Crust & Crumb77 in Calderdale

I started coming here, 3 months ago, and liked what Alex was trying to do, I even offered to hand out leaflets to promote it. Once I'd given 500 out, he banned me from the cafe. The staff here are lovely, as are the chefs, but the problem is Alex, the owner. If this is a community cafe, I'm Father Christmas, a white community cafe, maybe. I was the only non white person in this cafe in 3 months, eating in. Eating out, maybe a handful. I'd had complaints, according to Alex, but wouldn't explain the complaints. I've done body language courses, and Alex was clearly embellishing the truth. Discrimination, whichever sort is definite. I'll let you decide. I personally wouldn't want to go into a discriminatory café. Fortunately plenty of decent cafes in Brighouse.

We chose to support a small independent business rather than a chain but soon regretted our decision. The two almond croissants were so stale that after one bite I took them both back and asked for a refund. They were inedible and should have been thrown away. I was given a refund and an apology. Times are hard for small businesses but you cannot take hard earned cash from customers for sub-standard food that belongs in the bin

Just had lunch at the Crust and Crumb Alex did me a hot sandwich in the wood fired oven and put his own twist on it got to say it was amazing very highly recommended

Popped in to Crust and Crumb just by chance and had the best sandwiches- made by Alex himself using the wood fired oven. Amazing. The coffee was lovely too.

Absolutely amazing place- everything excellent. Only popped in for quick sandwich before our daughter's bday party, ended up having pizzas, salmon bagel, and a wonderful doughnut! The owner is really friendly and generous,and the quality of the fresh baked bread is self evident. Vegan pizza was loaded with veggies like artichokes and olives, salmon bagel spot on. We'll be back many times and telling friends. Busy but that's a good sign! The young staff are all friendly and helpful, this place is a real blessing for Brighouse. Thank you
