Great pub with fine choice of ales and good veggie / vegan menu. We sat in the extension with great views over the river and port activity. Excellent service too.

This place is totally overpriced. A G&T for £15.50 and a meal for 2 at over £100. Fish & chips were not local but supermarket bought. It’s not in London.

I booked in advance, requested the conservatory so we could dine with a river view and our visit was fabulous from start to finish. Seated immediately, drinks served straight away and menu recommendations & explanations given. The service is excellent, from welcome to departure we felt very looked after. The menu is great and our food was fabulous. Great wine too! I would dine here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Called whilst visiting Kings Lynn, great pub…a warm, friendly welcome and cosy interior. Was initially told they weren’t doing walk ins for food, so just ordered a drink, but then said they could take a food order. We both ordered the Sunday Lunch, one pork one beef, both were delicious, although slightly on the pricey side. Service was top notch, everyone was very friendly, would recommend.

We have eaten here a few times now and although the prices are top end gastro pub we have always enjoyed the food, drinks and atmosphere. Sadly not today though. We had heard great things about Sunday lunch and so booked looking forward to a great autumn roast. All the staff were friendly & attentive and we both enjoyed the tempura prawns starter. Then we waited and waited for our roasts. We had another drink and waited, my partner asked if we’d been forgotten and were assured that it would be ready soon and that they had been checking regularly. It must have been 30-40 mins from finishing our starter to receiving our mains. That would have been instantly forgotten had our meals been hot, they were frankly tepid. The roast pork was missing the crackling and the belly pork part was chewy. The roast beef was also barely warm and there was just one slice of beef, for £24.50 sorry Crown & Mitre that’s a rip off! My partner left much of his meal, and yes we did tell the waitress when we paid that we felt the roasts were ‘very poor and barely warm’.. What went wrong today Crown & Mitre? Were our meals left on the pass whilst other tables were served? Yes you were quite busy but returning local custom is the lifeblood of hospitality and sadly we will think twice before coming back.

We went here for our 47th wedding anniversary with our two best friends. Very disappointed with my food I had monkfish scampi with chips and peas. Fish very tough and chewy would definitely not recommend. Waiter did ask if everything was okay and I told him about mine and he just walked away. Venue is very nice but sadly we will not be going back.

Booked for lunch, reserved online, asking for a table overlooking the river. We had a beer outside while looking at the menu. Selection on menu was seasonal, choice of meats and fish dishes. I had the seafood and prawn curry and my partner the chicken snitzel. We were both pleased with our choices, the food tasted fresh and was beautifully cooked. We will be returning. Thank you

Having heard good things about the venue, I was looking forward to going there with friends. It started badly, no wine glasses behind the bar. Transpires they were upstairs. When we went to the table, 2 out of the 5 mains were not available and half starters were not either. The daily specials were the preferred option of a really limited menu. When the scallops arrived (£11.50 for 3) whilst they were just cooked, they were tiny and all were very varied in size - a number of us had them. No consistency in size at all, and not even 'queen' size, more like 'toddler'. The salmon was main was the same, but nicely cooked. It's annoying when half he table get in essence forced to opting for second or third choices, and then their being evident portion discrepancies, plus little in the way of veg. Other comments from friends were similar in relation to portion control, but the best was that they had 'run out of gravy, so sorry' when it came to the cumberland sausage. Whilst the staff were young and trying hard, the delay on getting the food to table was long - 30 for starters and another 45 between for main. This was topped off by being told at 8.45 that if we wanted desert we had to chose then, as the kitchen closed at 9. The main plates had only just been lifted. We were then told if you want any more drinks, the bar in restaurant was closing and we were welcome to stay but we would have to get our own drinks from downstairs. All a little shocking for somewhere where far more was expected and it left me wondering if the owner was Mr Clayton or whether the cantankerous legend of Roger Duggan had somehow been allowed to remain that night. Disappointed did not cover it.

We had a dreadful experience at this restaurant. Despite booking a table, we were seated at a cramped spot at 7:30, and the neighboring table had to be rearranged for us to fit thank god there was only two of us! By 8:35, we still hadn't received our starters, and table beside had been waiting equally as long for main course prompting us to leave. The service was abysmal, Completely ruined what was supposed to be a pleasant birthday meal.

This was the first visit for most of us. Some of us hadn't been in this pub in many years but it has now been taken over and completely re-vamped. The bar is full of character with lots of shipping paraphernalia, the staff are welcoming and helpful. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food: some had burgers, some ox cheeks and some curries. The desserts were lovely too, although the chocolate tart was a bit too rich for me. We sat upstairs which must be amazing when it isn't dark outside! Our only issues were that it did take a long time for the food to arrive. It was Saturday night and there were quite a few of us, though. Also, because of the design of the place, we had to spread our party over 2 tables which wasn't absolutely ideal. We understood why they had to do it that way but it did make socialising a little awkward. I would definitely go again - actually, I am going again!

We used to frequent this pub years ago and thought it would be great to try out again under new ownership. On arrival we had to wait several minutes to be acknowledged but we're then taken straight to our table and given menus, no drinks were offered. After several more minutes someone arrived to take our order and we had to ask for drinks at the same time as our food. Again we waited an age and when asked about our drinks we were told that the computer had crashed so they hadn't gone through. Given that the new ownership is promoting the venue as a gastropub the food is at best average and not really at the level I would expect given the menu description and prices. Two of us ordered the veal which was chewy and we had to order a replacement potato side as we were told that the chef had spilt the last bag of triple cooked chips over the floor. When we ordered more drinks as the dessert was delivered we again waited forever and had to chase them up. If this pub is going to operate at the level it proclaims in the King's Lynn magazine it has a long way to go.

After visiting the pub for a drink on Saturday 4th Nov. We decided to book for my husband's 70th birthday the following day. Having cancelled our original reservation for a celebratory meal at a nearby hotel. Also on the recommendation of the barman at the Crown and mitre who said 'it is the best roast in town' We booked for about 5.30 as we were told the kitchen closed at 6pm. I explained it would be for Dave's 70th birthday so to reserve a nice table for us. On arrival at 5pm we were told they had run out of roast beef also 'there would probably not be any yorkshire puddings left as the large party they had in would be having the rest' What was left on the menu was at best mediocre quality. I ordered the sour dough bread with curried butter. The bread was toasted to within an inch of it's life and was presented burnt around the edges. I ate some but hurt my mouth as so hard. All they had for main was seabass with a hot salad. I asked for potatoes but 'as the kitchen wad closed they could not offer any' I suspected it hadnt been cooked fresh as it was very dry around the edges.Although we had to wait about 40 minutes for our main courses. I ate it because l was hungry. My husband ordered a seafood curry which wasn't nice so he left half of it. All in all it was such a disappointment. Whilst l understand that they had been busy and maybe not everyone had booked. I do feel that the barman who took the booking, could have warned us that this may happen and we would have gone lunch time. Had he been there l would have said this to him. As it was my husband's birthday meal was ruined 😒

Popped in there with family for Sunday Lunch. Wasn't expecting much from a pub but was very pleasantly surprised. The staff were extremely polite and welcoming. The biggest surprise was the Sunday Roast....pricing seemed a little expensive but matched against going out to a standard restaurant it was probably on par. However, the actual food was sublime. Definitely recommend the Sunday roast and relaxing atmosphere.

Dog friendly unless you’ve a pup who is getting used to people post lockdown and barks a bit. Then you’ll find the landlord may tell you strongly about muzzles while you make polite noises to placate him. You’ve maybe been keeping the nervous dog (a...

Lovely pub with great views of the river in the vinery and a lovely chilled atmosphere. The owners were really nice and friendly. Definitely recommend over the other pubs in the area.

This is not a modern gastropub it is far better - a real old style establishment with a authentic landlord and delicious fresh home cooked food. Plenty of artifacts and other memorabilia to study, all spotlessly clean and an upstairs conservatory overlooking the water makes...

Waitress was pleasant and the view was excellent. Poor quality burger and chips. A mug of black coffee served with a small jug of milk is the answer to a flat white. With an increase in hot drink knowledge and good quality food, this would be a super place to dine.

Excellent lunch as part of Norfolk Restaurant week. Had 3 courses, delicious chicken breast with parsnip purée, fondant potato, cavolo Nero and mushroom sauce. My husband had bream with a Chinese twist. We both had the steamed Guinness sponge pudding with whiskey caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Staff are lovely and very attentive despite a busy restaurant. Have been meaning to visit for ages and it was worth the trip! We will be back.
