Craft Nurseries Restaurant in Tendring

Very enjoyable food which was served piping hot. We had roast lamb and roast turkey.

Always good food and service..was a bit slower today but they were extremely busy but staff always helpful and pleasing. My experience has always been the same that is why I thoroughly recommend it and prices are reasonable.

Waited for 15 mins for member of the waiting staff to take our order. We ended up walking out . It wasn’t even busy!!

Went to have breakfast with my friend. Lovely restaurant and helpful staff. Small breakfast was delicious, especially the very naughty fried bread.

Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures but we will return again to this fanstastic place and we will hopefully remember to take pictures of our meals and the lovely selections of wonderful cakes lol “Rum & Rasin Cake we had was really nice , just one little tip, in the cake , the rum bit I couldn’t taste at all , so when making these how ever they get there lol make sure there’s more tasting of rum , raisins was good , apart from that everything else was very nice , we had the baguettes and BLT’S & one with prawns SUPER WOW. Very filling and that’s me saying that 😂 , very nice the food of what I seen was outstanding and plenty of it for the price I would say the majority of the food I seen is worth the prices , also considering the overheads . But its definitely recommended to visit here either garden center or restaurant is a must .🫶🫶🫶💚💯

A great selection of lovely and reasonably priced food. Friendly and attentive service from the staff. Nice atmosphere both inside but especially outside on the terrace. I'd recommend the brie and bacon panini!

Love this place. My favourite for lunch. Amazing staff,food and location. Garden is lovely with waterfall flowing.

Hit and miss when it comes to staff attitudes, the manager that failed to provide a simple friendly smile and service. By observation, unless you are a regular the service seems to lack a personal and friendly approach. This is not always our experience but more than once and shows poor leadership skills.

Excellent all round experience great food, polite service, quick service. It’s always a treat going for a meal there.

Great breakfast, eaten in the Garden of the cafe. Surrounded by birdsong.

Sat in the garden amongst the wisteria watching the wildlife. Perfect.

Having driven past here many times we decided to stop in and try the restaurant for lunch and we didn't leave disappointed, plenty of choices on the menu although it clearly caters for the ages of the customer base (as it should). Everything seems homemade from the cakes to the pies but we settled on the prawn baguette and the steak and ale pie with mash, the baguette had plenty of prawns in and the right amount sauce to give the bread some nice moisture and it came with a side of lightly dressed salad, very creamy homemade coleslaw and some cheese and onion crisps. The pastry for the pie was just the right thickness and had big chunks of fall apart beef inside along with it's ale liquor and was served with a generous portion of mash, perfectly cooked vegetables and just the right amount of gravy. Prices are what you would expect these days and we left full up and presently surprised.

Jacket with Coleslaw served with salad leaves tiny slice of cucumber & onion no butter or dressings £9.50 Also two dogs came into the restaurant with their owners which I was surprised.

We had heard that the establishment was under new management and were eager to try as we are local to the area. We were very pleased with the quality of the food, it was very tasty, however quite underwhelmed by the quality of the customer service by the waiting staff. My husband & I had a nice meal but it was let down by the staff which is disappointing. It was a dreary Wednesday morning & unfortunately the staff did not brighten day.

Regarding the restaurant… The food is very expensive… £7.50 for a slice of apple pie for example. I am not tight and we all know prices have gone up but you aren’t the savoy

We always enjoy the food here, their all day breakfasts are very good , good choice as well. Love their 3 egg omelette.

Food great very young staff that spent a lot of time chatting to each other! 5 standing about and couldn't use the till when we wanted to pay as hadn't been trained! Somewhat annoying but otherwise good.

I have never been anywhere before that my child couldn’t eat because they did not cater for allergies. To also be so laid back to tell me they would not be held responsible and they have nothing in place in regards to cross contamination. So if you or someone you know has allergies/vegetarian/vegan I wouldn’t waste your journey!!!!!

Looked nice with plenty of inside and outside seating. However, I was very disappointed there were no savoury gluten free options. I understand this was due to the small kitchen, which meant cross contamination was likely. They did have a small selection of gluten free cakes. Sadly not enough to recommend to anyone requiring gluten free.

We ordered a goats cheese and beetroot salad each. 1 tomato in sections. 3 slices of cucumber halved. Some iceberg lettuce, red onion and tiny cubes of beetroot. There was eight small cubes of cheese and topped with the most awful dressing ever. Tasted of pure vinegar. Very well presented on a dish but £17.95 each? My son is a chef .his restaurant offers three spectacular courses for £24.00 I know what your thinking." Go there then" I do! But just fancied a garden centre lunch. Very overpriced. What a shame.

First time visiting here, always driven by and wondered what it was like. The garden centre itself was lovely, great choice of plants. The restaurant, there was plenty of staff, all very friendly and helpful. The menu is huge, so much choice, from sandwiches and jacket potatoes to hot food, including all day breakfasts, lasagne, gammon, omelette etc. Oh and the cake selection, amazing, so much choice. As you can see, I had omelette, with cheese and mushroom, was so huge and very very tasty. Was so impressed with everything, look forward to visiting again.

Lovely restaurant with plenty of places to sit either inside or out in the courtyard area in fine weather. Food is reasonably priced and good-sized portions. Staff are welcoming and friendly.

2 Fruit scone Friday 19th May / after buying several geraniums in the nursery, we decided to get a takeaway, the above with 2 coffees. It was disgusting….. not edible as so stale . A very disappointed customer we would never eat in this restaurant again.

Popped in while in the area to get a part for my car. The people were very helpful and when my car is due for its next service will book with them as in the area on a regular basis.

Popped in for lunch and surprised with good home cooked food by Jane chef A Cockney special lady. No photos eaten yet food sorry. But we'll worth a visit.

We thought we'd stop for lunch as we hadn't eaten here for years - only our second cafe visit since it changed hands years ago. We chose a table for two which unfortunately seemed to have a small prawn pressed flat onto the surface like an ammonite. We waited quite a while for anyone to come and take our order even though they were less than half full. When she turned up, we asked if the table could be cleaned please? A silent and uncommunicative girl came over in due course, immediately covered the prawn with her cloth, squirted something from her bottle over the table and my wife's arms, and then smeared the now-invisible prawn all round the table top. Job done, she left. We sat in disbelief! What was that? However, our paninis duly arrived and were OK, so we ate up, paid up and left, but with the impression that it's not what it was years ago and that the hygiene and service could be much better. A few days later and we have both gone down with Covid and been quite ill. After avoiding it for 3 years and assuming this would be a safe and hygienic environment, this is where we finally copped it. Great. Their hygiene and service standards are very poor indeed, and we won't be back. Nice garden centre though.

Lovely cafe, the food is all lovely and the portions are healthy. Only quarm is I could've done with better quality sausages, but aside from that it's all really high quality

It's a really pleasant place with lovely staff who have a smile for you. The food is good, homemade, and plentiful. I'm happy to recommend it.

Lovely place to sit down for a meal or just a drink. The staff are brilliant, the food is delicious and the garden centre around it is a bonus.

Booked a table day in advance , which was a good job we did. The place was heaving, people having coffee, then we arrived at midday & the lunchtime rush started, then the afternoon tea lot!! We didn't leave until 2.30pm we all sat & chatted & all had different main meals, desserts & coffee. Staff are pleasant & attentive & food is good. It's not cheap, but if it's good then no problem. For a garden centre restaurant (not really a coffee shop) they have daily specials & very extensive menu. Breakfasts are served all day. All in all a very enjoyable lunch & catch up with family.....

Went in for lunch, had the fish finger sandwich, well presented, reasonably priced. Staff friendly table service Fairly busy, good menu selection.

Nearly all staff were miserable, food was average at best - we had a jacket potato with coronation chicken and a Sunday lamb roast. Roast dinner was lukewarm and they charged us more than what was advertised and despite challenging this, the server wouldn't change the price. Too many staff for how many people were dining. Food overpriced. Would not recommend.

Cafe VERY busy, perhaps need more staff but they were all pleasant, the manager agreed to remove something from the bill which didn't happen, but still good food, by the river, would return. Water sports side of it looked brilliant. Its great to have them in the area.

Spent a few hours here with the family. Vast menu from sandwiches to roast dinners, panini's to burgers, plus desserts and an array of drinks on offer. Service was timely and polite with an air of teamwork and fun that you could see whilst observing the waiting staff and chefs. It was a joy to see smiling faces and enjoyment at work. Highly recommended for cakes, coffee or something more substantial.

The food was excellent, the service left a lot to be desired, we waited 15 minutes before anyone even came to ask to take our order, we watched as three members of staff stood around chatting! Then we asked someone who was passing if she’d take our order and she said” that’s not my job”! After that it got better until We watched as the chef ( lady) came out and started arguing with the next door table about the quality of the food the customer had sent back ! As she passed out table she was heard to say very audibly “ some people! Unbelievable “if that’s a service mentality we’ll look elsewhere! Sorry! Your cafe is lovely and I know your chef from the Rio cafe, so I came to see but I’ll be very suprised if I can persuade my sister to come back again to eat! But the garden centre is a favourite! Pity!

We had teacakes and drinks which were all very nice. Staff very friendly which made it a very enjoyable stop.

Just called in on the off chance of getting a take out. Food was lovely. Will definitely go back to eat in the cafe.

Sat outside, amongst some very pretty arrangements of flowers. Prompt service for outside. Lovely fruit scone, good size. Coffee was fine. Looked good selection of meals.

Bit dissapointed they would not deviate from the menu.they would not replace the vegetables with chips. Also the apple pie was not good because it had been heated up in the microwave

Beware. Manager of this facility is exceptionally rude. We raised a billing issue and were immediately confronted with a rude response from the manager. She told us that it was tough and that if we were stupid enough not to read the menu properly then we'd either have to pay her price or she would call the police. Avoid this facility, plenty of other nice establishments nearby where you can be spoken to with some respect.

I recomend the staff rearly care about giving you a great exsperience great food reat tea and tastey coffee (not burnt)wheelchair freindly toilets very clean can get very busy though but be patient and you will get a table
