We love going to Costa and are regulars in our village. We spent a week in Windermere and unfortunately couldn’t use the Costa here as we obviously cannot take dogs in and only allowed to sit outside. The weather was awful and no shelter outside for us to sit and enjoy a coffee. Surely if you are not going to let dogs in, put some sort of shelter outside even it is umbrellas. Ideally, Costa need to move into the current times and accept a high percentage of people now have dogs and 99.9% of cafes are dog friendly. Wonder why Costa was so empty yet all surrounding dog friendly cafes busy….

We visiting during the breakfast rush so we weren’t surprised how busy it was and we were able to order and find a table quickly. Staff were all really friendly, helpful and efficient although the member of staff serving drinks (we were told his name is Billy) was someone who stuck out to us. As we were being served we noticed that he was taking the time to engage with each customer as he worked hard making their drinks. As he chatted away, making conversation with each customer about how they were, their plans for the day, recommendations on places to visit in the town etc we were quite taken aback as he is quite frankly a breath of fresh air. We would like to thank each staff member for a lovely visit (sorry didn’t catch others names) and great customer service. Billy, you’re an asset to the Costa team!

Costa is normally a good standard. We had a late lunch & the place was a mess. The staff were very disorganised, we were eating in but I was given our cakes in a paper bag & our toasties in a cartoon. The cholocate & strawberry frappes were nothing like the ones I get from my local Costa, very disappointing.

The coffee was as good as usual,but I was so disappointed to find that it closed at 4pm!!After a lovely walk,it would gave been lovely to have a cappuccino .

On August 5th, we went to this branch near the lake for coffee on a semi-rainy day with some friends. The staff were polite and quick. I got two coffees and registered those in the mobile app, but couldn't see any beans came on, the guy on the till said that could takes time to show on your app. The next day they were still not there. I tried several times to discuss this matter online with costa customer service, but every time after the third page, it did not allow me to follow up on my complaint. A message kept asking me the date of birth, place and time, which I was sure I entered correctly. You can't call by phone either. The online service is pointless and is a joke !! They were busy and not enough staff. Only one toilet was available to use with a long queue! Toilet was messy and not clean. Next time I will consider other places as well.

No issue with the coffee , that was fine. The terrace outside however was not. Surely in such a prime location it should be a nice place to sit. Unfortunately it was scattered with litter that had obviously been there some time and most of the expensive looking plants in nice big pots were dead. Costa you need to get someone out to clear it up and water the plants as it’s a nice spot, but felt grubby.

Staff are much improved in last 2 months: nice friendly bunch of guys working there now. Opening hours are 8am to 5pm, currently, due to staff shortages. Coffee as usual, nice seating area outside only spoilt by the fact that ALL tables are smoking tables! Come on Costa, surely this area could be a smoke free zone? No awareness of austic or sensitives - music is always loud in here, so some non smokers will need to sit outside, not pleasant when surrounded by people who choose to make themselves sick. No Freshly Baked gluten free pastries or cakes perhaps this could be considered, rather than the pre packaged bars full of junk? Clean and bright place now, cleaning staff seem to be a lot better. Central to Bowness.

Arrived here in the last weekend of March. Not our first visit either. Each time we’ve come to this Costa we have been met with a shock of the uncleanliness of the place. To the point that we didn’t drink last year. Returning with high hopes this year we entered to find an overwhelming stench of raw sewage seeking through the place. The front corner of the shop was cordoned off with a few chairs and an apologetic staff member saying they’ve been struggling with the drains. The stench was so bad I couldn’t stomach it and there was no way I was going to subject my family to sitting in that just to attempt to enjoy a cup of coffee from a filthy cup. At least put up a sign or something. What is going on

Stopped for a coffee - Costa is right in heart of village and has outdoor and in door seating areas. Great spot for people watching.

As a frequent flyer of Costa all over the country I was taken aback by the attitude of the staff here. I accept we opened the door just before closing time but there is a way to speak with potential customers..closing or not. Didn't return the remainder of the week. Also, lots of lessons to be learned from other branches, you can be dog friendly without the need to insist on sitting outside on the terrace only....kinda challenging in torrential rain. Your loss, was the gain of many other independents this week...all dog friendly and very welcoming all close by.

I felt I was unwelcome due to the nature of the staff and there unfriendly service. The coffee machine was filthy as was the condition of the serving area, the drinks served weren’t pleasing at all and very watery, would not recommend.

Dirty tables everywhere, cutlery and cups not clean - one of our cups had old lipstick on it - and weak coffees

Queue was out of the door, wall to wall dirty tables, 1 member of staff trying to operate the elaborate coffee machine as the queue grew. Why go here when there are SO MANY independents in the town that do give a fig and really appreciate your cash.

Well this has to be the worst Costa in the UK slow service, dirty tables and floors, disabled toilet looks like not been cleaned for a month, no toilet paper. Couldn't wait to drink up and leave WONT BE GOING BACK

Quite possibly the dirtiest Costa we’ve ever been to. Incredibly slow service, despite 4 members of staff serving but nobody cleaning tables. The toilets were a disgrace with no soap at all. I rarely write bad reviews but this Costa was dreadful.

This cafe was very spacious and clean. The food was great, staff friendly and of course great coffee. We enjoyed looking out the windows on a rainy morning.

OK coffee, untidy with used cups on a number of tables. Staff seemed unmotivated, then I understood why perhaps.....an ex employee told me tips don’t get passed to the staff, kept by the management. Seems used to balance the till,I wonder if till overages go the staff.......

I’m only writing this review due to the staff that work in here. Visited here on Friday 13th December. Not sure of the staff names but they were ever so friendly, chatty and couldn’t do enough for the customers. To be honest a Costa coffee shop is much the same were ever you go. The staff make this one stand out,

As you'd expect this Costa gets very busy. The staff were all smiling. Clean tables and great bonfire spiced latte.

Oversized cups of weak coffee produced for large numbers of people and not entirely comfortable seating. Really should have chosen an independent cafe with homebaked cakes and attention to detail.

What can i say...everyones been to a Costa at some time or another, so there all the same well nearly, this one in Bowness has a large outside terrace which lets you really relax and watch the busy little town of Bowness go by. Everyones really chilled and even the pets seem to be smiling.

I sat outside whilst my other half went to get our coffees. After 30 minutes waiting for him I wondered if I should look for him, has he got locked in the loo or making the coffee himself!? He finally arrived with 2 coffees and a bun which were usual Costa standard, good to be fair. He said the staff he could see were busy but only 1 person making coffee, considering how busy it was more staff were needed to keep up with the demand. A 'manager' was seen sat at a table on a laptop, oblivious. I suggest you put your laptop away and start making some drinks, 30 minute wait for a couple of coffees is pretty unacceptable. The staff encountered were friendly and polite shame the place isn't ran better.

A lovely place to sit and enjoy the best coffee taste in town. I love the huge terrace especially for a sunny day like today. My only criticism is staff need more training in coffee making my and my wife’s coffee didn’t taste the usual costa. I think the person who served me was in training:-) I’m a costa lover!

This is in a central location on a really busy street. Seating outside for customers to use on dry days. Food and drinks are fine, usual Costa fare.

As it was "pouring" down with rain in Bowness we decided to shelter and keep dry in this Costa for a while, my Cappuccino was well made and nice and hot. We sat in a window seat overlooking the lake and just wishing it would have been dry as it would have been great to have sat outside on the large patio!! Overall a nice experience and friendly atmosphere!

Necesitando un café después de caminar por Bowness, mi esposa y yo, junto con nuestro perro, decidimos probar esta Costa. (Se admiten perros en la zona de estar al aire libre) Pedimos nuestro capuchino mediano de un disparo, junto con un muffin cada uno. El café estaba a su nivel normal, muy bueno, y los muffins eran frescos y muy sabrosos. Toda la zona estaba muy limpia e incluso los baños estaban ordenados y olía a fresco.

La tostada fue la verdadera sorpresa, fue encantadora, con un sabor a pan recién horneado recién sacado del horno (tal vez en realidad lo fue, ¿o es todo falso con los E-números?). La cosa de Nutella estaba bien, pero un poco demasiado dulce. Incluso el café no estaba mal, no puedo beber un café con leche de Costa pero él Americano con un chorrito de leche estaba bien. Si me encuentro en Windermere nuevamente a las 8 am de un sábado, regresaré a Costa. Sin embargo, esperaba encontrar algo más local e individual.

Have to say i come to this Costa at least 3 times a week, there have been so many changes with staff but i think they've finally got it right, its very busy but they do their best, They take the time to talk to you and have a laugh. really make you feel welcome. the manager is lovely and there is a young girl southern i think who is also lovely keep up the good work.

It is a real shame that our visit was spoiled by one of the managers being rude to another member of staff. Made us feel awkward and sorry for the poor young barrista. If you are able to sit outside it's really nice to watch the hustle and bustle but be away from it (visited in peak season).

I visited the Costa in Bowness and overheard a member of staff being incredible rude and racist about an Asian tourist. The member of staff had a manager's shirt on and I do not believe this is how a manager should behave. It ruined my experience and am unlikely to return.

This is one of the good ones service is a 10/10 and very clean if you are looking for good service and clean this is a must. Staff are great and very helpful and very chatty and helpful for places to go within the area.

This Costa in Bowness has a great location with a view of the lake. However the service was poor. I went in for a coffee when it wasn't busy. The staff seemed disorganised in taking the order. There was very loud noise of dishes being moved around - enough to break your concentration if you were reading or talking. When I asked where the washroom was the staff didn't bother to look at me but pointed in the direction and said rudely, "Around the corner darling!". I doubt I'll go back.

I went the other day for a drink at Costa Coffee in Bowness. I always go there for some drink even if I know sometimes it is very busy. Today when I went inside was a queue, people were waiting for their drinks as the managers and another young lady were having a chat behind bar. They didn't even bother say hello to the customers or maybe ask if anyone needs to order. The only one working behind bar was a guy with a big beard doing coolers like crazy who was running around to do the toasties as well. It doesn't look very good when you see two people working and the rest of them doing nothing, especially if they have customers.

Called in here for a fruit cooler. Service was good. Plenty of seating. One of the better costa's. Will return next time in area.

Trip up the lakes while working in Barrow. Been hete b4 over the years but not getting any better..used to be good afew years ago but sadly its sems that things are not improving. I think it just gets too busy for the stagf to cope and i think a good manager who can turn it back to how it was a few years ago is whats needed. Speed and cleanliness would be top of my list along with customer service.

Called in at 8 am on Saturday, served by the manager who was very friendly, store was lovely and clean and food well stocked.. there is plenty of seating over 2 floors plus a patio area with plenty of seating.. a lovely costa

Rude and unwilling to help when I thought i had broken my ankle outside the store, we only asked for a taxi number but staff behind counter just kept telling us they were closed, even tho they still had customers in. Tried sending a private complaint but been ignored.

Costa used to be my favorite spot for a coffee break but service is getting worse while prices remain high.

We stopped for a quick brew and snack at lunchtime during Easter weekend. We sat outside where there was plenty of seating due to the weather being wet. My hubby had to almost queue out the door as it was so busy. There was three people behind the counter, more staff were needed as it was 20 minutes before we got our tea, coffee and two blueberry muffins. The muffins were nice, and we always enjoy visiting a Costa when we are out and about. We feel as this Costa is in a prime it should have quicker service.

There is nothing you can quite put your finger on but the atmosphere in this particular branch of Costa Coffee is `strange`. The service is not bad but , each time we have been, the person serving seems miserable and it would go a long way to improving the feel of the place if the staff at least smiled ! The coffee itself is as in all Costas so perhaps it`s just us !

Only wanted 2 cupsof tea. Waited about 20 mins to get served. Tea bags were both ripped so tea leaves floated everywhere. Awful experience and won’t be back.

Costa coffee seem to support Andy's taxis. A firm that advertise one price then hike the price on arrival. I thought Costa were better than this.

We visited this Costa coffee during our day trip to Windermere and had our usual high quality coffee and cake experience that you always get at Costa.We ordered quite a few drinks and cakes as there were 5 of us and a member of staff kindly carried one of the trays up for us which was very appreciated as were sat upstairs

The wife and i called in on a rather ‘Sleety Day’ at the end of Jan 18, enjoyed a very welcome flat white each after walking around the town and lake, unfortunately we couldn’t sit outside on the patio due to the inclement weather but would imagine its lovely on a warm sunny. The staff were friendly and cheerful and the area was clean and tidy but then it wasn’t busy. Being in the great location. It was nice to rest our weary legs and watch the world go by. Will definitely be returning on our next visit cheers.

Having left my mobile at the Bowness Costa on Boxing Day, I expected the worst. I phoned and found a very friendly Helen had the phone there. She was so helpful and reassuring and couldn't have done more for me. She took time out to double wrap it and put it in the post to Leeds straight away. She even got me a tracking number. I received it this morning with Christmas photos etc. intact. COSTA - your Helen is a brilliant advert for the best customer service possible. Look after her! Chris
