Tonight we both had soup, 1x cullen skink and 1x soup of the day. Both were absolutely delicious, but they could have been hotter. The macaroni cheese was OK, but severely lacking in cheese and a bit bland. The chips were OK, just OK. The staff were helpful and lovely, but when they ask how was it and you say 'just ok' , they smile politely but font really want to know. Overall, maybe 7/10

Fantastic wee pub and restaurant. Food wise I was blown away. The cullin skink was delicious, but the Sea Bass (with charred corn salad and crab sauce) was really something else. A good and interesting selection for vegetarian and vegans as well (my vegetarian partner was also very impressed with her meal). Pub wise, there is a great selection of beers / ales, and spirits. Also, live music sessions....cracking place. Highly recommended!

I spent two evenings and an afternoon in this bar/restaurant a sunny afternoon in the large outdoor seating area and was entertained by some good live music on the Friday night after our lovely dinner , the pint or half pint of prawns were an excellent buy I went for a half pint and glad I did as it took me so long to get through them the waiter was obviously waiting on me finishing so I could get my main course warm ! I would recommend you order these as a stand alone and wait untill your finished them before ordering your main but they were delicious as was everything else I ate there over the weekend , two ales on tap and a decent whisky selection perfect for me

My husband and I visited Crofter's Bar for Sunday Lunch on a day out in the west coast. I was delighted to see Local scallops on the menu and ordered the MAIN COURSE of scallops, chunks of bacon and salad costing £23.95. I was extremely disappointed when the food arrived as my meal consisted only of 3 full scallops and one without roe, a few SLIVERS of bacon a small handful of mixed leaves with 2 tiny pieces of tomato and one of cucumber. On the plus side the scallops were delicious and, fortunately, my husband's fish stew at £20.95 was more substantial and he kindly shared with me! When the waiter came to clear the plates ( no one had asked if the meal was ok as we were eating) we mentioned the inadequate nature of my meal as a main course and queried whether it may have been a starter portion. The waiter said he would mention our complaint to the chef but the chef did not make any response, The price of the food seems particularly extortionate since the meals are advertised as 'Good Value'. I left feeling cheated.

Scottish traditional music through a better-than-average sound system, a bar person who insisted on relaxing customers, great local mussels and cullen skink, and our teenager loved his chicken wings. We did not feel out of place in our hiking gear and the local musicians were a real treat to listen to. We will happily revisit next time we are in the area. It's nice when holidaying at home to experience something of the real local hospitality that we hope foreign visitors will be met with elsewhere in the country but that is so often missing in Scotland overall. We had a 2 course lunch here the other day, the last full day of our holiday in the area, and the meal here was a mixture of really good and not so good.I had the cullen skink to start which was really lovely, then the Mallaig fish and chips which was definitely average. The chips were overcooked and tasteless.Hubby had the best meal - the squid to start he said was really nice, then the massive burger, loaded up with black pudding, bacon, etc, which he said was very greedy of him to choose, but it was worth it.Poor Bairn didn't enjoy her chicken liver pate and when I had a taste of it, it was not pleasant at all. Tasted very artificial with an unpleasant aftertaste. Her chicken wings were better tho.All in all, I think the restaurant suffered from being compared to all the fantastic meals we'd had in the area earlier in the holiday, and I feel bad for writing an 'average' review but when you're in that part of the world and you cant do a decent fish and chips then there's something not quite right.

Dropped in here on our way back to Fort William from Mallaig and so wished we hadn't bothered. I ordered a BLT sandwich with a lager shandy, my husband asked for the steak onion and goat cheese sandwich to be told no steak sandwiches todsy so he asked for BLT as well with a coffee. Simple order to most places. The pub wasn't busy, only 3other tables occupied, but our order took nearly 30 minutes to arrive minus drinks which then took another 15 minutes. The bacon on the sandwiches was 1slice, stone cold and very fatty. There was 2 small slices of tomato and half a plate of greenery but nowhere was there any lettuce. This cost us £16.20 and to be honest it wasn't worth £6.20!! The music was a very loud Indian type music which I couldn't wait to escape! The weather was gorgeous and we grabbed a table outside with mant other customers. My evening started inauspiciously with my pet hate of a lady wandering to the bar and being served immediately despite the fact that I had been waiting some time. With Cromarty and Wooha beer on tap my mood improved however. A glance at the plate in front of a nearby customer convinced us that having two starters each was a plan. Whitebait, smoked mackeral, mussels and a large glass of prawns with home made bread was a fishy treat. She asked if we'd like food we said yes but could we have a bit longer to decide what? She said she'd come back in a couple of minutes. She didn't. When we asked to have our order taken she disappeared and came back to say the kitchen was now closed. You can imagine our disbelief. My impression is the crofter's bar is extremely understaffed. The first night I had the hot smoked salmon salad and sweet potato fries. Really tasty and loved the salad, kale beetroot and a balsamic dressing. The second night I had the scallops - it was a main dish and the scallops were large and juicy. Can't fault it! It was a huge plateful too so worth every penny. We also had the smoked chicken wings... amazing. We sat here for several hours enjoying local beers and cider. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back to visit and eat more from the menu! Warm welcome, not an extensive menu but okay - thought it was a bit pricey for some items. £10.95 for cheese board?

We visited the Crofter's bar today for lunch and had a lovely welcome from the staff. Being a cold, wet day the roaring log fire was most delightful. Our dog was more than welcome in the bar area. The lunchtime menu was very extensive, all of it sounding very tempting. We both went for sandwiches, when they arrived they were far more restaurant quality rather than your usual pub food. This was our first visit but certainly won't be our last. We visit the area for our holidays regularly and will make this a lunch stop on all our visits. Thank you for such a lovely lunch

We arrived at noon but they don't serve food until 1230, the guy was so nice answering all our questions and we decided to stay. There is a lovely children's play room and the food was very good. We had 2 starters, mains and even a pudding to finish. Staff were friendly and great, not a cheap place but worth it!

We had a for day break in Arisaig, 5 in our group. We met in the Crofters Bar after a wet days fishing for three of the group, myself and Rosie visiting the local sites. We all ordered different meals and what a fantastic choice. Jodie our waitress was a delight, we kept changing our order as you can imagine but she got every order back to our table with no mistakes The food was hot, plenty of it and fantastic in flavours. We would all recommend this little gem in Arisaig today and every day.

Called in here on our way back to our digs after a long day touring Skye. The Crofters is attached to the Arisaig Hotel and was busy on our arrival. We managed to get a table and ordered fish and chips. Seemed to take ages to arrive and the food was just okay, nothing special at all. I think the issue with this place, certainly on our visit was the poor waiting staff were being run ragged. Could be so much better.

Great little bar. Very busy with locals and travellers for a Tuesday evening. We both had fish and chips - massive portions which we couldn't finish. All the food that came out of the kitchen looked appealing and folks were clearly there for more than the beer. Mixture of customers - Families, oldies and young (and well behaved dogs) all enjoying the 'craic'. One tiny point. The bar is small and on two levels. We were on the ground level. The upper level has a pool table in the middle and the players can be 'pretty close' to the customers when they take some of their shots.Enjoyed our evening.

We popped in for a coffee as the hotel does look inviting. It was around 11.30 am on a wet day and on arriving we were directed through to the bar and bistro by the lady doing the vacuuming. There was already a family in the first lounge and our arrival seemed to fluster the lady making the coffees so perhaps not the usual barrista. We sat in the bar by a french window to watch the rain bounce off the decking but there was a lovely wood burning stove to cheer the miserable day. The cake cabinet was empty but we were provided with two pieces of shortbread which were very nice discounting the cereal seed or pip that my partner found in his piece. Then a tray was brought up from the kitchen for us to choose from and the sponge cake we chose was almost solid so we guess this had come straight from the chiller cabinet. Although the staff were helpful it was a bit disappointing especially as it was my partner's birthday, and every day is a special one for someone. The ladies toilets had dodgy locks and both were tiny - so no swinging anything - and I'm not tall. So, some good but enough bad that we won't be going back, at least not for a coffee and cake experience.

My dad and I thoroughly enjoyed a meal here prior to a trip to the Outer Hebrides. The food was excellent, really tasty and well-priced. I sampled the delicious Cullen Skink followed by the Cajun Fish Burger, which was lovely; my dad had the Chicken Liver Pâté followed by the Scampi, both of which he said were very, very tasty. The waitressing staff were excellent and kept us waiting just the right length of time. For two courses and a drink each (one alcoholic and one non-alcoholic), we paid just over the forty pounds mark, which was extremely good value given the value of produce you are being offered. Well worth a visit and a great find!!

Phoned ahead to book table for 6 plus a toddler. Was told no booking required for bar area but when we arrived we were told we should have booked! However, managed to squeeze in to a small table and borrowed two extra stools. No help offered to accommodate us from the waiting staff. Was told the mussels were finished. Imagine our surprise, so see the neighbouring table, who came in 30 mins after ordering the non existing mussels which duly arrived...White bait starter was very 'fishy'a signthat this was actually off. Cullen skink had no body. Haddock was transluscent and definately past its best, peas were hard, burgers underdone. All in all very disappointing - particularly as it was a family meal for a dad and a grandad on Father's Day. Ordered a couple of beers and soft drinks but they never appeared. Service was dreadful. No attempt to offer colouring pictures/pens for our toddler. Wasn't asked if everything ok but would have been pretty obvious by the unfinished food.

We hosted our wedding at the Waterside in June 2024 - it was a lovely & fun day for all, largely due to the help of our wedding coordinator Tiff! She went above & beyond to help me have a picturesque & fun day, I didn't have to worry about the setup or the breakdown - she even saved one of my wedding donuts for me when I never got a chance to have one during the night :) The reason for the loss of a star for the rooms is purely because the honeymoon suite lacked a mini fridge >> which I think would have been really helpful as we had several leftovers + wine we wanted to keep chilled. The loss of the star for service was due to some miscommunication between the hotel bookings & the event coordination, (i.e. after we had paid our deposit, someone on the booking side at the hotel had "force booked" several rooms for the day of the wedding for another guest/party, including the honeymoon suite) - which my husband spoke to the manager about & thankfully they resolved before the day.

We had drinks and a meal yesterday, early evening. The staff were very welcoming and the bar, although small was busy with a good atmosphere. The fish and chips were absolutely delicious; perfectly cooked fish, light batter and the triple cooked chips were the best I’ve ever had. They are dog friendly so we’ll be back next week with our dog. Thank you.
