We went for an evening meal We were warmly greeted and shown to the bar and given menus while we waited for our table. We were the only ones in the restaurant but other tables were set up for later bookings. The service and food was all excellent and couldn’t fault any of it. We shall be returning

Platos encantador pero un poco pequeña. Ambiente excelente y el servicio no podría ser criticado. La idea podría ser para servir una verduras con el principal.

I booked dinner here as we were also staying at the hotel. We dressed smartly for dinner and it was so worth it. The room was quite beautiful if high ceilings and deeply decorated cornices. The tables were set impeccably and the food was exemplary. Beautifully presented and beautifully served. We started with bread and butter and a palette cleanser. My mother had soup of the day to start and this was brought to her and poured out at the table. Fancy! Well for us it was. Anyway, the 3 course meal was delicious, served fresh and hot and we couldn't fault it. Plus the staff were exemplary. A thoroughly beautiful and enjoyable dinner.

We ate at this restaurant for dinner on a Sunday evening as part of the hotel deal. The restaurant was full and the service was very slow as a result. When the food did arrive it was truly sensational, my wife and I can honestly say that the 3 course meal that we had at this restaurant was the best food that we have ever eaten. The main course of cod is to die for. The chef is the best asset that the Nunsmere hotel has and we will definitely dine at the Crystal restaurant again when we are next in the area,

We had booked ourselves in as a party of four, on the strength of the review in the 'Cheshire Life' we were greeted at the door and shown throught to the bar area where we had a pre-meal drink and ordered our meal from what seemed a quite diverse menu to suit all tastes the Hotel Manager Mr. Micheal Scott introduced himself to us, and showed us through to our table in the Crystal Restaurant a very elegant room and a beautiful table setting, we all had different courses from the menu the food was of a very high quality as indeed the service was. We would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant, and we shall return in the not to distant future, a big well done to Mr.Scott and his team. Keith & Joyce Barnes

This is a great place to go for a celebratory meal. The menu was interesting, the food was great, and beautifully presented. Everything was organised perfectly, with pre-dinner drinks in the bar where our orders were taken, to the serving of the meal. A most enjoyable experience.

Stayed at the Nunsmere Hall Hotel On Easter Friday having previously reserved a table in the Crystal Restaurant for evening dinner. We sat in the lounge bar for a pre dinner aperitif where the attentive staff ensured that our dinner menu was immediately brought to us. Our orders were duly taken and after a short interval, sufficient to finish our drinks, we were shown into the dining room. The waiters were attentive and our drinks and dinner courses served at just the right moments. We were looked after in a discreet, friendly and efficient manner. The food was excellent, well presented and very tasty. The tables were sufficiently separated to ensure you weren't crowded. I can only commend this restaurant to anyone who wants a fine dining experience, especially as the Nunsmere Hall Hotel itself is a fine place to stay.

We dined in the restaurant on a Friday evening and absolutely loved the experience from start to finish! We were greeted by Helen who was friendly and showed us through to the bar. Within seconds of us seating we were presented with olives and a selection of mixed nuts to enjoy well we looked through the menus. The choice on the menu was fantastic with a mix of dishes that made it hard to choose from! Eventually we chose and were promptly seated in the restaurant. Through the evening we were served by Mark, Greg and Palina who were all very attentive, friendly and professional. The food was magnificent. The amuse bouche (chilled cucumber velouté with cucumber foam) was served in a "miniature" bottle and was delicious and refreshing. Our starters (ham hock, duo of salmon) were brilliant as we're our mains (we both chose steaks, which were perfectly cooked!) My dining companion opted for a cocktail (cosmopolitan) instead of a sweet and I had the pana cotta which was amazing! After dinner we relaxed in the lounge with coffees. Overall the experience was fantastic. I couldn't fault the food or service and will definitely be back soon.

Not sure why it is called the Crystal restaurant as no chandeliers of crystal or indeed wine glasses. However very aceptable decor.Food of good quality and reasonably priced. Friendly waiting staff.

We have literally just returned from Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday with family and friends and had the most dreadful, farcical experience and the service was atrocious and amateur - not befitting this hotels standards at all. When we arrived we were ushered into the bar where there were no bar staff at all, just a small group of wedding guests; then when we did manage to track a member of staff down he disappeared just as quickly and we were left standing there wondering what was going on still without pre lunch drinks. We then went looking for another member of staff and ordered the drinks again - eventually, after asking for a THIRD time, two sets of drinks appeared and the order was wrong. We observed, another couple were having a similar experience and had been waiting for drinks a great deal longer than us.....After being seated and had eaten our starter, we had to request a wine list and ordered, our mains came but the wine didn't and there were no staff around to ask where it was?! The wine glasses came just as we finished our mains so obviously it was far too late, and the wine about 5 minutes later again......unbelievable! The staff were indiscernible for most of the meal, but when I went to the loo there appeared to be at least 5 of them and they were mostly found to be hanging around the till area outside the restaurant entrance...doing god knows what?Towards the end of the meal, we could see that some of the other diners at several of the tables were complaining about the terrible service to a scruffy man who we presumed was the restaurant manager (Steve?). We also asked to speak with him, he acknowledged our request but then disappeared! When we did eventually speak to him he was not really apologetic, but made excuses that he was having to work because another manager hadn't turned in. He said he would sort our bill out and then guess what.....disappeared again. It was embarrassing as we were the only diners left, just sitting at our table waiting for our bill which didn't appear. We got fed up waiting and left the restaurant and had to ask for the bill AGAIN at the till area outside.I would like to make it very clear to the chef and kitchen staff that the food was excellent; however the "Faulty Towers" approach to service is really not acceptable from the other members of staff. The waiting staff should still be able to function without a manager surely? It is quite obvious that Nunsmere is only interested in servicing the Wedding side of the business and the ordinary diners are left to their own devices. The Management need to take a serious look at what is going on and the staffing issues in the restaurant. I notice there is another similar review on TA which speaks volumes doesn't it. At least 3 or 4 other tables complained today. My birthday has been completely ruined. Thanks Nunsmere!

We went with friends on a deal and tried the five course tasting menu. I went with very high expectations - but came away a bit disappointed.... All the food looked great - but no dish was memorable. Was the chef away? My roast belly of pork compared poorly with some belly pork I'd had recently in a pub (which cost considerably less). There was nothing wrong with the service but it could have been a bit friendlier.

I would like to start by stating that we have tried two taster menus. We have enjoyed both times, and I think that is a very good sign. The surroundings were beautiful. Inside was immaculate and welcoming. The flavours, smells, textures and appearance all played with each other beautifully. The service matched the food, and was genuine with no pretentiousness. The smoke nuts (from the Cheshire Smoke House) served in the bar were amazing.

This restaurant really is the full package. I have eaten here on numerous occasions and each one has been as excellent as the other. The hotel's location is beautiful and serves for a relaxing dining experience. Staff are always on the mark and very professional. The food is top knotch, it could easily hold its own against any good michelin-rated food.Well done and keep up the excellent standard!

I booked a table at Nunsmere for Mother's Day following a previous visit on a similar occasion and at the request of my mother! The hotel and restaurant seems to appeal across the generations with little children seeming to enjoy it as much as older people. The atmosphere of the whole place is one of understated efficiency and good management. We enjoyed pre lunch drinks in the comfortable bar overlooking the Italianate gardens finally starting to emerge after the very cold winter. The drinks were accompanied by very a plate of hors d'oeuvres which were both original and tasty.Lunch was served in the elegant dining room which has been refurbished since our last visit. Following excellent starters, we had chosen the local beef which was succulent and cooked to perfection. The presentation was immaculate. We enjoyed a bottle of Fleurie which complemented the main dish.My mother chose the rhubarb crumble for pudding and hasn't stopped raving about it since. Served in its own crisp little pastry case the tender new season's pink rhubarb was covered in a sprinkling of crumble topped off with a delicately flavoured rhubarb ice cream.I opted for the piquant dark chocolate tart which was superb and also came highly recommended by our waitress with good reason. The restaurant was full but the service remained relaxed but efficient with a close attention to detail. This restaurant proved itself to be second to none for another Mother's Day. Many thanks to all at Nunsmere for making it so delightful.

My wife and family were recently invited to a tasting dinner evening at the Crystal Restaurant, Nunsmere Hall. I thought that the meal was superb with Chef very accommodating for me as I only eat fish, so I had an excellently prepared Monkfish. The other courses on the Dinner menu all went down well with our party, the open ravioli with Lobster was just perfect. We try and eat out as a family when possible and choose places where the chef is trying to achieve a high standard. Across Cheshire for Hotel food, I would say that the Crystal compares well with the 2nd Floor at Harvey Nicks (not an hotel but a large retail operation all the same) and The River Room at The Lowry. However, when I combine service with the food quality, I would say it’s probably the Crystal and The River Room at the top. Harvey Nicks is great for food, service can be a bit slow. The grounds at Nunsmere are also very pleasant and good for a stroll either pre or post dining, depending on the time of year. Highly Recommended.

Attended Saturday night quiz. Arrived at 7:00pm. Started with a glass of red wine and Mediterranean platter followed by a to die for cheesecake( all food freshly cooked by Jason ( chef ) and the team. Wolfed the cheese cake down and realised I hadn't took a picture. Had a few more vino's during the quiz along with some banter with Jason and the regular customers. All tables were booked and nice to see a full house. Made a change to the average Saturday night and will certainly do it again. Would recommend to call in prior for some brekky or lunch to book quiz any day before or on Saturday. Quiz moved on quicker than your normal pub quiz which was great with the light banter and no typical interruptions from pub scene. Didn't win the quiz but enjoyed trying.

Stumbled on this wonderful cafe as we were on our way home from a camping trip. The staff are incredibly friendly and were so welcoming and kind to my 5yo daughter. The food was amazing, we both had the breakfast and my daughter had a lunch box which she loved and I thought it was great value, when we went inside to pay we couldn't not buy one (or two) of the amazing cakes. So delicious. Thank you :)

Our favourite place to come for brunch after football. The team, as always, went above and beyond with the orders for our family (all with different dietary requirements). The boys had the classic big breakfast with local products at a great price. I tried the weekend special eggs Benedict and it was amazing. The boys filled their boots. The girls enjoyed new things. The doorstop toast alone is worth the visit. Sadly, no room for my favourite one the menu - parsnip cake, but the cake-away option meant I could enjoy it later. We brought a friend for their first visit and she was blown away.

Not religious at all but like other reviewers found this true OASIS when looking for refreshment in Chester Just great, lovely staff and clientele and great quality and value coffee and cakes... Interesting selection of books, gifts, cards etc Would use regularly if we lived locally Staff say they may have to relocate soon due to "commercial development of the site" Surely the Church which is not short of funds can provide an alternative venue for this wonderful place which probably does more for spreading the religious message than many more traditional churches etc...something in the Cathedral Precinct maybe?? Good luck to you all and God bless ( if it helps)
