Crown Bar & Bistro in Lancaster

Went for a Sunday lunch and was really impressed. I had the lamb and my wife had the beef and both meats were tender and cooked perfectly. The potatoes and sides were nice with plenty of tasty gravy. The Yorkshire pudding was great too. All homemade to a high standard. Normally it can be hit or miss when you go out for a Sunday dinner but the Crown is a definite hit. They also serve a range of starters and other mains and I could only hear positive comments from other people. The service was attentive and friendly with a relaxed atmosphere and the prices are really reasonable. I highly recommend the Crown and we will definitely be back for another visit.

Went for lunch and loved it. Such wonderful staff and value for money. Just a terrific meal. The boys loved the black pudding eith mustard sauce and mash plus bacon followed by roast beef and then crumble. My less gluttony soup ( home made and delicious ) and roast turkey was fantastic. Another lovely meal here tonight for our wedding anniversary. The food is cooked fresh and is delicious plus the value is great , £19 for a good piece of rib eye with real chips you’ll pay much more than that in a “chain” pub. The staff are great too The Crown is one of the best places to eat in Morecambe.

For somewhere so expensive and ‘posh’ I think it’s overpriced and actually serving you cheap stuff. Heinz sauce bottles refilled with cheap off brand sauce. For the price you pay you’d think you’d at-least get proper condiments. Imagine if someone had an allergy? Double choc cookie dough pie was literally choc chip cake. Taste like what we make for kids at home. Wouldn’t come again 😂

We visited The Crown at 6.15pm on the last Friday in October. We were invited in, seated at one of several empty tables (the venue was perhaps 60-70 per cent full), given menus and left for ten minutes to choose our dishes. Then we were approached by a staff member and told we had to leave because this table was booked from 7pm. Coincidentally, the handful of other empty four-seater tables were also all booked for the same time. Had we been asked to simply order a main course and leave by 7pm, we'd have been happy to comply. Had we been offered a takeaway instead, we'd have taken it. Had the staff at The Crown made any effort to accommodate us, we'd have been genuinely grateful. Instead, we were welcomed in and then shooed out of the premises with some desultory apologies, while everyone else stared at us. Don't even attempt a walk-in at this venue.

Good value for the price I paid. Clean and warm. The housekeeping staff were pleasant and the room was serviced daily. I agree with what other reviewers have said regarding the lack of privacy at the window and the need to keep the curtains closed. The wi-fi was spot on. Meals are not provided every day and then only at set times, I didn't eat there so can't comment on the food. The location is fairly good, right on the promenade and within easy walking distance of the transport hubs. I wouldn't recommend this property to anyone accessing the Eden North site. It would be helpful to take a long extension cable and the hairdryer could then be used in front of the mirror. There appears to be some sort of fault on the heating system which bangs loudly under the floor when it switches on (room 8). The owner didn't know about this.

Lunch out. First visit to The Crown. The £9.00 Menu is good value and quite varied. The setting if you are sat at the window, it has nice views over the beach and the bay. The dining area is quite small and therefore quite noisy, its difficult to have a conversation with fellow diners . Staff are attentive and obliging. The toilets are in the basement and not the easiest to get too, especially if you have any mobility issues.

Thank you for a lovely meal and a warm welcome after a long journey. Delicious food and a reasonable price.

This was our first visit to this bistro and was delighted both with the excellent food and brilliant service from all the staff. The bistro was spotlessly clean and the staff very attentive and would definitely recommend to friends and family for a wonderful dining experience. We will certainly be making a return visit. Awful customer service! Turned up with a small dog understanding that we would have to sit outside. There were empty tables outside so this wasnt a problem. I walked into the restaurant bar area to see a table of 8/10 persons finishing their lunch and 3 other tables of 2 and 4 persons in a similar stage of eating. There were a number of empty tables. Two female bar staff were both stood chatting behind the bar (not busy). I asked if we could order food and that we had a small dog. I was told that it would have to be outside (obviously). She then went into the kitchen to ask the chef if he would cook for 2 persons. On her return her answer was "sorry we cant serve you food" Being 1330hrs and having empty tables in the restaurant I can only assume the chef could not cope with the work load. Manage your staff or loose customers!

Arrived hoping for a meal but they were fully booked which is fair enough on sunny Sunday lunchtime. Asked if we could purchase 2 drinks to take outside to one of the two free tables. The first waitress said yes that would be ok and directed me to order at the bar. When I arrived at the bar, the woman told me that they were too busy to serve me and said she couldn’t provide drinks. Never known any pub turn away paying customers at the bar when all they had to do was pour the drinks, take payment and collect/wash the used glasses after we’d finished. We won’t be back.

We stayed at the Crown for two nights and we couldn't recommend it more. The staff are the friendliest people that you could wish to meet and the food is excellent value for money. The room that we had was fantastic with the best sea views that you could wish for. We will definitely stay here again when we are next in that area. Thank you to all the staff

We had tried to get in before on spec but the Crown was fully booked. We booked for today and now know why. The £9 lunch menu is copious in its choice and in the helpings. The staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful. Given the weather it was a bonus to have the air con. We will definitely be back.

This is Morecambe’s busiest restaurant! All the food is home made and consistently excellent! You do need to book, closed on Mondays !

A planned day trip to Morecambe with friends on 21st May dictated that I find somewhere central for Sunday lunch. Reading impressive reviews of The Crown, I booked a table without hesitation. We were not disappointed after ordering the Roast Beef with all the trimmings. We all commented on the quality of the meal and the generous portions. Good value and served by friendly, efficient staff too. We look forward to returning on a future visit.

Hubby and I made reservations for Friday night--a necessity in these Covid times as space is limited. There was a 50th birthday party at one end by the bar and we sat at the other end by the window, which kept the noise abated a bit. The bar is very nice and the owner is delightful, I had a very long chat with him over a beer.The rooms are very basic and in need of an upgrade. The most disappointing thing was there was one ironing board and iron for the whole property. I tried calling from 7:15 to 9:10am to find out where the iron was but the call went straight to voice mail and I ended up having no ironed shirt for my morning meeting which is dreadful. If anything serious was to go wrong then you would be in big trouble. Very disappointed.

Four of us had another delicious meal at the crown, I cannot fault this place, all our steaks were cooked to how we wanted them, the stilton sauce went perfect with them and the chips are proper chips not frozen! The staff are lovely and attentive and came round regular to make sure we didnt need anything and were happy, well done ladies we will all definitely be returning on a regular basis and compliments to the chef your a star!

Eaten here a number of times, twice on a weekly basis and can’t be more complementary of the New chef and menu And fabulous service. Steaks are consistently perfect- rump fillet was a new cut for me, don’t know why I’d never come across it before- delicious and cut to order!! Pate is the best I’ve ever had and great selection of wines and draught. the roast is huge And well priced. Definitely the best food and service in the area!

We had the most fabulous dining experience last Friday. The food was delicious and inventive. It was difficult to know what to choose as all the dishes sounded amazing. We went for the Duck which was sooo tasty and beautifully presented. This is going to be a firm favourite of ours and we will be dining at The Crown again this week for sure. Called in for lunch between Christmas and New Year. The place was busy and we were warned that they had run out of lots of dishes. We ordered two plaice and chips and one chicken kebab. As it was they then ran out of the fish and chips and we had to all have the kebab. It turned out to be a great substitute as it was delicious! And the young 19 year old manager was brilliant - keeping us constantly informed and even knocking one of the kebabs off the bill. He couldn’t have been more apologetic and showed great customer service. I would happily go again - Norman’s special sauce was fab!!!

We were in Morecombe on a Monday on business and we struggled to find restaurants that were open for lunch. We happened upon this small hotel bar which is ideally positioned opposite the seafront with wonderful views of Morecambe Bay and beyond. The interior was much more modern than we expected it had obviously been recently renovated to a high standard.We chose from the lunch menu, I had beef bourguignon and my partner had plaice goujons and chips. My dish was excellent, the plaice was okay for the price. The service was excellent.
