Crowns cafe in Wiltshire

The food was adequate, unfortunately the coffee from the espresso machine was awful, was not prepared properly and I think the beans were stale; could not manage to drink more than a few sips :-( Service and was friendly and prompt and restaurant was generally clean.

Cappuccino quite definitely the worst I've ever had

Whilst we were at the REME Museum we decided to pop into the cafe for a snack and a drink, although you don't have to go into the museum to use the cafe. Very friendly staff and a nice selection of cakes which we enjoyed. Everything was served well and the cafe was clean and tidy. We didn't have a meal, just cake and a drink, but the meals we saw being served looked very nice. Definitely worth a visit if you are visiting the museum or just popping by the cafe.

A real hidden gem - museum is also a must.

When to visit the REME Museum, started out with a nice breakfast in the Cafe, which set us up for the rest of the day

Went for a leaving breakfast with a few others, didn't know about thos place beforehand. The food was nice, we all pre-ordered which made it easier. Although, I had a breakfast bap without the egg and a cup of tea which came to £9, was not impressed by this as that's a massive mark up so won't be returning

A good choice of food in an exceptional clean cafe. I can think of nothing else to say to bring the word count up to the required 100. What a silly requirement!

What a lovely cafe. I always incorrectly assumed it was part of the museum but it’s not the case it’s open to everyone. Extremely clean and tidy, lovely food, very friendly lady serving and great prices too. The toilets were immaculate. Well worth a visit.

Excellent food wonderful service

Offered all we needed for a light lunch in comfort. There were only two of us, but I could see it would also be fine for bigger groups and young children.

Good coffee, not so good drinking out of a paper cup, I believe they were short staffed and had run out of clean cups. Great venue, well worth a visit, free parking.

Always very good service at the cafe Excellent fresh food surf everyday and homemade items are absolutely. It is much much better than any other cafe in the area he should go and visit.

We visited the reme museum and wanted to have something to eat. We missed breakfast which isa served until noon but the lunch menu was varied. 3 of us ordered the sausage roll, chips and beans and 1 had the chicken and bacon caesar salad. They arrived in a timely fashion. The plates were full which made a nice change from other places that don't put enough on the plate. The rare breed homemade sausage roll was amazing. I can't even describe how special it tasted and the pastry was cooked perfectly. The salad was a decent size and filled my daughter up. For 4 hungry people including 2 coffees, an iced coffee and a hot chocolate it cost under £40 which was reasonable. Food is locally sourced and homemade fresh in the premises

We were passing through the area needing a stop for lunch and found this place on Google. We were so glad we did! The cafe has an amazing children's play area in the garden with lots of interesting and unique things to play on. The food was tasty and good value for money and the staff were friendly and accommodating of our rather chaotic entrance with toddler twins! Will definitely be back when we are next in the area :)

Staff were very friendly, and the cafe was furnished to a very high standard. Very quiet on a Sunday and the food is very tasty, evidently hand made, there was about an inch of caramel on the shortbread ! would 100% recommend to families or friends meeting for coffee, or even just for a coffee after visiting the museum.

I had salmon and salad here. Absolutely delicious.

Poor customer service. Put other peoples orders infront and when finally received my order after their mess up there was no appology and coffee was cold.

It was very pleasing, the staff were very good, food was very good , some were we will go again, s buckeridge.

I've eaten here 3 times now, and I have to say despite having 3 different meals to give benefit of the doubt I really haven't enjoyed any of the food from here. I had a shortbread millionaire most recently I took 1 bite and left it. It had been in the fridge for a while from the taste it was so hard and dry really wasn't pleasant. I can't fault the hot drinks though they go down perfect. And the outdoor play area for the children is amazing my girls love it.

Had a wonderful couple hours ,just sitting out in the garden,food was beautiful Prepared and very tasty could eat it again , definitely will return again

Absolutely brilliant service and good quality food and service

So glad Crowns has reopened. Went as part of a small group for lunch. Food was delicious and service was spot on, with SD measures appropriately applied to make staff and customers feel safe. I feel they'd benefit from an outdoor seating area with umbrellas, there's so much free space to do so!

Great food, nice people and right next to a really interesting and engaging museum, what else could you ask for. Well worth a visit for coffee and cake or something more substantial.

A somewhat limited menu, although we did visit mid-afternoon following a visit to the museum. Quality of the food was good, generous portions and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This cafe is within the REME Museum complex,after having a good look around the Museum we popped in here for a cup of tea and a bite to eat it’s a nice little cafe with quite a good selection of cakes biscuits and other bites on the menu,it is kept spotlessly clean with a good service....there is also an outdoor seating area complete with helicopter not flyable and small play place for the younger one's..with easy access and plenty of parking making it a great place to visit...👍

I was passing Lyneham a few weeks ago and having been based there thought I'd pop in and recce the museum to see if its worth taking my family. The staff were very inviting and allowed me to have a quick look around. It brought back many memories of when this was the Officers Mess. I thought I'd grab a quick coffee for the trip home and ended up speaking to the lovely Amy for quite some time. Pleasant, well educated and lovely customer service. It was a really nice way to round off what turned out to be quite an emotional but short visit. All the best for the future Amy; you have a bright future ahead! Family visiting from Australia so we just had to visit the REME Museum & the CROWNS Cafe. It was so interesting in the Museum, very enlightening & incredibly informative. To top off our visit was a lovely cuppa & panini in Crowns Cafe.

An absolutely splendid place to visit. Part of the REME Museum, offers delicious and very reasonably priced food and drink. Staff are lovely and the cafe has a real family feel to it. Overall, well worth visiting (the museum too!).

Had a nice lunch while visiting the museum. Large portions and good value for money. The kids lunch box was good.

The Reme museum was excellent, I recommend that. We then visited the cafe next to it...Not much choice, even less for vegans and vegetarians. So I ordered a bowl of chips for £3.50. Then this piddly little bowl of chips came out. Imagine paying £3.50 for 28 chips. 12.5p per chip.

Really liked this cafe. Really tasty food, simply presented, reasonable choice and at a good price. Plenty of nibbles as well if you don't want a full meal.

We ordered some coffee and paid with Scottish £10, which was refused until I insisted it was legal tender, we were then undercharged and asked to pay the difference from our change. I found the person on the till was rude and unhelpful and not at all what should be encountered, she also seemed to be training someone in a bossy and unhelpful manner!

Considering the price I was expecting the usual sandwich box you get from visitor attractions but the food in them was amazing quality! Really fresh bread, proper ham and a good choice of extras! I had a wrap and it was lovely! I couldn't believe the quality for the price! Really friendly and helpful guy on the till, was patient with the kids even though I was frazzled!

Hard to grade from a single visit for a coffee and bun. It was late afternoon and I was one of four other customers. Pleasant, clean and airy environment and friendly service. The americano coffee was really good.

We decided to visit after the good reviews. It certainly was worth going. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious too.

Met a friend here, she’d been quite a few times before and had always said how lovely it was. We started on coffee/tea and soon followed by having lunch. We both had Quiche, chips and salad it didn’t even cost £6! So your never sure what your going to get, and what will it taste like for that price. Well there is NOTHING to fear here, it was DELICIOUS! The quiche was delicious! They could charge double, but they don’t. It’s so nice to go somewhere casual for a coffee or lunch etc and be in nice clean surroundings! I honestly couldn’t fault it. I will definitely be back, IF they were open on a Sunday morning for an English breakfast we’d be there!

Lovely place to grab a coffee or eat lunch. I highly reccomend the fish finger sandwich and the range of tray bakes. It is great to see it busy, and they manage to always keep it clean and deliver with great service.

This is a handy place for a group to meet up in Lyneham. Fairly spacious venue next to the REME museum. Various items on lunch menu which are tasty and reasonably priced.

This cafe is in the REME museum but the food is as good as any cafe. Tables for meals. Soft comfortable seats for coffee . The surroundings give time for thought.

I visited this place for the second time yesterday - it's tucked away inside the RAF base at Lyneham, or to be more specific it's in the fantastic REME museum. The food here is SO good - the menu is surprisingly varied and for each meat dish there's at least one veggie option available. The side salads that come with many of the dishes are really fresh and tasty too. And the prices are extremely affordable - to get anything like this quality and quantity in a pub you'd have to pay at least double what you pay in the Crowns Café.

Crowns Cafe is my favourite Cafe in Lyneham. We often visit the Cafe for a late breakfast, as a team, during the working week. Always friendly staff and a high quality of all food available.

Probably the most dreadful jacket I've had in a while! Including family also complaining about Wiltshire ham what led to a negative response from the staff. The mocha was really nice though so that was a plus

Fabulous menu, very high standard.

A frequent user of the cafe, the coffee is perfect and at a good price. The food is scrumptious and cooked fresh, homemade sausage rolls are to die for. The side dishes are a tad on the expensive side (chips etc) however there quality and taste is equal to the cost

On visiting the REME museum we had a delicious lunch in this cafe. Staff were very friendly and the cafe was spotlessly clean and comfortable.

Three of us popped in for lunch after a visit to the Museum, It was so nice and a refreshing surprise to see homemade cakes and good quality sandwiches on offer, not like all the normal boring high street chains, there was a specials board that you could tell were homemade and really fresh. we will be back, just wish you were nearer

Used this cafe while visiting the REME musuem but can be used by anyone. The staff were very welcoming taking time to chat. We tried a light lunch which was well presented and tasty. We will go again even if we are not visiting the museum.

Came as a group of ten. Half of us got served while the other half had to wait until after another group that were in the queue after had been fed. Over priced for the quality and awful service.

The Crowns Cafe is within the REME Museum in Lyneham and does fantastic lunches, sandwiches and cakes. A great place to go for a sit down and a chat (and of course there's no cost of going to the cafe).

Lovely cafe with homemade foods. There’s comfy chesterfield sofas if you’re stopping just for a coffee and tables for those wishing to dine. There are plenty of high chairs available and I’m yet to see one dirty like so many other places! Well designed and decorated to maintain elements of the old officers mess yet modern to link in with the REME museum.

Food is awesome :) and the staff are really friendly, quick service too. I had a breakfast and it was great value, really good quality ingredients. Would defiantly come again.
