Discovered this wee gem quite by accident. On our way to St Andrews, the need for an afternoon coffee overtook my wife, and there it was, just in time! Coffee and cakes, OK, choice was limited, but, it was 4 o'clockish. What we had was lovely, the coffee and tea was hot (not always the case in garden centres) and the cakes tasty. We were shown to our table, and served quickly, by perfectly polite young people. Buoyed by our snack, we enjoyed buying some beautiful garden plants. I was surprised to read the negative reports on Caulders, but I can assure everyone, that things seem to have improved hugely One of our best finds among garden centres

Went for coffee and a cake. Waited in queue for a while although restaurant was only about half full. An older lady barked 'booked?' At us. I responded with 'Good morning' and said that we hadn't booked but just wanted coffee. We were taken to a table. After waiting for over 15 minutes we left. A pleasant young man beat us out to the till and apologised when I said we weren't attended to. Pity his older colleague hadn't been so polite

We discovered this stunning Garden Centre purely by chance and were very glad we did. After a browse around the incredible display of plants, garden accessories etc. we headed for the restaurant which we were well looked after by the attentive staff. The food and service were first class and is now a "must visit" when we are next in the area.

Haven’t been here for a few years and I now remember why Couldn’t fault food and service from the young waitresses who served our table. Table was booked in advance and never advised about time restrictions on table when booking but if I had been I’d have no problem with it. However at 2.25 we were approached by a member of staff and was advised. “ Ye’ll have to leave, that table is only booked till 2.30” in an extremely gruff voice. First I’d heard of this and would have been happy to give up the table if she had explained in a nice manner that she had people waiting on the table. Not sure which Charm school she attended, if any. On leaving premises to pay there were queues of people waiting to enter and exit and NO SIGNS of social distancing and no one monitoring the queue During the pandemic many restaurants have made a big effort but this is not one of them. That’s why I will NEVER return to this restaurant

I had been once before to this restaurant but only for coffee. This time I had lunch. It was wonderful so much so I went 2 days in a row. First time I had the Mac and cheese with crusty bread,it was really tasty and filling. Being greed guts I went for a sweet to follow it was very very moorish but a large portion could not finish it. My husband has the fish pot which again he said was really tasty. My other friends had fish pie which was huge and her husband had the fish and chips again big portion and both said it was very good. Day 2 I along with my husband had the burger it came with home made coleslaw chips and sauce delicious my friend had the fish and chips but a small portion which again was delicious. I did not have a sweet this time as the mains were very filling. All in all 2 lovely lunches very reasonably priced but above all very tasty. If going please booked as it is extremely busy at Lunchtime

We ate there today 7/9/20. The standard of care, track n trace, hand sanitizers; clean tables, chairs and menus was great. Staff training must be good. Everyone is so efficient and friendly. Note taken of arrival and departure times. Tables are well spaced out. The food was very good. A huge Meringue is a great choice to go with coffee and supplied with a take away box if you can’t finish it... a real ‘old fashioned’ homemade meringue...delicious! Thank you to all staff concerned for a very enjoyable lunch experience.

Just about every one of the plants I've bought from this well-stocked, and well-maintained garden centre has thrived: and such a great choice they have! The prices are very reasonable. What's more there's been a considerable development in what the space has to offer, by way of extending the Gift Shop, and having a posh clothes shop. This was very good, a decent plateful, real pressed fresh orange, excellent fresh coffee, all for £6.95. The service was very good and attentive. All staff were cheerful and engaged us in conversation. I find it surprising and dubious that previous commenters have found fault either with the food or the service. Staff were all very friendly, especially Hazel, who seemed to do everything! Despite it being busy, it was still pleasant and relaxing and wasn't rushed. Extensive menu is still the same, with 'snacky' items such as baked potatoes and paninis and more substantial mains as well, plus a larger selection of cakes and pastries. We went about 4.15 but the place was empty and, although we were told they were still serving, the staff were clearly preparing to close. It is quite a large cafe with seating in two different areas. Pleasant but slightly uninspiring. We had tea/coffee and a tray bake. The pot of tea was fine and the coffee was nice. The tray bake was rather disappointing - it was yogurt and cranberry but only tasted very sweet with no other flavour. It was a pleasant enough snack but we felt rather hurried since, although it claims to stay open to 5 o'clock, they looked as though they wanted to close at 4.30. The garden centre is open until 5.30 and is well worth a visit. I'd certainly go again for a snack when we visit the garden centre but next time we'll try to go a bit earlier for our tea/coffee.

The Cupar Garden Centre has been taken over by the Caulders chain and, keeping in mind the trend towards experience shopping rather than displaying goods, has extended its cafe and menu. We really enjoyed it: despite arriving at the tail end of the lunchtime rush hour, we had no trouble getting a table in the light and airy dining room. Although there was an impressive display of home baking, we settled on starters as a lunchtime snack. Both were hot and tasty, and my chilli nachos deserve a special mention! The food is very affordable and I'd happily recommend it to others looking for a bite to eat if in the area.

The Garden Centre has changed hands and now, it's so much more vibrant; and its space transformed into, almost, a small department store!. Due to an unfortunate 'Incident' in which a shrub was incinerated (oh, if you really want to know, a friend was trying to smoke out a Wasp's nest) and I've been filling the void. Actually (although i shan't tell him) it gave me an opportunity to do another kind of transformation, and I got most of the plants from Caulders. Today, I called by to have a light snack. The attractive restaurant was, pretty well, filled up with other satisfied customers. A very attractive p[lace to while away the odd hour. And the Gift area is filled with attractive displays.

My Mum and I decided to pop in for coffee, which became afternoon tea for two, it was lovely. Very friendly, prompt service.

We called in here on the way home and decided to have lunch. We were glad we did. The place has been all updated and has a nice buzz to it. The food was good and very reasonably priced. The menus are most variable.

This place has just changed hands and it has been refurbished sensitively. Fortunately the previous owner has stayed on to manage the restaurant so the previous high and friendly standards have been maintained. Good place for a lunch and there is an excellent selection of cakes to have with tea, coffee etc. Recommended.

Went for steak night but extremely disappointed. Asked for medium steak but was more rare.Few soggy chips, hard peas and two underdone soggy onion rings. No salad as advertsed. Food was also cold. Asked for a prosecco and was told had no cold ones . Was given small one off top shelf behind bar but when I opened it it was completely flat and very yellow so I think it must have been on the shelf a long while! Lady opened big bottle which again came from top shelf so was not cold but was bubbly. Can't believe there was no bottles in wine fridge. Sticky toffee pudding was good though. Seeing as there was just one other couple in the restaurant there really was no excuse for steak meal being so poor as kitchen not rushed. Won't be rushing back!!!

Great location on the Old Course. Beautiful modern terrace on the top floor with stunning views across the fairways to the sea. So wanted to like this place but were disappointed. Food was standard golfing fare - steaks and lobster - OK but nothing special . Wine list reasonable for price and choice. What lets the place down is the lack of management oversight. Tables with broken legs, jet lagged golfers asleep in the lobby, incredibly noisy ambience all overseen by a well meaning but overwhelmed serving staff. Not what you expect when paying $400 for a meal for two. Dinner took three and a half hours. We had to track down staff to order wine, coffee and get the check. Could be a good dining alternative to the Old Course Hotel but its let down badly by the service. Seems its owned by one of those absentee investment companies and it shows .

Had afternoon Tea today(Sunday). The view is stunning, overlooking the golf course and the Forth. We had to wait around 10 minutes and received 4 types of sandwiches, a plain scone and fruit scone and a variety of cakes. The scones were some of the best I’ve ever had- warm from the oven, the cakes were light. We received a bottle of water and large pot of tea but had to ask for glasses. The toilets were a bit more dated than the restaurant but clean

When the weather turns cold, shops closed, you don’t want a restaurant, just a cuppa, Alexander and George will make you welcome. Enticed by the chips! Feel much better now. Thanks guys!

Arranged to meet friends here for a lunch and a catch up. This is a very popular visit with very pleasant surroundings through a very large conservatory contributing to a very well lit area. There are a number of tables within the conservatory and your extensive menu is on the table. There are hot and cold food choices ordered at the server and brought to your table. We opted for chicken and rice soup and tomato and vegetable soup. To accompany the soup we ordered cheese and onion toasties and cheese and ham. We had carrot cake put aside for later that was the last of it. The chicken soup had a distinct homemade stock flavour with generous amounts of chicken through the rice and veg. The toasties came with crisps and side salad and coleslaw on the side. They were very well cooked with a generous filling. Finally the piece de resistance the home baking carrot cake came bursting with flavour very moist and topped with a very sweet icing. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone and will definitely be back.
