Don’t bother getting this via delivery. It was disgusting. Oily, soggy and it looked like some of the chips had been eaten. Sauce was also missing.

The restaurant/ cafe looked very inviting with nice deals on some tea and scones with clotted cream. I ordered the tea and scone with jam. Only to be served tea. Thought perhaps they had misheard my order and i didn’t mind so i didn’t say anything as i was meeting someone soon after. When i checked my receipt a long while after i left the place. I was charged for tea and jam scones. A little disappointed, i looked forward to returning to have their fish meals but not sure i will anymore.

I'm not sure why this even has 4.5 stars on google maps, the food is a literal insult to both Italians and Americans. I ordered a double decker burger and it's awful. I COULD LITERALLY TASTE THE GRILL THAN THE ENTIRE BURGER, IT LITERALLY FEELS LIKE I AM LICKING A BURGER GRILL THAT HAS NEVER BEEN WASHED After my first bite into the burger, it brought me the joy of rather eating a Macdonald burger instead The squid ink pasta had too many shells taking up the space as to the pasta itself, and had little taste. Not worth the money and the squid ink did not change the texture or flavour, nor did it make it look any more appetizing. The service was great, but the issue is its lack of hygiene. I've found a fly preserved in ice in my water and the waiter did not replace our water. The food looked good on the outside but there is no flavor. The food is rather overpriced. I do not recommend coming here, even if you like seafood.

Really excellent. The scallops with truffle mash from the specials board were particularly delish. So much so we ordered more. Friendly, helpful service.

Disappointing. We heard great things from this place from a professor at the local University. He joined us for lunch and was also surprised how lousy the food was and the service was hideous. I got up to get my own sugar for my tea because trying to get the waiter was stupid and then a man at another table had a fit. He'd been trying to pay his bill for ages and had enough and shouted. I didn't blame him. Fish and chips, average. One of the specials did not indicate spicy and our friend couldn't eat it. Won't be back, don't recommend.

Very expensive for food quality. We had made reservations and went looking forward to nice dinner. They had no reserved place for us and we had to wait a long time to be seated. Overall quite disappointing.

This is mainly a seafood restaurant FYI. So if it’s not your thing don’t visit this establishment. The servers were very super nice and helpful. Any questions asked were answered. The menu looked fabulous but if you look around there are menu boards that are scattered around that are not on the paper menu. Keep your eyes peeled. Everything we smelled and saw looked fantastic. A lady leaving shouted at us that the swordfish special was amazing and she wasn’t wrong. I had the monkfish tails and they were delectable. Sampled some of my friends other dishes and they were all Great! Highly, highly recommend. I don’t think you can wrong here.

Black ink pasta - Not the original taste , the pasta was too soft but tastefull. Asian will love it. Fish and ship was nice, fish was fresh and firm.

We came for supper on Saturday night during a weekend visit to Oxford. It was our first time eating at CuttleFish, but I sincerely hope it won't be the last. I rang to book a table for two just a few hours prior and a lovely friendly voice answered the phone and took our reservation. When we arrived the restaurant was busy and full of gentle chat but never felt crowded at all. The staff were friendly, very well presented, and just the right level of attentive. The most difficult part of the entire evening was choosing what to order - I think we would have been happy with literally anything on the menu. Neither of us drink alcohol and we were very impressed by the selection of sober drinks options. I would definitely recommend the Lady Gray 'gin' mocktail, and I should imagine the real gin version is equally tasty. I ordered the frito misto with a green salad and my partner ordered a whole lobster and fries. Both were absolutely delicious (obviously I stole some of his too, immediate food envy) We have every intention of returning when we next find ourselves in Oxford, and will be recommending to friends in the meantime.

Very nice good authentic Mediterranean cuisine I ordered the black ink squid spaghetti Generous portions very tasty Fresh tomato sauce with mussels squids and 1 shrimp Nice service too I have only 1 complain the Fresh orange juice was not from squeezed oranges but from a juice bottle so not fresh as advertised.

Definitely 1 in 5 cuz it took almost an hour before we could get any food served! The mussels tasted not fresh and stale in each size! Plus, I got only two teeny tiny little pieces of trout, like they just crawled out of the stream. Taste of the meal not so good as well I was expecting something awesome in the one-hour wait😂

I ordered a takeaway portion of fish and chips. The girls treated me super kindly and with a smile, staff of 10. As for the food, it was simply delicious, a generous portion for £9.95 with sauce and presented in a box that made transportation very convenient for us. I will repeat if I return to Oxford

I had very high expectations of this place due to the amazing reviews. We arrived as a family for Saturday lunch. We ordered 6 oysters, which were ok but very milky. For the main, I ordered off the specials menu, the Tuna Ceasar Salad. When it arrived, it was a piece of tuna on lettuce for £19.95. I was shocked. Because it was a special, I was expecting at least some parmesan. My husband ordered the Fritto dish which was soggy and extremely salty. I wouldn't recommend and did not live up to the reviews.

Total disappointment, really looking forward to this however service was bad , food not great, Oysters ok, lobster ok, chips over salted .. expected so much more.... Staff didn't really care 😞 such a shame . Reviews do not match the lunch time dining

We as a family have been to this restaurant a few times and never been disappointed with the food however i was rather surprised at the cost of a cocktail my daughter had which was essentially a glass of Prosecco watered down with elderflower presse’ at nearly £10.00 a bit much. Perhaps it would be an idea to list ingredients under the titles. We should have complained at the time but to be honest we were a bit taken aback.

I love a good seafood restaurant. So there was no doubt that we had to pay a visit to Cuttlefish. We read in on timout.com that this place was a great seafood restaurant in Oxford so we had to give it a go. And the price is pretty descent too. My husband had the fish and chips, and loved it, he said the thick cut fries was annother level of perfection next to the cod. I had the fritto misto as I love calamari, this time I was hungry so I got a selection of different fried seafood. I have eaten a lot of calemari (squid) in my life but this must be the best that I've ever eaten, the whole plate was lovely, but the calemari was AMAZING (I'm still dreaming about it!!) I'd also never tasted lightly fried whitebait before so that was an exceptional food experience for me. We had so little time in Oxford and for lunch. I was so sad that me and my husband could not stay for dessert. BUT we will be back. The waitress we had and owner was so sweet and lovely and helped us with this quick lunch as we had to get to the airport in time. Thank you so very much for this perfect food experience. I really recommend this place to all the seafood lovers out there. I will definitely be back for more!

Excellent fish restaurant, the plaice special was superb, as was the frittso misto. If you like a good fish dish this is a brilliant option

Lovely restaurant. The servers were all very lovely and helpful. Food was amazing as well, especially loved their special. Drinks are a little expensive but reasonable. Very nice atmosphere and lots of seating options.

It was one of the best fish and chips we had in years! Non-greasy, well seasoned, and light batter on the fish. Gorgeous homemade tatar sauce. Definitely will come back!

I tried the cold plate of seafood at Cuttlefish for the first time, and it was a fantastic experience. The dish was incredibly tasty, with fresh and flavorful seafood. I definitely recommend giving it a try!

Nice little place. Good service and food was also good. It now wow, but if you're in Oxford and want I nice meal you could do worse. Its a little pricey for what we got which was the platter for 2 one starter to share, 2 drinks a a dessert to share. @ £82. We paid less at another restaurant near by and got more. Score 3.9 price point is a little off and the food didn't quite make up for that. Although still a good place to try.

Who would have thought! Beautiful fish restaurant serving a fantastic afternoon tea. Fresh warmed scones - pot of jam and delicious clotted cream - very hospitable friendly service. Can’t wait to sample the fish on our next visit.

I didn't expect to find good seafood in Oxford but Cuttlefish really surprised me. I expected a bit of a slog on a busy bank holiday with a party of 30 already in the restaurant but the service was great. The crab taster to start was lovely with fresh white and brown crab served with thick, fluffy toast and salad. The red snapper and skate combination on the specials was delicious on a seafood bead, which I'm really glad I went for. And the Portuguese custard tart and port, also from the specials board, was a delight to round off the meal. Very excited for my next opportunity to go again!

The food (fried fish and potatoes) was fresh and delicious. The sauce they brought with it was great. It is one of the beautiful and spacious places that is open until late. I hope I have the opportunity to go again

Such a lovely welcome as we walked through the front door, shown different tables available. Chose a window seat. A bottle of iced tap water with lemon was bought with the menus. Drinks came quickly. The main menu had a good choice of fish, meat dishes inc burgers if you wanted. We wanted the seafood platter, £48 for 2 of us, fantastic value, we also asked for bread which came warm. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food on the menu and given neither of us like mussels gave us extra prawns. The platter was delicious especially the oysters. It also had smoked salmon, different prawns and clams. After I chose a cheesecake as a dessert that came with a nice whole berry sauce. My husband had a coffee and brandy. My only criticism was that the coffee arrived, then the cheesecake 5 minutes later and the brandy another 5 minutes later, after he had drank his coffee, it would have been better if it had all come out together.

Busy, bustling place with a great fish menu, reasonably priced. Friendly smiley staff. A mix up over one of the dishes was handled well,.with genuine apologies and drinks taken off the bill.

We ended up visiting this place out of pure luck. We were searching for a place to eat lunch, and while looking randomly for an open restaurant, we found this one. Well, I couldn't be happier that this was our choice because what we found was simply out of the ordinary. The fish-based food was really tasty, especially my smoked salmon pasta. The place looks nice and welcoming. Its service, on the other hand, I think is what stands out the most, everyone being very nice and attentive. Overall, it's a place found by accident but turned out to be an excellent "choice" that I clearly recommend!

Oysters were super fresh and delicious. Will definitely come back for them. Fish soup was questionable because it was rather mixed seafood in tomato souce rather than a soup. Those preferring classical mediterranean style fish stew or rather creamy soups, it's not that. Calamari were good, fish and chips were average. Lighting can be slightly up because at some tables in the middle, you can barely see your food.

After having a terrible experience after eating here last year , we decided to try again ( did feel really nervous on returning) but didn’t need to worry we had a lovely meal and the staff were amazing. Will definitely return.

We came here as a large group for a graduation dinner. Food is good value and generous portions. The staff is excellent and made us all feel very welcome. Will come back next time we are in Oxford.

We were a group of 4 people - who had the shared platter to start with - prawns, squid, grilled vegetables, houmous, balsamic onions & rollmop herrings - all delicious. The mixed sea food grill was simply and beautifully cooked - no mean feat for fish. We were all throughly impressed by the quality of food and thoughtful service.

This was the first time we'd had an evening meal at Cuttlefish and it exceeded our expectations. The food was excellent. Perfectly cooked and portion sizes were generous. The staff were all very attentive but never overbearing. A fantastic dining experience.

Very strange experience. The starters were nice (salmon and whitebait) however the mains took a strange turn. We ordered the seafood paella which had pieces of indiscernible meat/fish (couldn’t be sure) and chicken wings in it. Literally no idea why there were actual chicken wings in the paella? Frankly it was disgusting. We hurried and left shortly after. Don’t waste your time going. Overpriced for the quality and sloppy chicken wings in a paella is an obscene crime.

There were 30 of us at our Christmas lunch celebration and Cuttlefish staff rose to the challenge. The food was excellent, even the vegetarian option. The staff were attentive and efficient and gave us a really good Christmas lunch. Thank you. Pretty decor and well laid out table.

Simply cooked seafood Simply delicious, a delight it doesn’t get any better. Staff were charming and cheerful but the chef was on top form when we visited.

We came here under the old restaurant the fishers since coming here under cuttlefish we have now been here twice both time got a warm welcome especially Nadia who has been amazing both times and been so helpful food is amazing and a lovely place to go price is very reasonable 😊

Thank yous go to Cuttlefish for granting my friend Andrew 's request for a Thanksgiving meal on 23rd November 😀 They were very happy to do this having been given plenty of notice and we are very grateful, it was absolutely lovely 💯 🙂 As always we had perfect, kind service from the excellent team 🙂 Hopefully this will become an annual occasion 🙂 The food was plentiful and excellent quality, hitting the taste buds full of flavour. We had turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pigs in blankets, parsnips, carrots, brussel sprouts, roast potatoes, followed by Christmas pudding.

Visited Oxford for a short break with my wife. We chose The Cuttlefish due to the excellent reviews. They were right. We had three courses each, all of which were very tasty. The service, also was excellent. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to any seafood lovers.

The menu was great, we had the mixed seafood grill, oysters and the soft shell crab, all were beautifully fresh and the chef definitely knows how to cook fish, would recommend any seafood lovers to make a dash for this restaurant , will definitely return when visiting oxford again.

Really enjoyed our meal at Cuttlefish last night. The staff are friendly and efficient, the food was excellent and excellent value for money. As the name suggests the menu is largely fish / seafood based although the do some meat dishes. I had the mussels, my wife spaghetti vongole and our son the fish cake followed by good desserts, cheese and dessert wine. Clearly very popular with locals and we will visit again when we are in Oxford.

Four of us came for lunch on a slow Tuesday. It was a first time visit for all of us. We had a bit of expectation before arrival due to recommendations from others. While none of the dishes would be described as awful, there was nothing to remind us to come again soon. Somehow all the dishes looked better than they tasted. Our waitress was enthusiastic and helpful, but that wasn’t enough to keep us coming back.

Came for a seafood feast and left slightly traumatised and extremely unsatisfied. The raw Oyster came and went. It was extremely fresh and tasty. Drinks were pretty and yummy. Came next: Grilled seafood platter looks delicious. Digging in to find that the mullet taste really muddy. While it's my first time tasting mullet, i have eaten many bottom feeders. Some had taste I can't appreciate but I know it's me. This mullet though, I think it just bad preparation. Though the service staff says that's how it is supposed to taste. We didn't want to create a fuss and Maybe it's us. So we just left all the pieces of mullet behind. Which unfortunately is a big part of the dish. Mussels w garlic in pot. This was traumatising. The mussels tasted like sewage. I'm not the only one that think so. I wanted to throw up. Told that to the server, she doubted us until we said she should try it herself. I have eaten soooooo much mussels. One cannot tell me that's how it is supposed to taste. The service staff took the mussels out of our bill and also the bread basket in good will. Something we appreciate but do feel the response could be better. Cuttlefish has always been our go to place for yummy seafood but this trip have left such a bad taste in my mouth(literally too). This is us spending more than £100. It is very disappointing. I do not think I will go again.

Excellent dinner when we visited Oxford on a Monday night. Food is fresh and the service was absolutely superb, as the joint owner was there working as one of the front of the house members, and without doubt the service timing of serving was spot on. We had octopus and another very delightful seafood pasta dish and both was so delicious. Highly recommend this place if you visit Oxford. Definitely going back in our next visit to the city!

Imaginative and well-prepared neighbourhood fish and seafood restaurant at reasonable prices for the quality. 3-course dinner for 4 was c £180 including wine. Tried two of the specials, both delicious.

Service was great , food was awful ,we ordered fish and chips the batter was lovely, but once we had cut into fish it was like jelly The waitress went into the kitchen to speak to the chef , he didn't even come out and see us he just sent the waitress back out and said it was supposed to be like that Very dissapointed

A quaint but cosy Italian seafood themed restaurant within comfortable walking distance from all of the popular tourist spots in Oxford city. Viewing the easy-to-negotiate menu without eye watering prices, one is immediately put to ease, added to by the friendly and welcoming staff. The food came reasonably quick, and I was pleased with the rather large portions. The food did lack a bit of finesse and could've been presented better. My companion's signature seafood platter was slightly warmer than it should've been presented and did lack a bit of freshness and taste. The standard fish & chips was acceptable, but the chips were frozen bought and not freshly made, nor triple cooked. Overall twas acceptable. I would probably come again, but not for any special occasions, like a birthday or a date.

A great range of delicious, fresh seafood - best I’ve tried in Oxford! Just the right amount of attentive service in a comforting environment. Perfect for a date, family gatherings, or a nice meal with a friend!

I took sea bass fillets with green salad and it was really delicious

A really good menu with several “specials” on top of the normal menu. Very good service, excellent food and all at a very reasonable price. Excellent service in dealing with my partner’s gluten allergy.

Used to be a great place and I don’t know what happened and when (as I only visit Oxford) but food was mediocre today, plain and basic - I make better pasta at home. Bread wasn’t even a real bread just some cheap gummy one you know from airplanes. Also the decor - used to be white tablecloths and now it’s plastic covers like in a kebab place. Seriously when a place downgrades there should be warnings for customers. There’s nothing more disappointing than visible lowering of standards on all fronts.
