Went for light lunch today and it was lovely. Food was lovely and portions were a good size and desserts were to die for. Service was second to none. Food was lovely and warm and served on warm plates. One waitress, Jade, that happened to serve our table was so helpful, pleasant and nothing was to much bother to her, in fact a real asset to cotters. Would recommend to ask for table in conservatory, if possible

The restaurant has a new dining area is a conservatory with double glazed outside walls and roof. The light bites meal at lunch was really nice and the food is freshly cooked in the main kitchen. There were 5 of us and we were all pleased with our meals.

Have not visited here for sometime but still the usual high standard. Great choice of menu and reasonably priced. Charming, chatty staff. Brown and white toast to start with(perhaps more like warm bread than toast!!) More than adequate portions served and nicely presented. Choice of tea or coffee with lovely warm oven scones with butter and jam and delightful cakes. Lovely views over the sea and Maidens village. This is a must visit place.

We were staying in the area and looking for somewhere for Easter Lunch. We stumbled across Cotters and thought we would go for a look before booking. At first glance we were a bit confused as this is situated at Malin Court which is both a Hotel and residential home but were shown around and invited to look at the restaurant before booking. We were assured that the menu could be flexible if it didnt suit the Children and so we booked. We arrived for dinner and were seated immediately by very friendly waiting staff and the orders were taken quickly. A lovely meal followed with plenty of choice and attentive staff throughout. The food was tasty and reasonably priced at £15 for two courses and £18 for three. The restaurant was light airy and very warm and welcoming. After we had eaten and had coffees the children were given an Easter egg which was a lovely touch as was the homemade fudge that came with the coffee. We felt very welcome here and had a lovely Easter meal so would come again if in the area.

Following a very stressful day,we decided to eat at Cotters. We had stayed here about 4 years ago and really enjoyed the whole Marlin Court experience. Tonights meal was excellent. I had lamb and my wife had haddock. The portions were very good and the food tasty. !y decided against a pud.I pigged out on the cheeses and biscuits. Tje cheeses were lovely, not enough biscuits though. I will forgive them that as I was completely stuffed. The service was friendly and quick. The prices were very good to. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Service excellent by Nathalie and Liz however steak on the first night my husbands was Ok mine small and fatty. Second night Darren had Lamb which he said was served with a tomato sauce that overpowered the lamb. I had Duck that was very rubbery more like liver. On both nights the accompaniments was mixed veg which was a bit canteenish and not very exciting for the price.

Stayed in the Malin Court whilst going to a family wedding nearby. Dinner in Cortez's Restaurant was really delicious and all freshly cooked and nicely garnished. The Chicken Liver Parfait with Spiced Plum Chutney was really good, then Deep fried Fillet of Sole was really fresh and delicious. Managed to squeeze in a dessert- Brandy Snap Discs with Strawberries, Cream and Ice Cream was divine Compliments to the kitchen team for a really lovely meal.

Ristorante ottimo, molto elegante, staff cortese e presente, senza invadenza.

Traditional Scottish high tea served late afternoon early evening. Very good value. Food first class. Staff extremely knowledgeable and proud about the local area and forthcoming events. Have also been here at lunchtime with my friend who is wheelchair bound. Easy access due to being adjacent to a residential/nursing home. Dinner menu equally delicious ( only thing i should add is dont have lunch beforehand ) !

Had a great High Tea last Sunday evening with friends. We love the High Tea and for the price you can fill your boots, so to speak. Two of us had the steak pie and one had the chicken with Stornoway black pudding. The steak pie just broke away under your fork and the gravy was a beautiful rich assortment of flavours. The chicken and haggis came with a creamy peppercorn sauce. All were served with mash, to-die-for flavoursome veg (I could have eaten more of the veg - so tasty) and chips. The High Tea has toast to start with and to finish off there's a cake stand with a selection of home-produced cakes, scones and fancies. Great to see the restaurant so busy - maybe the October holidays - and the waiting staff are to be congratulated - first class manners and such personable individuals. Looking forward to the next visit - hopefully before Easter 2016 if we can arrange a visit to see friends again. I'd highly recommend a High Tea visit - think it's between 5pm - 7pm. Thanks again to all the staff for making our visit most enjoyable once again!!

This is a resturant attached to an hotel and care home. This is pertenant, IMHO, because the resturant is also the main dining hall for the self reliant residents in the care home. This affects the ambience, lots of people sitting at tables alone, & probably the special menu which is very posh but easy to eat and digest . The specials menu was lactose heavy so we ate from the main menu. I did initially think it rather expensive but when we got out meal it was well worth the money we paid for it. I had a Scottish fish platter, it was heaving with fish. The bread rolls were fresh and probably baked on the premises. The vegitables were freshly cooked and delicous. My sister had the sea bass, which was also excellent but she was critical of the amount of oil drizzled over the meal. It was not neccessary and detracted from an otherwise excellent meal. The view from the restaurant was terrific and the meal was memorable in a good way.

A group of 7 of us visited on Saturday evening, what a time we had! Great surroundings, Really great food! I had a smoked haddock fillet that was the best ever, no complaints from any of the party except for the really generous portions which blew the diets. The cakes were a delight and we took the rest home because we couldn't finish them. I'd happily travel 300miles to eat it again! Super!

My wife and I visited cotters a few years back now and were both delighted with our meals. On second visit we took some new friends for a treat but we were dissapointed with our meals, they were cheaper than our first visit and this was clearly reflected in the quality of the food which was just ok and no where near as previous, dont think we will return, it made it worse that we took friends to impress but we were very dissapointed, my friend has never experienced crumbly pate before and I must admit it did not look good.to summerise with a question what has happened ?

What an interesting place. A hotel, restaurant and care home all on one large site - well worth looking up their website to fully understand the true ethos of the place. We opted for the traditional high tea, and we were not disappointed. A great selection of main meals followed by a traditional two tear cake-stand with a selection of scones, cakes ,tray bakes and meringue with fresh cream . Tea and coffee were offered as was the traditional toast . A great experience and so inexpensive. Our waitress was fantastic and added to the overall experience. Please do not be put off by the idea that there is a nursing home on site, it is a great concept. I love the idea that residents can choose to dine in the hotel or in their rooms, it was a pleasure to meet a few of the residents during our visit. We will definitely go back.

I've been visiting Malin court and their restaurant for decades now and keep coming back as they have a good mix of service, food and a great location. This time round we had our favourite meal of all, High Tea. You have a great selection of main courses to choose from that are all equally tasty and well portioned. With this you get inclusive Tea/Coffee and Toast and then Cakes to follow. What is not to love about that! More places should do High Tea.The staff are always welcoming and friendly, while the building itself it always warm and cosy. However, if you are booking on a Saturday, if there is a wedding on you might be in their second restaurant which isn't quite as nice a setting.Highly recommend this place and everyone who is travelling down this way should give it a go.

Congratulations and Thank You to all the Staff at Cotters Restaurant, Malin Court for the excellent Valentines Evening on 14th February 2014. From the glass of Prosecco on arrival to the lovely fresh red rose presented to the ladies on departure, the whole evening was 1st class. The Valentine Special Menu was priced at £25 per head, this was for 3 courses plus tea/coffee & petit fours and as previously mentioned included a glass of Prosecco on arrival and a fresh red rose for my wife – excellent value for money. The food was very tasty, filling and beautifully presented by the very attentive and professional waiting staff. The background music was just that, kept low in the background which made chatting very easy indeed. All in all a really good night out with delicious food served by well trained, professional staff in a lovely environment at a very reasonable price – well done Malin Court.

We were down in Girvan a few weeks ago and couldn't really find anywhere decent to have dinner before heading home. Popped into Dowhill Farm shop for fresh Ayrshire tatties which we saw the first time we stopped off for coffee etc. (washed and ready for the pot) and we asked the girl serving later in the day, if she could recommend somewhere for dinner. As I previously mentioned we had had coffee and scones at the Dowhill restaurant on the road down which in itself was really good - fresh scones/cakes and good tea/coffees. She recommended Cotters Restaurant at The Malin Court care home. We looked a bit baffled at this but she explained that the residents share the culinary expertise of the chefs and that the restaurant is around the back of the Malin Court. We got the phone number online and phoned up to see if they could fit the four of us in and they said "yes".We booked in for 6pm (High Tea is 5pm - 7pm I think they said then it's the dinner menu). What a beautiful setting which sits up above the small fishing village of Maidens. It's proper posh with starched table clothes/napkins and the menu was excellent even if you have a fussy eater. For anyone who remembers the old traditional High Tea well this is it! After ordering our main courses the waitress brought across hot toast (brown and white bread) with pots of unsalted butter already on the table. We ordered the chicken dishes, fish dishes and I'm sure I noted a vegetarian option there too. When the plates arrived they were hot-hot, which I like. The chips which were really nice (fluffy and dry) came in separate bowls soon after being served. After our mains were finished a cake stand was brought out - the tiered kind - with a selection of home made baking (hot scones, meringues, strawberry tarts etc.) this was really well presented and the tea/filtered coffee kept flowing with the excellent table service the staff laid on not just for us but for every table. We felt very relaxed and not hurried at all. The prices ranged from around £9 - £11 but for what we got from the service and the High Tea option, it was worth every penny. To reach the restaurant from the A77 take the Turnberry turn off, drive past the famous golf course and hotel and just before you reach Maidens the Malin Court sits up on the left. Don't be put off by the fact it doubles up as a care home for our older generation - we'll all be there soon enough and if we're back down that way in 2014 we'll most definitely be booking in for High Tea again and we've got the number stored on our phones already!Apparently they do a lot of functions as well (weddings etc.) but we visited on a Sunday evening.

Went on a small adventure to Coylton Arms Inn. I have to say we will be back, the food is very good, a well seasoned lasagna with plenty of herbs, nice béchamel sauce and a good salad and french fries. The only small criticism was the lack of staff which made the wait slightly longer than necessary. The staff themselves were extremely welcoming and the ambiance was charming without being twee. Portion size was good without being excessive. All in all an enjoyable experience that I would recommend for a pub lunch.

Excellent meal. Very busy. We just dropped in for lunch as we were passing, no reservation. Food presented well by good staff. If we were to be passing again I would book. Reasonable price if not a touch on the expensive side. Choices in the area are slightly limited if you are driving through, but we made a good choice going to Souters. I would recommend a visit but also that you book.
