This hotel is disgusting. Absolutely filthy. Certainly not what is advertised, which shows photos from 2015! So they have let the place rot since. The bathroom was filthy, thick grime, marked walls, hot water from both taps. Filthy carpets, cracked windows, curtains hanging off. Headboard was filthy, stained sheets and bed that stunk. Stains on every wall, door, surface. Tv didn't work. It is appalling. Environmental health contacted.

Beer - OK, but not as nice as round the corner with the same beer, Atlantic IPA Service - without a smile, in fact barely even a word! Food - Dreadful - If you like your food cooked the day before then nuked in a microwave until the heat of the sun & as dry as the Sahara then you are in luck, come on in! I had the bangers & mash with Jus (posh name for thin gravy and a warning that you only get a thimble full of it). The Jus, as mentioned was tasty but I could have done with twice the amount, the mash, again was sparse but ok. However the sausages, although tasty (and very peppery which was fine for me but may take others by surprise) in part other parts were dry and hard. A sure sign of something being microwaved for too long. The look of them showed signs of them being pre-cooked and left to stand, both of them wrinkly & quite unappealing. The other obvious microwave alarm bell rang when I was 'served' my bowl of food after around 4 minutes of ordering. Maybe I should have guessed by the fact the bar was relatively busy however I was the only one eating! The bowl was brought to me and put in front of me without the staff member even looking at me let alone granting any vocal acknowledgement or an offer of condiments. Same again when the bowl was collected, no eye contact nor question about whether or not I enjoyed my meal. Time to drink up and find a more friendly establishment.

I have visited this pub once before, on the recommendation of a work colleague, and it was a memorable experience. So it was a no-brainer that when I was next in the area I would seek to revisit this venue. That opportunity arose when another colleague and I finished exhibiting at an event recently at the nearby Olympia exhibition centre. Though this pub is a couple of blocks away from Olympia, it proved to be worth the trek, and was a welcome alternative to our usual watering hole, The Beaconsfield, which is just opposite Olympia (see my separate review on that). The first really positive and noteworthy delight was being offered menus when we ordered our drinks at the bar. This was as good an example of upselling as you are ever likely to see. As a former hospitality manager, I know it works, and in this case it was a welcome invitation that encouraged us to stay for dinner. I was pretty glad we did. The young man who took our order was unusually helpful and efficient. The only snag was that he informed us that the kitchen didn't open until 6pm - this being 5.40pm on a Saturday evening. I did think that a bit odd, though waiting 20 minutes wouldn't have been an issue. Strangely, we didn't have to wait as the food arrived fairly promptly. If the chef made an exception in this case, then I'm very grateful. If not, then it was probably not worth mentioning the opening times. Luckily, the food was nothing short of excellent. Both my colleague and I were pretty much in agreement, and we were impressed by the choice, the quality and the presentation. The menu has a definite Thai influence, which was interestingly mixed with some standard pub favourites (see pictures), so there really was something for everyone. I started with the smoked salmon. I don't know what 'ebiko shrimp roe' or 'ponzu mayo' is, but I can tell you it was extremely good, and an interesting variation on this good old familiar starter (see picture). My colleague's chicken satay starter was also beautifully presented - rather awkwardly served on a chopping board - but I'm told it too was very good indeed (see picture). Mains were cod & chips and pad thai with king prawns. Again, top notch (see pictures). This pub has a very welcoming and homely atmosphere (see pictures) and appears to be a popular meeting place for friends and for families, with the restaurant operation being perhaps what they do best. With the bill coming in at £45 for two, not including drinks, that is pretty good value for the quality of the fare. Watch out for the now habitual 10% 'discretionary' service charge. For this reason, don't add your drinks from the bar onto your tab, as you'll end up paying 10% on those too. Other than that this is a great little place and a valuable discovery for locals and tourists alike and I for one can't wait to return.

We stayed here as we had tickets for the Royal Albert Hall (15 minutes bus ride away) and overall were very pleased. Our room was very large and comfy, massive high ceilings and roomy bathroom, with all the usual extras such as drinks making bits, toiletries etc. There was some confusion after we’d checked in as we decided to eat there before going out and were encouraged to set up a tab, which we assumed we could settle the next day on checkout. Turned out this wasn’t the case (something to do with “head office?!”) and we were asked to settle the dinner bill as soon as we got back from the night out. Wasn’t really a problem but made us a feel a little like we were in the wrong to have potentially “done a runner”, albeit having paid for the room, when we would just have preferred to have paid for it on the night anyway. A bit more explanation on check-in with dos and don’ts might have been nice. The continental buffet breakfast looked OK (just OK) but I think most would probably pay the fiver each for the cooked option, which was very good. One other thing that occurs if you’re eating here. The description of food (Italian, European, Pub, Gastropub, Bar, British) on this page should really include Thai/Asian as well, as a chunk of the menu was very eastern-influenced. One other, other thing, from looking at another review. This was a very well presented pub/restaurant. We could see no signs ot tattiness or damaged furniture. I wonder if one of the other reviewers here went to a different pub..? All in all, highly recommended.

We visited just for a drink and stayed for the food, well located around Olympia and Kensington just round the corner from the Overground station. Very nice cosy pub, good atmosphere. Staff were nice and friendly. Good selection of beers and wines. We both had the Wagyu burger which was delicious and very good value for money especially for the area. Service was prompt and the kitchen is open so you can see it all being prepared. If we are in the area again we will certainly return.

It seems management don't really care about this place or customers either. The seats are torn and ripped to shreds in places, bench seats are a real mess. Lighting needs a good dusting and half the bulbs don't work either. Floor is sticky in places. I guess they presume their location will draw in enough customers without them needing to bother cleaning the place. The dreadful hanging baskets with dire plastic plants outside don't improve the place either, just establish this pub isn't cared for (shame, as lots of other places in this area have lovely fresh plants outside and beautiful baskets too). Our booking was messed up, I reserved a table for 7pm (gave them my phone number and mentioned we were staying there), was told it had been recorded as 6.30pm when we arrived at 7. They took my phone number and knew we were actually staying in a room in the establishment too, so not sure why they didn't bother ringing me, or knocking our door when we hadn't turned up by 6.40pm (if they had expected us at 6.30) another example of them not caring about customers! They didn't even apologise for their error, just told us a large party had turned up so we would have a long wait for our food. As for the food. The chicken satay starter was OK, as expected. Not sure who thinks serving it on a chopping board is impressive, it's not, just messy, unhygienic and makes carrying it hard work for staff too. Nice check back, especially as our waiter was being run ragged due to lack of management foresight and understaffing! He was very helpful, brought us more drinks while we had a long wait for our dinner as well. The Pho was tasty, but beware of the small but extremely spicy chillis served with it. Hubby likes really hot food and is used to chilli challenges but 2 very small slices of the chilli in this Pho made him feel unwell, even when he was eating it! I ordered my steak medium rare, the waiter even came back to our table quite some time after I had ordered to double check I requested medium rare. When it turned up (on yet another ridiculous wooden board) it looked OK. It wasn't until I cut into the steak and discovered it was medium well cooked I realised the cooks error. Unfortunately our waiter was dashing around trying to cope with serving several tables (including one of 25 customers) so we didn't get a check back. I ate a few of the chips, some of the mushrooms and a couple of pieces of steak before giving up on it. The steak was far too overcooked for me. I did try to get the attention of a member of staff but it was so loud in the dining area I don't think anyone would have noticed had I screamed! Photos provided. We gave up waiting for someone to come to our table, then another waiter removed our meals. I pointed out the issue with the steak, he just said 'oh, sorry about that'! We complained about the overcooked steak (had to go to the bar to do so), the charge for it was taken off our bill fortunately. However, the manager then had a go at the waiter for not doing a check back. Not that it would have made much of a difference if he had, I had already been given an overcooked steak! Insulting staff in front of customers is definitely out of order, it wasn't the waiters fault the person the manager employs in the kitchen to cook meals can't cook a steak properly! Overall, not impressed at all. Dirty place, rude Manager (who obviously doesn't care about his staff or customers), expensive food and drinks, poor quality food and it's served on a lump of wood! It's London, there must be lots of places better to eat in than here, and with decent customer service too. I suggest you walk past this place and find one!
