The food here is always absolutely faultless, perfect every single time. But the set up, atmosphere, ordering, comfort, and service is just about the worst it could possibly be. It's best suited to small families with children (play area in the corner downstairs), or as the first stop in a Stag/Hen do etc. Atmosphere is cold and industrial, seats are uncomfortable barstools very very close to other tables. Always very noisy, you'll need to shout. No table service at all, everything is done via app (also don't go here unless you're very phone/app savvy), and all food will arrive at different times, sometimes 45min apart even if ordered at the same time. Very very DIY/minimal service set up, with upmarket Kelham prices. This could be such a brilliant place, as the food is absolutely amazing. But the whole place just doesn't work. Needs a lot of improvement. But once you eat a Bullion chocolate brownie, you'll forget about all that.

Cutlery Works is a great choice for groups as there are a lot of different food options. I tend to stick to Ma-Ba as their food is vegan friendly and consistently delicious. It can get loud, so you'll need to shout if you're trying to have a conversation. There's also not a lot of relaxing seating - you're mainly squeezed in to uncomfortable chairs on large mess-hall type tables that can feel a little too close for comfort. This is fine for a quick lunch or dinner, but not great for relaxing and catching up with your family or friends. You will also probably end up with the smell in your clothes and hair for a while too.

I booked Cutlery Works in advance to compliment a rare date night with my wife, and also to avoid any long waiting times. Despite booking in advance, we still had to wait outside for 20 minutes to be seen to. When we did eventually get to our table, everyone around us had been given table service by a waitress, however after a further 20 minutes of waiting, we didn't get that service, so just opted to use the QR Code and order ourselves. Our next mistake of the night was ordering from Konjo. We went via the app (as most people would), made our order, received SMS confirmation of it, and then waited for our next text message once the food was ready. This resulted in us waiting 1 hour 30 minutes, to which my wife went to check with the vendor what was happening with our food. The member of staff claimed to not have received the order, we provided the proof, to which he said he would make it next and it would be ready in 15 minutes. 30 minutes after this, we eventually received our food. (A full 2 hour wait for food!) Whilst the food was nice/ of good quality, the overall experience was extremely poor. Considering how expensive it was, I expected much better, and certainly more volume. Such a shame, as considering the climate we live in, it's not often we get to eat out. The staff behind the bar were very slow aswell, and were more interested in the social aspect of working, rather than the working aspect of work. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g186364-d15557614-r939822954-Cutlery_Works-Sheffield_South_Yorkshire_England.html#

Wasn't really sure what to expect, but this wasn't it. Screaming kids. Loud / raised voices. I couldn't even hold a conversation with my wife because of the noise. The seating is mismatched. High stools, benches, sofas, wonky patio furniture. Depending on where you sit, you can have someone near enough sat on your shoulder because of the differing heights of the seats. It's as if the furniture was sourced from a variety of charity shops & just chucked in. On the plus side, the only saving grace is the food. We chose Ma ba indian restaurant & it was very good. A generous portion of rice & chicken curry with a piece of naan. My wife ordered a chicken tikka naanwich. Again, the food was very nice indeed. I know people who really like this place, but it's just not for me. Contactless payments only.

Unfortunately they have implemented a new app for ordering and it is horrific. The old system sit down tap youp phone menu pops up to order and food to the table was great. The new app is glitchy, doesn't work properly and makes it difficult. Not impressed at all. 15/2 Further update the new app works but still is no table service, they even have the cheek to charge you for using it. These poor management decisions are killing this facility. Was nearly empty , every time I come it's getting quieter. They are killing it.

Shame to have left two stars because the food from Ma-ba was perfect and their staff were great BUT, the order for the bar didn't go through, so we had to go to the bar for our drinks (yes a minor inconvenience but they boast a perfect system that's been tried, replaced, tested and tried again). Our food order was placed at the same time as the unsuccessful drinks, but the notification we were assured would tell us our food was ready never came, so 15 minutes after the estimated ready time we went to check on food that had been ready and waiting for around ten minutes. Thank god for the amazing quality of the food because the iBe! system is an absolute shambles.

We had a disappointing evening at Cutlery Works, specifically at Greek Gods. Despite assuring us in advance about their allergen precautions, the staff hesitated during our order after we explained our little boy had a peanut allergy. Unfortunately, they expressed concerns about cross-contamination and suggested we don’t order at their stall. This contradicted their menu allergy advice / guidance . Disappointingly, our little boy couldn't eat there, which was disheartening given their menu looked like they take allergies seriously - but they don’t. Those with allergies, be cautious at this particular stall.

Is this place under new ownership? Went recently with a few friends and was disappointed to see table service has been removed, so us all having to watch our phones like hawks to see when food was ready on the awful ordering app then all separately getting up and collecting every 5 minutes just made it a horrendous experience to try and socialise. I understand food is ready at different times but at least you used to be able to stay seated and relax. Thoroughly stressful experience. I feel for the vendors as the food remains stunning, highly recommend ordering for takeaway instead if you are considering eating here. Also the bar staff were really rude and far more interested in chatting to each other about personal plans than offering any sort of customer service. Looking forward to the same copy and paste response you've given the last few negative reviews which perfectly highlights the contempt you seem to hold for paying customers these days.

DONT EAT HERE IF YOU EXPECT ANY SORT OF SERVICE/HAVE CHILDREN/DOGS/DISABILITIES. Unfortuntaley, Cutlery works have lost regular paying customers in myself, my friends and my family. This eatery has always been a favourite of mine, due to the multiple food vendors to choose from in one building. However, there's now NO TABLE SERVICE?! So myself and my 4 friends all ordered from different places, and during our short 1 hour stay we each had to get up 3 times to collect our own food and drinks. Appalling. All of us ended up eating at different times, we barely got to talk as a group because someone was always missing and I had to travel with my small dog through a busy restaurant twice because the bar refused to let me take my pint of coke without proof of a text message 😡 It never used to be this way, and what happens for parents with young babies? Or disabled people?! The absolute lack of care for their paying customers is not what I expected from my go to fave place. None of us will be returning here until table service resumes.

They use to deliver your food to your table which was much better. There is a good variety and some great independent vendors, just the lack of service really doesn't make it somewhere I would not rush back to. First & last time trying Cutlery works. Greeted at the door & told to go either upstairs or downstairs. No info on what to do / what to expect. Sat at a table & scanned little QR code to find yourself having to order via an app. Cool! Table service? Eerrr no. You pay a 99p charge to use the app & then get a text when your food is ready for collection. Where to pick it up from? No idea. Went searching & realised it was down stairs (we sat upstairs). Went to collect only to see 2 plates out on the counter with no heat lamp just getting cold. Asked for a tray but none. Had to trek all the way back upstairs, going through multiple doors, crowds waiting at the door & the cold wind at the entrance whilst holding my Luke warm plate of food. Went down to collect our second plate & drink only to be told there was a 5 minute wait on the drink. Stood there for another 5 minutes just looking at the plate of food getting colder & colder. WHY NO HEAT LAMPS AT MINIMUM? The portions are shocking for the value. I got a Laksa and had some 5 strands of bland defrosted chicken, half an egg & a watery laksa soup with the majority of the bowl full of noodles. Shocking to call it authentic. My other half ordered the Nasi Lemak and was greeted with a sad looking pile of rice, 5 peanuts & some greasy chicken. All just lukewarm & underwhelming. Utterly disappointed given the reviews of this place. Not worth the money at all, overly pricey, stupid design & food that’s just MID. Go elsewhere.

The food was excellent as always but they have changed the service style so you now get given a buzzer and have to go and collect your food yourself. This creates 2 problems; 1. If you order food from a different floor you basically have to walk outside to fetch your food 2. There is the constant beeping of buzzers... Everywhere... All the time.... Constantly! It's really annoying and kills any atmosphere.

Not been here for ages and booked a table for a family catch up. It's changed since I Iast went. You used to be able to order on the app and your order would be brought to the table, but now you have to collect it yourself from the vendors. We were a party of 5, all ordering from different vendors. One of us had a problem with orders not going through which we were only able to rectify by just going the vendor and paying for what we wanted. This all resulted in the first half of our time there, with at least one of us away from the table. On the plus side, all the food we ordered, we really enjoyed even though it wasn't all as hot as we'd have liked. Personally, when I went to collect my order - bao and fries - they'd not done the fries, I had to ask for them. Then I had to wait whilst they cooked them and by the time I got the food back to my table on the other floor, the bao was barely warm. I also skilfully spilled half my coffee from another vendor into the saucer carrying it downstairs. I'll be trying the food hall in Orchard Square next time as I don't love what I ordered enough to put up with all that faffery.

They used to give you points to discount food but this doesn't seem to work anymore. There is a small kids play area which needs some improvement but is better than nothing. The only thing that let's the place down is the bar service which in my experience is extremely slow at any time. EDIT. They have now removed table service as an option which has downgraded the experience. If you are eating in groups some one is missing most of the time collecting food. I also come often with my child, which means having to take him with me to collect food and leaving our stuff unattended at the table.

Now moving on to the front of house staff. Quite honestly I’ve never been spoken to in the manner that they thought was acceptable. The young woman with the blonde hair clearly needs some customer service training and some lessons in manners. A mix up with the booking which was clearly down to The Cutlery Works which she refused to accept even when presented with a booking reference and email exchanges the whole matter was met with complete disdain and unbelievable rudeness. After reading down the other reviews on here it’s clearly not the first time her attitude has come into question and maybe that is something the management need to take into consideration.

However, it has changed from table service to collecting your own food, which we weren't expecting, making it very chaotic and difficult to find the vendors as there's no map. Also, ordered drinks from the bar and the payment was taken but no drinks arrived, asked at the bar who said our order hadn't gone through but they could see it. They didn't come tell us this though, we had to go to them ages after getting our food. So we ended up paying for drinks twice, which isn't ideal. In response to the response on 10/12/23: The main point of the complaint (to a colleague on the day, and the review), was the fact that we went for brunch and the key vendor who is open for brunch stopped taking orders after an hour of trade (they even have the word brunch in their name!!). It has nothing to do with vendors having a card machine or not. It isn't the first time this has happened either. I could understand if there was a reason, (or some half decent attempt to offer a reason), or if it was the first time. But it has happened on a Sunday before and the blatant disregard to give a reason for not taking my order (which had already been submitted via the app 10 mins prior) baffled me. Safe to say, we all found today's visit really poor. 10/12/23: Used to be a great place to go to! But the last few times, it's been really poor. The food is great, atmosphere too. But the "app" for ordering is poor, leading to a number of "not received orders". I have been today, with 5 children, specifically with a view to order at CJs BRUNCH club as they have a good childrens menu and open early enough for them. I ordered at 11 and at 1115 they had declined my order and already stopped taking orders (not the first time). Had to go around finding an alternative for the kids and sacked off ordering for the adults due to poor service. Can't say I'll be in a rush to head back again, which is a shame. Used to be a great place .

It’s a great concept that Ive been visiting regularly since it opened, but at times it’s flawed. The ordering process can be painful and today I took 14 attempts to place my order. I think they recognise the issues as they have e changed the qr code to an nfc code and back again perhaps in an attempt to get it right. The service historically has been good but today it appears to be “click and collect”. I typically come alone and have a laptop that I now have to leave while I collect my food. It’s a shame as it worked great as a coworking space during the week, but i suspect the myriad of workers I normally see, including myself, will start to head elsewhere.

Not been here for ages but was looking forward to some nice food and drinks with a friend. We were both shocked at how downhill this place has gone. Judging by other reviews we are by far not the only ones. We queued to get in then ordered a drink at the bar and sat down. An extremely rude member of staff (long blonde hair, white top) then came over and barked at us demanding to know why we were sat there. We should have signed in at a stand in the entrance apparently but no-one had informed us of this. She acted incredulous about this as though we were lying. After our dressing down she made us move onto a table that had another group of friends sat there already. Then came the app debacle. My friend couldn't access the app so I ordered for both of us for collection. However despite payment going through, none of the stalls had our order so we had to argue our case 3 times which was just exhausting. The lovely lady at the final stall (the brownie one) informed me we could actually still pay at each stall. Why don't you make this clear Cutlery Works? You would have more satisfied customers if you did this. My curry was lovely as was my brownie. But no spoon and the curry definitely needed a spoon. The stall just shrugged and said I would need to just use a fork. Luckily the guy cleaning the place was able to source me one. I don't think we will come back. What was supposed to be a nice relaxing evening felt like a battle sadly.

Shambles! Not been in a while and I won’t be rushing back any time soon. No table service anymore New App that the vendors don’t like as it causes more issues than anything. I was charged for food but it never went through to the vendor. I’ve now have to claim a refund via the website. Feels run down. Try hard Cutlery works.

First time here. Despite booking we had the wait for about 10 minutes to be seated. Were seated upstairs and most of the food outlets are downstairs. Online ordering didn't work for our chosen food but would have cost 99p extra if it had. So we had to go downstairs to order and again to collect it when it was ready. Cutlery supply at the food vendor was not topped up and no serviettes at all. Floor and tables were all sticky.

Usually great food (vendor dependent). Ordered from Mav's the other day and it wasn't anything near as good and it used to be. Hugely reduced menu, used to be good sauces and slaw on the fried chicken burgers, with good portions of chicken, but now it's dry seasoning, plastic cheese and lettuce with one piece of chicken. Used to come with waffle fries (which they still said would come with the burger), but the dish came with literally McCain's crinkle cut chips hahaha. Still charging nearly £13 for this. Embarrassing.

Don't accept a trial shift at this place, they will not get back to you to tell you if you have been a successful or not, they do not reply to emails or messages. They are quite happy to have people work like slaves for 5 hours for free... what a despicable way to treat people, I will never go there ever again .

Arrived on time, told to make our way upstairs. Walked into restaurant looking for where to go & was met with “no, go back outside & wait by the Photo Booth’. Felt like 6yr olds. Table app was difficult to get going too. Quick food yes but not somewhere to enjoy food with friends. Far too loud for that.

I've been here a few times and it is nice with a variety of good food. But I am writing a review at the last two times I've been I've seen mice and rats running about which is off putting. I'm assuming the staff know as they're pretty obvious, and as I've been at least 6 months apart it seems a permenant fixture. I do understand that it must be nigh on impossible to keep them out of that kind of venue but still. They also have a new ordering system which doesn't work for all phones. I think there should be a qr code option or Web link provided as well.

The service is not what it used to be and food and drink took ages. I ordered a pizza that took 30 minutes to get to me. The staff were rude when I asked what the delay was for and they made out they only just got the order and were very busy (on a Wednesday). There were no pizzas even in the oven and two of them working to prep one single pizza. The app is really poor (if you can even get it to work) and overall I just find this place really disappointing. There are loads of better places to spend your money in Kelham Island!

Rubbish Technology just simply doesn't work. Tried to order on phone twice and couldn't do it. What's wrong with simply asking a waitress!!! Server had no idea why order wouldn't process. This place sells itself as a trendy contemporary venue but they really don't have a clue

Food was nice but very overpriced. £12.50 for a tiny boa bun and 6 chicken wings. The bar charges are extortionate. £5.60 for a pint of shandy. Friend had burger and chips for £13.50. Pure greed

The service is the worst part. The app wasn’t working, so we had to go to the different stalls. The man at the fried chicken restaurant was rude and it seemed like nobody working there wanted to be there. There were no forks on the table, so you had to go round the different tables finding them, the tables were sticky and clearly don’t get cleaned between guests. The drinks took a lifetime to come out, and there is little to no soft drinks options unless you want a chuppa chups or dib dab drink. The food is OK. The area is so loud that you can’t hear, so I wouldn’t recommend going if you want a proper chat.

Fantastic array of food and drink options. Sadly, the NFC ordering tech doesn't really work because half of the NFC stickers have been removed from the tables, but it was nice to go old school and actually speak to the people at each outlet!

Awful experience. Attended midday, midweek, not busy so can’t complain about that. The ‘tap me’ signs on the table don’t work whatsoever. No instructions as to what you should be doing. Eventually managed to ask someone who explained but despite doing as we were advised still didn’t work. The website doesn’t explain what you’re supposed to do either. When looking at the menu online each time you click the ‘go back’ button it takes you right back to the main page for all the menus to have to go through each time. Not user friendly. If you’re a visitor to the city you’d have no idea what you’re supposed to do. Management should really take into consideration the number of reviews commenting on the awful way to order and look to improve the experience. I won’t be coming back any time soon until that changes.

Been here a few times over the last year or so. It used to be really good, downstairs is better than the second floor. But, food prices have gone up and it's no longer reasonable. Very small portions ... basically cost us £50+ for one drink and an appetizer sized "meal". Six of us all agreed not going again. Also a QR code app, that again didn't work... ended up ordering at the counter...

Had a great experience here as we brought 22 students to explore the area and have some lunch. We were obviously able to accommodate various dietary requirements via the many vendors, the only hiccup being making payments. As it was a work expense we only had the one card to pay with and as we’d not booked far enough in advance it involved one staff member running around paying for meals pretty much person by person. There was also no means of opening a bar tab so we literally queued everyone up to order and pay together which did rather tie up the bar for other visitors - sorry!
