Côte Blackheath in Lewisham

Went there for an early Mother’s Day. I was about 10 minutes late as my mum injured herself just before getting to the restaurant. As I arrived, I apologised for the delay and explained it was because my mum had had an accident on the way there. The manager brushed over that and proceeded to tell me, in a rushed manner, I would need to vacate the table we were pointed to after x amount of time. Very warm start. After making that point we were then left scrambling to get someone’s attention. Not great given the limited amount of time at the table. Although the food (1 Côte breakfast and 1 French breakfast) came relatively quickly, it was truly appalling. The poached eggs were hard boiled inside, the smashed avocado evidently hadn’t been dressed (not even salt) other than the chilly flakes sprinkled on top, the black pudding was the driest of ever seen. Served by a blonde waitress with a long face the entire time. Please avoid at all costs!

A great place to go but if you go weekends I'd advise you to book especially if you want a window seat.. Food is delicious and to suit all tastes

A year ago, I had a great onion soup at another branch, but this time was a disappointment. The onions were undercooked, the soup was barely warm, and instead of being served in a proper onion soup casserole, it came in a small bowl. The vegetables were raw and flavorless, making the dish almost inedible. We couldn’t even finish half of it, yet the waiter simply cleared the plates without asking if anything was wrong. Unfortunately, the entire meal felt like a waste of both time and money.

Amazing Chicken Parfait + Sea Bass 😋

I had a lovely lunch in blackheath . Staff was friendly and welcoming. i have dairy alergy which can make it tricky especially in french restaurant but Tatjana looked after us well brought ipad with allergens and we found tasty 2 course meal for me. She even brought a lovely mini cake for my friend as it was his bday and made it super special overall great experience x and cocktails were lovely too

When entering the person who seated us asked if there’s allergies. We highlighted a nut allergy at the time. The person taking our order made it seem like it’s our responsibility to request the iPad to view the allergy menu (though we weren’t told about it). A bit weird! The company at the table and the food meant the lunch wasn’t ruined. Which is the main thing I guess!

Brilliant food. Service can be hit and miss

Lovely restaurant with amazing food. The bill for 4 starters, 4 mains and 2 bottles of nice wine was about £200. Felt that was good value.

NYE - set menu was good, if a little pricey!! One dish of calamari was amazing, but the other was overcooked and cold. Very slow service, but they explained they were short on staff. Duck was amazing. Pudding nothing special. Was looking forward To The Onion soup and Mussels, but will have to catch me back on a normal evening.

Friendly service and decent enough food for the price. It was a shame we ended up waiting over an hour for our dessert at the end though.

Got their 'mojo' back thankfully - used to visit regularly bit the food went downhill a couple of years ago. Tried again last week and great improvement - friendly staff, relaxed service and atmosphere, food hot and reasonably priced. Once again my 'go to' in Blackheath

Sadly we didn’t eat in the end due to a poor menu choice! Only 5 mains to chose from Sirloin, turkey, sea bream , and two veggie vegan options and that’s it! Staff were polite and showed us to the table , but we left due to the poor menu options! It’s. Shame as we normally have great food here!

Extremely disappointing. It took a very long time to be served and the food arrived cold. The cheese soufflé wasn't like anything I've encountered before and looked and tasted like Wotsits-flavoured rubber. As for the Beef Bourguignon it consisted almost entirely of gristle and was inedible. The chef needs to go back to catering college. The staff were unfriendly and brusque but this could be forgiven as the restaurant was packed with pre-Christmas diners and there clearly weren't enough waiters. The ill-mannered, trashy customers had to be seen to be believed (clearly some people think it's ok to pick their noses and eat the contents in public - perhaps the portions were insufficient?) but one can't blame the restaurant for their low-class clientele. We won't be coming back anytime soon...

Christmas set lunch was very delicious with good quality ingredients! Good Selections of Starters, Mains and Desserts served by friendly staff.

We love Cote, but particularly this branch is one of our favourites. Thanks you so much to Christian especially, for making sure my little one had a special birthday surprise! Really appreciated!

Excellent food, really nice service, good drinks. Nice portion sizes and very flavourful. We normally go to The Ivy round the corner, but Cote will be a regular visit from now on. Definitely good value and high end food and drink,.

Disappointed with the food . Mussels were bland . Cauliflower cheese had no taste . But the pudding was lovely

I had proper breakfast out in a resturant after long time and it was very good. As I am vegetarian so always struggle find something nice to my palette. I picked Vegan Breakfast. Not disappointing at all.

I've eaten at several Côte restaurants, and I've never been disappointed . The Blackheath restaurant follows that trend. They have a great menu for both food and drink, something for everyone, im sure. I ordered the beef cheek main with a side of green beans almondine, I wasn't disappointed. Perfectly cooked with a good depth of flavour, accompanied by 2 bottles of a very nice pinot noir. Ok, it's a bit expensive, but if you like and appreciate good food, then you have to be prepared to stick your hand in your pocket. If I had any gripe, it would be that the portion sizes could be bigger , but that's only because I'm greedy . Would I visit again ? Definitely ! Service was top-notch, too, very attentive and well trained staff . Every table was filled, and the atmosphere was lively - perfect.

We come here at least three times a week because the staff are excellent, as is the food.

This is a nicely located branch with good views of Blackheath. It was an unusually busy Monday afternoon, I guess they weren't expecting that and so it was a bit short of staff. She did her best and was polite throughout. The food is always good, poulet grille was delicious, however, the onion soup, i felt was a bit too small at the price of £8.95 + 12.5%. A bigger bowl or reduce the price by £2?

The Breton fish stew was a perfect end to a lovely walk in Greenwich park on this cold grey November Sunday. The flavour of the broth was lovely, the fish, prawns and mussels were fresh and generous. Service was swift and attentive. Recommend.

Amazing! I had the best time visiting Côte for my partners birthday. The service was amazing, so friendly and polite and even got in on the jokes. The food was amazing! We went for the sharing ribeye and it was cooked perfectly, the black garlic jus was Devine. It was all so reasonably priced as well. They even brought out a little lava cake with candle to sing happy birthday to my partner . We can not wait to come back!

The food was absolutely gorgeous, and the overall atmosphere was really cosy and chilled. The only downside was that service was a bit slow.

Been to Cote a few times but this last one was quite memorable as the scallops starter was absolutely delicious. Perfect combination with sauce. Also even smallest cheese plate is generous and delicious and you get to choose which cheeses. Service was great too.

My dad was visiting from Ireland and we went to Cote in Edinburgh and loved it, we are big fans of French food and enjoyed our experience, the food was fresh and very tasty the staff were incredibly attentive and made us feel very welcome, we had a great night, thank you :)

I recently dined at Côte in Blackheath with my parents, who were visiting from abroad and excited to try breakfast at a new spot. Unfortunately, our experience was a significant letdown. From the start, the service was lacking. We were met with no warm welcome or smiles, making us feel more like an inconvenience than valued guests. The food was the real disappointment. My poached eggs were overcooked—more like hard-boiled—and the beans were rock-hard. Despite my family’s tendency to avoid confrontation, I felt compelled to raise at least my issues with our waiter, not menation my Mom's awful Eggs Royale, and my Dad's and brother's french breakfast with the same issues. The manager kindly offered to replace my meal, but it took 15 minutes for my new plate to arrive, during which my family finished their breakfasts, leaving me to rush mine. Sadly, the replacement was just as bad. The beans were identical to the first serving but in a smaller portion, and the rest of the meal included undercooked bacon, an average sausage, tasteless potatoes, and ice-cold toast. When the manager checked back, I expressed my dissatisfaction, and he offered to halve the bill. However, after stepping away for a phone call, I learned that no discount was applied, and we ended up paying around £80 for three unsatisfactory french breakfasts, a luewarm and tasteless Eggs Royale and and an okay Cassoulet. Overall, our visit to Côte was marked by poor service and subpar food. I don't plan to return anytime soon and hope this review serves as helpful feedback for others.

Very good restaurant. The sirloin was delicious and the Paris-Brest was delight and the portion was very generous. Very helpful staff. I'll come back for dinner.

Tasty food, fresh ingredients amazing light atmosphere in the afternoons and early evenings and turns cosy and intimate the later on in the evening it gets. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and as I live locally I know I will be a repeat diner. 10/10

Had a lovely breakfast here. A meal, coffee and juice for £14.95 felt a pretty good deal and the quality was good! Coffee nothing too special though.

Visited Côte Brasserie ‘Blackheath’ for lunch; service was slow as clearly there wasn’t enough staff on duty; my wife had herb chicken, but alas it wasn’t ‘herb’ or at least she couldn’t taste any herbs, just plain chicken! - l had a filet steak which was OK but nothing special; reasonably priced and atmosphere OK:

I went to Cote Blackheath yesterday with a friend and I've to say everything was amazing. From food to the ambience to the service. The whole team was very professional and nice. A special thank you to Cornelia for looking after us.

I have eaten at the Côte Brasserie Blackheath on numerous occasions. Today’s experience was my final visit. The server was unfriendly and seemed to wait on our table begrudgingly. Usually, when you purchase a bottle of wine at a restaurant, your server refills your empty glass. This never occurred. Once our food arrived, there were no periodic visits to see if everything was okay. , which it wasn’t. My starter of salade au bacon was very tasteful, but my main course of baked ratatouille was bland and unappetising. The manager reduced the final bill because I complained about the non-existent service and inedible main course.

a single eclair and two drinks shouldn’t be £20... wait staff were standoffish and the eclair tasted like lemon cream between stale pastry. The only way I can describe is overpriced.

The food is good here and I enjoy coming here on occasion. A nice atmosphere in a nice part of town.

Two of us walked in around 2pm on Sunday. We were seated immediately and the staff were friendly but the service was painfully slow and food below average and expensive for what it was. Although it was busy, the staff never warned us the wait for food was over an hour and we had to ask for updates. The table next to us got seated over 30 mins later than us and were served before us, which was annoying. Our drinks took 25 mins to arrive and we waited more than half an hour for a starter of baked camembert "with baguette". The camembert was tiny and came with 3 thin slices of baguette and a small tomato garnish - a rip off and not really enough for sharing. We waited another hour for our mains of two salads with fries. The portions were tiny and done poorly - 3 very wilted lettuce leaves and overcooked tuna and dry eggs on the Niçoise, overcooked fries. We asked for ketchup and more water which never came, and we couldn't catch anyone's eye to ask again. As one of the only lunch places in Blackheath, I would have expected better service and better food. It was busy, and a large restaurant, but why not have more staff on?!

Great afternoon with great food staff were friendly and attentive

I had an exceptional experience at Blackheath Côte Brasserie, part of the Côte Brasserie company. Despite being a chain, this location feels like an independent business with staff who genuinely care for their customers. Although my meat was initially overcooked, the team promptly and generously resolved the issue, offering a discount as an apology. The food was exquisite, and I felt truly welcomed and valued. The chef is outstanding, and the waitstaff is very well-trained. Highly recommend this place for a delightful dining experience!

I ordered maison salad for £14 and it was such a disappointment. Chicken looked old. Boiled egg as was dry. Absolutely not worth the money

Our first time here for brunch after walking the dogs on the heath. We went for the full English offer which included a hot and cold drink at £14, go good value. The service was acceptable but could have been a little more attentive. The food however, we have to rate below average for the following reasons; toast only cooked on one side, mushrooms cold and tasteless, bacon rashers were under cooked. The worst thing was the coffee, which was so weak, almost like a hot cup of milk, and cold. When we told the front of house staff, they just simply say they would informed the kitchen staff. What they should have done is offered to re make them. Not great customer service.

Service and staff are always lovely, they're so accommodating and friendly from the moment you walk in! There's a great atmosphere, likely cos the staff are so hospitable and the food, wine and cocktails are absolutely amazing 😋 live music every other Wednesday with a singer and guitarist, like the line up on their list was from my Spotify lol

Lovely SYLVIA moved us to a more suitable location to be nearer to the disabled toilet. She was sparkly and friendly, very accommodating and helpful. A very relaxed, enjoyable evening with lovely hot food. Thank you Sylvia.

One of the breakfast I ever had

We had the special offer £21 breakfast, champagne and hot drink. Breakfast's: The French breakfast was served with 3 "chunks" of very-over-cooked and dry-looking black pudding. The full breakfast was nice although I thought it was small for the price paid.

I think bread should be served for free, especially for French food.

Shocking. Ordered Granola with mixed berries, yoghurt and honey. Looked like a 7 year old kid assembled it - and tasted like it. Added a croissant. Zapped in a microwave seconds before delivered to our table. Limp and poor quality. To add to the pantomime performance, we waiting almost twenty-five minutes for the order to arrive. There were four of us in the restaurant. Seriously, don't bother.

Excellent food and service. Even though we were only visiting the area to celebrate a big event…the staff kept a window seat for us and provided a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. Great food. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend this friendly place.

Always love a côte for a well priced steak frites but was really disappointed by their apparently new sodas. I was expecting something along the lines of a San Pellegrino lemonade at the £4.75 price point, which would still be a bit expensive. Instead, I got soda water with two twigs of mint and a raspberry. That’s just way too expensive for a small glass of soda water.

Warning ⚠️ to people who want to eat at COTE restaurant please 🙏 don’t . As being 👩‍🍳 my self !!!!!! I’ve just had diner there and it was awful and embarrassing, I’ve had steak and it was horrible, I wouldn't feed even to my dog because it was so hard to chew, it felt like the stake it’s just come out off a ice age and straight in microwave, and the taste disgusting , it felt like I’m chewing on the plastic , and the chips 🍟 they serve wouuuuu horrible and disgusting taste, u can taste the cheap oil they have b cooking, they so small and rock hard , plus they charge a lot for it , believe me u can get better and million times, from McDonald’s . I still smell the oil from the chips and i feel unwell after I dine there , I need it to go,to get a fizzy drink after that trying to make my self feeling better. And the staff so unprofessional just so unwelcome . People please don’t be fooled by the look off it and by the area where they are , u will b the most disappointed person and u will b feeling unwell soon after u eat . I have all ready put a complaining to the health and safety department, and food inspectors. And I’m 100000% sure about the good reviews they have, they are fake reviews, from people and friends they know it’s a scam. Shame , horrible, disgusting, disappointed,

On the outside it looks busy and a popular place to go and dine, which is what drew myself and my partner to want to try this restaurant. On entering the restaurant we did not get a warm and welcoming feeling. When seated, we were placed at a table where we were practically sitting on top of another couple who were next to us. We asked to move, so that there was a bit more room and got a rude response. We place our orders and once we received our food, we were quite disappointed as for what we were paying, the food did not match the quantity or the quality. We had ordered steak and chips and both were of poor quality. We were not asked how every thing was and then when we asked for the bill, again the service was not great and the bill was dumped onto our table. Upon looking at the receipt, a service charge was as placed on top of what we needed to pay. There was no way we were paying service charge for the poor quality service that we received.

Not the best of evening. My onion soup was served cold in a hot bowl, the soup was taken away and returned Hot after 10mins. My partner ask for a dessert which came with a coffee, sadly the coffee was cold. Also my partner booked our table on line which came with 2 free cocktails. When we checked our bill we we were being CHARGED for the drinks .the waiter change our bill . Managers need to check everything so this doesn't happen again

Our go to restaurant as they always have a good selection including fir our friend with allergies Had to ask for complimentary cocktails to be taken off the bill and unfortunately the fruit bowl we were offered for one of out desserts couldn't happen but otherwise we all enjoyed our food and drinks and there was only some waiting; think we were served by every member of staff. We had the spring menu which was unusual but all very tasty

Had a very enjoyable lunch with family and we were very well looked after - really lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff, especially Sylvia who was so courteous and made us feel so welcome- nothing was too much trouble. Thank you!

The food was ok . The service was brilliant. They ran out of wine glasses and gave us brandy glasses! It was sooooo noisy but it was Saturday night. Had a nice evening but probably wouldn't go back.

Great experiece as always. I am a regular at Cote and I always have a great experience. The food is lovely and the staff too. Last time we visited for my mum's birthday and we asked them for a surprise birthday dessert and they very kindly brought a chocolate fondant with a birthday candle, singing the birthday song to our mum. What was the best of all of this, is that they offered that on the house and did not charge us. Very very happy with everything!

We had the weekend shared meat platter. The steak was sumptuous melt in your mouth, the pork belly had the most delicious crackling that did not break your teeth and the chicken was tasty. Pricing is incredibly reasonable and high quality of food. Service was very good and Blackheath is a great setting.

Our waiter was very friendly and efficient but without coming back too much to the table. He asked us how the meal was and if we needed anything further, which was much appreciated. We both had the Sunday a la Cote - the food was delicious and well cooked. The meats were succulent and not over cooked and the vegetables were perfectly al dente. We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant and its location in Blackheath overlooking the Green. We often go to Cotes (this is our third restaurant having visited restaurants in Brighton and Haywards Heath) and would definitely come back again in the future.

Great week day menu. Excellent service, good location. Very good management and customer service, for example a glass of champagne is offered for a birthday. Not so keen on the weekend menu, for example, no chocolate mousse at the weekend 😕 The food is generally excellent but occasionally too salty or a bit plain. But on the whole, we like this restaurant very much. Very well done to the team!

Beautiful food but such small portions! I already spent £70 and was still hungry! Such a shame because if there were a few more chips & veg it would be alot better.

A nice atmosphere, and great staff! Unfortunately the food was a little disappointing! The calamari for the children’s menu came with a batter that was quite spicy (this should be noted on the menu) My salad was absolutely flooded in dressing, I couldn’t finish my meal as it was becoming sickly to eat! Either less dressing, or a pot on the side for people to add themselves. The chicken burger for the children’s menu was nice, good portion.

Unfortunately we had a really bad experience here via Deliveroo. We ordered 5 dishes and could only eat 3. First the order arrived super late. Then the dish we had wanted the most was missing completely from the order. The dishes we did receive were shockingly cold. Like, not room temperature, but actually COLD which also made the burger inedible because, really, there is no good way to re-heat a completely cold burger without overcooking and ruining it. So only 2 of the main dishes were salvageable after having to reheat them both in the oven. However these, like everything, were comically small portions, especially considering the prices. A £20 beef bourguignon, £18 stew and £16 burger are basically the size of an appetiser. The second photo attached is the container they come in next to a dinner and side plate for comparison. I mean it's not even as big as the side plate. The chocolate fondant dessert was the only thing that still tasted really nice after reheating, but it was of course super tiny as well - the size of a mini muffin, so we basically spent £80 for 3 yummy bites of dessert.

Absolutely love coming to this branch! I was served by Kornelia and she did her utmost best to provide a lovely experience and always served us with a smile! I’ll always continue to visit this branch with my party!

What has happened? Breton fish stew? No calamari, no parsley, no apparent garlic but loads of potato?! Bitterly disappointed that this amazing dish has been cheapened to a very obvious level. I can accept smaller portions but please don't RUIN a dish by being so blatantly CHEAP!

Our brunch here was a little disappointing. Dirty menus to start with. The avocado and eggs on toast was such a stingey portion, the eggs cost extra as well in which case the original dish would be miniscule - not worth the price. Luckily the french toast was up to scratch and very tasty but wouldn't do brunch here again.

Been there before and its a nice restaurant but really cannot recommend the burger. Was well overcooked but pretty sure it wouldn't have tasted any better regardless.

Excellent food, probably the best for a chain restaurant of this type in London, and very good service. Would recommend to book in advance as can get busy.
