Terrible pub - Avoid! One of my locals and wish it was better. Such a shame. Staff are unfriendly and chat behind the bar whilst you wait to be served. Manager is completely rude and uninterested and spoke to us as if we were criminals rather than customers! When this pub opened it was great, now we all avoid it. Always large groups of loud lary men at the pool table blocking the front door with mysoginist comments as you walk through. Food is dire and haven't had one meal here that we haven't had to send back for one reason or another, especially the Sunday lunches 😖 We've given up and go elsewhere and suggest you do too !

This was meant to be the venue with a dedicated room to celebrate our sons 30th birthday. On the morning of the planned party, we received an email advising us the room had been double booked and our party had to be held in another room. This room failed to materialise. So we had 60 people in the main bar area. The food is very limited and looked very different to the pictures on this Web site. The guests had travelled from Spain all over UK, not locals any stretch. The pictures are VERY deceptive, the place feels its closer to being pulled down, the pictures are very misleading. Would we return, certainly not for an event, but a drink, yes, perhaps.

Didn't have food but no point giving low points if the service and atmosphere was on point Had a good time with my mates and the place has a nice trainspotting film vibe for some reason. Worth a pint with friends 👍🏾

Large pub with a great beer selection and a welcoming vibe that was as much indie alternative as it was hipster cool. When we went on a Saturday night the DJ had just set up as we left but the first few songs he played fit the mood perfectly and with a 1am licence it felt like the night was just getting going when we had to leave. The food menu is a bit limited but it's certainly not targeting the gastropub market but much more a fun non pretentious independent spirit. I liked it even and i know my younger self would have loved it.

I enjoy the staff and their friendly approach. Very knowledgeable on their food choices and drinks. Nice open space, very good if you want to relax at times. And do work inside the pub. The security is also very friendly and welcoming.

This was dreadful. It was cold outside and the pub had three fireplaces none of them were lit. It was freezing not even any heating in the absence of flit fires. The two polar bears lying dead in the corner should have warned us. The atmosphere was cold and would have been much better had it been warm with the fireplaces lit. It was shocking unfortunately our complaints went unnoticed.

A lovely traditional boozer with loads of space and nooks and crannies. Sunday roast was decent enough but nothing special. We went on a particularly cold January afternoon and the place was bloody freezing. Might go back in summer.

Five of us ate a Sunday roast dinner here. The beef was as tough and dry as leather, the potatoes completely hard and the gravy tasteless. The other veg and yorkshire pudding were well cooked. There were no puddings available (despite being on the menu) ... they said they were 'sold out' but we were the first being served. Service unfriendly and toilets unuseably filthy. Avoid this place!

Very friendly atmosphere and really nice staff BUT so disappointed with Roast Beef Dinner. Yorkshire pud was over cooked so any amount of gravy would not help. Had to ask for more of the gravy to help eat it. Vegetables were cooked ok but hard at the edges, I’ve had better roast potatoes and meal did not arrive hot. It felt that the meal had been cooked ages ago and just quickly reheated. Did not complain as it would have spoilt the occasion with family. Will not return.

On a busy Saturday night, the ladies toilets were out of order, no running water in the taps, the staff were rude and not experienced enough to work a busy bar. At least a 10 minute wait for a drink!

Massive... lot's of rooms, cubby holes and seating styles, even a large garden area. Shabby chic and intentionally down at heel fashionable feel. Friendly and swift bar service plus some great real ales and wines. Sensible prices. Dog friendly too

Had a huge family gathering in one of the rooms. The staff were delightful and the food was great.

The pub is all right but the DJ that is always there on Saturdays really sucks. People in the crowd walk up to him asking to play something different and he turns everyone away. Which is fair enough, he's in charge of the music... But this happens loads of times each night. Just come to terms with the fact that people don't like your music. Listen to people's feedback instead of being so cocky. With better music it would be a much better experience. It's such a shame. I know people end up leaving out of frustration for the music.

This used to be a great pub with a wonderful Sunday roast. Visited today and the roast was abysmal. The first plate brought out was cold, so was politely sent back. It came out again hot but the potatoes were raw in the centre, the meat overcooked and like leather and the vegetables still cold. I can see why the place is often half empty since the chef changed. So disappointing.

Beautiful old pub with a lovely vibe. One of my favourite East London boozers. Comfy and well picked furniture that is inviting and tasteful. Lots of space, so you can usually find a table. Great select of beers and ales. Food reasonable. Prices are great. See if you can find the fun pinball machine in one corner.

Very nice service :) the bartender with the glassed was very nice and helpful, will definitely come back. I got recommended to come here by some friends and it was one of the highlights from my trip. Greetings from Spain :)

I never went at a peak time but the vibe was nice no problems.

Horrible crowd influenced by horrible a bartender with glasses. He refused to serve me and my friend for no reason other than that my friend wanted her phone charged for her safety in getting back home. Won’t be returning anytime soon as the bartenders and people ruing the atmosphere

Nice Sunday DJ and atmosphere but a 1hr45min wait for food. Wouldn’t recommend after the Hackney half marathon - so many runners looking like they’re about to faint after waiting that long for food! Staff understandably rushed off their feet but also not very apologetic. Food was tasty when it finally came.

Banging place, great food, great drinks list and amazing staff. The building is a vibe and so is the beer garden. There's even a pool table... What else do you want in a pub eh?

We organised a small event, hosted in a section of the pub. It went really well - the staff were really accommodating and made us feel welcome, even helping to sort out some tech for us which was above and beyond. We'd definitely come back for round 2!

Used to come to this pub loads - but really gone down hill. Everything’s sticky, unclean tables, unclean staff chef in the toilet with me and didn’t wash hands ? Check. Floor staff beach bum bloke in funny hat with AirPods in? Really? Check Uninterested bar staff glued to phone? Check. Clapton hart - hire some sparky staff who engage and care. Keep the pub clean. Sad to say this was a poor visit.

Terrible pub quiz: - It started 30 minutes late - The first 3 rounds were quite fun but took a long time to get through as there was no surround system - The music round was played through a phone so we couldn't hear the songs - The last 3 rounds had no questions planned so took forever and did not follow the round themes (the last round was 'Y2K true or false' but they resorted to another music round (through a phone(!!!))) - They didn't finish round 5 as they changed the theme last minute and couldn't pick any questions (it was a 2000s film and TV round but became lesbian films in the 2000s, so not enough questions) - The winning team had 10+ people in it and they left halfway through so I'm not sure how they won (so no one got the prize) - Picking the top 3 team winners seemed random (I imagine they forgot the questions/answers so couldn't score) I think the biggest issue is that they hadn't planned the questions, and didn't have the answers written down, so marking was impossible. I wouldn't mind so much but they still charged £2 each to enter and didn't even give out the cash prize as the winner left early. We've been to this pub many times but won't be coming back anytime soon, especially not for quizzes!

I really liked The Clapton Hart. For a start, at £3.30 for a pint of bitter (and a good pint too) it's the cheapest pub in hackney I know. And it's a proper old style pub. Massive, with several rooms including comfy one off to the side. Pool table. Lovely.

The Y2K quiz night was a fantastic quiz night which I don’t think I’ve been to anything similar to it before. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and how affordable the drinks were, a great combo for a successful quiz night! For their first time, they did a great job and I would absolutely go to more. Really warm and light hearted, looking forward to what’s in store next time. Thank you :)

Attended the 2000s/y2k pub quiz last night and was pleasantly surprised by how fun it was. The host was accommodating and it was nice to find a quiz that was geared towards queer people! Lovely atmosphere and I made new friends. Would go again

They had a pub quiz last night that was just what we needed coming back from the new year and the perfect way to start 2023 at the Clapton Hart! Shoutout to the staff for being as efficient and as friendly as ever and a special shout-out to the Quizmaster who mastered the role and created such an awesome buzz in the room. Regrettably, I didn’t have any of the food. But I will back for more quizzes, food and good times! Thanks Clapton Hart!

Recently returned to the Clapton Hart. Unsure if under different management, or what, but the food, atmosphere and general "something" is much improved in the pub. There are numerous pubs in local area, so very glad it's back as a recommended local. Had their Sunday Roast recently with friends, and, it was excellent. Long may this new whatever reign 👌

Staff are friendly and doing an amazing job considering how under staffed they are. Queue for the bar was snaking out the door most of Sunday afternoon - one, sometimes two, bar staff on. Felt really sorry for them. Food was absolutely awful. Worst Sunday roast ever - cold vegetables, overcooked meat, bland gravy, cauliflower cheese tasted off. No salt, pepper or condiments offered (horseradish, mint sauce etc). Beer selection is bland but some good wines to be fair. The crowd is nice and the staff are nice so fine for a casual boozer. Just don't order food under any circumstances.

Lovely local pub with a good selection of beers. Beer garden is great in the summer and love that they have a pool table and loads of space to host a large group of friends.

Food was decent, and service was great. Charming, but building is showing it's age. Lots of locals in here (good!). Definitely a good local spot to grab some grub and a pint.

Beer was good, my friend approached one of the male bar staff and couldn’t hear him as there was music and he’s deaf in one ear, the bar staff had an attitude and seemed agitated as my friend asked him to repeat himself, made him feel very self conscious. Just not what we expected and put a damper on our evening.

Sat in the garden and enjoyed a really tasty meal.

Cidre quelconque. La limonade est finalement meilleure. Viande du burger au boeuf archi-cuite. Je cherche toujours le fromage. Heureusement qu'il y avait les frites sinon on passait de "moyen" à "médiocre. Le cadre est sympa mais ça s'arrête là.

Outdoor space is the best during any season. Comfy seats on the inside too Staff are super friendly Sometimes a simple dish will take forever to come out. Ut nonetheless still a good place

Delicious little restaurant with nice dining inside the rustic building or seating outside in the garden. The food was amazing with incredible drinks! The service was second to none and the workers definitely put love into their work!

Tables in garden are too close to each other, no room or privacy. Could do with having ashtrays for those that smoke.

Great pub! (Okay but one thing - there are slightly too many tables outside, it feels a bit crapped, you could get rid of a row and it would still provide lots of space, and allow a bit of standing room as well).

I love the Clapton Hart, the only reason I have given 4 stars is because the last time I visited, there was a very strong odour of feet coming from the upholstered chair I was sitting on. Not something you want to smell when eating your roast!

Great atmosphere! Almost a museum! Lovely staff, music and space to chill, eat, and play! Amazing. Sunday Roasts! A must try! But make sure you go on empty stomach! They are huge 🥰🔥🥰 !

Went for Lunch, the menu looked nice and I ordered the Sunday roast over the gnocchi. Sadly a mistake. The roast was terribly dry. For £15 the portions looked great however the chicken and potatoes tasted old. Creamed leeks cold and foul. Red cabbage dressed with balsamic ok and maple roasted parsnips and carrots not bad. A pint of Rosie’s Pig strawberry cider saved the very average meal. Highly recommended if you enjoy sweet beverages. Otherwise my friend enjoyed her vegan roast and sticky toffee pudding. And there is an area where you can enjoy your meal where it’s dog friendly (although this is the dingy dark side of the pub) The rest of the pub has a traditional pub vibe and the well-lit rooms looked inviting as well as a pool table at the front that looked enjoyable. Disappointing about the roast lunch.

Been here a few times over the years. Decent range usually available across cask, keg and bottle/can. Average pub service. The place itself has an interesting aesthetic, kind of like a big old house, maybe haunted. Really nice back garden area. This place is a little out of the way and not a destination, I wouldn't say. But if you're looking for a Hackney beer scene deep cut, this is an option.

Really manky toilets, only one cubicle working. No loo roll or soap either.
