Cromwells in Malvern Hills

Came here on a Sunday evening. We hadn’t been before but were made to feel very welcome, the lady waitress was very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations. We had the chicken lollipop to start which was lovely chargrilled with a spicy dip. We also had Poppadoms and chutney tray which was delicious as all the dips were nice and thick and not watered down like some indian restaurants. We were presented with hot plates before our mains arrived which were piping hot for us to serve ourselves which we prefer as we like to share. We had lamb gurkhali special and chicken karahi with pilau rice and garlic naan. Both dishes were very tasty. All staff were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed and food was served and presented in adequate time. Would definitely recommend and we will be back!

Ordered and collected different full meals and extras for 5 family members on a Saturday evening. They were all on time, hot, fresh, very tasty, plenty to eat, and we all enjoyed all of the meal. Reasonable and realistic prices. No hesitation in using again. Looked at nice place to eat in too and with car parking !

We have been visiting this Nepalese run restaurant for many years & the food is consistently delicious, no exception this time around. I had the Gurkhali special, fairly hot which I enjoy & totally mouth watering. Service is swift & friendly & as always we had a very enjoyable evening. The restaurant is outside of town so you need transport but well worth a visit.

Ordered a takeaway got to collect at the time given , waited a further 25 mins. Once home and had started plating up realised 2 meals were not what we ordered. Contacted Cromwell and asked for a refund . The lady on the phone was very apologetic and said she should speak to the chef . She then said the chef had said we could either collect it or it would delivered . As 1/2 the family had started eating asked for delivery . It was delivered very quickly . The delivery man was clearly very embarrassed and said he was told to return the incorrect meals. I told him I’d already binned them . The only reason a restaurant would ask for meals to be returned would be if they thought I was lying. We are regular customers and had spent nearly £90 on this one occasion . I asked the delivery guy to wait while I scrapped it out of the bin . Obviously some of the sauce had dropped down the bin bag so I advised if they wanted the rest back they would need to come and collect the whole dirty bin bag !! I emailed the manager asking for the rationale returning the food other than they thought I was being dishonest . The wrong order was not my issue , mistakes can be made but I think this was unreasonable . This afternoon the restaurant called me.You could not make his response up .A very frustrating conversation followed when he told me I was out of order throwing the food out !! I was wasting it and it was expensive AND IT COULD BE USED AGAIN !! That’s why they had asked for it back . I pointed out that he didn’t know me , he couldn’t be confident I hadn’t added something to the food and on a very basic level didn’t know if my kitchen met food hygiene standards .(we have 3 dogs so I would doubt it would !!! ) The conversation was lengthy and I could not get him to understand how inappropriate it would be to use / eat a meal dispatched and then returned . I terminated the conversation when he said if I let him know when we next ordered he would look after me !!! Shame as food is usually very good and staff lovely but I won’t eat from here again as I have no guarantee where the meal may have been / come from

Used to like Cromwell's a lot. I liked it that much I introduced the senior management of the company I worked for to the place. The take away meals were identical to what you got in the restaurant. The last few meals we have had are dire. The chaps who owned the business when it was really good, I have not seen in the restaurant. I think someone else has taken over the business. This last meal didn't taste anywhere how previous meals tasted. I will no longer use this restaurant.

Was supposed to be our Christmas lunch but the restaurant was being greed and had over booked so not able to have our meal even after we had paid deposit and sent our pre order menu . Would never recommend this to anyone

Booked here with my family the place was manic they could not find us a table although we’d booked and paid deposit months before .They had obviously over booked. Very greedy of them booking so many in and not being able to accommodate everyone. Some people waiting two hours for starters others got over charged on the bill by £100. Rude staff will not be returning

We unfortunately booked for Christmas Day here. They had not only overbooked but could not even apologise. We booked for 2:30pm sitting Christmas Day we’re told to come back at 4pm! Came back & still at 4:30 they were unable to seat us! We ended up having to go to another restaurant who treated us very well.Very disappointed-very poor. Thank you for ruining 12 people’s Christmas Day together.

We had a take away from here, in fact several. And each and every meal is perfection. I’ve not one single complaint about the service or the quality and taste of the food. Fantastic. Hardman Family.

Fabulous Nepalese restaurants with the most helpful and pleasant staff. Our young son has a nut allergy yet the staff always remember this and make any dish he wants nut free, gives us confidence as parents. Great menu means we never get tiered of same...

Simply love this restaurant. Staff are so friendly, service is usually excellent and the food hot and tasty. We never have a bad experience and can’t wait to visit again soon.

Ordered food online at 5.15pm and spoke to restaurant at same time for delivery at 7pm . It is now 19.55pm , the food hasn’t arrived , we have called and been told they have only 1 driver , appealing service , do NOT order delivery , bad customer service and they don’t care about putting it right

Yet another great night at Cromwell's, this time celebrating a friends birthday. The food is extremely good, very tasty and with excellent service too. Tandoori lamb chops followed by the Special Tawa, the best combination for a great night of quality food in my opinion, whatever you have, you won't be dissapointed.

What a lovely meal we have had delivered tonight from Cromwells . Everything was very good quality . So refreshing not to have a take away that’s soaked in grease .. instead everything was extremely tasty and high quality ingredients .Staff are very polite and helpful .delivery was excellent .

Cromwell's is the best Indian restaurant we've been to. There is a great selection and we particularly enjoy the Nepalese section of the menu - the lamb Gurkali is incredible! Takeaway is just as good as eating in - plenty of meat in the curries and the food is always hot and full of flavour.

We cycled there on Christmas day so had a real appetite for lunch. It was our first visit to Cromwell's so did not know what to expect apart from reading reviews. The service is excellent, the staff were so friendly and helpful. Covid precautions strictly adhered to.Top quality food, we went for the Nepalese / Indian options, a cold Cobra to quench the thirst, then a warming False Bay red wine.Finished off with brandy Coffee before a chilly ride home to Warndon Villages.Went back for a takeaway on Wednesday and it was just as good.Highly recommend you try Cromwell's as it will be our "Go To" from now on.

We had a stunning 3 course Christmas dinner. The food was very good and we had first class service. We were not rushed and the ambiance was lovely. Thankyou to all staff involved.We have takeaways from Cromwells regularly and have never had a reason to complain.The Harts

Had a takeaway at Cromwell earlier in the week for two, we paid just over £25 for main dishes and naan breads. The food was good, and tasty but not necessarily anything special as such. The food came late but was presentable and neatly packed. I can see why many rate the food as its tasty and flavourful but not necessarily the most flavourful that we've had. In support though of local businesses I'd recommend as an easy option, with good sized portions.

Absolutely the nicest curry in Worcestershire (and possibly the U.K. and that is no exaggeration). The food is such a high quality and the service is friendly and welcoming. Had a lovely chat with the owner about the quality of Nepalese curries in the U.K. and can’t wait to go back! Thoroughly recommended.

Couldn’t fault anything at all with the food and excellent service . The staff are so well presented in their nationality uniforms . Always friendly and very polite - this was our second visit . The menu takes some studying as it’s so different to usual Indian food . It didn’t disappoint at all - a generous amount of prawns in my curry and perfect naan . Four of us loved the spices and staff always happy to adjust the strength to your requirement . The restaurant looks immaculate and everything very clean and coordinated. Will definitely return and recommend to friends.

Ordered food for delivery .. 2 hours late , food luke warm .. chilli chicken was overcooked , butter chicken tasted really odd . Had to ring to chase up food, was told that I should call back to complain if needed once delivered .. expectations managed .

I'm so cross with myself that having lived in St Johns for nearly 20 years, my first visit to Cromwells was only a year or so ago. Since then I've been nowhere else. The food is outstanding, whether eat in or takeaway and the atmosphere for eat in is great.

We have driven past this place so many times over the past few years thinking it was derelict especially when we saw the car wash signs. IT IS OPEN AND AMAZING.After looking on trip advisor we saw it was not only open but recommended so we gave it a try.All we can say is don’t judge a book by its cover.The inside is lovely the staff are fantastic and the food is amazing so much so we have booked again for next Saturday.Ps. It is also great value

I called ahead to book a table and was told the kitchen closed at 10. I was nearby and was confident I’d make it, so confirmed. But I had car troubles. I called at about ten to ten to apologise and explain my delay. They were willing to keep the kitchen open ten more mins for me. I’m glad they were. The food was good, and the service was excellent. Just what I needed after a long day. Highly recommended place. I’ll be back.

Amazing food! I am gluten free and they have the allergens on the menu so you can 100% see what you can eat!! The staff are so lovely and recommend the dishes for you. We will be going back when we pass again!

I have used Cromwells for a few years now and felt compelled to finally write a review after receiving the best customer service i could have hoped for.After ordering a takeaway on a saturday night, we were short delivered - a mistake that can often happen anywhere..... however, when i complained i received the original order again, free of charge.The food at Cromwells is always first class, especially the Nepalese specialities - My wife and I especially like the Chicken tikka Royal Tawa. We had never tasted anything as good before, and we have been to quite a lot of Indian restaurants in our time! :DLastly, my thanks to the waiting staff, who are always pleasant and make you feel very welcome!

We’ve been missing Indian meals during lockdown so we decided to treat ourselves to a takeaway and I have to say, we weren’t disappointed. The samosas were the best we’ve had and they’re made at the restaurant, not bought I’m ready made. Portions were huge and everything was delicious. Can’t wait for the restaurant to reopen so we can go and enjoy a sit down meal.

I have used this Nepalese Restaurant for both eating in and take away, and found every meal that we have had as been faultless, the quality of the food is excellent we had our first takeaway since lock down last Wednesday evening and again found it to be without fault. I would strongly recommend this to anyone who enjoys Quality food.

My daughter wanted takeaway and had been before. We had two Chicken Jalfrezis and a Chicken Tikka Masala. The sauce on all three dishes was very thin. The Jalfrezi also had very few vegetables; 3 or 4 pieces of green pepper, 1 or 2 bits of red pepper and one small piece of green chilli. The 2 pieces of onion were undercooked. My garlic nan appeared to have some garlic on it but had very little taste. The whole experience was a let down and well below expected standards. When you consider the cost of a meal at £8.95, which is twice what I pay for a supermarket Jalfrezi, it was no where near half as good as the supermarket version. This was, without doubt, the worst Jalfrezi I have ever encountered. How people have used terms like, ‘highly recommended’ and ‘quality of food is excellent’ I don’t know. Maybe the chef was off and his assistant was out of his depth. In summary, you pay a lot, don’t get much of a portion and eating it offers no pleasure.

Having ordered a delivery several times, and now back in business after lock down I must say the quality of the food is exceptional. We tend not to visit the restaurant these days due to timings / busy / waiting times, but priase where its due, the food is great.

The food from Cromwell’s is always of high quality. A real variation on the curry theme. Would highly recommend especially with local delivery 🚚

Food's fine, but it's overpriced. Mostly get takeaways, although have eaten in. They used to give 15% off takeaways, but now it's just 10, meaning that our takeaway costs £14 more than an identical meal purchased from a takeaway venue from Malvern. This, combined with an illegal 50p charge for credit card purchases ( which I will shortly be reporting them to trading standards for) means I'll be shopping elsewhere from now on .

Interesting and well prepared food served by very friendly people. I'd recommend trying some of the specific Nepalese dishes.

Have visited Cromwell twice now whilst visiting family in Malvern, the food is beautiful, some of the loveliest I have eaten! Food well presented, very fresh and tasty and service was great. Only criticism I would have would be that the decor/overall appearance of the restaurant needs a little updating as can be a little un-nerving on first impressions.

We visited Saturday 30th November with friends who live in Powick. We have been several times before and have never been disappointed. This time both my wife and I tried different mains and they were both awesome. Mine was one of the best curries I've ever eaten. The staff are always polite and very attentive. I would recommend this place to anyone. Just wish we lived closer as it's quite a journey from Cornwall for a meal !

We regularly pop to Cromwells as a couple or to get a takeaway, staff are always attentive without being over bearing, food is always fantastic, nothing is too much trouble! Husband is trying to keep off the white carbs, so we were recommended the chapatti, absolutely gorgeous! We had a brilliant night out with friends recently, everything top notch! We have taken tables of 20 in and nothing is too much trouble! Never had a bad meal!

My wife and I found this little gem by chance! Absolutely perfect hosts so attentive and courteous and most importantly warm and friendly! The menu had a huge range from traditional Nepalese and Indian to a couple of British favourites for the “play it safes” among us. The food was of such a high standard, full of flavour and portion sizes were very generous (required a take away pack). Has a lovely feel to it with the decor and the gentle home cooked smells coming from the kitchen! This has definitely become our half way meeting point! 100% recommend, also surprise the staff with a little bit of Nepalese, it goes a long way!!

The standard of this Nepalese Restaurant is definitely a cut above those in the city centre. We visited on a Saturday night and the restaurant was packed - which in itself speaks volumes! (Just as well we had booked). The service was amazing considering just how busy the restaurant was! The food arrived in generous portions and there are some interesting and tempting variations on the menu. My Nepalese lamb starter was tasty, but a little bit chewy. The chicken pathia was good, rather than great. Unfortunately the naan was burnt underneath, and my side of mixed veg was rather watery. However, having eaten at so many great Indian restaurants, I am probably more critical than most. You cannot fault the service under pressure, and maybe if we went on a less busy night the food might have been of an even higher standard.

Haven't been for a while. After a recomend a re-visit. Great varied menu offering the normal curry dishes also Nepalese options. The Nepalese Lamb starter excellent and Jalfrezi great. Kathmandu Rice worth having on it's own

This is my go to for a nice takeaway. The Madras is awesome and the Nepalese speciality dishes are great too. Wonderful staff, good for eating in too.

I have lived in Worcester on and off for 30 years and until a few weeks ago never went to Cromwell's, I must have driven past the place many thousands of times. I know a little bit about curry having lived in Birmingham and Mumbai for 10 years. It is without doubt the best Indian Takeaway in Worcester by a long mile.
