Costa Coffee in Midlothian

Slow to clear tables. An automatic close n the outside door would improve this cafe considerably. Otherwise a decent buzz.

I was in Straiton retail park and decided to use the click and collect service via my app. I ordered a good 30 mins ahead to allow us time to look in Lidl next door. A few mins before my order was due I entered the shop and inquired about where to collect my order, they looked at my phone and I was told they hadn't yet received my order and told to wait in the designated area. After 10 mins I approached the barista serving the coffees if my order had been received I was told "no maybe it hadn't cleared with my bank" I assured him the money had been taken and once again showed him the order and the receipt. I was told to close the app and reopen it and the order was now showing as completed despite still not receiving anything. I was told he couldn't make my drinks as they hadn't received the order and their till would be down and they wouldn't receive the money. I was told to contact customer services and he would clarify they hadn't received the order. So I began the process of contacting customer services only to find it was email contact only. So after a very frustrating 25 mins waiting and not getting anywhere, I left £10.30 out of pocket, and with no coffees. To be perfectly honest, it ruined my entire day. I found the staff to be incredibly unhelpful and rude to me and was appalled by how I was treated — and I am now out of pocket for goods I never received. Unfortunately I can't give this review a negative score and I begrudge a one star review

Today I nipped into Costa coffee inside next at straiton retail park, bought myself a cold drink and asked if it was ok to breastfeed my baby. Much to my disappointment, the last serving told me it would be more comfortable for everyone if I used the baby changing facility which turned out to be just that with no feeding space ☹️ very disappointed I had to leave and find somewhere else to feed my hungry 3 month old!

It would appear that this Costa Coffee is now closed to anyone who wants to sit in and enjoy. We barely got our feet in the door when we were shouted at from behind the counter that it is now takeaway only. Such a shame, this was for us the best Costa in Midlothian. Staff always friendly and helpful. This cafe was as popular with both the elderly and younger generation. Takeaway only, go online or get it delivered?!! Yet another instance of the elderly being left behind or even ignored.

Was greeted by a smiling Laura, who quickly and efficiently served me, coffee and cake was lovely, no complaints here. Mike the manager also chatted as he cleaned a table near by, asking if everything was okay and how my day was going. Absolutely great, fab atmosphere and enjoyable visit. Thank you. 5 stars to your shop and staff Mike!

I had five pounds stolen from me by the staff. Zoe gave me change of £5 instead of £10. Happens. Made a complaint and the manager said he would look at the CCTV, came back and insisted he saw it was a £5. I asked him to show me a picture of it and he refused! I knew it was impossible as I didn’t have a £5 me. But then he just told me to get out! I called the police and they said they would make inquiries but haven’t heard anything back. Beware they are crooks operating at this cafe.

Lovely coffee shop .. very knowledgeable attentive employees. ..everything was excellent. Prompt service .. even although the shop was very busy .. tables were cleared very quickly. . We will be back .. very soon ..

I went in looking for an oatmilk latte. Sadly they did not have oatmillk. So I asked kindly if they Could reccomend another coffee shop nearby that might have it they told me that Costa was the only coffee shop in the business park they said there were two costas; and no others. A helpful engineer from Halfords told me of a much another coffee shop called in the business park called podingtons. I will never go to costa Straiton again; Costa can’t be that good here if they cannot be truthful about their competiton

The staff here are amazing! The range of coffee/Tea and lunch and breakfast ideas are plentiful and the prices are very mid range and also plenty of space I had a baby/Buggy?highchair and all staff and customers were accommodating to the space we were taking up!

This costa isn’t ver good. The brownies and coffee are all average. We have been twice and it has not improved.

A very busy coffee shop .. we were given very attentive,prompt service ... the staff work very well as a team ..the tables were cleared very quickly , by a nice young man who was willing to talk and ask how our day was going .this was very refreshing in this day that everyone is in such a rush ...we will be back ....soon...

We had coffee with friends here. The coffee was expensive And did not taste good. Moreover is was ver noisy.

Coffee shops are all over the place I frequent many over the city. This was not my first visit to Costa at Straiton. I have had lacklustre experiences before today however today really took the biscuit.

Right, I would normally never go anywhere near a Costa Coffee. I can't see the sense in paying £4 for a coffee and a muffin that costs 50p in the supermarket. If I want to have breakfast out I'll have a Full English/Scottish for a fiver.

Lovely coffee last weekend in may wasn’t as busy as it can be so was nice to a seat of our choice. Friendly service. Lovely coffee. Warmed up fruit scone, nothing else to say lovely experience.

Been here many times for a coffee and a cake. It's a typical Costa. Pleasantly furnished and not squashed in. The beverage is average and prices are what one might expect to pay. Value for money? Make up your own mind. These places and their prices just tend to be accepted. Ok pit stop!

It's a Costa coffee - what more can you say? But the one at Straiton, while often busy, always has staff who are friendly and helpful and deal with orders efficiently.

Popped in for a "quick" coffee....

We stopped for a coffee after a 3hr journey. Had a couple of chocolate chip cookies and 2 lattes. Lattes could have been hotter. So an average score today guys.

This Costa sits in the Straiton Retail Park, overlooking one of the main junctions (and you can sit back and relax while you watch the traffic disperse outside!).

Visited for coffee on Saturday . Very busy coffee shop but needs more staff . Cues at the tills and slow service . Quality of seating area superb with variety of seating and views of Arthur's seat and Pentlands

Have visited this coffee shop many times and have always requested a large cappuccino to go. Today I believe as normal I ordered a large cappuccino. When one of the Baristas looked at me with a coffee and said Large Latte, I shook my head and said Large Cappucino as this is what I believe I ordered. Before I knew it she took the latte, threw it away and then I heard her and the Manager that served me, have the conversation "she ordered a Latte"". "yes I know she did"! It was only at this point that I realised they were talking about me!!! I had just had some pretty awful news and whilst I find it difficult to accept I would ask for a a latte when I do not drink them, if one of them could have had the decency to just talk to me and and check what I said, and given me the chance to realise that on this occasion I may well have asked for a Latte by mistake, I would not only have taken the Latte but I would have apologised for any misunderstanding. Instead between them they made what already had been a poor morning even worse. I was so annoyed that part of me wished now I had confronted them for making me feel pretty sh**. Very poor customer service and I will not be back again.

Was looking forward to trying the new Costa within the new Next store at Straiton.

We visit this outlet regularly and always busy .Staff quick to serve you and always friendly.This Costa gives convenience and good quality coffee and snacks . They offer new blends of coffee to try and other offers and serve fresh baked cafes and bakes. They are moving very shortly to the new part of the Straton complex in the Next store complex. This will give more space and better location , and hopefully more modern surrounding and decor. Looking forward to the new Straton Costa !

This Costa Coffee outlet is part of the Straiton retail park. It gets incredibly busy - I can't ever remember coming here without having to queue for a while.

This Costa has plenty of parking. What you see is what you get. This is a very busy Costa and is always full and very hard to get a seat

Your standard Costa in a great location with plenty parking. Great seating area. Very clean and nice and warm although it opens out to the outside
