowed in because tonight is for people of colour" and then they let three white girls in after us? absolutely ridiculous, three of us were gay we just didn't have English accents? I was in shock. Never have i come across more blatant discrimination from a bouncer in my life. Left an awful taste in my mouth, do not give these people your money

Super fun, space to let your hair down and dance to the beat of the DJ in the underground dance floor! The queer crowd is young and cool, and the ground floor space offers you places to sit down and catch up with friends as well.

Rudest door staff i have ever encountered. They told us to to tell half of our group to just go home because they don’t let groups larger than 4 in. It is despicable of a so called queer venue to force local LGBTQ people to separate themselves from their chosen family simply to enter a second rate club. Strongly recommend against visiting and will not be returning.

Queued for 2 hours, shouldn't admit people to the queue if its that long a wait - or at least be upfront. Charged more than advertised (despite entry 30 minutes before music stopped). Security were rude but staff of the venue were nicer including door attendant. Only 1 toilet despite size of venue (very grim) and overpriced cloakroom. Inaccessible lower floor. Would love to comment on atmosphere if we hadn't been admitted 30 minutes before music stopped (which was 40 minutes before advertised end of night).

Security staff have the tendency to lose all sense and humanity. Got kicked out for zero reason, but my phone had died and they wouldn’t let me go back in to find my friend to go home. Instead they suggested walking home alone at 2am. Had to ask someone to go inside and find her for me. Ridiculous.

After checking my ID and waiting for 15 minutes, the security guard told us that we were not able to enter. Why? Apparently we looked straight. My friend who is into girls was very upset. We tried to talk with the security and people from the pub to understand their decision but they were unable to offer any more clarification. I will not recommend this place at all.

Quite disappointed. I went there for a party for queer girls but basically half of the people were men. The venue is also quite small and overcrowded.

I have been fighting for the LGTBIQ community for two decades. Especially for lesbians, trans and queers. I am a customer of this bar, I have been there a few times and the treatment of some of the waiters is terrible. Sometimes you have to ask to be excused to order a cocktail. Last Saturday I went there with my friends as usual and for reasons unknown we were told we were not welcome. Dear Daylston Superstore team, you can fill the walls of your filthy bar with propaganda and rainbow flags, but my dear, this is not the attitude to defend a collective. Don't pretend to be queer when all you are doing is DISCRIMINATION! Good luck in your fight! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️😎

One of the worst experiences in London. The door staff were incredibly rude and despite the fact that we were only a group of 5 queer girls they refused us entry because our party was ‘too big’. What are queer clubs for if queer people can’t access them.

Me and two friends tried to go here last night and were told by staff that the queue was closed for 20 minutes. We had no issue with this, went somewhere else for a little while, then came back. We were then told, despite being super polite and doing as told, that the place 'wasn't for us' and we would not be admitted, no matter what. We are three creative, laid-back people, I am a woman of colour and my friend is bisexual, we were dressed very 'East London' whatever that means, we were not at all drunk, so we were merely confused as to what exactly about us was not qualifying for entry, as we could see swathes of scruffily dressed straight men being let in. As soon as we (politely!) asked what about us was wrong for the venue, we were told we were 'entitled' and that is why we weren't being let in, which was a bizarre conclusion and rather horrible thing to say to a group of people whose lives you know nothing of and you have just met. I can only assume they were making strange conclusions based on what some might perceive to be our 'posh' accents. My friend who is bisexual was especially upset and brought to tears by our treatment here. If we had been told that there were too many straight people, or something else concrete, we'd have understood, but maybe would have been stunned at them making such an assumption. But to turn us away because we 'seemed entitled' feels like a horrible, baseless reason. Not a safe space. Horrible staff. Do not give them your business.

Been so bad lately. The team aren’t nice! It’s not inclusive and open place anymore. And I tried in different occasions with different people and it wasn’t good. They don’t allow to get inside if you’re more then 2 from some reason. Downstairs is really hot and humid and no any ventilation or air.
