If you’ve never tried hotpot, you absolutely need to come here. You pick your broth flavour and all your meat, veggies, noodles, dumplings etc. I highly recommend the pork bone broth! It is so so nice! I love the handmade noodles, the prawn mash, the Japanese sausages, the beef meatballs and the crispy fried pork belly! Not only is the food so tasty, the service is lovely as well. It’s not just dinner but a fun and unique experience and such a nice date night. If you love Asian food, this place is for you!

I came here with boyfriend, his three housemates and their girlfriends for an experience of a lifetime. I was a little unsure of what to expect from Crown Hotpot when I first heard the name of our destination yesterday evening. The only hotpot I had ever heard of was Betty's famous hotpot from Coronation Street. However, having been in London's Chinatown at the weekend, I noticed a lot of restaurants are called Hotpot which made me think a hotpot is quite a traditional dish/way of eating. I suppose I was correct. We got to the restaurant via a supermarket which was quite cool. The definition of a hidden gem, it seems. We were seated at a round table which reminded me a lot of BBC One's The Traitors. I was relieved at the round table arrangement. As a general rule, I disapprove of sitting at long tables when in a group of greater than 5. There is a really wide ranging menu which was at first overwhelming. I was glad I wasn't alone and took a backseat when ordering, contributing coriander to the order. The lady serving gave some general guidance to help us order, making sure we got the best out of our very first hotpot experience. After ordering, we went downstairs to create our sauce. I thought this was a fantastic opportunity. It is rare that restaurants give their customers so much autonomy. The last time I was able to express myself this creatively at a restaurant was at Pizza Hut's ice cream factory in 2009. Predictably, I invented an excellent sauce complete with sesame seeds, salt, soy sauce, oyster sauce, satay sauce and lots and lots of coriander. I even added MSG or whatever it is called. For extra flavouring. Soon after creating the sauce, the broth arrived. We ordered two types of broth (or should I call them soup bases?) which were brought to a boil in the centre of the table. We ordered a normal one and a spicy one which I barely touched because I can handle lots of things, but I can't handle spice. Then our food arrived: we had ordered lamb and pork slices, dumplings, cow stomach (my favourite), broccoli, cucumber and lots of coriander. As the broth began to boil, we were tasked with putting our food in and cooking it ourselves which was a remarkable experience. Once or twice I admit I went too early and fished a dumpling out prematurely, only to be greeted with an icy bite at the centre. But this wasn't a problem. Mostly we cooked everything to perfection and were regularly given guidance by the helpful, friendly staff. The food was delicious and it was such a memorable experience cooking it ourselves. I would love to come again. It worked out at about 15 pound each which I thought was excellent value for money. Fantastic.

This amazing restaurant is hidden above a Chinese supermarket opposite the University in Leeds. My brother and I visited here 18/04/24. Never had a Chinese hot pot before, and felt a bit intimidated by the vast menu of what to have. I have to say the guy that served us was brilliant! He went through everything with us… what to do, how to do it, recommending this and that. Completely attentive. In summary, you order a soup base, and then things to cook in it. Really good fun and delicious. Not the cheapest place to have a Chinese meal, but I thought the £71 we paid was well worth it. Would definitely recommend

Rice overcooked. Barely any curry sauce chips tasted like fish. There's better chineses in the town.
