Afternoon tea, sandwiches passable, scones burnt on bottom and so dry no amount of jam and cream could sort that. Cakes, carrot cake ok,choc cake dense and victoria sponge had far too much fat in the mix. Cranachan with no oats!!!! Very disappointed to say the least. Some staff could do with training in customer service, especially front of house

Came in because of the rating but the food was not great. Had the morning roll with black pudding the bread tasted stale and the black pudding was greasy for some reason. The orange juice tasted horribly bitter. Would not recommend. There are so many other good local spots that were so much better.

The best fluffy light cakes but now charging service charge on a coffee and cake. If I want to leave a tip, I will but you should not be adding it to the bill. Been coming here for over 10 years and this is the first time it cost over £21 for 2 coffees and 2 slices of cake. Get real, £19 was bad enough but then add extra for simply serving a coffee and cake. Stop charging service charge or we won’t be back. I know prices have gone up by really, that much for coffee and a slice of cake.

Place was ok as was the food. We both ordered from the list is sandwiches, a Cajun Chicken Wrap and a Club Sandwich, there is a note under the list of sandwiches that says ‘add a portion of skinny fries to any sandwich for £3’ so we did. When the bill came we were charged £8.50 instead of £6. I queried this with the waitress and she abruptly said that didn’t apply to the sandwiches we had. So clearly you can’t add Skinny Fries to ANY sandwich for £3. Appreciate it’s only a couple of pounds but really that’s not the point!

Visited Cranachan the middle of August, it was a Friday afternoon and seemed to be the place to be in Princes Square it was by far the busiest restaurant. We were greeted with a polite young chap who showed us to our table. After looking at the extensive choices a young lady took our order. I had the soup and sandwich (perfect lunch time portion) my wife opted for the pate and fries. The service was very quick although we were not left feeling rushed. We shared a mango and pistachio cake and had 2 coffees. All in all a lovely lunch, great service and a beautiful setting. We will be back ! Highly recommended.

Cranachan in Glasgow has to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had the misfortune of enduring. The service was utterly shocking from start to finish. The staff were not just disinterested but outright rude, treating us as if our presence was an inconvenience. The food was painfully average—nothing to write home about and certainly not worth the inflated prices. To add insult to injury, the billing situation at the end was a complete farce. We were overcharged, and when we raised the issue, the management was unbelievably unhelpful and dismissive. It felt like they were more interested in squeezing every last penny out of us than providing any semblance of customer service. Avoid this place at all costs. There are far better options in Glasgow where you’ll be treated with respect and actually get value for your money.

Came in here years and was so much better. Some of the waiting staff need to have a course in Manners and in the ability to smile occasionally. It isn't the fault of the paying public to that they don't want be at work. As we sat and ate our, reasonable sandwiches, one of the food prep technician's came out of a cupboard in the corner. Her cooks apparel was so disgustingly dirty that None of us would have even ordered if we had seen who was going to prepare our lunch. The street outside had less food on it than her top and that's saying something in Glasgow. It's only saving grace is that Tinderbox is right next door and that takes away som of the heat as that is equally bogging. Some rude unfriendly staff ( not all ) and isn't the cleanest..In need of a makeover in staff and In hygiene

Cullen Skink was just a potato soup. Who said their Cullen Skink was to die for?? It was made of potato, plus kitchen leftover vegetables. They brought me the soup in one minute, after the order. Even before my cocktail. I know the soup is already made, but isn’t it western gastronomy that you serve the drink first, and give the guests time to enjoy the drinks? I was very thirsty, and hoped to get the drink first, but had to wait for it for about 10 minutes. Not impressive food. Not an impressive service.

Early start from Aberdeen so a tad peckish when I arrived. Had the eggs florentine - eggs were delicious, hollandaise sauce a little thin & not enough of it, initial service a little slow - not up to the standard I'm used to in this restaurant, but it wouldn't stop me from coming back, as I make a point of patronising local, independent businesses & this one has long been my 'go to' choice when I arrive in Glasgow after a 3 hour coach journey.

Very friendly service, nice place, good presentation of the afternoon tea, with snacks and sweets. The savory snacks were good and filling. Some of the cakes had very sweet icing and the cream dessert is also prepared with very sweet ingredients, which ends up being a little sickening. The price was above what we expected. For two people it was £48.29, including the 10% service charge on the amount consumed, which is already added to the bill. I would say 3.5 stars.

The place is quite pleasant and the atmosphere too. On the other hand, the service (charged at £5) leaves something to be desired, for this price it must be impeccable, this was not the case. As for the food, we had afternoon tea, the sandwiches are quite good but basic, on the other hand the cakes are far, far too sweet, it's almost sickening... it's a shame because apart from that it doesn't are not bad, but a very sweet cake, with a sugar cream, sprinkled with icing sugar, not great. On the other hand, the quantity is there (or a little too much because we didn't manage to finish everything). Please note that the price indicated for the snack is per person and not for two people, which therefore doubles the bill.

Waited to be seated, staff were not overly enthusiastic. No hello, good morning, eye contact, just a gesture towards a table. Specifically requested an extra large, strong coffee. The waiter heard coffee coloured hot water by the looks of it, it was very poor. The vegetarian breakfast was sparse for the price, mushrooms dehydrated and burnt looking, scrambled eggs appeared rehydrated or powdered and were not like any eggs I’ve had before! One slice of cold potato bread, one slice of cold toast. No value for money at nearly £13 excluding the price for the dirty water. Honestly felt like nobody cared enough to bother complaining. We asked for 3 x items on a full breakfast be swapped for 1 x item, on the bill to they charged for an additional item despite removing the 3. This was amended after a quick chat! They didn’t forget to apply their “discretionary service charge”! I couldn’t recommend this place at all. I broke my rule of not eating in shopping centres to my cost! £56 for 3 x breakfasts with 1 x coffee each, Cranachan needs to look inward and do better on all levels from service to food and valuing their customers!

I recommend booking online. I know that in the UK they eat early dinner but on Good Friday (half empty city) I went at 7.25pm and at the entrance they told us that the kitchen was closed and that they could only give us drinks and desserts! I pointed out that on the website here it says that it closed at 10pm... all over the world the kitchen normally closes 1 or 2 hours before the restaurant closes... 3 hours earlier seems excessive to me, we went to the restaurant next door, same building and floor, and there were no problems. I recommend writing on the restaurant's website what time the kitchen closes, it seems more fair to customers. I won't go back and I won't recommend friends to go.

Travelled from Aberdeen to stay with a friend & had some time to myself in the city centre - bus was absolutely freezing for the entire 3 hour journey - so thought something warming at Cranachan would sort me out. I was correct - soup of the day was curried cauliflower & chickpeas - delicious, if a little too big a helping for me, but warmed me up from the inside out, which was just what was needed. Gentlemen who attended to me were charming, & had a very nice chat with one of them who, when I said the soup was quite spicy, told me the staff had been discussing that very thing! My girlfriend also had the roast beef sandwich with soup of the day at just under £13. Was aghast when the food came and the sandwich was 1 slice of bread!! Never eaten out before where a sandwich was 1 slice of bread and certainly not priced at £13 and £15 coupled with an average sized bowl of soup. Also stuck through the back room despite tables being available outside. I assume because it was 2 of us. Food was good quality but portion size was ridiculous especially given the price. We visited for brunch after completing the great Scottish Run. We were naturally on a high which was quickly deflated by a less than warm welcome with the opening words being “ breakfast ends in 10 minutes “. Not to be beaten we ordered five breakfasts coffees and a bottle of fizz. One breakfast required gluten free bread. After a long wait the food finally arrived. Fizz and coffees came a further five minutes later. As soon as the food arrived we questioned if the “ gluten free bread “ was in fact on the correct plate to be assured it was. Not satisfied we asked again and it was checked with chef - “ oh maybe not ! “. This was further compounded by the fact that the solution was to remove the offending bread from the plate. After 10 minutes no new bread. After chasing it was brought and placed next to the now congealed breakfast. We suggested that the cost be removed from the bill. This was only done after consultation with “ the manager “. The young server appeared to be covering a large section and was apologetic but simply not acceptable

Cranachan’s in Prince’s Square, Glasgow prides itself on offering coffee and Scottish ‘fayre’. We have been there several times and enjoyed our experience, but our last visit, yesterday. was disappointing. The atmosphere was nice and our waitress was energetic and helpful. We are not food critics or .foodies. by any stretch; the standard which we use to rate a dining experience is quite unrefined- is it better than what we could do at home? The answer this time around was ‘No’. - the Scottish platter was entirely unrefined. It had a tiny portion of Cullen Skink which came in a ramekin closer to thimble size than bowl size! The haggis was quite dry with hard texture. The Balmoral chicken was dry. The ham was it was wrapped in was burned. The sauce was good and saved the dish. Come on- that chicken should not have passed scrutiny. The word we might use to describe the food is ‘lazy’. We were disappointed to say the least. Finally, they need to do something about the toilets which are tiny and unpleasantly hot.

Service really poor. Food came without drinks. Asked waitress if our drinks were on their way. "If you ordered them then you'll get them". Food adequate but nothing special. Wouldn't return. Then we tried someone else: "it'll be a few more minutes; we're really busy". I cancelled my beer as what's the point with half a meal already eaten...? The service areas were really messy - stacks of dirty plates - all seemed out of control. Someone needs to get a grip on this place.

Not on the menue: Cranachan. The service told us we could get but 15 minutes later we were told that the provided cream is for afternoon tea and not for Cranachan. What a pity. Cullen skink Was great. But cranachan without cranachan???

Visited for high tea. Food was tasty and well presented. Pricing was fair for quality and experience. I liked the seating in the lobby area. It felt open and felt like I was seated outdoors sans the cons of outdoor seating.

I purchased an Itison voucher for Afternoon Tea for myself and my friend. We arrived, had our pink Prosecco brought to the table (very good size of glass) and ordered our sandwich filings. We said we would let them know when we wanted our pot...

The location was convenient, but food was just average. Took time to give us a table despite many available. Cleanliness could improve.

Went for xmas lunch, turkey dinner was lovely, but turkey pie was burned to a crisp and mashed potato waa frozen. We waited 45 mins before dinner was served and the place was quite empty. In fairness they didnt charge for the burnt dinner. Then they said they had no xmas pudding cos chef forgot to order it!!. Cant fault the servers but the kitchen staff need to turn up the service, cos people were getting annoyed waiting.

Their food is delicious! The fish and chips were exceptional. The staff, on all our visits have been really welcoming and helpful. Reasonable prices and fab food! Definitely worth a visit. The haggis bites fir starters were great, not been able to manage a desert so far as portions are big!

Great little night with family. Food was good and atmosphere was good too. Service was good and in the background and then there when needed.
