Cote Brasserie - Godalming in Waverley

No warning that the restaurant was apparently “short staffed” until after our tragically bad meal. Didn’t seem to be a shortage of waiting staff. We were seated and hoped to have a tasty brunch… this was wishful thinking. After 40 mins waiting the Bloody Mary that was ordered arrived. After waiting 50 mins our food finally arrived and it may as well not have come out the kitchen. How the chefs think it’s acceptable to serve inedible and offensively bad food is beyond me (see photos). The manager/waiters should have clocked it and not allowed it to go from the pass to the table. The Cassoulet was more like a quiche and was rock solid, served colder than Jack in the movie Titanic in that last scene where he’s shivering by that iceberg and about to perish from hypothermia. The dish was dry, miserable, and the eggs yolks were rock hard. The chefs obviously knew they’d missed the mark by 1000 miles then tried to sneakily hide the abomination with two more fried eggs laid on top. I sent the food back. Didn’t want to wait another hour to risk it for more inedible food that highlights the ineptitude of the kitchen staff. The smoked salmon and eggs were nearly as awful. The Manager was apologetic and refunded the meal. So that’s a small positive despite wasting our time. I left hungry and got food elsewhere. I won’t be returning ever. I’d recommend you do the same.

Visited today for a birthday treat with a friend. Pleasant, busy surroundings and excellent service from Jerry who was always attentive, efficient and friendly. The food was delicious and it was a very successful visit.

We visited Cote in Godalming on Sunday morning for breakfast. It certainly has improved 100% under the watch of Connor. He and his wonderful staff went all out to make our visit memorable. The staff were very helpful and welcoming and we will be back again for another visit! We'll done to Connor and the staff for bringing it back to where it should be, one of the best restaurants in Godalming.

Really disappointed. this used to be our favorite Cote and Cote our favorite chain but the standards have slipped drastically. Firstly I got the impression they were hiding the Prix Fixe menu, we had to request it. My wife's pear and walnut salad did not have a single walnut and very little pear - it was basically a plate of spinach. My sea bass tapenade was not to my taste at all but as it was a taste issue I did not mention it. As I concession, they said that they had removed the salad from the bill. OK the bill went down by £1.45! Hardly a gesture to show their apology. Sadly this is likely to be our last visit to Cote for the foreseeable future. The merlot, however was great as was Erika our server.

This was a regular visit to meet my cousin halfway between where we both live. The staff are very good and your maid welcoming. On this occasion we did not have the set menu and And head when Courtney is my cousin had the tuna Nicoise and I had the pork belly comfort. Both are very good. Have dined at many Cote restaurants over the years. This was our first, and last visit to the Godalming Cote. It was awful. I ordered the burger and it arrived burned and overcooked. How they thought it was ok to serve such a burger is astonishing. Service was slow. Overall, the Godalming Cote gives a bad name to an otherwise well reputable brand of restaurants. Poor standards and service like this wouldn’t happen in London or Guildford. My advice to anyone reading this would be to skip Cote Godalming and go to the one in Guildford instead, or McDonalds for a nicer better value experience.

Very disappointed with service the Steak Tartare was presented with Three sauce bottles, the green pepper bottle was dirty at the top and just about empty asking the waiter to replace it I was less than pleased when the second bottle was also grubby and completely empty asking for yet again for anther bottle the waiter asked quite politely what were we doing with it !! this time it was replaced with a new bottle . Not a very good start to a birthday meal.

Every few months I need a cousin who I have known all my life. We try to choose a restaurant which is accessible for me by bus having now given up driving. We chose Cote in Godalming, as a convenient place to get to. we chose the fixed price menu at £18.95 for two courses and a starter with your head to glasses of wine I had the Roche SB and my cousin the Comte de Provence, which we enjoyed. For desert I hadthe Berry Clafoutis. They are very pleasant waitress recommended as a starter and main course which we both had unfortunately it was not sited out on the bill I received. We thought it was very good value for money.

Cote Godalming boasts a very good value vegan and vegetarian breakfast which we opted for. I particularly like the portion sizes and the quality of the ingredients. For £12 or so per dish, this is good value. Also great quality coffee. We were mainly served by manager Karlos, who was charming, charismatic and clearly has the knack for good customer service. I noticed he was doing a lot of the work to help the waiting staff despite it being a relatively slow morning. There was one table outside of perhaps 10 and inside there was a few tables of 2 and 4. I anticipate total covers would have been around 20 or so. My only criticism out of the whole experience was that when I ordered my breakfast I wasn't asked how I wanted my eggs and I was served poached. Not a disaster as the poached eggs were cooked to perfection, but I would have liked fried. A very small point, which doesn't deduct too much from a great experience. To be critical, my fiancee's mint tea looked a little on the sad side, sometimes you have nice big mint leaves however hers had small and some discoloured leaves however this didn't detract too much from the taste, or so I am told. I would recommend Cote Godalming and we will be coming back, I just hope that the waiting staff can offer such a high level of service that Karlos can. We had a very small interaction with 2 other members of staff, who were nice but Karlos did take it above and beyond.

We went for my Mum’s birthday and they made it really special! The food was perfect and the extra little touches they did with it being a birthday made it a great night.

We visited for a late lunch on Father's Day. It was mostly good. The dining area could've been warmer (overly air conditioned). We had a number of dishes, mine was the chicken salad, I've had this before and it was good again. My dad had the lamb dish, this came up cold. They replaced it and took it off the bill though. I found the manager a bit rude when we first arrived but I think he was just busy and stressed as he seemed ok when it quietened down later.

Disappointed Ordered our favourites but food was lower than expectations. The crab mayonaise starter , previously delicious , was flavourless and sloppy, Breton fish stew another favourite, tasted bland with re-heated potatoes , didn't enjoy it at all. Such a shame as they have a good menu but next time would order something simple that's easy to prepare .

Visited for a birthday breakfast. Enjoyed their eggs benedict, French toast with fruit, tea and a Cappuccino. Everything was great, but I struggled to give it five stars. Why? It would be easier if the eggs benedict came with maybe a little fruit or some potatoes, such as rosti or breakfast potatoes. It would make the meal more complete and better value. The Cappucino also had no chocolate, not the end of the world, but... Overall, if you go here for breakfast you will not be disappointed. Because we were there for a birthday, they also delivered a lovely chocolate lava cake with ice cream and a candle, free! Lovely touch! The staff were all great and the venue is welcoming and clean.

I had booked this restaurant for a friend's special birthday. I had to contact the restaurant 2-3 times before the booking. The manager Carl was super. He went out of his way to help me with all my enquiries, some not even to do with the restaurant booking. On the evening we were going to be delayed. He assured me that was fine, so I didn't have to worry. When we arrived at the restaurant we were all greeted by Carl. He was even more friendly and lovely in person. The rest of the staff were lovely too.The food was super delicious, fresh and hot. I would definitely recommend Cote Brasserie somewhere to go to have a nice meal. Thank you to Carl and his staff
