Food nice but not hot mushrooms we're cold

Very nice, lots of room, good beer and coffee.

Having read the reviews we were a bit unsure about the parking here, risk of fines etc. I was taking a family member to the hospital and we’d talked several times about popping in here one day, today was the day. Our plan was to park, get food and a coffee, before an appointment. To me the signs were clear that it was a paid car park. They were on the entrance driving in as well as a several dotted around the car park, and a pay machine right by the door. The pricing info was only next to the payment machines, but that’s okay. I’ve posted pics to help others. Once we’d paid parking it was easy to reclaim inside the pub along with food. cash and cards accepted at the machine - DONT pay by Paybyphone if you want to reclaim. I think my advice is simply: read the instructions. One thing I’m still not sure about is that the sign says you have to give car details inside the pub, but I wasn’t asked for it and the receipt system doesn’t need that, so that part of the signs could be clearer. Max parking time is 4hrs. The staff were friendly - a pleasure. The service was lightning quick. And the fish and chips was tasty. The prices of the food with the 2-for-1 offer you really can’t fault. When I paid for food I simply handed the staff the receipt for £9 parking and it was subtracted from the bill. No hassle, no questions, no issues. I’m sure we’ll be back again. There were only two minor negatives.. 1) the steps up from the car park to the pub need looking at. My mum uses a walking stick and found the first step quite high. 2) outside the pub, walking to the hospital the trees are overgrown so you have to duck under them.

The place was empty and dead when me and my sister went Toilets were clean Tables were clean A staff member was wiping down food menus which was a positive as usually these are abit grim and can see mucky finger prints when you go to places However the food is a let down and over priced. My sister asked for mushrooms and chips. And the mushrooms came in a little poxy pot full of water at the bottom. Clearly tinned. The tikka masala was edible but not amazing. It's obvious why the place was dead. The bar attender however was friendly. Ive visited better places.

We decided to have a meal at the Cumberland on the spur of the moment. The pub was warm and clean. The staff were friendly and efficient and our meal arrived in under 30 minutes. The food itself was good, nicely presented on the plates but unfortunately I have to say that the portion sizes need looking at. To say it was an adult meal (not a pensioners special or a lighter bite) it needs to be increased, my 10 year old grandson could have quite easily cleared the plate!

Good food, with a good atmosphere. Only down side is we had to get our own cutlery and sauces. Normally busy but have plenty of seats

Great value for money, good quality food, lovely building, nice atmosphere, nice staff, decent facilities. Simples. Steak cooked to perfection which is always noteworthy. 100% recommend.

I have come from Scotland to meet my family who have come up from Northampton. So we chose the Cumberland as it was perfect to bring a baby and had parking. The staff are amazing, friendly and and really down to earth, food is great and a lovely atmosphere. Just a perfect place. Thank you very much!!

Friendly pub restaurant atmosphere friendly. Staff are friendly and helpful. Feel comfortable as a woman going on my own. Mainly go during the daytime rather than the evening. Always feel welcome.

How can a pub belonging to a major chain run out of Sunday lunch 1 hr after opening.. absolutely disgusting...... as a replacement, I ordered the Chicken New Yorker, which consisted of 2bits of chicken breast about 2" square covered in a brown crusty covering which was supposed to be bbq sauce and cheese neither of which were distinguishable, not forgetting the tiny piece of what was supposed to be grilled back bacon but resembled a piece of cardboard........ Will vote with my feet and never return...

Nice weekday treat, got the 2 for £11.99 meals offer and with our blue light discount it’s a tenner! Fast and friendly service.

Took my friend for lunch, it was nice and hot presented lovely the staff very friendly. We'll be calling again. We enjoyed chicken and salad.

I called in this pub to wait while a relative was having a procedure at the hospital across the road. It was very nice both inside and out and had a friendly atmosphere. The drinks were very affordable. I would like to go again in the future to try the food

Called in here for lunch and had the fish, chips and mushy peas which was delicious. Food arrived very quickly and the staff were lovely.

Friendly large pub restraunt. Good varied choice of food. Very popular. Plenty of parking space. Large Launed area with picnic area and outdoor screen for sports TV. Plenty of entertainment. A good choice for everyone and families.

The food was basic pub grub but Clean. Decor inviting and cosy but the customers were disgraceful. We sat in the Cosy snug but there were many workmen swearing and shouting. We then moved over to the family area which was even worse as there was drunk mothers shouting and swearing and even leaving there toddlers behind.

Food was lovely standard pub food service was shocking 4 members of staff working only Donna actually doing anything which I praised her for but then the gentleman who brought my food literally chucked it in front of me and verbally abused us on his way back to the bar.

Disabled shamed I have a disability and a support dog which Helps be get out and about on my better days we when to this pub whilst in Doncaster as we noticed it says about support dogs we, but as soon as we walked in I felt unwelcome and a hash atmosphere with everyone looking at me I went to the toilet saying it was just me,but sadly it was true as my partner and text me to say to we had to leave cause he didn't have his support jacket on I've never been so embarrassed and it triggered my disability really bad I would not recommend this pub or the green king brand if this is how they treat the disabled and vulnerable adult

had a brilliant steak in here last week cooked to perfection! everything wasnt too much trouble for the staff who are really polite and friendly! will definitely be returning again!

Used to be a good meal but a dated place since the revamp it's a nice place but shocking food the kids meal was bigger than the biggest mixed grill I paid full wack for the meat was sub par the chef obviously doesn't know the difference between medium rare and well done to top it off the carpark is operated privately meaning you need to buy a ticket from Britannia parking or get shafted by a nice £100 fine but don't expect the staff to warn you about the parking as much as they do sporting x900 eye lash extensions I will never return here it's not worth the money or the agro for parking

When we travelled from BARNSLEY to here to have a meal and found out you have to pay £5 for 2 hours we left immediately. Why pay for parking in their car park for a meal which we have to pay. Anyone deciding to come here go somewhere else with free parking. These have lost 2 customer's.

The car park is pay & display but if you use the pub you can offset the parking charge against your bill.

Dropped some friends off in car park, went back 2 hours later to pick them up after they had had their meal. For being their taxi driver i was rewarded with a parking fine PCN 12572547 spoke with one of the managers who helped me greatly, TOP MAN.

Visited here for a meal with my wife and daughter on a lovely summer evening. Service was quick and the food was fabulous, the staff really friendly. Then received a parking fine but spoke with the lovely James about PCN 12580958. Will definitely visit again soon

Had a lovely meal here today when we met up with some friends. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and when we was leaving we passed the sign for the parking which we didn’t see on the way in so we went back in to the bar and Kenny was very helpful in resolving our problem with the parking resulting in us hopefully avoiding the parking fine.

Eat regularly at the Cumberland, great staff, great service and amazing food, however being sent an extortionate parking fine for spending time enjoying our meal after paying for parking anyway just puts me off. Sort the parking charge out and we'll come back. Charge number:12526515

It was an extremely hot day and there is no air con inside so we was a bit uncomfortable eating our meal. Food was lovely. The waitress seemed a bit uninterested and didn’t seem to want to be there. Other then this it was ok.

Be very wary of the parking ticket, you pay for a ticket and redeem it on food at the bar, however 3 weeks later I received a letter from the private parking company saying I hadn't payed for parking, the fine is £100,ongoing up to £170,because of late payment, the landlord as assured me it's being sorted, but watch this space, it's been an absolute horrendous experience

We called in after having car serviced at Wheatley Hall Road, service was good, Fabulous family eat for £15 deal! Food was really nice, great value. Unfortunately due to not knowing the area we did not notice parking signs (been to loads of greene king pubs and never paid for parking so it just didn't occur). As my wife had taken me to get my car I was shocked to get not one (12495741) but two (12495774) £60/£100 parking tickets. Spoke to a member of staff after receiving the ticket and they were very helpful. Hopefully resulting in a happy resolution 😁

Stopped off for food after a day with the family at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Staff were friendly and the pub was busy with a good atmosphere. Two weeks later we’ve had a letter through with a parking fine (12493063) of £60/100 for our hour visit, where we parked next to the beer garden I didn’t notice any signage but looking on Google earth I can see a sign near the entrance - I’m guessing it’s because of proximity to the hospital. Had we realised we would have paid for parking but never had to pay to park in a pub before so didn’t even cross my mind!

I visited Cumberland on 24th July 2023 with my 2 boys, food was delicious, staff were fantastic, polite, helpful and very accommodating when I have fussy eaters (didnt want salad in burger) food came out fast and hot. Only downside was that I received a parking ticket as I wasn't aware there was a system in place for parking. Ticket number 12467106

Fantastic place.. Great Atmsohere with great food. However not realising i needed to pay after 9pm. Would it be possible to resolve this please? Parking Charge 12441682 and my brother 12460677 - going forward we are now aware to pay for a ticket and be refunded at the bar when you purchase drinks.
