Positives were the friendly efficient staff, speed of food preparation and discount available because we were staying in the hotel. Negatives were the rather basic/old-fashioned surroundings and decor and the rather unimaginative menu ( very standard pub fare, mostly with chips).

Lovely pub room was clean tidy just a little bit worn in places needed a little tlc the food was really good ,breakfast was lovely hostess Jack was very helpful easy to talk to and was very engaging parking facilities were good and access to our accomadation was effortless

Really enjoyed our breakfasts here this morning, we were served by a lovely gentleman called Toby I think, A credit to your establishment!! Please change your times on your website as it says you open at 11am!! Toby told us they've been open since 7am for breakfast, definitely need to change it. The food menu was superb and we will definitely be back!!! Thankyou Toby 👍

Staff were friendly and courteous, and the food was good, I particularly liked the no cost swaps on offer. My wife and I both ordered sirloin steak medium rare, but it was cooked medium, we still enjoyed it though. My only real gripe was that they were out of cask ales (it is owned by Marstons brewery), I’d ordered 2 pints of Wainwrights at £5.05 a pint (ordered and paid for on their website) and ended up with a draughty keg beer, not sure how much this was but I’d expect it to be cheaper. All in all we enjoyed our time there and will return in the future.

I was appalled yesterday afternoon that the gravy with an under 5s sausage and mash potato meal was hot enough to cause a scald and blister my 2 year olds son fingers in seconds. I reported it to a lady who said she was the “duty manager” who showed no empathy whatsoever and simply said by law all children’s food has to be served at 75 degrees and made us wait at the bar for a long period of time whilst she attempted to work the computer. The law actually states it should be heated to 75 degrees and kept above 63 degrees for all children’s meals and I strongly suggest something needs to change so that this incident or something worse doesn’t happen again. To add insult to injury, no first aid advice or help other than providing a glass of ice which (we asked for ourselves) was given including no access to a proper running tap for vital first aid was provided. The toilet in the ladies you need to press on repeatedly to get the water to continue which adds another level of difficulty with an upset toddler! The irony of the whole matter was that my friend's adult meal came out cold and her daughter’s under 5s pasta meal was cold enough to immediately eat so the law for some items obviously isn’t being followed. Please consider changing your policies and providing your staff with appropriate knowledge if similar incidents were to happen again or even suggesting to your staff saying “I’m sorry this has happened to you how can I help?” might be nice.

Lovely meal after a long drive. Friendly chatty staff. We booked a room through the marstons page and it said 20% off food. We didn't get any email after we booked but the guy honoured it. Food was well presented. Nice kids options.

Poor quality food. 9 of us ate different meals and all were poor/cold or dry as a bone. Service was not much better as we had to ask 3 times for some brown sauce before we eventually had some brought over.

We used this pub before Christmas for a family meal. We found out it was dog-friendly, which was great for us as we could take our new puppy with us. The food was very good and the service and atmosphere were great. They even had a menu for the dog which we all found amusing, so Marvin got a treat as well.

Stayed for 2 nights. It's a real gem of a place. Friendly helpful staff, excellent food, comfortable rooms.

Stayed overnight, room was spacious, clean, bedding felt brand new and bed was very comfortable. Nice and quiet and would highly recommend.

Lovely breakfast with Santa! Santa was good, really interactive with all the kids. Breakfast was nice too! Very accessible for wheelchair users with no problem at all. All staff were accommodating! Thank you for a great morning!

The meal was exceptional everyone said how good the food was. The staff were all happy and nothing was to much trouble it was really busy but nobody had to wait, the atmosphere of the place was like home from home. We hadn't been before but we definitely will be returning,I've recommended to all my family and friends. I would like to wish all the staff a very happy Christmas and we will see them in the new year.

Had a lovely stay in this hotel. Clean and spotless rooms and bathroom, TV included. Great affordable food and drink. A must for someone in this area.

Had steak & ale pie, it was a gravy pie and there was little meat in it, the pastry was stogy. Also they do not serve proper chips, they are twiglets. Sorry, not proper food like they used to serve. The real ale was off the weekend we went, how can that be? That's why the pub was almost deserted. We won't go there again.

Here for a week for work. Lovely accommodation, comfortable and relaxing. Staff are excellent and attentive. Couldn’t ask for more. Food is of the highest standard and very affordable. Will definitely recommend for future bookings. 10 out of 10 all round.

Walked to here from the truck stop, well worth the walk staff very pleasant food excellent and a nice clean pub with a very warm atmosphere, made to feel very welcome. Came here because the swan opposite the truck stop refused to do food at 19.55 on a Monday night. We went for food and it was amazing, both starters and mains. There wasn't a long wait for the food to come out and it tasted lovely. The pub itself was very clean and the seating was just right as in you are not squashed up. All in all the experience was great

You get a warm welcome as soon as you walk in. Staff look to help you offering meal suggestions and allergy advice. I love coming to this pub as they also allow furry friends, so nice to see.

Wow what an excellent pub this is, visited Saturday night I was served by Katie whome I think is the manager. She was friendly welcoming and very knowledgeable about the menu. I had a lovely mixed grill. My wife had a fish n chips. Both were really good value for money. Will definitely be returning.

A Visit to The Crown I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Crown with my wife, Victoria, who, as many of you know, works in one of London’s leading hospitals. After a long week, we were looking forward to a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and The Crown certainly delivered. The pub’s name may be The Crown, but don’t worry—I can assure you, there's nothing royal about the prices! (Cue the groans). But seriously, the service was excellent, the food hearty, and the ambiance just right. It reminded me of the kind of place my dad, who was a toolmaker, would take me to on weekends when I was young—good, honest, no-nonsense. It’s a place for everyone, whether you’re looking to catch up with friends or simply relax after a busy day. I highly recommend It. Sir Keir Starmer

We have been visiting the crown over the past few years, we travel from the Birmingham area where we meet our friends from Worcester. The meals are very good in deed and would recommend the crown.

The pub Is lovely, service is fast and polite. However, running out of Yorkshire puddings on a Sunday and still letting me order extra isn't up to standard! They'd also ran out of beef! It was only 1330. The size of the portion wasn't big enough either, although what did arrive was very tasty.

Lovely pub. The standard pub food was plentiful, tasty and arrived quickly; plus the staff were friendly and very helpful. Lacked a bit of atmosphere but that’s only because there weren’t many people in that night. It was our first time but won’t be our last, we feel that we’ve found a real gem.

Sunday Lunch with visiting family members in very relaxed, attractive and cosy environment. The food was excellent, reasonably priced, with generous proportions. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely visit again. Highly recommended.
