Cromwell Place Café in Kensington and Chelsea

One of the worst cafe, I have ever been in London. Rude Staff! They need to learn how to treat customers with respect and kindness. I have been to the most expensive restaurants and cafes in london, but never been treated this way. Me and my friends were not even allowed to take pictures in the cafe. We only went for a coffee but due to no reservation, they treated us so bad and just wanted us to leave the restaurant asap, kept insulting us. Never going to visit again.

The coffees and teas are nice, service is ridiculously terrible. Only came here to review the place on tiktok, but the server was very unattentive, didn’t do any check backs or anything and also kicked us out instead of asking in a nice way, since we were told about 5 minutes before, that the table was booked. The server said something along the lines of “you’ve been here over two hours you need to leave”. Who says that? Us being here is paying your bills

LOVEEE the place food was exquisite 🩷 The only thing that ruined my mood was those asian girls with flashing cameras, I personally didnt want to be in their pictures, i wanted to call the staff but they were annoyed by there behaviour too. Other than that i would 10000% recommend 🩷🩷🩷 Lovely staff 💋💋

The atmosphere and service were excellent, however, the pasta was a bit disappointed and overpriced. I even had a shell cracked in my dish. Overall I think this place only for a coffee and chat, but not for lunch.

I gave full marks for the service and atmosphere because they are truly deserve it - just looking at the stunning window seat, perfect for reflection and enjoying the street view. The vibe is warm and inviting, and the staff serving our table was so stylish and friendly. It’s definitely a great spot for coffee and a light meal. However, I couldn’t give a full 5-star rating for its food - the lunch options are quite limited, and the pasta (both the crab meat one and vegan one) were a bit too salty. I usually enjoy plain pasta with truffle, but this was too salty for me to finish. They came with a quite generous size though. The coffee was decent and up to a reasonable standard.

A very great service, atmosphere, warm and cozy vibe, looked like such a luxury place! But the food, damn, we had a pretty bad experience ordering a loaf - we couldn’t know the price or how it looks. The taste was so bad for its price - £6? Felt like it was waiting for me the whole day. The tea was amazing, but the food and their menu really breaks the experience in parts. Not a lot of positions available for ordering, no menu for desserts, nice place for a tea but no more. There was no sign of the cafe, you clearly can’t get it from the first look - very hidden, on the second floor. Impressions were only on the interior and the tea.

The atmosphere is perfect for studying, working or just chatting with your friends. The interior is really pretty. The teas are really good. However, the food was very ver very bad, definitely not worth its price. The menu didn't have many options as well. The service is slow and the staff is not friendly.

Tucked inside an art gallery and a few mins walk away from South Kensington station, I went to this place to do some reading and try what they had on offer. I went for a simple dessert as I had lunch before coming, thus I opted for a light dessert of Panna cotta and rhubarb. It was silky smooth and very light. I then had the hibiscus tea to pair with it. Fragrant with a slight sweetness. Staff were friendly, polite and attentive. If you’re looking to come here with your devices to do some work, bear in mind they don’t allow the use of devices between lunch time hours. Thus, come after 3pm if you want to do some work

Beautiful interior, staff are super friendly and knowledgable. Great quiet atmosphere for studying, although they do have a no laptops policy after 12 during the lunch rush. Lunch is delicious and portions are a good size!

Excellent hidden gem. The restaurant space is beautiful. Spacious, bright and airy with the style of the building nicely retained. Service was superb and the food from the short menu was excellent. Perfect place for a fresh, light lunch, which is what we enjoyed. Highly recommended.

To be honest, the place is nice, the food is mid, and the service is extremely, extremely terrible. Few of the staff members were polite and welcoming. But the lady that was wearing nonwhite ( I think she is the manager, and it would be a disaster if she was the manager) she was extremely rude, at first I asked her for a seat for one, and then sat at a shared table, I did not like the shared table, so I asked her to move me to a separate table, after I asked her she didn’t say sure I will move you to another table, she started asking why? Then I said to her I wanted a more private table, and she said we don’t have a private table, she was acting like she didn’t understand my request. Then after that, I took my phone to take pictures of the place and she said you're only allowed to take pictures from your table, I said ok, and then she was looking at my phone to see If I was still taking pictures or not, I mean what kind of childish act is that? Two minutes later 2 people in front of me were taking pictures of the place outside their tables and no one told them anything. In the end, I paid my bill and asked for the receipt, after that, I walked out of the place and I heard someone calling me, and guess who she was? Nonother than her of course, she was saying ohh the table is still open you haven’t paid your bill like she was talking to me without asking any of the staff members, she didn’t even make sure I haven’t paid and she was talking to me like I would do this kind of act, what a shame.

What a stunning place and room to spend time in - a hidden gem for me! The host was lovely welcoming us in and the staff were very attentive. Delicious Margaritas and cheese. Highly recommend this place.

We were excited to visit this new, beautifully refurbished cafe and quickly booked a table for our next lunch. The building is stunning, and we looked forward to dining in its elegant main room. However, despite booking a week in advance, we were disappointed to be seated not in the main room but in a corner at a small table with just one chair, right next to a large group of 10-15 people in the middle of a meeting. The setup felt awkward and uncomfortable, making us feel out of place. I asked if we could possibly move to another table in the main room. The hostess said she would check and, meanwhile, another staff member brought us a second chair. We waited by the table for an update, but eventually, I had to follow up with the hostess, who informed us that all other tables were reserved, though I noticed an empty table inside. Resigned, we decided to stay at the original table and make the best of it. When we opened the menu, we found the lunch selection quite limited. We made our choice and ordered, but within minutes, a staff member informed us that our selection was no longer available and offered couple alternative dishes, which didn’t appeal to us. After a quick discussion, we realized that this lunch wasn’t turning out as we had hoped, so we decided to leave. In hindsight, I’m glad we did. We found a fantastic restaurant just a few blocks away with a wonderful atmosphere, excellent food, and warm hospitality. Two stars for the limited menu and overbooking, despite the availability at the time of booking.

Nice interiors, horrendous staff. Got asked to move tables 4/5 times by staff to accommodate other guests. Didn’t get one thank you. They didn’t bring the food we ordered so had a drink and left.

My friends and I had an amazing experience at Cromwell. We really love the Persimmon and Ricotta Cake. The atmosphere was lovely, and it’s very clean too (I’m a germaphobe). In respect of their no photography policy, we enjoyed it because we get to actually converse with each other and appreciate the cafe as it what it is rather coming here for just pictures. (Though I had to take a few pictures of the food cuz it’s so good). Rosie, the waitress, was so lovely and welcoming, very attentive as well. My phone was at 10% and thank god, the staff help me charged the phone for me. I recommend this place to any young adults who are looking for a relaxing place to hang out with friends. Will definitely come back!

A beautiful place, very friendly and professional staff... As for food ... Well it was fresh but for 13 quid I'd expect more than just bread, butter, ham ( although it was lovely) and three gherkins. Coffee was burnt (had a bitter burnt taste). I was contemplating asking to take the service charge off but the serving staff did work hard. Wouldn't come back for the food, only for the atmosphere.

After sharing some concerns about my recent visit to Cromwell Place, I was pleasantly surprised by the manager’s prompt and thoughtful response. They not only addressed the issue but went above and beyond to explain the situation and offer an apology. It’s clear they prioritize customer satisfaction, and I really appreciate the effort they took to make things right. I’m looking forward to returning and enjoying their wonderful cafe. It’s great to see a business that truly values its customers!

Great place, shame about the service lacks class and quality of wines were poor. The staff dropped wine and spoiled our clothes on the day and how it was dealt with was disappointing.

Really gorgeous hidden cafe in south ken area, it’s just stunning inside - staff are courteous too and professional. The only thing I’d say is that their breakfast menu could be a little bigger, although they make up for it with some nice pastries.

Please inform at the time of booking that photography is discouraged and that the store is at risk of theft. My friend lost his wallet in this shop and lost two thousand pounds
