Amazing for vegans, veggies and meat eaters. The most richly layered, flavourful Indian food, so different to typical restaurant fare. Really outstanding, with seasonal dishes changing from week to week. If you see the leek dish, it’s wonderful. But the regular rice and bread are good staples, and very tasty

The overriding feeling I am left with, having dined at Daaku for the first time, is just how wonderfully relaxed we all felt whilst we enjoyed our evening as a family. Upon entering the beautiful courtyard building, you are transported to another world, through the aromas, vibrant decorations and the gentle sounds of the thoughtfully put together play list. Everything is interesting and sense hightening; at once meditative and exciting. With their intentionally small menu (which changes every week) we still found it hard to decide as the descriptions of the dishes are all so enticing (we dined as two vegetarians and two meat eaters), so we ordered one of everything and were delighted with the result. It is said that 'we eat with our eyes', so if that is true, then our ocular hungers were immediately satisfied by the stunning presentation of the food. We chatted whilst we ate, with the staff being consistently friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Ben, one of the owners and head chefs came to talk to our table (as they seem to with every table), which was a lovely touch as he was happy to answer our questions about their gorgeous food and restaurant decoration. We found the price to be very reasonable for the quality of the food and overall dining experience (quality and locally sourced ingredients clearly adding a further degree of excellence). If you're just looking for a massive menu from which you might just order a korma/tikka masala and smash back a pint of Singha, then Daaku might not (yet) be for you. However, if you want a true dining experience treat and for your expectations of Indian food to be redefined, then give Daaku a try! We'll be back for sure.

Fancied some Indian food and decided to try the place after seeing it on Google Maps - and it was certainly an experience that I felt compelled to write a review for! It’s not often you end up walking in a boatyard and having to go up stairs before sitting down, not that it was any trouble.Usually I just opt for something like murgh makhani/butter chicken, but I felt it was time to expand my horizons. The Chicken Methi Malai I eventually ordered (after soaking up some of the atmosphere first!) didn’t take long to arrive at all and I think it’s going to be among the best dishes I’ve had for along while. Felt it didn’t look like much at first but I actually didn’t manage to have room for dessert - having to make my own way back and all.Must admit I was a bit surprised when Jasmine and Ben came in and asked me if the food was alright. Needless to say the answer was yes and I enjoyed conversing with the both of them.Only issue I’d have is maybe with the pricing, but perhaps it is a case of you pay for what you get!

I have wanted to visit Daaku for months but understandably they are very busy so I had great anticipation for our first visit. Wow! We were certainly not disappointed. From the first welcome to the introduction to the menu and wonderful recital of Indian history from Jasmine, we were totally entertained. And then we get to to the food! Forget any preconceived notions of “British Indian” curry houses, Daaku’s food is wonderfully authentic and the attention to detail is incredible. We had a selection of most of the menu, sharing between four family members. Each dish was totally different, no hint of a base curry made up to serve numerous curries. All stunning, with the stars of the show being the Naga beef and the Tarka Dhal. The sweet selection to follow were equally special.A final word to the gin cocktails. Wonderfully aromatic and complementary to the food.Outstanding. If you ever get the chance, book a table and enjoy a unique experience.Good luck to Jasmine, Ben, and the team on their new venture in town.

Visited Daaku last night, for our wedding anniversary, on the basis of the overwhelming positive reviews. And we were not disappointed. It really is a case of believe the hype. Start with a unique setting, in a boatyard. Great dining room. Both of these just scene setters for the wonderful food. Don’t expect a menu starting at Korma, and ending at Vindaloo or some crazy heat challenge. The menu is short, but it’s enough. We shared Matar Kachori to start, pastry balls stuffed with spiced roasted peas. The good lady opted for Butter Chicken - rich sauce loaded with tender chicken. Best she has had, and she’s tried it a few places. Been a very long time since I ordered a vindaloo. The overpowering heat is not my thing at all. But, after a discussion with a waiter who seemed to have tried everything on the menu, I went with Goan Pork Vindaloo. Slow cooked pork belly, came out as a pulled pork texture curry, in a rich sauce. Bit of heat in there somewhere, but enhanced rather than killed the meat. Plain and apricot pilau, and chapati finished our table. We ate the lot, and had room for a trio of sweets to finish. An original restaurant, highly recommended.

Daaku is located in a rather funky boat yard (Islington Wharf) in Penryn. It is an appropriate location as the Daaku is a type of lawless bandit found in the remote regions of India. The staff and the food were exceptional. Do not expect the gargantuan menu nor the cream laced Indian dishes you find in most U.K. Indian restaurants. The menu changes weekly and the Cornish Indian dishes are prepared from local seasonal ingredients. We had the butter chicken - chicken cooked in a light mild sauce, the vegetable main - potatoes, beets, carrots……in a more fiery sauce, a side dish of dal with sea vegetables like samphire, raita and chapatis. Each dish was unique and full of flavour.I can’t wait to return to the area for another meal at Daaku.

Followed by beautifully tender Punjabi Lamb with saffron infused pilau rice with crunchy nuts. With the chilli and garlic bread this was a perfect meal in a wonderfully colourful setting. Daaku, it’s an adventure to find it in the boatyard but you can follow your nose to the delicious smells. A local chap was coming out with his takeaway and said ‘You won’t be disappointed’. We picked up our order, they are very organised, and had a nosy in the kitchen window. The chefs were really open and happy to let us see what they were doing which was lovely. I have travelled in India and Sri Lanka a fair amount, and love the variety and depth of flavour of food from these two unique places. I have also worked in Manchester, and experienced many meals on the famed Curry Mile in Rusholme. Now the food there is good but lacks the authenticity that Daaku achieve. Their cuisine is the best I have tasted outside of India and Sri Lanka. A careful fusion of British and Indian. The spice combinations work wonderfully and the dishes equally complement each other. There is a complexity to their dishes and your taste buds are treated to a sensational journey. Ben and Jasmine work hard to secure the best of local Cornish produce, and their efforts are well rewarded with what they create.

Our expectations were high based on the reviews and we were aware the menu was limited. The restaurant is upstairs above what looks like a boatyard and roasting hot on a warm summers day. The Aloo chaat starter was nice albeit a very very small portion for £6 each and not value for money and was the only starter available. Between us ( 2 adults and 2 teenagers) we had 5 main dishes. I had Punjabi lamb which was nice but under seasoned at an eye watering £18.95. My daughter had channa masala which reminded me of a packet masala mix recipe I have tried and over powered by a rose water flavour. She usually loves channa masala but all she managed was a few spoonfuls and it was revolting. The other 2 had what would be described as a West Indian Jerk chicken with a callaloo sauce.(very strange on an Indian menu) It was 2 chicken legs coated in spices and baked and a bowl full of what can only be described as an awful green soup which didn't taste of anything. We couldn't understand why a runny watery bowl of liquid could go with baked chicken legs. The tarka dhal was nice and everyone liked that. To accompany the meal I had Kulcha which is a cross between a naan and a paratha which was lovely but very small and the others had chapatis which were also very small. We had to order more chapatis as they were no more than the size of a side plate. Including 1 cider and 2 cokes the bill came to an eye watering £116. I was expecting it to be expensive and was willing to accept it as the reviews and hype made it sound exceptional. We're from the Birmingham area so maybe we've been spoilt as the meal would have cost around half where we're from and the choice would have been greater. It's a husband and wife team and they were very pleasant in pleasant surroundings but it looks like they are trying to establish a business and can only cook a few things at a time. I'm Indian and cook a fair bit so know what's what in an Indian kitchen and sadly they have a long way to go to get this right. If you like your curries you will be disappointed unfortunately but if you want a pleasant evening in nice surroundings and don't know what a nice tastying dish is then this is your place. No idea who wrote those great reviews but maybe it was different on a different day.

Daaku has become a firm favourite for our family and we order on a very regular basis. Whether we have a date night takeaway for two or place an order for the whole family, we are always incredibly pleased with the food. This is not the same as a regular curry house. The menu changes weekly and the the flavours are sensational. Jas and Ben are so attentive and the children love to come to collect to say hello to the Daaku team. We would highly recommend to any curry lover to give this place a go!

Loved this hidden gem! Indian food that tastes like it was made in someone’s house rather than a restaurant. Beautiful decor (although we got a takeaway) and friendly, obliging staff. A must visit if you are in the area.

We popped by this wonderful restaurant after reading amazing reviews, hoping we might be in luck of a takeaway. The team at Daaku were incredibly welcoming and really helpful in choosing our dishes. The food was really excellent, absolutely delicious, we all agreed possibly the best takeaway we’ve ever had. We would love to return. Thank you.

Friendly staff on arrival and throughout the meal, with the chef coming out to introduce herself and explain the menu and that the dishes could be made hotter/milder. Limited choice on the menu however this was not an issue as everything is cooked fresh and local and there was enough variety for everyone. Good size portions and the flavours were amazing!! Exquisite food, lovely restaurant/ambience and staff who pay attention to detail. If you are going to Falmouth/Penryn, definitely pay Daaku a visit!

We enjoyed an excellent meal here this evening. Staff were friendly and it was nice to see the chefs so engaged with the customers. We liked the emphasis on local produce and look forward to visiting here again in the future! Something very different to anything else we had on our holiday.

Little gem in Falmouth! Brilliant place with very Indian decor and really delicious authentic Indian food. They have a small menu which changes every week. This way they ensure we get freshly cooked food made with fresh local produce. To top it all, the service was great. Jasmine also gave valuable inputs on things to do and see around. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

We used to eat at this place quite often and it was great but for some reason the quality of the food seems to be going down lately... To the point when we're thinking of finding a new place for dining.

Superb Indian Food set in an unique setting. Excellent hosts who clearly had a passion for the food they cooked. They modified each dish to our liking & took time to describe each dish as it was truly home Indian cooking. Best restaurant we went to the Cornwall!

We booked dinner based on other reviews and it turned out to be the best meal we had all week. The restaurant is in a small space in a working boatyard, but once you walk in, you're immediately at ease. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is friendly and the decor is colorful and clean. The chef/owners (husband and wife) made time to check on us personally to make sure we enjoyed the meal. We shared a starter and each ordered a main (veg and chicken) with speciality rice and bread. It was reasonably priced and worth every penny! You can taste the love and care put into making each meal. The menu changes based on locally sourced foods, which are in season and/or fresh that week. The entire experience from start to finish was excellent. If you're a "foodie" you'll love this place.

I booked Daaku off the back of the reviews to have dinner at whilst we visited the area.Initially, we didn’t know what to expect as you walk through the working boat yard to a small door leading upstairs. The restaurant is decorated in bright colours with different pictures and ornaments up. The owner explained they are from her home town in Jaipur which was a nice touch. We felt like we were in India! The menu is small, however it changes regularly depending on the ingredients they can source locally. I liked the fact the dishes are different from that you would find in a conventional curry house. We split a starter, ordered our own beef and chicken curries, shared a speciality rice and chilli garlic bread. We also a shared a desert, which was delicious. The food was full of flavour and we came in hungry and left content, so I think portion sizes were spot on. I agree the main curry is slightly expensive (around 15) however the starters, deserts and drinks were reasonable. We spent around 80 pounds including 3 g&t’s, 2 beers and a cider. The staff are really friendly and attentive and the the food was delicious. Really enjoyed this place and would recommend to anyone visiting to try it if you like India food!

Delicious punjab Indian food not your run of the meal Indian restaurant doesn't have large menu with all the same options in most other Indian restaurants. Really good friendly service our meal came very quickly apparently Jasmine's speciality. Recommended dishes butter chicken and fresh orange and mint raita but everything was fab. The restaurant is in Penryn and very much worth a visit they do take away and the decor is amazing lots of thought for every detail great atmosphere.
