I was appalled to discover there is no disabled access to toilets at Poilane in 38 Cadogan Gardens. I recently visited with my mother who walks with a stick and has difficulty with stairs. The staff saw this as they seated us but they never warned us of the lack of access. Had they done so we would have gone elsewhere. It is particularly unacceptable because it is a new business so I don’t see how this lack of facilities is acceptable. It is also possibly illegal as restaurants have a duty to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ for people with disabilities. Given that this is a new business I fail to see how it is reasonable not to provide disabled toilets. Also the coffee is awful, the famous bread makes horrible toast - undercooked, dry and tasteless -and the service was indifferent

I have held out for over a year before writing this review. I have been coming here at least weekly for years and the standard was always high. I have to agree with the review of July which said that since the manager arrived a year or so ago standards have slipped. To put it mildly. He barely greets you. The menus are dog eared. The cutlery is in the middle of the large table (which is barely reachable) this used to be delivered with the food. The coffee is undrinkable and when I told this to the manager he shrugged his shoulders. What a great shame. The bread and the croissants are great but you can buy those to take away and go and have your coffee at Hagen down the kings road where the greeting is warm and the coffee delicious. I am sad to say I will not visit again.

The four of us arrived at Poilane at 0945 We were told that there were plenty of seats at the back, that was it. Infact there were two tables of 2 next to each other so we sat there. After ten minutes or so a waiter arrived and took our drinks order, coffee orange juice and water. 12 minutes later coffee arrived and then orange juice. we ordered pastries, fruit and boiled egg for our 7 year old grand daughter. My pastry came within minutes. My wife came 20 minutes later At 10.35 the eggs were put on the chefs counter. After 7 minutes I went and asked if I could take them,. No we'll bring them to you I was told. 5 minutes later they and the fruit arrived, the fruit was fizzy! We had to leave by ten to eleven and I asked for the bill. I had to stand by the til until it was finally produced. WITH service charge on it! which I refused to pay. I slight apology from the manageress but the staff did NOT appear to care. Do NOT go there it is frankly AWFUL

This restaurant is an attractive alternative for a light meal. The specialities are tartines, open-faced sandwiches served on Poilane bread which is baked nearby on Elizabeth Street. Accompaniment is a choice of soup or a green salad. Dessert choices vary daily. The bright interior arrangement includes large tables for groups as well as seating for one or two, which can be convenient if you happen to be lunching alone, perhaps before or after shopping across the road at Peter Jones.

Your visit can be hit or miss and for the past several months it is more like a miss.I have had a fantastic experience there on many occasions. On our last visit, coffee was great - again depends who is making it - but the apple tart - cut from a large one, when sometimes you have some individual ones, which were available at the time of our visit - was terrible. It was soggy and chewy on top - was it from yesterday's production - when it used to be lovely with a soft crunchy base.Service has gone down hill too ( wrong order, missing items or dishes not coming together ). The manager does not seem to have a clue of what is happening there, hardly present... Both of our tartines (beetroot and goats cheese, avocado) were disappointing. The famous sourdough was dry and stale, I think it was yesterday's. We were given 4 different black pepper grinders before we found one that actually had pepper in it. I asked for an egg on top, and asked for it runny. It came hard and they billed us for a full separate egg on toast breakfast. For the price (over £40) it should be an excellent meal. It really wasn't. Won't go again.

Service is usually very nice, friendly staff and good serive. Food is, well this is originally a bakery and sells loafs of bread and pastries inside, based on bread, mainly. But overall very nice and the price is fine (usually less than 10 pounds) I like the atmosphere most, kind of quiet and you can see various range of people visiting here. The first time I went in, strangely I couldn't get hold of a menu or I might have been tempted to have an unusual breakfast item. Another time I had their crispy toast and lemon curd. Excellent coffee, fashionable and unhurried, it's a trendy spot.

I went on a weekday lunch and it was still busy as anything. The menu is simple offerings of tartines using the famous bread, I had a cheese and ham which was delicious and frankly large enough for 2 but I was a greedy pig that day. Nice place with a convivial table and single seating along the wall that's a bit classroomy looking. Nice coffee too. I would definitely go back avoiding weekends.Service was very nice-I had a Spanish waiter who was great.

Even if you have never heard of the rather famous Poilâne bread - the original bakery being in Paris VI -, you can give this chic cafe next to Peter Jones in South Kensington a good try. We had breakfast there - with delicious bread or croissants - and lunch. They serve lovely salads, too. Instead of the rather English breakfast at the hotel, we often choose the Cuisine de Bar for something lighter and more elegant.

This neighbourhood classic French bistro has been a standard for Sloane Rangers and yummy mummies who inhabit the surrounding expensive real estate. Don't let that put you off though - the food is well made, good value and the service is excellent. If you can stand the yapping of lap dogs and the even more annoying yapping of the Sloanies ("dahling, the riviera was so common this summer. So disappointing. All those Russians"), sit back and enjoy the light airy space and the fresh baked breads. The baked egg dishes on the weekend are especially good.

Lovely and warm place. There are communal tables too in the main area where all the pôilane breads and other goodies. I highly encourage everyone to give it a try. If you're a bit hungry they have delicious soups and tartines which are toasts with various toppings to chose from. Yum yum yum

This is our third visit to this cafe. The first was OK, the second was poor so we went back for the decider, which turned out to be awful. The food is expensive and the service was really not good. We ordered from their "specials" and was only told 1 mins later that the key ingredient had run out earlier in the day. So I ordered another dish. Again, it took the staff another 10 mins to tell me that had also ran out. I eventually just gave up and shared the dishes ordered by my family. All of whom were disappointed with their dishes. To make matters worse, instead of offering some worthwhile compensation (such as comping a main dish or giving a 20+% discount, they made a big deal of taking off the cost of one cup of coffee ! This is about 3 quid off a 50 quid breakfast for 4 people. None of who will be going back.

This place is a terrific venue. Excellent and calming decor with it's position in 'Sloane Ranger' territory nothing short of perfect. I always expect a high service attitude by the staff and good fresh food when I drop in as I often do. This afternoon was no exception. Our coffee and croissants were excellent. Oh, and it was quite sweet listening into the conversation going on behind me. A young and very smart couple had just heard the news that they were expecting their first baby. Nice!!! The menu there is without doubt a tad over priced though ... but who cares!! Well worth going to when in the area.

This is the second time we've been here and again we had an excellent time. Staff were welcoming, smiling and attentive and the food was delicious. We also thought it was very good value as the tartines also include a choice of soup or salad. We also enjoyed fruit salads that were full of really sweet strawberries, raspberries and blueberries - lovely for the hot summer day. The restaurant décor is really nice with a choice of smaller tables for 1 or 2 or big sharing tables. Coffee came with a choice of cold or hot milk and reasonably priced at £2. Another plus is that you can buy the delicious Poilane bread and pastries to take away. Highly recommended

One would think with a brand a product of such excellence as Poilane (not to mention the location and decor), the owners would focus on outstanding and prompt service. We had an 11am breakfast last Sunday...lots of Y generation staff walking aimlessly rather than attending to customer needs. Restaurant was half empty when we arrived e.g. more wait staff than customers. We waited 15 minutes to order (couple egg dishes and one brioche w butter and marmalade). Egg dishes took 30 minutes to serve meanwhile we ran out of coffee and juice. No asked if we wanted more...getting the waitstaff attention was difficult. Juices were good, cappuccino was weak and cold, and (by the time we left), quite a number of patrons with dogs (lots of barking). Disappointing as we have been loyal both to their Paris and Elizabeth Street locations for many years and expected more.

The interior is very well done where they managed to bring diferent atmospheres wether you are on your own, with kids, or like us came for a brunch as couple. However we found it a bit over priced (£13 for slamon tartines...it's good but not £13 good). If they work on this they surely would have earned more starts from me ;-)

We like to eat French sandwiches and patisserie and eaten regularly at various full-service Paul branches, Laduree and some exquisite locations in Paris (including Poilane) so were keen to try out Poilane's latest venture behind Peter Jones in Chelsea.Decor is a mix of warm woods, exposed concrete with eclectic old framed paintings mixed with graffiti-esque murals. You can see down to the lower kitchen level in the central glass tower. We were surprised that on a Sunday in July at lunchtime the place was quiet and were delighted to get a table. Service was warm, smiling, friendly and efficient. We chose: Cured Baked Ham, which came with salad and bread - although the vine tomatoes were missing and no explanation given for this omission. The Chicken Caesar Tartine with salad rather than the soup option. We also had 2 generous sized pots of tea and a croissant. The mains are priced at £8.45 and £11.50 respectively. They were both delicious and the salads were perfectly dressed. It would have been more than appropriate to have been asked if we wanted the croissant warmed, we weren't and we had to ask for jam (which was then charged, which we think was more than cheeky)Deserts were the apple tart and brownie, both were OK but nothing amazing. We were expecting something more from them here, the other options were banana bread or carrot cake - you're not exactly shouting Parisian or French or avant-garde cuisine here guys! Come on!We left having purchased take away of 2 croissants and some brioche, the final bill was over £60.Would we return, maybe for a special occasion....although there are plenty of other places to go in London for those. This is just a cafe. Still unsure.

I am french and i ate in many good places before, this cuisine de bar from Poilane, is in Chelsea behind Peter Jones, the hot chocolate was average and not hot just tepid!! the brioche was good but 1 toast out of 2 was burned! good point for the lovely caramel fleur de sel from Beillevaire (another compagnie)the sourdough bread and the biscuits with croissant pain au chocolat and apple tarte was not better than Paul!! i will not go there again because it does not worth the high price! the staff were polite a bit arrogant though, which i do not like, but at least they smile, The Ina Garten Barefoot Comtessa and Nigella Lawson are wrong it isn't that good, sorryNasty toilet

Evitar a toda costa.

We had a lovely time at Gail’s, we sat in the back corner which felt cosy and private. The iced caramel latte was very nice.

We are here in London from the United States and so happy we found Brown & Rosie in Nottingham! We spent three weeks traveling around England… Brown & Rosie is at the top of our list of favorite places. We had dinner twice and breakfast once. Hamburgers were awesome. My French toast topped with fruit and ice cream was delicious! Not sure when we will back to London but we will never visit London again without stopping in at Brown & Rosie! Thanks so much from an American Tourist!

As long as you have an eternity to send here you should be golden. The service is there, but cannot really see it, food is a lot faster than expected considering it took 30mins to order and only 20mins to get the food. And if you forget to order something you might as well make peace with the fact you won’t get it. Staff is nice, but for some reason four floor staff and two in the kitchen Chen struggled to serve five tables with 20 people in total and quite a few people waiting to be seated had to leave.

Staff had no face masks nor were they telling customers to wear them Complete disregard of Government safty rules. AVOID..local supermarkets protect their staff and customers, Chegworths do not
