Crown Carvery The Britania Inn in Liverpool

Could do with a lick of paint and a hoover. Not the best welcome when you walk in and staff standing around and chef shouting at people to take orders. Menu different so carvery plus pizza, burgers, range of starters so choice better than a standard Toby Carvery. Sandwiches ok, decent amount of meat. No gravy ! Roasties lukewarm, anemic but cooked - no crispness. Ordered via the app and quick to cook. Has a river view so maybe better than in the summer than a grey / misty November lunchtime. Probably the cheapest restaurant in the area

Phil’s food was lovely I would recommend visiting the Britannia pub for a nice night you’ll enjoy your food and drinks especially the stuffed crusted pepperoni pizza

Came for food this weekend an it was absolutely amazing the tandoori chicken pizza is delicious. Definitely recommend.

Got to pub for 5.10 pm and no carvery left only vegetable s only a bit of turkey and pudding took over half an hour wait wasn't happy with food or delayed deserts

In typical British weather it was pouring down with rain. My mum and I were looking for somewhere to get out and have a bite. My mum said she'd wanted to come for some time as we used to pass often when I was younger. We were greeted by super friendly staff who managed to make a table for us despite not having a reservation. Some really excellent choices, we had a hard time choosing! Food was lovely. Atmosphere was great. Staff were friendly and helpful without being overbearing! Really enjoyed our meal there and mum has asked if we can go again in a few weeks! Lovely spot with great views. Couldn't of asked for better.

Booked 6 weeks prior to the day family of 8 table was not reserved correctly it was 2 tables of 4 after complaining we were moved to a table of 10 wah hay they did have a big table although cavery was there we were told when we ordered the food that there was no more carvery on Sunday afternoon none left at 3pm although this pub is well known for their carvery so although disappointing we proceeded to order of the menu when the food came one meal was very cold fish an chips so it was given back to staff she took it away and was to bring another when that came the fish was freezing that was also given back to staff they then proceeded to give the cash back for the one meal and said we could have complimentary dessert omg will never go back there the birthday party was well and truly ruined

Is this place about to shut down? That's what it looks like. Drove there today from miles away,should have read reviews first. Car park was filthy, rubbish everywhere and bins overflowing. Windows inside and out were absolutely filthy and yes I know it's next to the river but this was greasy handprints etc. The carpet stunk,the whole place was minging. No one to greet you or tell you how to order. Found a table, chair seats looked filthy. Got a drink and decided to leave as quickly as possible. Just put off ordering food by the state of the place, so grubby. It was absolutely dire,I suggest avoiding this place.

Service was terrible ordered 3 canary meals 3 burger meals and two kids nugget meals didn't get the burger meals or nugget meals about an hour so asked for a refund and left. Not recommended to anyone. Regrettable

We arrived on a rainy day and weren't expecting much after a day of travelling but Josie was fantastic in looking after us and recommended food for us to order

First time eating outside here in the glorious weather today. Wasn’t told it would be served like a takeaway meal in a small cardboard like pizza box for gammon egg and chips. But worse I was told they had no forks and was given just a wooden knife to eat it with. Asked how I was supposed to eat the food with just a wooden knife and the guy I spoke to just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Asked someone else for proper cutlery and got another blank look. Took food outside and returned and just took metal cutlery from bar. Not the greatest service I’ve ever received, bonus was the food was actually lovely.

daughter is neurodivergent, only eating pasta when dining out, limited menu, ordered mac and cheese via via the app only to told no mac and cheese. only pasta dish available was in the kids menu, asked for an equivalent adult menu portion but was told it would cost x2 kids portion despite not requiring kids dessert option. Discussed with manager who was unable to apply discretion and wanted additional money for portion despite not wanting dessert . daughter went without food due to inflexibility of manager. disorganised pub running out of stock options, many dissatisfied customers. will not return.

bland burgers for a start off, worse than a rustlers. atleast rustlers burger has flavour ive been told.... food for me came almost 30 mins before my children then onece the kids where sorted my partner was another 10 mins. so my food got ate by everbody els. nice place to be in just not a nice place too eat no more. it used to be really good.

Worst costumer service I've ever seen! We ordered two burgers and watched our food get put on the side to be served. We waited 10min and went up and asked if that was for our table, the chef replied yes you can take it! Luckily by the time went up to ask it wasn't too cold. There was three plates that where still left on the side for other people, after 20 minutes has passed the waitress came over and the chef said to her that the food had been there for over 20 minutes. She got the food and put it in the microwave and took it to be served. The restaurant was not even busy not that it would make it okay anyway! Will never visit this place again!

What can I say, the staff are very friendly, and the food is just the best. If you are vegetarian than this is the place to go as so many veggie options on the menu, we were spoilt for choice. Situated next to the river Mersey , you couldn't ask for a better view. I can't recommend this place more highly.

Great improvement on our last visit for food. The staff have always been helpful and welcoming so although we had only gone for a drink we decided to stay for dinner. We had fish and chips which were perfectly cooked, with lovely crispy batter. Looking forward to our next visit.

The Sunday roast I’ve ever ever had in my life roasted were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside perfection will definitely return

Three of us came here for lunch on Good Friday. We ordered 3 starters and 3 pizza's and after waiting for 1 hour and 10 minutes, we were told that 2 of the 3 starters were almost ready but the pizza's hadn't yet been put in the oven- unbelievable! There were loads of people complaining and getting refunds, yet the staff were still letting customers come into the waiting area. Never again.

We were both quite disappointed with the food. We ordered the sharing starter of 1lb chicken that included bbq, garlic and also cheese dips. We got 8 chicken dippers, 8 chicken nuggets & 6 small chicken wings that were not salt & pepper as described. The sauces were 3 pots of the same vingerary sauce that tasted like pickle juice! We ordered the fish & chips & burger & chips. All the food was cheap frozen food that had been reheated. The burger was greasy & thin. We got bread & butter with the fish & chips & the butter was 3 days out of date. We highlighted it to a staff member who agreed it was disgusting & was very apologetic. They offered us free drinks but the pepsi max was flat too. The staff were lovely & friendly but it was dirty & the food was below average.

Avoid, the place was dirty and food was awful. We had the carvery roast potatoes tasted like they had been reheated and were like rubber. Cauli was mush green beans dried up an gravy like water and tasteless

On our way in, we were warned by other customers that the food was inedible, completely dried out. Before we paid for food, we checked at the carvery. I can't actually believe that any eatery would dare leave food out that locked like this did. The gammon and turkey were completely dry and inedible and had sat tgere for hours. The veg was dry & crusty, especially the green beans and peas. The potatoes were barely cooked, but still managed to be dried out. The beans.......well, Ii tried to lift them out with the serving spoon...they wouldn't budge! I asked the chef why everything was so bad.....short on staff apparently. I've been visiting here for years, sadly, not anymore, what a shame

This pub which has so much potential needs a D61 Dozer going straight through it and leveling it . It must be the wirst pub in the North west. Never have what drinks you want. Today not a pump is working and you have a choice of 3 bottles 1 of which is alcohol free . Someone needs to take this venue over . Or just knock it down . It's terrible don't come here . Food crap too .

Visited here with family waited 20 minutes at the bar to order drinks and food. Three of us opted for standard carvery waited 10 minutes to be served at carvery no one seemed to want to serve us!! The lady who served us at the bar arrives to serve meat she apologised got the veg stone cold gravy stone cold this has to be the worse carvery i have eaten. Service no existant who ever is running this place needs to up their game whole experience was terrible. This is basic stuff if you cant get this right?? Maybe a change of career might be wise.

Fantastic service and great food. The offers are well worth downloading the app for. Had a carvery and the chef Alex was polite and entertaining. The meat was succulent and the veg fresh and hot. Served at the bar by Theo with a smile and good banter. They do only allow dogs outside and not inside, but as it is an open carvery I can see why.

Visited the Britannia inn this afternoon, what a lovely place. The view was amazing even on a rainy cloudy day. We had the 2 course meal deal which included the carvery. The food was delicious. The manager Jo was lovely and all the staff were attentive and really friendly. Can't wait to bring my family back again

Gorgeous carvery, the meat was perfect and there was plenty of choice of veg, sauces and delicious gravy. It was all hot and fresh!

Visited this place for the first time for a Sunday lunch. It was very busy when we arrived so we were glad we booked in advance. Food and drinks are ordered by scanning a QR code on the table, then ordering through your phone. Despite being busy, the service was quite quick, and the carvery wasn't bad. The meat was cut a bit too thin for my liking, but was otherwise ok. The prices were also reasonable, so a decent place to visit, and I think we'll be visiting again when we're in area.

Went for a birthday and we all got a 2 course lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, value for money, apple pie is lovely. Staff were great, amazing views.

Had pre booked a table for 6 at lunchtime. Arrived and no table reservation...luckily not that busy so a table available, however not sure what would have happened if there had been no tables available, the person I spoke to on arrival I found quite abrupt not even an apology that there was no table reserved... We had travelled from Stoke on Trent to take our grandchildren out for a pre Christmas lunch Lunch itself ...3 of us had carvery which was adequate but found the veg to be just lukewarm the other meals of chicken burgers were also ok. Not sure if they were understaffed but having frequented in the past was really disappointed this time.

We booked a table for 3-30 today 29th October, son had checked if dog friendly on website, it was. We arrived only to be told my son couldn't take his small dog inside but we could eat outside. We decided to take a chance as the weather looked changeable. My wife got the meat free carvery, my son & I the standard carvery. Upon commencing to eat it was obvious that the meat & gravy was at best luke warm but peas, potatoes, cauliflower cheese, beans were mostly stone cold on all three plates. We were all disgusted with the seriously poor quality of the food on our plates & can say without reservation we will not be returning in the future. Sincerely yours Jones Family

Decided to visit after work with a few friends on a Tuesday evening at 6pm. I decided I'd go for the carvery to keep up with a diet and was looking forward to some lovely fresh veg. However I was shocked to see meat looked like it had been out since 8am with very little left. What was available was dry and fatty. And as for the vegetables I was close to asking for a glass of hot water to try and put some liquid back into them. I then had the bright idea of extra gravy.... But once again hardly any gravy left and what they did have had so much skin over the top so had been left out a long time. Never have I had such a bad carvery. A friend had pizza and said it was reasonable. But I definitely will not be returning in the future and i would not recommend this place to anyone

I ordered a delivery this morning via uber eats app as both myself and my partner are currently under the wheather and thought it would be nice to get a hot delicious breakfast but was met with hell !!!!!! when I received my delivery it was thrown in a paper bag side on witch spilled out slightly and when I was given my coffee I orderd i noticed that their was only 1 meaning 1 was missing and the one I received was only half a cup of brown watery substance totally tasteless and disgusting the breakfast was a complete and utter disgrace every think was cold and rubbery over cooked eggs no beans soggy bread you should be ashamed sending poor quality food out I have ordered from.here on a number of occasions and I am totally discusted with what I received I was also.told to call the restaurant by the delivery driver and when I called the restaurant no.one picks up sort it out Brittania this is totally unacceptable

Outdoor serving hatch appears to be permanently closed. Went inside to order drinks, queue started at the entrance. Waited over 30 minutes to get served 2 pints of larger in a plastic cup. 2 bar members serving drinks with one designated to serving orders from those seated inside the restaurant. Clearly understaffed (same issue on previous visits) I won’t be wasting my time visiting this place again. Get your act together and sort the place out!!

Visit for breakfast on a weekday morning (It's cheaper and less busy) for a relaxing all you can eat Full English breakfast with the best free view of the Mersey. Free parking which is also a bonus and you can have a lovely walk along Otterspool Promenade. Don't expect a choice., Full English with tea or coffee is what they do.

Great views and great value all you can eat breakfast with refillable tea and coffee. Watch life on the River Mersey as you munch and sip. Breakfast is from 9am
