Cote Brasserie - Salisbury in Wiltshire

I have visited your restaurants in both Cirencester and Winchester and yesterday 15th November, my boss took myself and a client to Cote Salisbury for lunch. We arrived as booked at 2pm and were shown to our table by a very abrupt, not altogether welcoming, relatively young woman. A very nice waitress took our order and made a great, up sell, suggesting that a bottle of Malbec, which she advised was a very good choice, might be better rather than 2 large glasses of same. As she said we could always walk with it. Starters arrived no real problem, 2 salads and a luke warm soup! Not how I would serve it at home! We then waited 45 minutes and our empty plates were still in front of us. At this point my boss stacked up the plates, dish and cutlery and carried them to a member of staff and asked when we could expect our main courses. I must point out that our original waitress appeared to have gone off duty. Our mains 1 Sea Bass and 2 Steak and Frites finally appeared and all were good. After we had finished we again had to attract the attention of, this time the abrupt young woman, to request the dessert menu. We immediately ordered 2 desserts and an Americano with HOT milk. She brought me the coffee almost immediately with COLD milk. Oh so irritating, but she did change it. The desserts arrived in a timely manner and were followed immediately with, you guessed it the bill. Needless to say we were the last people in the restaurant. The front of house staff were in no way working the whole restaurant and it meant that 3 ladies walked out of Cote saying that they would not be going there again. Can you really afford to loose customers in this way? We hear so much about how much the hospitality industry suffered during the pandemic and how it is still struggling.

4 of us visited for my daughters birthday, arranged by her boyfriend. They were sharing a starter, my partner and I ordered our own. Everyone's starters arrived, and were consumed but I was still waiting for mine, then the manager came at one point and said "I'm waiting for my soufflé", I told him no, I'm the one waiting. After a further 20 minutes I spoke to a serving member and told them to cancel my starter as I wasn't going to eat alone with everyone watching and waiting for their main. When the mains arrived, they also brought my starter which I reminded them I'd cancelled and they took it away, why they thought it appropriate to serve a starter with mains I don't know, but my partners main didn't arrive. That came some 10 minutes or more after everybody else's. When the bill arrived it included service charge which none of us felt was warranted, it also included the charge for the starter I had cancelled. The manager had discounted the bill due to the problems but those items should not have remained on the bill. The bill was now for £134.81 and I gave him £140 in cash, some 10-15 minutes later, the manager returned to say he couldn't give me change so effectively was being tipped even more for a bad experience. If it hadn't been for the boyfriend going out of his way to organise this for my daughter, I would have complained but I didn't want to undermine his efforts. It's not just about the money, it's about the experience, and what should have been a great family celebration was a big disappointment. I would avoid this establishment like the plague.

I have been here many times for lunch and supper and it never disappoints. The food is always of a really high standard and the staff are always excellent. Absolutely love their steak frites with a glass of something red from the Languedoc. Love their sharing breads too - fougasse. Yummy! We have been here for breakfast too and there was a lovely choice.

What a lovely experience we had. Escaping from the rain at 5pm there were only a couple of tables occupied but it rapidly filled up and there was a nice, busy atmosphere. The service was impeccable (especially from the young lady from Normandy, sorry I didn't get your name). Food was wonderful, too. My steak frites was as good as you would get in Paris and my wife's pork belly was the best she has had for ages. Good wine, too and a great calvados.

Very slow service. Food uninspiring. Fresh tuna soo overcooked it was like cardboard but was told ‘that is the only way we are allowed to cook it’. Yuck

Fantastic, every dish was delicious and the one of the few places we've been to as a family that everyone has enjoyed their meal. vibes were chill, nothing felt rushed and really enjoyed the atmosphere.

We stumbled upon this brasserie after realising that the Italian restaurant nearby, where we had booked a table, was not a place we wanted to go to, as it didn't seem inviting at all... So we googled for a suitable alternative in the vicinity and found this brasserie, which we thought is always a good choice. And we certainly didn't regret it! Although the restaurant was quite full, they were able to accommodate us without a reservation. Service throughout was very prompt and friendly! Very good menu options, and with the waiter also very flexible to respond to requests for substitutes of side dishes. Typically French brasserie atmosphere with great food and service. What more could one ask for?

This brasserie offers a consistent high quality of French food. A comfortable friendly place on a rainy day. Service was excellent. The one disappointment is that the disabled toilet had no sign. I struggled up and down a flight of stairs to the normal toilets with a broken shoulder with a railing on only one side of the stairs.

Decor tired. Service haphazard. Food reasonable but below usual Cote standard. Hope this isn't the shape of things to come under the new owners of this chain.

Booked a table with friends for the jazz lunch, which we were highly looking forward to. Felt very disappointed as couldn't hear any of the saxophonist in the other room. Very poorly falsely advertised. Food was amazing so it was such a huge shame

Es handelt sich um ein Restaurant mit einer Terrasse und einem großen Innenraum. Wir haben das confit Duck Bigarde mit Trüffelkartoffelpüree gegessen. Neben der Ente gab es erstaunlich viel Gemüse . Alles war sehr lecker und empfehlenswert. Auch der Wein Tuber Malbec ist zu empfehlen. Die Atmosphäre ist wegen des großen Betriebs nicht die ruhigste aber das Essen macht es wert.

Loved this cozy French brasserie. Everyone was friendly & welcoming. The cheese souffle was amazing, as was the rest of our meal. Just a lovely experience. Highly recommend.

in London ( there are other cities you know) - this would have been 4 out of five - however - for a provincial town (technically a city -it has a cathedral) this was an excellent experience- the service was attentive without being over powering - the menu was sufficiently varied without being unrealistically over packed - and all the dishes well executed judging from the comments from other tables around me. I chose the steak tartare and the Breton fish stew. The steak tartare was as good as the Ivy ( quite the complement) - with an extra zing from the capers and added mild Tabasco, I added this BTW. The fish stew was packed with seafood - and really well cooked. I personally felt it was a little under seasoned - but I like my seafood on the salty side. I would recommend both dishes to foodies, especially if you haven’t tried steak tartare before - quite rare to find these days ,( no pun Intended) - all accompanied by a large glass of the house Merlot - an excellent paring if you don’t follow the traditional white wine with fish! A robust and competency executed dinner - thanks and as MacArther said “ I shall return”. Well done

Good for pre theatre dining. Varied menu, lovely service from Maggie. Fair prices in todays terms. A bigger choice of ice cream flavours would be welcome.

The Food is fantastic, the service impeccable coupled with a friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend the valentine menu as it's great value for money, especially with wine matching option. Certainly, one of the best, if not the best restaurant in Salisbury.
