Crown Hotel Wetheral in Carlisle

Called into bar for lunch, unfortunately the food was DISGUSTING. Service was very slow, Needless to say we won’t be back

Really disappointed with my stay here. Booked two nights. The location was perfect for what I needed as I was competing localtl but the service of the hotel really let it down. On checking in, I was informed that breakfast was at 0800hrs and I had to leave before then so asked if I could get in slightly earlier to even have some cereal and tea/toast but was told no. There was no come in go. I attended dinner in the bar that evening and my meal really wasn't that good and I was waiting for the server to come and aks me if everything was ok so I could tell her it wasn't. Needless to say no one came near me at all and I sat there for at least 30 to 40mins. I decided to attend the bar and explained this to the member of staff who just dismissed me. I thereafter attended at the reception to tell staff how annoyed I was and asked to speak to a manager who wasn't available but I was informed someone would contact me. I had no further contact with anyone at all until I checked out two days later and managed to speak with a manager and expressed my concerns. On speaking with the manager she was very understanding and refunded me two breakfasts and took my email and advised someone would be in touch to maybe possibly offer me something as a goodwill gesture. But disappointly no one has been in touch evern after I contacted the hotel by email. The hotel itself is in a lovely location and was of a decent standard but the service i received sadly let it down which is disappointing as I was hoping to return here in April

Fabulous hotel in a great location. The spa area is lovely. The twin room was fine. The only drawback for us was that the beds are small and pillows uncomfortable, and the bathroom light is very bright and noisy as it's right next to the bedheads. My friend gets up in the night, and the light brightness and noise woke me up. This will not stop me from staying again, though. Great location, friendly staff. Top marks.

Great service by staff. Very helpful. Thanks to Beppe and Mateo for help at breakfast. And Adam for a chat. Felt well looked after. Stayed with a dog so unfortunately only in standard room. It is a 3 star room. The shredded towel was indeed replaced at once. Wish we could stay in better accommodation with our dog. Pool and saunas ok. If it wasn't for the rooms, it would be a good 4 stars.

(Festive) Afternoon tea is to be avoided! What was presented was nothing like the picture advertisement. The scones were dark brown, like bullets and served with left over ‘pigs in blankets’ on same plate??? The cakes were all brought-in, nothing fresh and ‘egg nog’ , we were told, was served in a dish for ‘dipping’ ??? It was all truly awful and served without any care, on what was supposed to be a Christmas treat. Why do hotels do this??? We will not go back for any food again and we are local. One star is too many.

We had our Christmas Day lunch here but the service was very slow waiting over 1 hour for our main course which unfortunately was cold when it appeared

My previous review seems to of been deleted. Kim was AMAZING...the food definitely not 4star. Pie very very dry...heard other people complaining- had to order extra gravy. Breakfast, no one around to take our order, nothing personalised for food, considering it was a 4 star hotel. Had to help ourselves???.

It is a pleasant surprise to find such a beautiful hotel in such an unexpected location. Very nice hotel and complete with everything you need, beautifully furnished and very good soundproofing. Great restaurant, cuisine and service at TOP. Unfortunately, I haven't used the spa, but I promise I'll do it soon.

Not very comfy. No air conditioning. Windows do not open… not the best. Would not recommend

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Crown Hotel in Wetheral.Our room was modern and finished to a high standard although the two flights of stairs were a little difficult when handling heavy luggage. We will definitely look to stay here again on our next visit to Carlisle.

This hotel was idyllic in every way.

Best hotel out of the city limits and in the outskirts of Carlisle. Lovely atmosphere. Peaceful and quite place. Sufficient parking space and lovely courteous staff members. Highly recommend.

We had a wedding day experience three weeks ago. Have a good look around, there are many wedding venues in the area.

Windows were filthy!!! Service at check in was slow and they forgot my pudding in the evening.

I stayed at the Crown in 2019 over Christmas and I remembered it was first class. My visit this week for a five night stay was just as good as I hoped it would be. The breakfasts are first class. The evening dining absolutely delicious. The rooms are roomy, the bed super comfy, the gym and swimming pools are wonderful and easy to navigate. And in addition to all that the team at the Crown, whether at reception, in housekeeping, at the gym, at breakfast, at dinner or in the bar are absolutely first class - nothing is ever too much trouble, they work so hard and with a real commitment to their guests that I didn't think existed any more! Literally ever single member of the Crown team are wonderful and caring and I couldn't say thank you enough - you made our stay so comfortable and we felt so taken care of, at a very difficult time. Thank you. We will be back.
