Cotto Restaurant in Bury

The restaurant is lovely, atmosphere lighting and ambiance fab. We had ha mixture of garlic bread which were all great. For starters we had scallops, some had mussels and some had salmon- all cooked to perfection. The mussel dish was huge with a great chunk of focaccia on the side. For mains we had sea bass which was amazing- although expensive it was worth every penny. Friends had the fish skewers, pasta di Mare, pasta piquant all cooked and tasted fantastic. Finished with Irish coffees. Outstanding food and service will definitely dine here again

We were in Rome during our anniversary and made reservations at this restaurant to celebrate it on October 6th with a group of 11 family members. We chose this hotel due to its proximity to the Hotel Raffello Sure and Doubletree Monti. It’s about a 6 minute walk from both properties. Upon arrival we were promptly greeted by a friendly hostess and immediately taken to our table. Our food was delicious! The service provided by the wait staff was excellent. I’m not usually a fan of tiramisu but the waiter suggested I try it, great choice, it was excellent! Everyone in our group was pleased with the quality of food and we all left happy.

As big eaters and people who don't leave food especially expensive food I'm sad to say we left over half the food and those who ate all there food said it was average.

We visit Cotto every Friday night for our weekly family meal. We have done so since this restaurant changed hands and re opened. Tonight me and my family and I came to the restaurant, which was not busy it was just me and my family in there. We ordered our food the manageress took our orders. We all got our starters at the same time, and up until this point, everything was fine. Then the mains came and all of my family received theirs except me. I was waiting for 10 mins and asked one of the waitresses who couldn't understand me where my main course was and to my amazement he said what main course. The manageress said oh I will look into it and then came back and told me they forgot my order." They didn't apologise to me. I then said I didn't want my meal as by this time my family had already been eating for 10 mins. She never offered to rectify the problem nor apologise for the inconvenience. Offered me my meal, but again, by this point, I didn't want it. Because we should all eat as a family not eat separately. Again she never even apologised nor offered any kind of compensation. The meal was £160 of hard earned money. But this has ruined our family night out. We will not be returning to this restaurant anymore. we will go somewhere else that listens to orders and appreciates our customer. as we have been very loyal and supportive to this local business since the day opened.

40th birthday celebration for the daughter and what a great place to eat. Excellent vibe with the service being outstanding. The steak, pasta and pizzas top notch. The cocktails were proper and flavoursome. Thank you for making the daughters birthday a day to remember.

We visited Cotto for a family birthday. This is the first time we have been to this restaurant and it had been recommended to us by a friend. We could not fault it at all. From the moment that I rang up we were highly impressed. The food, the ambience and the service were all excellent. It was very busy it being a Saturday night but it did not detract from the experience. We ate early and it was nice to see families enjoying their meals. Later it was adults only. There were a few birthday celebrations as well. We would definitely go again.

Very slow service. Although the restaurant wasn't too busy it took over 40 minutes even for our order to be taken or to get a drink. Three tables who had come in after us were served first, one having finished their meal and left before our food even arrived. The waiter appeared to find it amusing that we had waited so long. The food, when it arrived. was adequate. A very poor experience. We will not be returning or recommending it.

It was like dining at Fawlty Towers in terms of service and the attitude of the waiter/manager. We had to wait 40 minutes for our order to be taken, even to order drinks, and it was not as if the restaurant was busy. First time here and it will be the last. Three other tables who came in after us were served first, one table finishing and leaving before our meal had even arrived. The attitude of the manager was appalling : he seemed to find it amusing that we'd waited so long. Given the name of the restaurant it seemed a bit ironic. The food, when it came, was adequate. Reading other reviews most people will enjoy it there but if you're unlucky enough to be one of the ones to get bad service it really is bad!

Took our friend from Ukraine out for a meal as a treat for us all. Usually go to Baci next door which we rate but they were full so went to Cotto instead. We waited an inordinate amount of time for our meals whilst others who came in after us were served first. Totally disappointing experience and given we are local people we won't be back and will stick to where we know our custom is valued.

Absolutely delicious. We tried 4 pasta dishes and the veal Milanese ones a variety of starters and everything was tasty, well seasoned, served piping hot and with a friendly smile

I don’t normally send reviews for restaurants but Cotto deserves a special mention. We went there for a milestone birthday celebration - there were 25 of us. The unanimous view of all of us was that this is an exceptional restaurant. The food was superb. The staff could not have been more attentive, friendly and efficient. There was a fantastic atmosphere. It was a wonderful evening. We will certainly be going back.

Ate here last night and it was fantastic. The scallops and prawns starters were both incredible. Only taken one star off for service as my drink was cleared before fully finished and I didn’t get my dessert until 3 of the other guests had finished theirs.

I usually write to commend an establishment but regrettably cannot do so on this occasion. We met with Manchester Friends who had booked Cotto for dinner last night. Disaster struck within the first 5 minutes of arrival. As I perused the menu, a Drinks Waitress lost her footing and a whole tray of drinks was spilt over me. It was an accident, which I took pains to seek out and speak to the waitress to save her embarassment but it was what happened later that spoilt the evening ....... My Cloth Jacket on the back of my chair and my shirt and trousers were thoroughly soaked with wine from the accident. My jacket was taken away to be dried by the staff and I spent a good 15 minutes in the Gent's Toilet using the Hand Dryer to dry off my shirt and trousers as best I could. To clarify I mentioned dried in both cases but not cleaned as the wine was still prevelant on all items of my clothing. My wife washed my shirt this morning but the jacket and trousers will probably need to be Dry Cleaned. Did the Manager offer to compensate me for the cleaning .......... NO .... but please read on. Manager said "don't worry I will look after you" ........ really ? We ordered our drinks and food and the waitress said the 'This First Round of Drinks were complimentary". Just the First Round of Drinks ? Wow ! The food came ....... Hot but insipid Minestrone which had been 'beefed up' by the addition of far too much pasta and not enough vegetables. For Main Course I chose Veal Milanese which had been beaten so flat there was hardly any Veal to taste as it was mostly Overcooked Breadcrumbs.. The accompanying spinach as so doused with garlic we could not eat it. To compound matters, there was an hour's delay in our party of 4 receiving their Main Courses which was not acceptable in what is supposed to be a restaurant with Good Standards. Not only that but when the food finally arrived, after 2 enquiries as to where it was, it arrived separately for each guest so we could not start eating together. When we asked for the bill, the Manager said the only the drinks were complimentary which I mentioned was not really acceptable under the circumstances. No mention of even a contribution to my Cleaning Costs and nothing more was offered by way of compensation for a Ruined Evening. I went back to the Gents before leaving having paid 50% of the bill and unknown to me, in my absence, the other gentleman in our party made a point of approaching the Manager to say his offer was derisory and that at the very least my meal should have been complimentary to which he was told in no uncertain terms "the Free Drinks are all I am prepared to provide for the Drinks Spillage over Your Friend". As I have entitled my Review, the Manager's Attitude left much to be desired and frankly it has to be considered absolutely appalling ! Cannot recommend this restaurant and would would certainly not encourage others to eat there .............. unless their is a complete change of attitude and one that shows some serious empathy and understanding towards a guest who has encountered a serious problem, albeit accidental. rpjm Leeds, Senior Contributor

I decided to take our family to cotto for Father’s Day after looking online and seeing they offered the standard a la carte menu and a Sunday lunch menu which was perfect for us. Upon arrival despite booking a table, the table wasn’t ready, no big problem waited around 5 mins and we were shown to the upstairs. Once we were seated I asked for the Sunday lunch menu, to be told this wasn’t available. This was very annoying and I was disappointed as if I had been made aware of this prior to arrival I wouldn’t have booked a table. There was also no children’s menu either. The food was nice, however the food was not all brought out together, my son’s pizza came out 5 minutes after the first meal and one of the garlic bread around 15 mins after. .

Only ever heard positive things about Cotto so decided to give it a try. Enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish, the decor is beautiful, the staff were all attentive and the quality of food was fantastic. Came on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was busy but had a relaxing vibe.

Lovely place to share a meal with family.

So we came back this evening for our second meal this month. The food was wonderful, the service brilliant. Thank you for the surprise panacotta to celebrate our daughter's 12th birthday. Both our daughters really enjoyed it! We will definitely return later in the year. Highly recommended for a great experience!

What an amazing Experience. Feel Like being in the Italian countryside in a cozy ambiance, classy and inviting home? Cotto is your spot! We started with a delicious Burrata and Garlic Bread! Cheers! Delicious and generous! Every one of our menu selections was amazing! Pastas will melt in your mouth, best Salmon pasta I’ve ever had! so generous we could not finish everything! And under $100£ total, seemed very reasonable for dining in a beautiful setting with mouth watering food! Well done! Love this place! Will definitely return!!

Great food and wine and impeccable service, especially on Mothers Day. With grown up boys the portion sizes were well recieved. We will definitely be back!

Simply great from start to finish. The Cotto was an extremely positive surprise for us. We had reserved a very friendly welcome and were given a table by the window. We were given very good advice and the food we ordered was a 10/10. The restaurant was very well attended and we found it very positive. We were definitely not here for the last time. Booked last minute with friends and I enquired over the phone if there were many fish choices, as we are pescetarians and was pleased to hear there were 3 or 4 choices , one being my favourite: halibut. After a few minutes wait at the bar we were shown to our table. About 25 mins later a waitress came to take our order and being late we decided to dispense with a starter and order just main courses. So we ordered 3 halibut and 1 sea bass. A further wait of 20 mins later, the head waiter came to our table and, without offering an apology, informed us there was only one halibut left and no sea bass. This was disappointing, especially after having waited almost an hour since arrival. to be informed. We settled to order the one portion of halibut remaining and have 2 portions of salmon and a pasta dish instead, stressing emphatically that we could not have the salmon with prawns which our waitress noted. Twenty minutes later our food arrived only to discover the salmon was served, despite our explicit request.... with prawns.!! At almost 10pm, we were in no mood to wait for 2 fresh portions to be cooked without prawns and our patience was worn thin. Ultimately, we got to speak to the manager, who yet again didn't seem at all apologetic but did explain the order was served to us in error which was for a different table (goodness knows when we would have received the right order!) so we decided to leave and ate elsewhere, which living locally, we will continue to do.....

Exceptional service, the BEST tomato garlic bread, pasta was delicious with fresh ingredients and the chocolate fondant was huge and tasty. Great wine. Starters seemed pricey, we didn't order any so can't comment if they are worth the price but the rest of the menu was reasonably priced. Looking forward to returning to try more of their food and we have already recommended Cotto to others.

My second visit to Cotto was for my cousin's Baby Shower in the upstairs room, I had the Aubergine Rigatoni which was delicious alojg with the Courgettefries (again). My sis had the Mushroom Risotto and loved it.

I cannot speak highly enough about this restaurant. The service, as well as the food, could hardly be bettered. I think it’s the only restaurant where the waiter shook my hand as I left! Great ambience and decor too. It was a very cold day, but we were placed in a heated area which really helped. I had lobster ravioli - absolutely delicious, and obviously a massive cut above any ravioli I’ve ever had before. A delicious bread selection. Panna cotta which was quite possibly the best I’ve ever had. Delicious wine. I cannot fault anything. It does seem authentically Italian, and the menu is extensive and interesting. I would say this is a contender for the best Italian meal I’ve ever had. Go now! You won’t regret it. The car park is behind the restaurant and the available spaces are signed.

On the whole we enjoyed our meal but there were a few snags. Restaurant was empty and we were the first seated. We had to holla for a drink which surprised us since they had no one else in. Service seems a little flat and lacked warmth and personality. Starter of tomato garlic bread was delicious as were the chicken and veal mains although I did have to send back my broccoli side that had been cooked within an inch of its life. Desert affogato was lovely but overpriced in our opinion. The old fashioned cocktail was perfectly executed and went down a treat. We would return but staff do lack that personal touch that it so needs. This place certainly has potential.

Food is fresh any delicious. Excellent starters, pasta and steaks. Nice decor and atmosphere. A great addition to the local area, best Italian in Whitefield by far.

The four of us had a very good evening meal. Very good menu choice of popular Italian dishes. The service was welcoming, professional and efficient. The food was good quality ingredients cooked to a high standard. A good selection of drinks at very reasonable prices. We would highly recommend this Italian if in the area versus others nearby where we would only rate as average at best.

We visit Cotto every couple of weeks . It’s the BEST Italian in Whitefield hands down. I am half Italian myself who regularly visits Italy so I know what good Italian food should be and Cotto is fantastic. The food, the lovely smiley and friendly staff are 5 stars. We love it here, don’t even think about going to the other Italian restaurants in the are A because this one wins over and over !!!!

Great restaurant and tasty food. I found it a little noisy due to it being completely full. Good staff, there is a car park at the rear but it gets full quickly at weekend. We will go again. There was five of us for a three course dinner, £200.

Lovely restaurant with really nice food and friendly staff. I had the Mushroom Risotto it was really filling along with the courgette fries which we're tasty too :) My sister had the Chicken pizza which looked nice also. As a local I would definitely visit Cotto again.

This restaurant is definitely the best in the area, friendly and attentive service, fantastic food and a really nice ambience. There was four of us and it was perfect. My fillet steak was cooked perfectly and the chocolate fondant was amazing, recommended by the attractive waiter! I’d definitely return and highly recommend!

This restaurant has gone from my favourite new restaurant to my never ever again restaurant. 1st visit was great, perfect table, great service and great food. 2nd visit got put on the worst table in the place right next to the bar, facing the toilets despite booking 2 weeks in advance asking for a front table. 3rd visit got put back on the worst table facing toilets again. All this even though I booked a good 7/10 days in advance and I was flexible with my time. Cost me £100 in taxis to watch people got to the toilet all night. Was offered to go upstairs but that was so noisy with a large celebration going on. Even a family of 6 came down from up there due to the over powering bigger party. You don’t seem to listen to customer requirements. I can see absolutely no reason why I couldn’t have the table I requested or a mid restaurant table. You knew full well I didn’t want the table you put me on cos I told the lady multiple times when I booked oh and Please don’t tell me it’s “ one of them nights “ and patronise me further. Why would I want to watch people going to the toilet all night whilst trying to enjoy a nice family meal. Overall not enjoyable at all despite much forward planning on my behalf and I will never ever return.

1st time eating at Cotto. Despite being very busy (there were 2 large groups dining when I was there) the service was very good. Probably one of the best risotto di mare’s I’ve had, there was so much seafood!

We had a working lunch and I can honestly say I’ve never had such a tasty lunch given the menu and the value. The Gamberoni Tagliatelle was filled with fresh prawns beautiful delicate sauce and the spinach side was superb. Even the soft drink was ice cold very high quality ingredients here and superb attention to detail. Such a great experience and fulfilling last minute lunch we will definitely be returning

I booked here having seen great reviews but wasn’t expecting too much. We walked from our accommodation in Whitefield to Cotto. We commented that if the area was anything to go by, we would remain sceptical. We needn’t have worried. We received a warm welcome, enjoyed amazing food in lovely surroundings, with good service and left discussing what excuse we could use to return to the area so we could go back to this wonderful place.

My friend booked Cotto at 7.30 on Saturday evening. It's a nice restaurant but the tables are quite small for 4 people. It was absolutely packed and extremely noisy so having a conversation was difficult. We haven't been out together for over a year so it was a bit disappointing that we couldn't all have a conversation. I had the Penne pasta with asparagus & salmon. There was too much pasta and hardly any salmon, just tiny bits. I can't remember what the others had but they were all pasta dishes. We all had dessert, me and hubby had the cheesecake which was quite different to any we have had before because it had a sort of jelly on it. One had Panna cota and one had Tiramasu. The staff were really nice and the waiter was funny. He apologised for how rammed the restaurant was. But personally, I am not sure I would go back. I much prefer Vero Moderno in Salford and Ciao Napoli in Bolton.

My daughter held her baby shower at Cotto and it was excellent l couldn't find fault with it. The food was top notch and the staff are welcoming and super efficient. I would highly recommend the restaurant whether it be for a meal or an event!

Went with my boyfriend for dinner and the food was delicious! Literally didn’t have to wait that long either and everything tasted so fresh. Will definitely be coming back.

Just had a lovely evening at Cotto in Whitefield, our first time and will definitely not be the last, the food was lovely and the service was very personalised and attentive. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance, clean modern and relaxing. We ate the salmon pasta and seafood rissota which was cooked to perfection, my husband said the Tiramassu was the best he had ever tasted. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Just had an amazing impromptu date night at Cotto this evening. Despite not having a booking, we were warmly welcomed and seated promptly. The fresh Italian food was outstanding, and the service was exceptional. It turned out to be a perfect evening filled with delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere.
