The food is good value for money here the soup is delicious and home made. They are not afraid to put plenty of filling in their rolls. Reasonably priced too.

The meal arrived at an acceptable temperature and had an appealing aroma, creating initial expectations. However, the overall experience was unfortunately impacted by the cleanliness of the establishment. The floors were not well-maintained, and a tray showing signs of mould raised significant concerns about hygiene. The doner meat fell short of expectations, exhibiting a rubbery texture and lacking the freshness one would anticipate from a quality takeaway. Based on this, it warrants a rating of 4/10. The chips with cheese, while decent, could have benefitted from a more generous portion of cheese. As it stood, the dish was satisfactory but not remarkable, earning a score of 5/10. In conclusion, while the food was not entirely unpleasant, the subpar food quality and hygiene issues make it difficult to recommend or return to this establishment.

A super bed and breakfast with a lovely vegan curry and home baked ecclefechan tart in the bar which had an open fire. Steve and Mary looked after us like a mum and a big brother. Could not do enough for us including a very welcome lift to and from hoddom Bridge as we were walking the annandale way. And a packed lunch to order. Will recommend to all, especially walkers.

We ate here and finished our meal, the waitress cleared away and we decided we'd have another round of drinks before leaving. We waited 5, 10 minutes and the waitress never came back. I went in search of someone but couldn't find our waitress. I didn't like to open the doors to the kitchen. We waited another 5 minutes and my wife said 'this is ridiculous' and went off in pursuit. She found our waitress in the bar (was she watching TV, did she fancy the barman?) and asked if we could get some service. The waitress said 'the restaurant is closed', as if we were being unreasonable in expecting to be served a round of drinks. No, the restaurant isn't closed if you've still got people sitting at a table you're serving and you haven't asked them if they want a dessert or offered them the bill but simply buggered off. So we said OK, can we just pay the bill. Which we did, and obviously didn't leave tip. We won't be going back.

Sorry this review is late but can I say we stopped off to watch the play off final( national league England) and we were made to feel so welcome by the lad behind the bar whose name I'm embarrassed to say I cant remember. I must say the locals on the day were fabulous and were fellow Poolies by the end! As far as the place itself it's a proper pub, clean ,good beer good craic and very very freindly atmosphere if ever we go back over that way it will definitely be a place to visit
