Côte Cardiff Bay in Cardiff

Im a big fan of the Cote chain but yesterdays meal was bang average. Mussels had been left under the heat lamps for too long and top layer were dried out and chewy.

food still really very tasty.. Would recommend to go. Fab staff and service as. New menu really good as well

The food was fine but limited options, very small portion sizes for the price and just nothing special. It's the first time I've been to a Cote because I always thought they were a bit posh for me.

We had a lovely birthday meal at Cote Cardiff Bay on Sunday. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Its a beautiful restaurant and felt really special, and the location near the waterfront is wonderful.

Another really memorable visit to Cote in the Bay - superb food enjoyed by both of us - particularly impressed by the Creme Brule - recommend to anyone.

I will definitely return for a special occasion, as this was a fantastic choice! The food was lovely The only thing I noticed was that it was a bit too loud, but since it was a football day, it had more of a pub atmosphere rather than a restaurant vibe that day. Anyway, the team made my day special and it was a great experience

We ate there last Wednesday - the food was very nice and the service was very good. Mario and the kitchen team paid attention to my colleague's complex allergies and made a meal that was adapted for her. There are lots of chain restaurants in the Bay, but we came here because when I was phoning around to see who could take a group of 12 and handle one person's allergies respectfully without making her look demanding in front of new colleagues, Mario answered the phone and demonstrated what professional customer service should look like. He knew immediately what Cote's team would be able to do and didn't over-promise but gave me confidence that my colleague would not be left hungrily watching people eat and would not be made to feel bad for having allergies. I had been unpleasantly surprised that other restaurants did not respond as kindly as Mario. My colleague said Cote are usually pretty good, including a good gluten free menu. The food was well presented and well seasoned and the other staff were attentive too. Bottled water was a bit pricey. The restaurant was easily accessible for my colleague who cannot use stairs as it is quite well spaced out and flat.

Not very French at all: the staff are polite and attentive and the kitchen is efficient.

Great for pre theatre dinner. Be sure to npok on theatre nights. We booked at 5pm and it was empty but 40 minutes later there were no tables! Great cocktails and fast service. Despite being the first table we managed to get the last mackerel dish so we were lucky! Food was tasty, had starters and mains. Were timely, good size and hot - can't ask for more!

Simple French food at expensive English prices. But with fresh tastes and nice service you don't mind. I have to say coming at around £50/head for our 3 course meal does not sound too bad. The dishes all tastes authentic and freshly made but may be on the small side. Which is why I feel it could be better value. That said, service was very friend in a cosy atmosphere and you are not rushed. So all in all a nice meal out.

Really appreciated the level of service provided and the food was great. We went in for a fast meal before going to see Hamilton. After explaining we only had an hour, we ordered as soon as we were sat. Unfortunately after asking for an update after 30mins, we were told there was a miscommunication and our order wasn't put in. Staff were really apologetic and swift at rectifying the error and we were so impressed by the customer service. Food was brought within 10mins. Mistakes happen and even though we were disappointed to be rushed, we were also so appreciative for staff making sure we we didn't go hungry before the theatre. Thank you Cote.

Difficult pre-theatre experience. We booked a table for 5.45pm needing to be in the theatre by 7.30. We thought this would be plenty of time - has never been a problem in other restaurants. However, approaching 6.50 and still no sign of main courses. 2 of us had already eaten starters so it wasn't so bad, but two elderly diners wanted mains and desserts, so the upshot was trying to rush food and pay-and-go, a conveyer-belt experience rather than an enjoyable meal. I would not recommend.

Disappointed. I ordered a 2-course set and the main course was upgraded to sirloin steak. However, the steak was cold as the compound butter for the steak not even melt/ soften.

Don’t have the steak. Pre WMC meal. Awful fillet steak. Took them three attempts. Two other steaks cold, the sirloin had piece of butter on it that had zero chance of melting. In fairness the manager was exceptionally apologetic, took the meal off the bill and offered a bottle of wine to take away which we didn’t take. Cooking a fresh steak really isn’t difficult. Have had issues there in the past but gave it another go as had a couple of decent Cote meals in London. Never again.

The steak was absolutely awful, ordered steak frites with medium rare, and it was more like a boiled steak with some butter on top. The steak tasted more like it’s recooked, instead of cooking it fresh, atrocity!

Clean sweep. Cannot fault a thing about cote.

Came on the 30th of December for are Christmas meal , there was 6 of us the service was terrible waited 35 minutes for a drink, never had the starter that we wanted , as we were given are main meal my friends still never had there starter , I refused to pay and we walked out and had to go chip shop , as everywhere was booked up , are day was reunion, it's more like a weather spoons never again

We had a wonderful pre theatre meal recently at cote brasserie. The food was delicious and service fantastic. There was a misunderstanding on our part with the main course order but the staff insisted on bringing us a new main course even though it appeared we ordered the wrong one. I only wish we didn’t have to rush off to the theatre as we had such a wonderful time.

We had a brilliant evening here, our waiter was fantastic, friendly and made us feel comfortable (unfortunately we did not get his name) the food and drinks came promptly and were all of top quality - belly pork and duck highly recommended, gorgeous. It was very loud (as to be expected on a Saturday evening) but the venue is beautiful and everyone was chatting and happy, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience

Visiting Cardiff for 24 hours and wanted something a little special for our last evening in the city. Was served by a amazing young woman who was friendly and such a pleasure to be looked after. I tried a new cocktail, and gave some feedback once I'd finished. I thought not much more of it, but later she brought me another taking in consideration my feedback! Wow, what amazing service. The whole meal was delicious and Worth the money. Thanks for making our experience a good one!

Had really great time service was excellent was the food

We visited Cotes for lunch before a show at WMC. As always it was packed so make sure you book ahead. Good range of options on the menu for most dietary requirements. We tried the cheese souffle and warm tomato salad for starters followed by a mushroom bourguignon and baked ratatouille for mains. All the food was perfectly cooked and well flavoured, four clean plates. Crème caramel and café gourmand for dessert. Lovely meal served by friendly and attentive staff. Excellent atmosphere as well.

We were promptly welcomed at the door and given a table by the window since quite a few large parties were well into their meals in a few parts of the large restaurant and some had been and gone already. It was only about 8pm so I was quite surprised. Some options were therefore unavailable and this hadn't been a problem until two of our party wanted to order dauphinoise potatoes but couldn't because the restaurant had run out. Had we wanted to order steaks two types of those were also completely out of stock. The waiter asked us if there was an event in town as they had been extremely busy all day. We had no idea but maybe simply the nice weather, possibly the last warm weather of summer, may have inspired people to come out more. I ordered a cheese souffle and fish parmentier with a side order of french beans. All of the items I ate were delicious as was the merlot wine we had with it. My fellow diners also enjoyed their food. We were served well for the most part and were the last but two party to leave. Atmosphere was quite good, better when it was busier but by the end of our meal it was quite quiet.

We went there for an early (5.30 pm) birthday meal before going to the WMC to see Grease. Cadi our waitress was great. Chatty, helpful, and not overbearing. I had the charcuterie starter with toasted sourdough. It was good, but needed some chutney or similar as it was too dry with just bread and ham. The minute steak and frites was good and our bottle of Sauvignon Blanc hit the spot. The fixed price menu is pretty good value. The bill - 3 fixed price menus, bottle of wine, two double espressos came to £98.40 (including 10% service which had been automatically added to the bill).

Faultless. Service was excellent as was food. First time I have visited and I will definitely be returning. Food was better than certain highly rated restaurants in Cardiff. My friend and I were going to the theatre but I’d travel to Cardiff just to eat at Cote.

We had a great dinner on the bank holiday Monday , we were well look after, food and service was great. The fish stew was absolutely amazing!!!

We booked a table for 3 of us after seeing Blood Brothers at the Wales millennium theatres opposite. Great location, accessible, flat. Pleasant staff who had a gluten free menu ready for me, which was great. I had the Breton fish stew with loads of mussels, prawns and a piece of white fish in a delicious tomato-y sauce and gluten free bread. My partner enjoyed the duck a l'orange and my sister-in-law enjoyed her Parmentier fish (like fish pie). We shared a bottle of Pouilly-Fume white wine. 2 had the Café Groumands, coffee with 3 mini desserts, all very tasty and I had the creme brulee with macerated strawberries on top. Lovely decor. Food was so tasty I would definitely go again and recommend highly. They do add a 10% service charge though.

7.54am on a Sunday. Been for a run to the Bay. Nothing open. Cote doesnt open till 9am however the lovely Melissa offered me an espresso as she was getting set up for the day. I work in Restaurants and its little moments of hospitality like this which make me so proud to work in this industry. Thanks Melissa you literally made my day!

You are always welcomed and professionally seated and cared for at Côte. The food is good, the wine reasonably priced and well chosen, and you have the impression of a medium priced restaurant somewhere in France. What more could you want?

Incredibly friendly staff - nothing too much trouble (especially our waiter, Nick). Food lovely and atmosphere great.

We started with cocktails, but both were disappointing. The Fleur Spritz tasted like a basic gin and tonic, and the French 75 lacked any fizz. This put us off ordering food, so we left. I was also frustrated by the slow service, especially since I paid a 10% service charge. I don't recommend this place.

Called in for breakfast on Saturday morning. I had a latte, juice and eggs florentine. My husband and son had the eggs royale. Great service, lovely chilled vibe. Visiting the bay in 2 weeks with my mother and will definitely visit again for breakfast.

We had a birthday dinner at Cote and it was exceptional. The service was great, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were very efficient and attentive. We had a lovely evening.

Went into Cote after some shopping. Service was pretty good. Promptly asked what drinks we wanted. Wife asked for a Bloody Mary I asked for a coke. About 5 mins they came back and said they didn’t have any tomato juice so the she ordered a cote royal. We then ordered olives and bread as our starter and both had the beef cheek bourguignon with mashed potatoes, mushrooms and carrots. Which was so tasty and filling. We didn’t have room for dessert. Would definitely go back.

Worst food and experience I’ve ever had. 2 in our party had food poisoning from the mussels, the steak was thin as anything and the chicken was bland! All the food was also served luke warm. Go elsewhere for a nice evening meal as this place definitely isn’t worth the price!!

Great cheeses. Mussels in Breton soup were not cooked and no fish. Moules arrived cold and had to be returned. We got money off but rarely have I had such a poor meal. The microwave technician must have had a bad day.

The food was good, fresh, very tasty, amazing coffee. The audience seemed quiet "old", but it could be by coincidence. The service was fine and precise, we tasted the meat and fish food as well. Excellent desserts.

Hit and miss. Most food arrived hot, except the creamed spinach. It never came back after asking to reheat it. The onion soup had the cheese on two slices of toasted bread and not covering the soup. The broth was on the peppery side. The Breton fish stew was tasty, with a lot of mussels.

What can I say done my homework for a nice meal for my partners? Birthday came over from Manchester this came up as the number one restaurant on Cardiff Bay had the starter chicken pate the bread was in edible supposed to be toast nearly broken my teeth don’t know what to say about the Pate but I’ve had a lot better. Thought we would order truffle triple cooked chips turns out they were just bought standard frozen chips at least you would think they would be making home-made chips and to add insult to injury. They charged a pound extra to change from Fry to chips. Peppercorn sauce was an extra £3 Which was called and sent back broken seat and someone have not flushed them you think in a place like this with the price they are charging it would be a lot better. The only thing I could say is the staff were lovely. I don’t know about the chef, though, in a pair of shorts .

It was a lovely birthday for my boyfriend. The service was AMAZING! The food was soooo tasty and we will definitely come back!
