Food was amazing the service was good but atmosphere was a bit dated lovely food definitely recommend

I won't be ordering again. it was not worth the money. naan bread no bigger than a side plate chicken Karahi heat but no taste, lamb Saag not alot of taste but lamb cooked perfect, saag aloo lovely smokies taste, Dohra Seekh Kabab no taste and the smallest portion of chips ever. Delivery person did not read address properly and had to phone .

We ordered take away, estimated time of delivery was 9:30 but they delivered at 10:25 to begin with. We ordered a Briyani, kheema Naan and tandoori chicken. The Naan was burnt with no stuffing inside, the Briyani was one the worst with not even a pinch of salt or any taste in it. It just had oil and ghee in the rice. We ordered a tandoori chicken and we got the gravy with 4-5 chicken pieces in it which was not cooked even. A very bad experience and would not recommend it at all.

£84.10 - for three curries and three starters, three rice and chips! I was expecting something special - was I got was tasteless - watery and hardly any meat - we've had better from Tescos ready made curries! not recommend one bit!!

The food was poor especially given the very expensive price. There was an odd atmosphere to the restaurant and was dead on a Saturday evening. Would not recommend this place.

The first time that we visited this restaurant was some years ago and we had a realy lovely meal. I do not know why we have left it so long to return. Here this time with family and the food was fabulous, staff were helpul, enthusiastic and charming we look forward to our next visit.

The decor is a little tired but the Excellent food and fabulous service more than makes up for this. We will be back.

Food was alright but wasnt very happy with the high bill of £96 for 2 people. 2 glasses of wine, a beer, 2 starters, 2 breads, one side and 2 mains. If you like getting treated half decent and then shafted go here.

We were told our food would be ready at 8, so arrived at that time. However it was 8.20 before we got our food. When it arrived there was an item missing, so we had to wait a bit longer to get it. When we got it back I'm afraid we all found the gravy quite oily, and there was a real shortage of chicken in any of the Currys. Once you found a bit it was best to cut it into four in case you didn't find another. The Bombay potatoes used new potatoes with thier skins still on which was odd. The chicken was also quite hard. All in all, not totally horrible but a bit disappointing.

It’s been a long time since I’ve used this restaurant, I used to go regular. I received a call advising it would be 10 mins late however it was 50 minutes late in the end. The meal was tasty but very expensive for what I had. I was left extremely disappointed with the experience on this occasion.

The welcome, food and service were excellent. The decor is really old and tired and could do with updating. I can't fault the kindness and attention of the owner/staff, however. Food was really good

First and last time eating here, they only had 3 starters available, no boiled rice available, the chicken tikka masala wasn’t made with chicken tikka and the sauce tasted like a korma, the chicken madras looked terrible but tasted ok, the garlic Naan bread was like a frozen garlic pizza from Asda probably from the next isle down from the sauces in the pickle tray that tasted like they were also from asda, the poppadoms were ok but would also question if they were freshly made or bought in pre cooked. Staff were friendly but unhelpful when I complained.

Staff were so nice and helpful. Food was very good. Thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely be back.

The staff were amazing! Especially the young guy who took our order. The only downfall is the place needs some upgrading but the food is absolutely amazing! Best Indian I’ve had in years.

The waitress was very polite and friendly. The food was disappointing as some of the chicken in the Karahi was overcooked and had a funny taste to it, the sauce was also quite bland and tasted very like the chicken tikka masala sauce that my partner had, so we didn’t enjoy our meal. Such a shame.

The restaurant is in need of some attention hadn’t been decorated for a long time and there were no starters it was expensive and average would not return or recommend the waitress was doing her very best I felt for her as I think everyone felt like us the food was actually fine but we were not comfortable

Absolutely the best biryani in Dumfries. Indian food with a Nepali specialty.

Best Indian in Dumfries. Prices seem high but very much worth it for the quality. Favourites are Lamb Biryani and Dahl Makhani.

It was an incredible experience dining at this restaurant with a great ambiance and friendly staff. The food was exceptionally delicious, and the menu offered a wide range of options to choose from. I think the prices are respectful when you experience the taste of food here!

The food was on point, with a range of flavors and options. When we mentioned a minor issue with one dish, the manager offered us a complimentary dessert and thanked us for our feedback. We left feeling satisfied and impressed with the overall experience.

Waiting over a hour for the meal to arrive and when it did I wish it had not me and my party of four all found the curries to hot to eat and the meat tuff to eat

Booked online having checked out the website and menu. On arrival we were told there were no starters available, no lamb main dishes and no draught beer - NOT a good start for 8 hungry gentlemen. Popadoms and pickle tray were ok. Main courses took over an hour to arrive - but these were all very good. I'm happy to recommend Daksh but better to call first and make sure they have what you want.

Disappointed that we were advised there were no starters being offered at all . Never experienced that one before . The marinated monkfish tikka was tasty and cooked perfectly but a bit too salty . My husbands lamb was not very nice ( he chooses lamb often ) . The place was very quiet , only one other table dining . When we asked for our bill the discount for our redeemed yums was not deducted and when we advised them it took a further 15 minutes waiting to have the bill sorted . Not a great experience overall

We visit this restaurant frequently and have always enjoyed the delicious, authentic Indian food, quick service, and friendly staff. If you're in 55 Queen St, Dumfries then you must visit it once!!! Totally worth it.

We were unfortunate that starters were not available but the rest of the food was excellent. I had a Lamb curry and the chunks of lamb were delicious. Others in our party also thought that the food was great.

Placed order at 10 past 5pm and then received a phone call at quarter to 7 saying that the order will be late. Said that was no problem. As of 2030 no sign of order and no one is picking up at the restaurant. Have since requested a refund via Just Eat as the restaurant have said they have delivered. First time ordering and won’t be ordering again.

I was called to say my order would be late at 6.30 I said fine. Then it said on the app my order has been delivered. It has not been delivered and it’s now 8 o’clock. I have tried calling the restaurant for an update and nobody is answering.

Menu was clear about allergies. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Food was good a bit pricey but not too bad.

Excellent food - best in Dumfries and beyond. A really great find. Service perfect. My lamb biryani was the best I've ever had - even in Glasgow. Chicken Jalfrezi ditto. Will definitely be returning - with guests.

It won’t be wrong to say that Daksh Indian Restaurant is the place if you’re looking for authentic Indian food restaurant in 55 Queen St, Dumfries. I visited with my family and it felt like we were traveled back to India while having our dinner together.

Arrived at 6, didn’t get starters until 7:15 and had to ask for the staff to bring our mains asap as we had a show at 8. Extremely slow service considering there was only another 2 tables occupied during this time. Waiting staff apologetic but we had to leave without finishing our meal.

20 minutes late which isn’t a great start, paid over £40 for 2 curries a rice and naan which is steep. The food taste was nice however the curry a little watery and not a lot of chicken in the chicken curry

Without a shadow of a doubt this is the worst Indian takeaway I have ever had. Chicken pakora - well it just wasn’t, it was like a breadcrumb - dry and tasteless. Monkfish curry - shockingly bad. Keema naan was awful and tasted like and old boot that had been spiced up. The mushroom rice was OK - mind you it was £4.50. Over £42 I wish I’d had eggs on toast

Got to be one of the worst curries I’ve ever had. Pakora was dry and hard. Monkfish was dry, curry was tasteless. Keema naan - don’t know what was in it but it wasn’t meat. How they have good reviews is beyond me. £42 after discount - Morrisons sells better curries & pakora!!!!

Thought we would give Daksh a try tonight. Not disappointed, delivery times as promised, piping hot food, authentic ingredients/spices , very tasty dishes and good sized portions. We will certainly order again. Thanks Daksh.

Pleasant setting, excellent meal, and pleasant personnel. The menu was diverse. It might be a lil expensive for few , but I suppose that's because of Bradford curry houses standards!

Probably one of the best curry houses I've been to! Quick service, I liked the selection of Indian songs that sound ready to just burst the hell out into Knight Rider at any moment. - would definitely visit again.

Delicious food prepared in a very authentic manner. Served by a very friendly polite and helpful lady. The restaurant was clean and tidy. We had biryani and it came in a ceramic pot known as a dum. The top was sealed with some dough and so the lovely flavours captured perfectly. The side dishes were also very tasty. Everything was lovely. The atmosphere was pleasant but sadly for Friday evening it was very quiet. I think because it is not on a busy main street. I hope it normally is much busier.

£25 for 2 skinny lamb chops 4 pieces of chicken pakora 2 poppadoms and a portion of rice

Food could have been warmer and didn’t like the type of Nan bread we ordered, first time having this Nan bread from this restaurant but sorry did not like the flavour. Curries were delicious though.

Nearly two hours late. I was a first-time customer and they completely ruined it for themselves. I ordered from somewhere else instead, I was so tired of waiting. They didn’t respond to the in-app text and when I called they didn’t answer the phone either. Completely unacceptable. I wish I just went to my usual restaurant.

We had a lovely dinner here last night! We left it very late to find somewhere to eat and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. There was great vegan options on the menu too :) I noticed another review about the vegan dishes including dairy. We didn't find this. Would recommend if you're looking for kind service and tasty food!

This place is the worst restaurant I have ever been in. We ordered chicken pakora and we all spat it out (3) folks. The taste texture was horrible. The place stinks of damp and the outside is hideous. Hate criticising a small business as I know times are hard but this was just wrong. Reviews are either lies or made up by friends and family avoid this place. Sorry.

Don't be put off by the old run down pub exterior, the food was very good.

The food albeit expensive is way above the quality of Indian food from other takeaways. It was very hot, well labelled and presented in labelled packaging for ease of serving out. As well as superb flavour and taste, the rices were fresh and fluffy. The Nans were absolutely stunning. Well done Guys.

Was shut despite the website saying it was open. 12pm to 2pm. They missed a very valuable order

Just a heads up for people with food allergies, this restaurant claims to have a large vegan menue, and on the menue most dishes say "can be made vegan" or just "vegan" next to them anyway. However upon getting there and ordering I discovered that "vegan means something different here". The foods are not vegan but simply dairy free, meaning meats, eggs, honey,etc are still all contained within the "vegan" options. The food I eventually got tasted fine, and was fairly priced, however the girls at the table across from us happened to also be ordering vegan, and discovered halfway through that dairy had still been used after ordering dairy free, which considering we ordered the same foods left me feeling alittle uneasy about my own. The service was really good, and we left a tip for the waitress as she was very friendly and welcoming, but overall the food-confusion was too worrying for me to go back despite being only a 5 minute walk away. Fine if you have no food allergies but I really dont recommend if you do.

This restaurant serves the best Indian food in town by far. Every meal is beautifully seasoned including the rice, which other Indian takewaways wouldn't bother doing. Consistently good food. Staff are very friendly. They are also now on Just Eat which is a bonus.

Great home-cooked Indian food. I've been going to Daksh for years, and it has consistently provided really authentic North Indian cooking with fresh spices and a range of delicious flavours - the way Indian food should be. The chef cooks from scratch and uses fresh ingredients, and this may not be to everyone's taste, but if you like your curries, enjoy Indian cooking and appreciate top of the range traditional cooking, Daksh is for you. Five stars everytime.

Superb Indian food, if a little spicy. Located in a quiet side street in Dumfries. Not the largest menu to select from but what is offered is of top quality. Lovely ambiance to the place as well. Best curry so far we've had in Scotland.

Far too spicy for which was meant to be mild dishes. Quality of food great and fresh however it was un edible due to being too hot.

Me and my mate absolutely hate daksh, it’s probably the worsetested Indian restaurant my mother has ever had. WW3 is close and you can’t even bring your own beers to the takeaway. Wat up with that?

Quality was good, nicely spiced. But the portions were smaly. Monkfish at £7 for 2 pieces of fish?

Ordered at 5pm, arrived at 7.40pm even though they marked it as delivered about 6.15pm. They phoned me at 6.15pm and told me it would be 20 minutes away, I called at 7pm and was told it was 2 minutes away, when I finally got the order at 7.40pm it was a total of 2 hours and 40 minutes from ordering to receiving. Had the food been amazing, I could’ve forgiven the awful timing, sadly it wasn’t. Most of it went in the bin and I can honestly say, for one of the most expensive Indian meals I have ever ordered, it certainly wasn’t worth the money. Shame really

Came up to visit family. Ordered a delivery and what came was without doubt one of the worst meals ever. The most of it went in the bin 🤮🤮🤮

This restaurants food is a little different from standard Indian restaurants so be prepared for that. The menu isn't as extensive as most but I think that goes to its authenticity. The flavours are a little different as well. Our group really enjoyed our meals which was served by very friendly staff. The premises look a bit tired and would benefit from a refresh but don't let that put you off. We'll worth a visit.

Vegetarian daal and biryani were really outstanding meals. Daksh is definitely the best Indian in Dumfries, I will absolutely order again! The meal was prepped quickly for pickup and packaged well with good sized servings. The meals themselves were flavorful and perfectly spiced. The chef and staff should be proud of their cooking
