Been a few times and ordered a few times from here. Partner called to place order and when asking for the price was told it was too busy. He said he just wanted to make sure he had the correct change, he then called my partner at tw#t not realising he hadn’t covered the phone. He cancelled the order and asked to speak to the manager, apparently he is the manager. First tried to claim he had called another customer a tw#t and when asked should he really be doing that, claimed he called a staff member a tw#t. Won’t be ordered or going ever again if that is how they speak to customers.

Really nice food but if you get a takeaway check your order first. This is the fourth time in a row my order has had missing items and it's not as though I've ordered at a busy time so it's getting really annoying. I've had the money refunded no problem but it's the missing food I want , not the refund !

Food is always lovely here. The fish dish, "Bengals Favourite Curry" is my go to main meal of all time, superb. We love to try their numerous starters / mains and to date haven't been disappointed. The quality of their food is very much up there and to our liking. Service has always been excellent with Paul and Faz deserving of a well earned mention.

Just ordered food from here first time and last time.took over 2hours to get delivered all food frozen cold. Asked for chicken kebab ended up with onion bagie.chips were frozen curry was all over the bag. Want a decent curry or food I strongly recommend not going this place.

We went for the first time for a family birthday meal, the food was lukewarm, the staff weren’t very helpful and were very unapproachable. My 2 year olds chicken nuggets were freezing cold also. Wouldn’t recommend and won’t be going again.

Really enjoyed our dinner here one evening! It was so affordable too! I cannot get over £3.50 for a large glass of wine! It was very tasty and enjoyable with friendly staff! Thank you, will be back!!!

We have previously collected takeaway from the Cottage Tandoori - always flavoursome, food value and suitable for coeliac. Eating in was a positive experience. The restaurant wasn't full, but there were several small groups including a couple of children, and one large group; staff were also busy with delivery and takeaway orders but still had time to be attentive. Clean and fresh table settings including crisp linen and more than adequate cutlery and crockery. Staff happy to give advice and answer questions about content of dishes (reassuring for coeliac in the group). All dishes were beautifully flavoured - lamb gurkali a particular favourite. Good portions too. Complementary Baileys at the end was a nice touch and most welcome on the palette. Recommended for groups of various sizes, couples, families, friends. Thank you!

What has happened to this once excellent Indian restaurant? We have been visiting the Cottage Tandoori for many years and have generally found it to be excellent. My sister in law visits regularly as she is Coeliac and so has to have gluten free food and this restaurant has always obliged. When we visited on 9th April 2022, as a group of 4, my sister in law, as always, made it clear that her order of Chicken Biriani had to be gluten free. The waiter did write it down but clearly didn't understand, and so to be sure my sister in law also told the manager (owner?). The two starters for me and brother in law arrived relatively quickly. I was still eating my starter after my brother in law had finished his . As u was still eating a waiter reached across me to take the plate of my brother in law, basic bad manners and poor form. The waiter then said sarcastically to me "take your time, we are open until late". I was too shocked by his out of order attitude to respond. We then endured a 35 minute wait for our main courses, during which a waiter did apologise but saying it was because they were busy with takeaways (the restaurant was only about a third full). The rest of the Neal was uneventful. However, not long after arriving home, 3 of the four of us were very ill with bad stomachs. My sister in law, in particular, was extremely ill. For the uninitiated, eating Gluten can cause Coeliacs to be extremely ill and can eventually lead to cancer. My sister in law phoned the restaurant the next day to tell them what had happened. They were not interested. This has been our last visit to this establishment.

With my family and was eating my curry and observed a waiter take his shoe and sock off, pick his toes. He put his sock and shoe back on and carried on serving. Disgusting and made me heave.

Jest received takeaway order the food is very tasty. Starter is also very tasty. Good service. See you very soon.

Food is fantastic but the older waiter is rude and has no customer skills. Started to just get take away, he was worse. Will never go back there. Other staff fantastic.

As a family we have punctuated many family celebrations with curry. Curry cottage has consistently provided Great curries for birthdays first pay checks great exam results and my sons 20th birthday was no exception Thank you curry cottage for providing great curries in a friendly atmosphere for many years. Long may it continue

Had another meal tonight. We have been going to this place since we moved to Walkden in 2003. Never disappointed. Great staff,amazing food if we eat in or take away.

We always enjoy our meal at cottage tandoori , it’s a regular for our girls night out . Fantastic service and yummy food 10/10 .

We booked a table for 8 people for 6.30, on arrival it became clear we were not sitting down for quite a while, it was very busy We were then ignored by staff even when we went to the bar to order some drinks. Eventually we did order drinks and told they would be brought to our table, We sat down at a half cleaned and half set table. Our drinks were still on the bar 15 minutes after we had sat down, when they arraived they were warm. We eventually ordered and got our starter at 7.45 some 45 minutes after sitting down we were told sorry it was very busy due to a very large party (sorry but that is your problem to sort out), the starters arrived in dribs and drabs and were warm at best, We did not complain as we were very hungry especially the kids. At this stage our party is getting more annoyed especially after ordering the same drinks 3 times with diferent staff. Eventually our main course arrived again they did not come at the same time. The rice was cold and the meals were barely warm, we sent the rice back. The evening was completely ruined by now with waiting around ignorant staff cold food and warm drinks. what should have been a nice family birthday meal turned out to be a terrible evening,absolute joke. On paying the bill we mentioned a few of our problems where again we were told we were very busy tonight, like thats our fault or problem. the front of house said it wont happen again. how right he is, we will never go back again.

Do not order if you actually want to receive your foodWaited two hours, finally had a call from the delivery driver, making no sense, who despite having our full address and postcode, couldn't find our house and had gone to the other side of Salford. He proceeded to call back and was incapable of following a satnav or listening to us trying to direct him ourselves. He kept asking what he wanted us to do about it... food never came. Terrible customer service

A fantastic local restaurant with friendly staff and a great menu to choose from.I have eaten in and had take away from this place for many years and it never disappoints.If you eat in the service is good and the staff are always helpful and friendly. They accommodate children and try to ensure everyone has a great experience.The take away food is as just as good at home as it is in the restaurant and the free bottle of wine or beer if you spend over £30 is a nice touch.Would highly recommend this restaurant and already looking forward to our next visit.

Recently on a Saturday Evening we decided to have an Indian meal and decided to try the Cottage Tandoori as we hadn't been before. . As we hadn't been before I booked a table for six as I wasn't sure how busy it would be. However when we arrived it was very quiet. I ordered some drinks and popadoms while we perused the menu. We both had the mixed starters followed by chicken Balti for myself while my partner had a lamb Shashlik. We shared a portion of pilau rice and garlic Naan bread. Mine was very good and while my partner enjoyed her Shashlik I think she missed having a sauce. Some Indian restaurants include a sauce with the Shashlik. Overall the service was reasonable with the courses being served promptly and efficiently. The issue was ordering new drinks. After I had finished my first pint of Cobra there wad no sign of any waiters. I eventually spotted one some distance away near the entrance. After a while I managed to attract his attention of away from whatever he was doing on his mobile phone. I had a similar exercise when I came to order my next drink. Between courses there appeared to be few staff around. Overall it was quite good and very reasonable value for money despite the issue with the service. We will be trying it again.

This curry house can be found in central Walkden and is well worth a visit...The menu offers plenty of choice for lovers of Indian & Bangladeshi cuisine - all the classic curry dishes plus chef specials & recommendations...The food is delicious and reasonably priced... plus the service wonderful... we enjoyed our recent visit with friends...The interior decor is modern, with plenty of seating... plus the restaurant caters for children and large parties...If you're looking for a tasty curry then the Cottage Tandoori is a great restaurant... also offers takeaway service...

Have tried all the Curry houses in Walkden are and this is by far the best by miles. Our favourite and the staff are so friendly

This place is sincerely underrated! The outside might put people off because it's not as glitzy as the other curry houses in Walkden but you can't knock the food and service. Been around for years and still doing it right.

The Chicken Pakora starter never came with a sauce. The lamb in my lamb tikka vindaloo wasn,t good...far too chewy...The sauce was good but not being able to chew the lamb spoilt the meal.

There are now 3 Indian restaurants in the centre of Walkden. 2 of them may look more glitzy and modern but that's not everything. Cottage Tandoori has been around for years now, it has had a sympathetic make over since I last reviewed it but it is the food and service that make a restaurant not the lights. Cottage Tandoori does all the classics and takes on the not so common offerings. The staff are extremely friendly the service is good, not overbearingly attentive but always on hand when they need to be. If you go early as we tend to do you may have a little longer to wait for your food but that's OK just grab a drink and go with the flow. Our last visit was last Friday ( 26th Jan ) at around 6ish, there were 6 others in there, and 4 waiting for takeouts. By 7 more than half the tables were occupied. The great advantage is that it is not a big place like the other 2 in Walkden, so they cope with the diners they get easily and it shows. Go earlier in the week if you can as you get the staff at their most relaxed and happy to chat with regulars or new customers. If you are looking for a good meal in an established place, then don't look any further. Forget the glitz and pile 'em in establishments, Cottage Tandoori has been doing it right for ages now and deserves to be recognised for all the effort they put in day in day out.

Went here on Saturday evening for the first time and I will go back again It was an eccellent meal from start to finish which was a free Bailys very nice indeed

Visited early evening Wednesday 27th September 2017. We were first in the restaurant at 5:15 and my friend was looking forward to a Cottage Tandoori Chicken Balti Cham Cham. We have visited the restaurant twice before and been very pleased with the quality of our meals.

Ordered a takeaway and wasn't disappointed first time we used it and it was lovely and hot didn't disappoint

Went in tuesday for a girls treat out . All 4 of us had different dishes and they were all superb . I Recommend the house white wine as well it was lovely .

Never had a bad meal here and with the New restaurants, Red Sea and Purple Lounge attracting a lot of attention, its worth saying that this restaurant can compete and even better the new boys. Given a choice between here and the Purple Lounge, i'd choose here every time.

Poor food poor service I like fairly hot curry like madras, the madras in here was very mild , took 10 minutes to get the bill and it wasn't even busy.

Visited on Saturday evening...staff were friendly and professional. The restaurant was comfortable and immaculately presented. Both our meals were delicious and exactly as we ordered. Will be visiting again....thanks.

Food could not be better. The staff were polite. The only draw back was the time in between courses. Too long. It has happened several times now. Won't be going back.

Staff are very friendly. Food is excellent. Try Lamb Rogan Josh always really tasty and the Tandoori dishes are to die for. Wine and drinks are a very reasonable price. This place has been open for at least 20yrs. They also do great deals, on a Sunday you can have a Starter, Main, Rice or Nan and tea or coffee for £10 per person. You can beat that for a Sunday treat.

We went there for a meal and from the beginning till the end the service was excellent,very good Indian food at reasonable prices,we will definitely go there again.

I have been visiting this restaurant regularly for more than 10 years and thought it was time I gave it the great review it deserves.My most recent visit was on Christmas Eve. My boyfriend and I had been let down by another local restaurant that failed to record my booking, so attended The Cottage without a reservation and the staff got us a table within 15 minutes despite being very busy!As ever, the food was delicious and the service so friendly. We had the Christmas Eve menu, which offered a generous selection to choose from and was great value for money at £24.95 per head. My main course of Salmon Karahi was particularly good (pictured).I will continue to visit The Cottage regularly in the future as it's consistently good; and on Christmas Eve they saved the day for us!

This is a very nice Indian restaurant, I've live near this place for 35 years and surprisingly this was the first time I've tried it. I was really impressed. The food was very good and unhurried.

We eat here about once per month and we haven't had a bad meal yet. It may lack a bit of atmosphere, or ambience, but the staff are friendly & we have never failed to get a table even on the last minute. The menu is pretty varied with several 'specials' & they serve the usual Indian lagers. The toilets are spotless & the restaurant is also very clean.

We regularly dine in or get our Indian takeaway from Cottage. It was one of the first and definitely the best Indian restaurants around Walkden/Worsley area. The food is what stands out. The location is not the most attractive facing the petrol station and next to the stocks pub but is easily accessible and has plenty of parking. The food never disappoints it's always fresh tasty and served hot. The meat saag is a favourite of mine and my husband swears by the madras.

Absolutely the best curry for miles!!! It's our favourite Indian restaurant ever!!!! Great service especially when ordering a take away. Always prompt and food is freshly cooked!!!

Awesome little Indian restaurant, great food, and great service. I'm a regular and loyal customer here, and I keep coming back because the quality is beyond compare in the local area, and the staff (particularly Paul) are a really nice bunch. It's always clean and well presented, and we've never left disappointed yet. Cannot recommend this place enough, honestly, give it a try.

I have to say this is a lovely place to eat, and the food is gorgeous. We just feel there is not enough king prawn in the curry, and it is also chopped up smaller to look like there is more. When a complaint went to the manager he wasn't happy at all and made us feel Like we should keep our mouths shut and just eat it. So its fair to say we won't be visiting again!!. We also feel that there is an over price on the food. Such a shame cos the majority of staff are fabulous and welcoming, and our young one loved it!!.

Four of us were driving around visiting sites and wanted Indian food. We found the restaurant on line and took a chance. The wait staff was incredibly pleasant. The place was empty early on a Wednesday and we were at first a bit worried. We opted for the "mid week 8.95 special" and got any starter and main course off the menu, plus rice, chips and salad. We had vegetable madras, chicken tikka madras, mixed meat grill and green herb chicken. For starters mixed grill, mixed vegetable and vegetable samosas. The food arrived in nice timely intervals, was piping hot and very flavorful. The vegetable pakora was a bit mushy, onion baji was crisp, samosas were a bit small, but very tasty. The main dishes were plentiful and excellent. Great value for money in a pleasant atmosphere with really nice people. Would definitely go again.

I'm a frequent visitor here, because it is the best choice by a mile. The food and staff are great, there is a good menu to choose from you can get there by bus ( they stop right outside ) or by car plenty of parking. There's usually a table if you just walk in, but it's never empty so they have it just right. You may sometimes have to wait for your food, but not for to long and its worth the wait. They do take aways as well which are just as good, ring up or go sit and have a beer while you wait.

Had a take away meal for 6 and the dishes were of good standard. Good value and quality. The restaurant is conveniently place. Never disappoints.

So myself and a mate were working late in the area and decided to stop for some exotic Indian food.Outside there is a car park that can fit up to 15 vehicles and is off the main road.The decor is just enough and pleasant.The waiters were warm and complimentary engaging in conversation at our table. The service was good also.It was our lucky night as wednesday nights they do a three course meal for a good price. Under a tenner!For a starter we had the chilli poppadoms (not sure on spelling), they were spicy and crunchy never had them before and they were lovely! Also for starters we had a mix grill, lamb, chicken, tandori flavours and an onion banjo! It was tasty tasty! I ordered the exotic mix for my main which had no prawns, chicken, lamb an d a boiled egg in a tomato sauce! Lovely food and very hearty. If you want more spice ask!My friend ordered a chicken saag which had spinach in the sauce. We shared the pilau rice and the naan bread which were both freshly made.To finish we had a warm hanky to wipe our hands and a after eight chocolate to go. My partner and I visited this restaurant and the staff were very polite ,and helpful in choosing what meal they suggested. We opted for the buffet all u can eat,and we was impressed by the choices from the menu. The salmon karhari was out of this world the flavours were amazing. And the tandoori king prawn was nice. I would recommend this restaurant and we will be visiting it again in the future.

Gone downhill recently, regular visitor last night had to wait over an hour for starters which never arrived, walked out

I've often driven past this place and not given it a second thought, but on a whim we decided to try it. We received a warm welcome when we arrived and shown immediately to a table, the décor is nice and everything was clean and well presented. The service was good although I must admit the staff could do with cheering up a little. The food however was the star of the show, I thought the portions were a little small but realised that it was just enough without over facing. I couldn't fault the food it was well presented and very tasty. Found it a little on the expensive side (£20pp for a main and poppadoms) but I rather pay that little extra for quality.

Nipped in at the end of a Friday night service as it was across the road from where we'd been working. The interior was brighter and better furnished than the frontage suggests, and we were quickly sat in a retro booth which was comfortable. The menu is broad with a good mix of the usual stuff and some interesting specialities. Beer was cold and well poured. Poppadums were great and the lime pickle in particular was nice. Mrs Dubya's prawn karahi was well flavoured but not too spicy, and my chicken shashlik was well seasoned and cooked with juicy chicken pieces. All reasonably priced and a good spot for a non-Wetherspoons curry in central Walkden!

I like this place and want to say what is good about it but I ordered a King Prawn Byriani and got rice and chopped up bits of prawn. I complained and was given a further attempt with about 5 prawns after I had to explain that King Prawn should be exactly what it says, yet I couldn't see a whole prawn! Anyway management looked disgruntled and offered very little assistance in sorting the matter and still charged for the meal in its entirety. So much could have been learned and yet I don't know if it has as I wont go back now. Shame too.

Food is really nice and well priced,but the place lacks any kind of atmosphere. We eat here quite a lot but tend to leave as soon as we've finished our meal

My friends and I go here fairly often and I am not a lover of Indian Food!They are very helpful when i am trying to chose and to date I have had nothing I didn't like.It is very pleasant surroundings and decor and the price is reasonable too.I am surprised at some of the other reviewers comments.My experiences here have been consistently good both staff and food wise.

The food has always been and still is fantastic. All but one of the staff are also very good but unfortunately the shorter in size of the two waiters (not the owner or gentleman who generally works the bar) who are always on duty when we attend can only be described as nothing but rude and ignorant. He actually snatched a menu from my wife's hands this evening as she was attempting to pass it to him. He is lacking any kind of customer service skills and a sense of humour and comes across as being extemely unhappy with his line of work. This is our favourite Indian restaurant but we are seriously considering taking our business to somewhere we will be made to feel welcome in the future.

This place used to be one of my favourite haunts. As the staff have changed over the years the place has deteriorated. The food is below average and the head waiter is particularly rude and unhelpful.

This is my local but even after trying others nearby this one never fails! Either takeaway or eat in I always enjoy our meal! Not sure about issues mentioned with portion sizes; my partner and I can share a starter and main and still be full on the way out! Sometimes there can be a wait, but not unreasonable and not when the place is empty! One of our favourities is the mixed starter and lamb madras...and nothing is ever too much for the staff, so if you want to request something different just ask :) Decor is also ok too- unless you expect to sit in an art gallery!

First time eating here despite its proximity to home and our love of Indian food. This place is a throw-back to the 60s & 70s in more ways than one. The decor is a bit twee and slightly dated, the curries, however, were a startling reminder of the curries of yesteryear, brilliant.Starters of Chat & Puri were not very spicy which worried us slightly but the mains were the highlight. Mrs D had her customary Vindaloo which was very hot & spicy, my Jalfrezi the same & our 3rd diner's Bhuna was given the thumbs up.Will return soon-probably just have a main course!

Cottage Tandoori is a nice modern type of restaurant.the only problems i found was the food portions where a little small as i was not 100% full after a starter and main! also the wait on food when it wasn't that busy, the wait was not so bad as it was only around 30 minuets but waiting that length of time after a starter you start to get really hungry.the food in general was really tasty and well presented. the staff where very friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for you, so i will be giving another visit very soon but might order a few extra items...... but over all pretty good :)

We go to cottage most weeks. Great staff and friendly. Food is lovely. No complaints only that drinks need to come faster :0)

Our second visit. Food was really nice, tasty, quality, hot, well presented and generally top notch. Service was very poor. 1 hour wait to be served from ordering when restaurant wasn' t that busy. Had to complain about the wait especially when later arrivals were served their food before we were! We were starving by the time the food arrived. So food was very good but not worth the 1 hour wait. Staff were attentive and friendly enough but couldn't explain the wait or the fact the other late arrivals were served first. The only other gripe was the staff's failure to curtail the antics of customer's children running riot around the restaurant, playing hide and seek, shrieking, standing on the chairs and generally treating the restaurant as a play park. We will give this restaurant one more go and hope that the service and play park noise has improved. The food is excellent.

really good food and atmosphere the staff are great excellent service and was a good change of idea for a meal we first decided to go to the bulls head but as it was jam packed but this was the better choice will be visiting that place again

Been 3 times and continues to provide a very good night out. Good menu with a wide choice for adults although child options are limited. Excellent service and good value for money. Not the trendiest decor or the greatest atmosphere but the food makes up for this.

I'm giving the restaurant an average only by virtue of the food being quite nice, on the whole. The prices are not too bad but the trade off is small portions ( including the rice with main meals and small nan breads ). The rice was not very hot either when it arrived. My biggest complaint was the standard of service. we waited a long time for our main meals and had to wait 15 minutes for one drink to arrive and had to remind staff several times. We also had to ask several times for the bill at the end of the meal and waited what felt like an age for this to arrive at our table. The restuarant was not full so feel that service should have been much better not that being busy should ever be an excuse.

We've been going to the Cottage for years but it dipped a little of the past two years. We went on Fathers Day and the food and service was wonderful. Fresh ingredients, cooked well, very tasty. So glad that this place is back up to scratch.

I live round the corner from the Cottage and the amazing smells drift across to tempt me on a regular basis. Despite the lack of appeal of the exterior (which is a bit run down) the food and service are consistently very good. I am a bit of a fussy eater but staff go out of their way to adapt the menu to suit my taste. We regularly take friends who have all enjoyed the food. Overall I would highly recommend trying the cottage!

Ate there over weekend early Saturday tea time when the restaurant was empty.... Food was pretty average Indian cuisine, staff were attentive enough, bit on the pricey side. Don't think the decor or menu has changed in years, doesn't compete with other Indian restaurants in area such as The Antelope in L/H which has much better food and is much more modern.... OK though for a early tea, late night curry after pub or take away, prob not my choice for a night out but food is nice enough.

We sometimes go to the tandoori because we live down the road. The place from the outside looks average and bit run down but don't judge a book by its cover. The curry is great and the staff are very very friendly. Good naan bread as well . Worth a visit.

Although the exterior was a little run down, the food was really great and very good value for money. I would definitely recommend the restaurant and, of in the area again, I would come here.
