Expectations were understandably low for this roadside motel next to sewerage treatment plant but this place failed to meet those low expectations with flying colours. On arrival the reception staff were pleasant enough but the creaky steps on the way to our room were a prelude to a litany of horrors. Passing a stack of dirty room service plates in the corridor we got to our room turned out to be ok, dated, cold, smelling of the sewerage but ok. Dirty mugs but ok. Broken toilet roll holder but ok. After a long train journey to a family party at the Cuttle Bridge we understandably wanted to freshen up. After running the shower for an age it was clear there was no hot water in our room. Return to reception, let them know the problem. No apology, no offer of a different room, the manager was away, they were powerless. Party time approaching I suffer the cold shower return to reception to ask for an update in the hope my husband could have a hot shower. 'The boiler is being reset' it's 'temptemental'. How long will it be? They can't say. Still no apology, no offer of a drink on the house for the trouble. Cold showers all round then. Never mind party on. Seemingly not a clean glass in the building, some so dirty they actually smelled. £10 for rum and coke, no ice, no slice and the worst tasting cola in the world. Try not to think about food preparation in a building with no hot water. To bed. Past the same plates of chips and onion rings we'd passed earlier now augmented with pizza boxes, the staff having assured us the water was fixed. Sweet dreams. The fire alarm served as our alarm clock. The gaps under the doors and the fire doors that don't shut properly in a building that feels like it's made of matchsticks definitely means I'm getting my pants on and running for the exit. Unfortunately the fire alarm was silenced and we resigned ourselves to cold showers (because of course the water wasn't fixed). Once again past the pile of leftovers in the corridor on our way to check out. But let's be positive, the wind had changed direction so all least we didn't have to suffer the stench of sewerage as we made our getaway past the lovely flower pots, or perhaps they were ashtrays?

After making a booking I received an email saying that they have live music till 1am. When we arrived the reception was well laid out, however that’s when they tell you that they charge £10 for a night’s parking. Carpets are badly worn and need a good clean. The room was awful with mould in the shower, broken double glazed window with traffic noise all night. The shelf fittings in the bathroom were rusty. In the pictures it shows chairs in the room and there weren’t any so nowhere to even sit other than the bed. We both had a terrible night’s sleep as walls were really thin and you could hear every word through them. When people walked around in the room above you could hear every footstep. Definitely would not stay here again very unhappy. Waste of money.

Food is excellent and good value (lots of 241 offers)...Bar is pleasant. Hotel accommodation is terrible or maybe just what you get for the price. Hotel block is made out of cardboard, you can hear everything in every room. Mattresses are tired with no protection. Seems to have many problem guests who have broadcast their bad sex noises or marital arguements. Friendly staff. Probably you get what you pay for, good location and free breakfast was decent.

Where do I start? How about the Overpriced food... I'm not sure who was in the kitchen and how this hotel can sell a £16 overcooked, dry burger, £17 Sunday roast with dried out stuffing balls and tasteless beef. I'm surprised that the breakfast was actually decent. Let's move onto the hotel room: A bed that can only resemble what it'd feel like to sleep on rocks, the walls were covered in markings and all together, it was a terrible experience and I will not be coming back. I would advise others to do the same. Splurge out a little extra dough and seek out a better place to stay:)

Wow very very disappointed 😞 the rooms were appalling, wallpaper hanging off, half a toilet roll and no blinds. The noise and the fact I wasn't able to sleep added to the lack of consideration for the their guests. We arrived early rooms were due to be ready at 3pm but weren't so had to wait a further hour, went to our room nearly slipped due to the bathroom swimming with water informed staff and all we go was sorry about that shocking really shocking then requested more towels and was promised we would get them and guess what nothing come of it. In the morning went down for breakfast and the member of Staff was rude and abrupt when we asked how does thing's go just a massive change from our previous experience to now but I know full well myself and my family or Friends will not return again.

Absolutely loved my stay here everyone was so nice and welcoming food was amazing breakfast was really good wide variety, close to were I need to be great views clean and well presented rooms couldn’t fault the place, they even let me keep my pre cooked food in there fridge for 2 day couldn’t thank them enough for this as didn’t want to cheat on my diet whilst at the Arnold Classic was so hard tho watching everyone else eat the fantastic food and my granddaughter tucking into the meals and desserts was so jealous, this stay was special to me as the staff were lovely and weren’t greedy I think this makes a place very special for example not charging me for a coffee or orange justice for granddaughter at breakfast time, this make a place extra special to me am 99% of place would charge I’ll use this hotel for life now when I visit the NEC for shows well worth a visit, I booked through booking .com next time I’ll book direct get better price and room upgrade gets even better

Went to a wedding in the function room and couldn't fault the venue or the staff, however that is not the same for the hotel, definitely needs refurbishment, rooms although clean are not up to standard, bed extremely hard and pillows even harder, hotel is very creaky so beware if there is a room above you. Breakfast OK, buffet style, looked better than it tasted

I don’t usually write lengthy reviews but due to the audacity of the staff/ management I’ve gone ahead… I stayed at this hotel Wednesday-Friday for a total of four weeks (15/3, 29/3, 19/4 and 3/5) 1st stay was fine, 2nd stay I was in a disabled room (I didn’t mind the fact it was a disabled room apart from the bathroom smell) where the bathroom smelt horrendous which triggered off my asthma. I tried to ignore it but around 10pm I couldn’t take it and informed reception where a lovely girl said “I believe you” when I asked her to go in and see. She then changed my room and explained that on my 2nd night stay I would have to switch rooms due to the room I moved into was booked out. On the way back from work I explained this to the guy at reception and my new room was allocated. 3rd week stay was fine, (even though there was a humming noise all night which disturbed my sleep… I did not complain). 4th week stay the bed had a large dip in the bed so I asked to change rooms. The guy at reception moved me to a family room. However, he must have been discussing me with the manager or he got pulled by the manager about changing my room as on the way out for food he had something to say. On the way out for food the guy at reception said next time I can book the canal view as it seems there are problems when I stay on the other side. On the way back into the hotel from going out for food I explained that the rooms I stay could be located on whatever side & that it didn’t bother me. What bothered me were the problems that I previously outlined. The guy at reception told me his manager said every week I complain and having to be moved. He went on to say he had even moved me (which was to do with the 2nd visit (disabled room, when I came home from work and had to go into another room). I explained today (Wednesday) this was the 2nd time I had been moved & outlined the reasons why. I even said you must have the wrong person! He went on to say that I have moved every week where again I stood my ground and told him I haven’t. He also mentioned that he has moved me. He advised me that next time I should book a more expensive room as the ones I’m booking are the cheaper rooms and to write in the notes that I want the canal view! (I was paying between £106-£120 with my discount). There was no reason for me to book a canal view as my stay was not for the view but for work purposes and to sleep. Tbh I wouldn’t pay no more to stay at this hotel and what I was paying was enough for this standard. Only stayed here due to the location. No liability at all and no apology regarding the room. Be humble and admit your rooms are not up to scratch. Maybe you should fix your drainage system and fix your beds! The rooms are advertised on numerous booking sites which discounts are given, is it my fault that the room smelt awful & that the bed needed throwing out??? I would have accepted an apology and not made to feel that all I do is complain when that is not the case. Very quick to dismiss what I had to say too and unprofessional. So Thursday day morning I woke up and went to use the shower, the door fell off the roller hinges. So after being told “I complain” I definitely wasn’t happy about this. I spoke to the night manager who was lovely and even offered me breakfast (had to decline as I was now late for work). I explained the situation about the day before and he said he would pass the info on to the manager! Also that the door would be fixed. Came back Thursday evening and the door was still broken after being told by the guy in reception it would probably be fixed due to me reporting it in the morning. I spoke to another lovely lady who I explained everything to & she offered me breakfast & to change my room but to be honest I was exhausted and declined due to me leaving at 8am the next morning. The lovely lady explained that it was wrong how I was dealt with. For this reason I will not be staying at this hotel again.
