Crabshakk Botanics in Glasgow City

I had a delicious meal and the bar staff were wonderful. I was by myself and didn't have a reservation but fortunately there was plenty of bar space so I made myself comfortable there. The fish off the specials was cooked perfectly and the mash and cabbage were delicious. Describing it in such a plain way really doesn't do it justice. I think there was cheese and/or garlic in the mash and the green cabbage had perfect seasoning. I had the lemon curd dessert, recommended by the bar tender, which was divine and complemented my cocktail (Captain Ron). Finished off with tea and home made perfect tablet. Nothing to complain about other than the meal has finished. Alas, haha! I hope I can visit next time I'm in Glasgow. A wee bit far from London, but who knows.

Dining at Crabshakk was an absolute pleasure. The ambiance was chic yet welcoming, and the service was top-notch—attentive and knowledgeable. The seafood was outstanding, especially the Fruit de Mer, which was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. The crab cake was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. The Crabshakk Bisque was rich and the perfect comfort dish. Overall, Crabshakk is a must-visit for seafood lovers. Exceptional food, great service, and a memorable experience!

Great seafood, perfectly cooked and presented

Absolutely first class option for seafood. We had a group of 8 and all of us had fantastic food. Iain, who looked after us, was an absolute star. Will definitely return and recommend without hesitation.

I will keep this short, staff were incredible and attentive, menu variety was fantastic and the food was out of this world, they also had a great variety of non and alcoholic drinks, a must visit and will definitely be back.

Had yet another fabulous dinner at Crabshakk Botanics last night celebrating a family birthday! Fish and scallops were top notch as always. Just wanted to give a BIG shout out to Erin who was our wait staff. She was cheerful, efficient and provided outstanding service throughout the evening. Thank you very much, Erin!

Visited in April and forgot to leave a review – but isn’t that an endorsement in a way? Cuz I remembered ages after, because the meal was that memorable, I’m sure you agree that my forgetfulness is actually a charming quality, but not as charming as the staff, or as quality as the food. Seriously this place is lethal, and they gave me a birthday card which I still have to this day, cuz binning birthday cards is depraved.

Amazing fish (I tried the octopus in the specials), beautifully cooked, and attentive service. Glad that the best spot by the windows is not a popular choice.

Food was extremely tasty and the mains were a generous portion, left feeling full. Only minor complaint from my starter and main was that it could've been a bit warmer but the flavour of everything was too nice to make it an issue, recommended

Gorgeous seafood served in style. The food is just great, and they have a good list of drinks to accompany it. It is on the pricier side, so save it for a special occasion. The only thing I would change is that the music was too loud.

Lovely pre birthday lunch on Friday. I just love the atmosphere in this place, especially if it's sunny out side and Paige is serving. Nice chilled wine, and the wee supper was perfect. Favourite restaurant in Glasgow. Always excellent food and good range of specials. Usually busy even quite so on weekday afternoons makes it a great atmosphere

Excellent all round.Suggest cushions are kept on the premises to assist the ederly to gain height on the seats situated against the wall.

+ Excellent design and atmosphere . Welcoming and warm staff. Food generally very tasty. - Big. My wife had food poisoning onset narrowed down to clams while on the premises. Initially denied by the duty manager as " it takes 23-24 hours to occur" . A quick check on Google revealed onset can be 30 minutes to 1 hour. When this was shown some concern was demonstrated and "the owner (?) will call tomorrow to make sure all is well" 10 days later and no call. A seafood restaurant where the management have insufficient knowledge of the effects of shellfish food poisoning? Uncaring attitude to the welfare of their customers?

I think it was the food that made me ill. The manager was nice and accommodating but after leaving I lost my dinner so to speak. Will not return.

£42 for a half cooked halibut.and bottle of coke..certainly not worth the money.

Food was amazing, every dish delivered. Hard to pick a favourite but if I had to it would be the Scallops in sage and anchovies butter, or the salt and pepper squid. Chowder was also unbelievably good. Great service, friendly and professional staff. All in all first class experience and can't wait to return in the near future.

The staff was very attentive and extremely friendly! The atmosphere was very nice and not too loud or bright, but it was the food above all else that was worth it all. The specials were amazing! We had both the entrees and our dessert off the specials menu and they were so delicious! Definitely worth checking this place out.

Not what i was expecting. Average food and service. The seafood soup was overwhelmed from the cream,very heavy. The lemon sole I couldn’t finish was swimming in butter, again very heavy. For a main course that costs £38 i didn’t except this quality. Service was average, not friendly. The waitress didn’t even checked on the food.

Wanted to try Crabshakk for so long…no availability at Finnieston so decided to go to Botanics. Pros Good buzzing atmosphere. Good menu selection Cons Service was absolutely terrible. For what you are paying, you would think the service would be more attentive. The waiter looked as though he couldn’t be bothered serving us. Never checked if we were ok or if we were enjoying your food. Served dirty plates. When we left, not even a goodbye or thank you. The food wasn’t amazing, would have came back but service was just terrible, I wouldn’t bother. Staff were more pretentious than the customers.

We went with high expectations but unfortunately the food turned out to be disappointing and consequently overpriced. Tempura Quid, Soy & Coriander starter was nice and of a good portion size. The Seared Scallops with Anchovy Butter & Sage starter was a little bland with the drizzle/sauce lacking flavour. It was also a rather small portion and we are not keen of the roe being kept on, but that's a personal preference. The scallops themselves were cooked well without being rubbery. Unfortunately, the Seared Scallops with Anchovy Butter & Sage as a main (large) was the same as the starter and also a rather small portion size for a main. The whole Lemon Sole with Brown Shrimp and Caper Butter was excellent on the top side, however, the underside was overcooked and mushy. It was a large portion but only half of it was enjoyable, which isn't good for a c.£40 price. The accompanying fries were very nice. Service was very good and the atmosphere had a nice mood to it. There was no issues with loud music as other reviews have pertained. The soft bench style seats are a little low compared to the table height but comfortable. I don't know if a tip was automatically applied to the bill because the machine was presented to me with a final price of £120, which was only for two of us. I left a generous cash tip based solely on the good service of the floor staff. We left feeling rather underwhelmed and certainly in no hurry to return based on the quality of the food. Perhaps we were expecting too much, however, the prices being charged should guarantee quality and consistency.

First Class Service. First Class Food. First Class Atmosphere. Pretty good company too.

Thank you so much Crabshakk Botanics for such a wonderful dining experience for our anniversary. The team who looked after us were absolutely excellent, every single team member was courteous and attentive; the server who greeted us at the door acknowledged my partner’s height and offered the choice of two different tables to ensure he felt comfortable, this rarely happens so we felt immediately at ease. Our table server Ian was so kind and friendly and took the time to answer questions regarding the wine specials, sharing information from the in house sommelier which helped us make informed choices. The staff were the true standout in the whole experience. They cultivated a beautiful relaxed atmosphere and went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and cared for, just excellent service! We absolutely loved each dish, particular standout was the salt and pepper squid. Having been to the Finnieston venue we were looking forward to trying the food at the Botanics and it exceeded expectations. Scallops gorgeous as always and we also enjoyed the little touches like the complimentary water, including a sparkling option. Everything complimented so well. We’ll definitely be back, thanks for a beautiful evening!

Highly recommend for special occasions

My partner had the scallops and lobster and he really enjoyed it! He said he lkkes the scallops more than the lobster so if you're thinking about the scallops, yes get it, my pals said so as well. We shared a squid tempura which he enjoyed but I'm not really into that, the squid was still a little chewy for me however the batter was light and the sauce was nice. I had the steak which I don't quite enjoy but I believe it is personal preference.

It was a lovely experience and the staff couldn't do enough for you, I have a garlic allergy and they could do pretty much most things for me without garlic my daughter got a gift voucher as part of my birthday as I love shellfish and I ordered the lobster which was lovely but I wasn't keen on the sauce however I chose to eat it and the lobster was delicious (my fault on the sauce) after mains I ordered a dessert which I was gifted because of my dislike of the sauce, what a lovely thing to do and they also gave my daughter a glass of wine without charge, would definitely recommend.

Restaurant. Looks good nice decor and layout. Staff excellent. Noise from weights dropping on the floor from the gym upstairs is unavoidable but noticeable. Didn't really bother us, but a few other tables complained. Food. Starters. Oyster were fresh. Calamari we had both, Tempura batter was light, and not chewy. Salt and Pepper Squid & Gurnard, only really good bit was the grilled squid, the Asian slaw and Raita was just ok. RaitaTaramasalata was good but the toasted bread was burnt, obviously burnt scorch marks are expected but this toast was way past that in places and was greasy. Main. Monkfish cheeks and fries. Was ok, Monkfish was pretty flavourless, fries ok, not seasoned but not a big deal as you can add your own salt. Crabshak ketchup isnt really anything special. Dessert. Affogato boozy. Was actually very good. Good quality Ice cream and espresso White chocolate moose with plums. Was also good. Wine. Rose, good but would of liked more than one as an option. White, Bodegas Granbazan Etiqueta Ambar Albarino, 2022, very good. Domaine de Grange Neuve Monbazillac, 2019, France, was good and went well with the white chocolate moose. Cocktail special, White negroni. Very good. Overall for the price, the food quality isn't quite there for this price point. Also didn't have clams or mussels available on the night we went, which was a shame. Overall won't be rushing back. They might do something's very well, perhaps the shell fish when available.

Really well worth a visit, so long as you're a fish 🐟 lover. 5*

Ordered the fruits de mer. So overpriced and underwhelming. Also served in the wrong way, impossible to consume without food falling off the ice and onto the floor and for the cost I expect the shells to be open and the not so nice (putting it midly) part to be fully removed. Coat taken upon arrival does not equal 5 star customer service. The entire customer journey needs reassessing.

Popped in this evening and sat on one of the high tables in front. We actually prefer these for dining and the bar itself. Food was delicious. Mussels were so plump, scallops are always a winner and a great wee house salad that is a cut above what you get elsewhere. It’s a very stylish and comfortable restaurant. Best of all was Petra. She always has a smile and is low key but looks after you in every way. Merry Xmas folks and thank you

Best restaurant in Glasgow. Visited a third time for my birthday and it was a perfect experience. The food, drinks and service are all faultless. Freshest of fish, perfectly seasoned and cooked, and incredible combination of flavours. Drinks compliment the food beautifully. Friendly, knowledgeable and relaxed service, and good music played at the ideal decibel within this gorgeous establishment make for a very comfortable dining experience. Keeps getting better with every visit. Cannot wait to return.

First rate experience at this seafood restaurant in Glasgow, fully recommended all around. The crab cakes are outstanding! We particularly enjoyed the grilled cabbage and piclkled onions and the heirloom tomato salad. The service was excellent, and we will be back next time in Glasgow.

I love the original Crabshakk in Finnieston but this place is lovely for a change and the tables are far comfier The menus are very similar with slightly more choice here on the standard menu I usually have the large scallops with fries, in anchovy butter. It's just delicious Desserts were lovely also and the vinho verde tasty

I absolutely hate fish but the chips and and Garlic mayo were great.

What a fantastic restaurant. The food was incredible and the service was excellent. We had the large Mussels followed by the whole lemon Sole and Monkfish cheeks. For dessert we had the special mouse with plums and white chocolate & the Espresso and Amoretto ice cream. Drinks were lager, rum and two glasses of Riesling. Every flavour was exceptional and the food was cooked to perfection. Even the trip to the W/C was a treat! Lol. Top marks! Thoroughly recommended.

I would say most things on the menu are fantastic but the music volume or general acoustics is terrible. You will know exactly what I mean when you sit down. You can't hear the person sitting right in front of you. I've been there 3 times and I have to say, if it wasn't for the food, I wouldn't come back.

I had my 1st oyster, interesting. Had to have my steak sent back and when finally got it. 2 bites later I suffered a medical emergency. I'd a laryngospasm which is where your throat closes for up to 1 minute. The staff was brilliant, they realised quickly there was something serious and acted immediately. I was starting to panic, feeling dizzy and thankfully my throat opened up. This is something I get but not regularly thank goodness. Thank you to everyone who helped, I truly appreciate it. I never got to eat my steak as I could not face eating at that time. The couple of pieces I did manage were lovely and when cutting them it slid off. Definitely recommend the steak.

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The food is by far the best in Glasgow, so fresh, not overthought and executed very well. It’s great to see staff who can combine being professional, friendly and work off each other like they are happy to be there. Atmosphere is brilliant and we didn’t want to leave by the end of the night. The only addition I would add is a dance floor to boogie the night away.

This is one of the best restaurants I've visited in a while. The girl that served our table was incredibly sweet, and complimentary to us. The service was fast and efficient, and all the staff kept us updated when our food was a little delayed. The decor is very modern and comfortable. We tried the fried whitebate (which were my favourite thing on the menu - so crispy and light), the smoked fish platter, two oysters and a side of fries. Everything was absolute perfection!!! They also had a good list of gins and vodkas to choose from. Our bill came to around £75 (icl. Tip) for all the above dishes and 2 alcoholic drinks each. I would recommend this to any lover of seafood! I will be back again, and again.

This place is absolutely amazing. It's very fresh, open and decorated using fresh plants. The atmosphere is very nice. We sat right on the entrance walk and we felt like we were both indoors and outdoors. Customer service was very nice, everyone was very polite and friendly. The food was good. The scallops and Squid for starters were amazing. I definitely recommend this place.

Oaft, by the way, troops... OAFT!! This was my first trip to Crabshakk and let me tell you, it won't be the last. From the scintillating food to the lovely staff and the beautiful setting in the west end itself, it's the perfect place for lunch. Especially those partial to a fish dish or two. Absolutely unreal scran on offer. And I'm not talking about a typical fish supper. Go wild and give your taste buds an unparalleled adventure they won't forget anytime soon. 10/10. Nous y avons déjeuné, un peu tard mais ils semblent servir toute la journée. Il y avait du monde mais la salle étant très grande ça n'a pas posé de problème, même au niveau du bruit. La serveuse était très sympathique et a pris le temps de répondre à nos questions et de nous faire ses recommandations de plats. Tout était délicieux, très frais et local, généreusement servi. Les moules étaient énormes et très goûteuses, les scallops hyper fraîches et cuisinées avec beaucoup de goût. Les recettes sont dans l'ensemble assez "simples" (rien de trop extravagant) mais pour des fruits de mer/poissons c'est l'idéal je trouve et elles étaient vraiment délicieuses, nous nous sommes régalés ! Les desserts étaient eux aussi très bons. Un sans faute

My neighbour turned 82 at the weekend and as she had previously told me that she'd never eaten crab but would love to try it, I booked a table for a birthday dinner. The staff were so lovely and they treated Kate, my neighbour, with such kindness. There was a wee birthday card for her too, with a drawing of a crab inside and it made her day. We shared crab cakes as a starter and she scoffed them. Then Kate had a small fish supper, while I had the pasta vongoli. Both delicious! Kate is already looking forward to returning for more crab cakes. Thanks for a great evening!

Favourite spot in Glasgow. Service excellent, food even better. We love sitting at the bar dining seats looking into the kitchen. Always the best vibe and faultless. Highly recommend. The salted caramel tart with ginger ice cream is a winner every time!

Enjoyed a big family meal before a qedfing we were all attending. 21 of us didn't faze, food was exceptional, and house wine was extremely good.

Gorgeous menu, lovely meal! Friendly and helpful staff. Puddings were incredible! Even if you aren't a sweet person I'd recommend getting a pudding as they're very well balanced. Not too sweet!

What a fantastic lunch, we were really looking forward to trying Crabshakk after our friends recommended it. I'm so glad we did! Booked our table online and were seated instantly. The decor is stunning and the vibe is very chilled. A great selection of seafood dishes from main meals to small plates. We had scallops fried in anchovy butter and they were stunning. Can't wait to go back soon!

Fish, seafood and sauces were very good. Beans in the cassoulet were hard, not properly cooked. Biggest disappointment was oven chips. For a restaurant that is trying to be epicurean this is a major failing. Cheap and nasty and not becoming of the prices they charge.

High priced terrible food in attractive setting

I enjoyed my 50th family birthday celebration here. Lovely food, had crab cakes, lobster and squid to share. Also had 2 tasty oysters. My mum organised the staff to put candles on my desert and they helped with this and brought it to the table. Very tasty puds. Only negative was that the music was too loud especially for my mum and older relatives who found it bit difficult to hear. Also perhaps food a tad overpriced. Otherwise good experience in a lovely stylish restaurant.
