CRISPY DOSA RESTAURANT in Reading

Been here 3 times in the last 10 days - love it! I’m finding that traditional curries leave me feeling heavy and generally a bit rubbish (getting old I suppose). Great prices, nice friendly service. They serve alcohol and the red wine is fine (only one on offer). It has a diner feel to it. Very sure we’ll be regulars. Please do pop in and give it a go.

We had a great experience at Crispy Dosa at Reading. The manager who was very helpful and polite. Though it was very busy Saturday, we had a very quick fast service. We really enjoyed authentic Dosa and ambience. We are sure we will be visiting again for sure when we will be at Reading.

Restaurant Review We recently visited this cozy spot for a film meeting, and it turned out to be the perfect setting for a creative discussion. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a clean, well-kept space that allows for focus and comfort—ideal for a meetup over ideas or a casual catch-up. The tea was good, though it left us wanting a bit more depth in flavor; a little improvement here would make it excellent. As our director kept the narrative flowing, I decided to try their Szechuan noodles, and it was a memorable choice. The noodles had a great kick to them, with a taste that brought to mind the lively, vibrant flavors of Indian street food. The dish was spicy, savory, and full of that street-style zest that made it feel both familiar and exciting.

We got our starters after mains even after mentioning that we would like starters first. Masala dosa was very nice but their aloo tikki chaat was extremely spice and full of red chilli powder on the top which gave me and husband tummy ache. Poor service. It looked like staff didn’t want to work.

Firstly, that’s not an onion Bhajji. Secondly, it took 20 mins to get my order. Third, person at the cashier took 10 mins to get me the invoice because no one knew the password of their billing system. I cannot believe I had such a difficulty in getting tea and onion Bhajji before leaving for home from office.

I heard it's a good place but didn't like it much.firstly they haven't given us the order in a proper sequence..chilly paneer which is hot ,served first and then dahi poori which is so cold..the vada curry I ordered as special weekend dish was just a shocking thing as they crushed the vada and made curry which made it so oily..overall not a good experience

Today I was order idly and masala dosa through Uber eats. I was disappointed about the food , red chetney was completely spoil. Its gets bad smell

Extremely poor service and especially on buffet days they serve half cooked foods. It is mockery in name of buffet. And good luck with getting anything you have ordered. They don't care for serving the people already sitting rather interested to stack up as many people as they can. Extremely bad management.

Great weekend breakfast buffet-coconut chutney is amazing! The staff is very generous and accommodating. All the staff work very hard and strive to provide good service.

Great dosa and good flavours. They did forget my girlfriends order which however they were quick to tell the kitchen the error. Really enjoyed the experience and will be visiting again to try the other menu items!

AVOID this place! Worst service, staff and food. Their dosa and uuttapam are all made with maida. Their staff both waiters and kitchen staff confirmed. I accidentally found this out only because I was checking for gluten free options and assumed like a traditional dosa would be just made with daal and rice. That’s why staff revealed they add maida or Refined flour in all their preparations. Just unbelievable!!!!

Amazing value for money with amazing service and super tasty authentic food

Just all round terrible experience. Food was either bland (noodles) or inedibly spicy (paneer). We missed the film we had paid to see because the takeaway took 40 minutes to arrive. With 2 dishes and 2 drinks, the total evening cost us £46 due to missed film costs. To be honest no part of the Crispy Dosa experience was enjoyable or impressive. The music in the restaurant was also super annoying!

Fantastic food , good menu . Great service by the people in the restaurant. Definitely recommend it for anyone who is expecting a good Indian Vegetarian good. Pleased to be here.

Always delicious, ideal for veggie and vegans, quick and friendly service, and a relaxed place for a snack or bigger meal. Love the rava dosa (crispy pancake stuffed with spicy potato), the Manchurian dosa is also super tasty. Can’t get enough of the chutneys. They also do catering for big events!

The food here was very excellent!!! Maruddhu,Ruby,Divya handled this busy evening really well!!! and comparing to the Hounslow branch, reading crispy dosa is much better!!

This is paneer 65, £43 pound order we got half filled rose milk £8 , smelly palak paneer , etc I don’t know how they earn , they even not scared of god

"Friday, we visited this restaurant for the first time and had one of the best Onam special thalis. It was a wonderful experience. Today, we went back hoping to have the Onam thali again, but unfortunately, it was not available, which was a bit disappointing. However, the food was still amazing, and we received great food suggestions and excellent service from Marthu. Overall, a wonderful dining experience!"

I would happily move to Reading just for this place. Excellent food, friendly service. I didn’t love the chowmein but that could be because I don’t like schzuan sauce in general. But everything else was amazing. The dosas looked great. I didn’t take any on this visit but certainly will the next time.

Walked in here at 9:30pm after a long days work not knowing what to expect. Soon as I entered I knew it was going to be incredible. We asked the waiter what we should get and he proceeds to bring out dish after dish of some of the best food I have ever eaten. I have never been to an Indian restaurant that felt so authentic, yet so welcoming. I would highly reccomend for anyone looking for a delicious meal. Thankyou!

Atmosphere excellent, Masala dosa served but masala inside was old and taste bad, they replaced with plain Dosa but charged Masala Dosa, idly and Mysore bonds was amazing. Asked for bit extra chutney but takes ages and found totally different taste. It’s a great place but i think they need more customers..nice and smile faces ..

We have been attended by Sathish and he suggested us some incredible fusion dosa ( one with paneer 65 and another one gobi 65 stuffings) and we really loved it. Keeps up the good work please!!!

Love this place, the food is authentic and delicious. Huge fan of the Bel Puri, dal makhani, palak masala dhosa in particular, but it is all delicious. Staff are lovely. We often have it delivered too and the food travels well.

This place is very good for Indian authentic veg foods with reasonable price and amazing taste.

The weekend buffet was very well planned by manger Sathish. The quality of food is also very good and its like homely food. The staff were very friendly gave good customer service.

The service at this establishment was exceedingly poor. The manager, Satish, was unable to recall our order and appeared more interested in sipping tea than attending to customers. Under new management and with newly hired staff at the Reading location, the food is merely adequate, with superior options available elsewhere in town. The atmosphere is also lacking. It is unsuitable for children, infants, or senior citizens, as access requires ascending stairs. Overall, my family faced difficulties entering the restaurant and subsequently experienced substandard service at various levels. The staff neglected to bring us water until we had finished our meal and approached the counter to pay. Although the food was passable, it lacked the authenticity of Indian cuisine, which was highly disappointing. If this review is being considered by the management team, I earnestly request that you cease playing loud South Indian YouTube videos. Patrons visit the restaurant to enjoy their time, not to be subjected to loud videos. Please ensure a peaceful environment so that guests can enjoy their time with family and friends.

Food is delicious and staff is very friendly

Weekend breakfast buffet is very good. It is almost like home made food. Variety of Dosas, Poori and Coffee are served as part of the buffet but these are made on request and prepared fresh and served same as regular non-buffet order. So, these always tasted fresh and authentic. There are other items too as part of the breakfast buffet. If you want to taste south Indian food in Reading, then this is the restaurant to go to. Customer Service is better than the other leading South Indian restaurant in Reading. Manager Mr. Satish is very caring and makes the whole experience even better. Thank you Mr. Satish. Fresh authentic food made to order as part of the buffet along with very good customer care are the deciding factors for me in recommending Crispy Dosa over the other leading South Indian Restaurant in Reading. If you haven't already, just visit once and you will be a regular visitor to Crispy Dosa... Be warned ;) There is free on-street parking (2 hours) too near by.

Absolutely horrible food and service. Went there for lunch, the buffet was cold and half empty. Waiter was extremely rude. The fact is the restaurant was not even busy that they couldn’t serve properly, it was mostly empty and still couldn’t maintain buffet or service. The food other than the buffet was devoid of any taste. Never going back again. Disappointment in the name of South Indian cuisine.

We have eaten in the Windsor branch and thought to try the one in Reading. Everything was really great.

Staffs unfriendly. Quality of food has gone down the hill since we last went. I wouldn’t recommend to any one looking for authentic food.

We searched for South Indian restaurant in Reading, and randomly chose Crispy Dosa because of it's proximity from the town centre. It was on Sunday and we wanted a light snack and cuppa. But they had buffet on Saturdays & Sundays - unlimited and just £8. I reluctantly picked up very less items from the extended buffet including the sweet dish & cup of tea. Every item I had was delicious and I craved for more- ordered fresh puri sabji. The restaurant was packed, & the manager earnestly and courteously made sure to accommodate all guest within short reasonable time. The other waiters were well dressed and polite. Excellent ambiance and you could see that guest were happy with the food. The service offered, the behaviours and on top delicious fresh home cooked food made our random choice a regular one for the future. You will not regret if you like south Indian or simple vegetarian Indian dishes.

Recently dined at crispy dosa restaurant in Reading and had an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome by the Sathish, who was both professional and friendly. The service was impeccable, with the waitstaff attentive to every detail.

These people only cares about money nothing else, food is not that bad but attitude….

Food is decent but not authentic south Indian

Food was spectacular and delicious and all the staff were super kind, polite and patient and always observant of me and my friends and constantly checked up on us (which is a good thing) but there were a couple of flies that came but the total experience was amazing.

I took the Masala tea, which is the same as karak, the price was 3 pounds, but honestly I liked it, but the only thing I didn't like was the atmosphere of the restaurant inside that smelled like food a lot, I think they need to do better ventilation than the current one.

Food great. They were happy to turn music down so we could chat better which was cool. I've been many times and got a slightly different version on what was vegan each time. No vegan puds. Lovely fresh juices.

Vadai seemed old. Besides that the food was really good with really good service.

Crispy Dosa in Reading is a fantastic pure vegetarian restaurant. We ordered the Gobi 65, which was amazing. The Mysore Masala Dosa had an authentic taste and was really awesome. We also enjoyed the Veg Manchurian Noodles and Schezwan Paneer Manchurian Fried Rice. To top off our meal, the filter coffee provided a complete dining experience. Highly recommend this place for delicious and authentic vegetarian dishes.

Food is good but there is no consistency, sometimes you will get a very good meal but sometimes you might get stale food. For me Samosa chat and filter coffee are must. Sambhar is really tasty as it satisfies my north India taste buds. Things to improve: 1) Cleanliness 2) Consistency in Food

Authentic South Indian fare. Quick and efficient service. They have a decent kids menu as well. My toddlers enjoyed the chocolate chapathi roll and the sweet potato fries. The rava dosa was perfectly crispy and lacy. Friendly staff, Satish was extremely courteous and helpful. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.
